The Anambra South Senator further informed the Chinese government that Nnewi is the town with the highest number of industries and auto parts markets in Africa, hence the tagging of the town "JAPAN OF AFRICA", and urged the Republic of China to champion technology transfer to Anambra State which hosts Nnewi community in other to help the state to fully exploit its technological potentials. GROWING OUR LOCAL ECONOMY: SENATOR IFEANYI UBAH AND ANAMBRA SOUTH INDUSTRIALISTS, CHIEF ALLEN ONYEMA, CEO OF AIR PEACE, CHIEF AKAI EGWUONWU, CEO; ANAMBRA RICE/STINE MILLS HOLD BI-LATERAL MEETING WITH CHINESE CONSULAR GENERAL IN LAGOS. In furtherance of my Bi-lateral meeting with the Chinese Consulate, yesterday, I led two of my constituents and illustrious key players in the Nigerian economic sector; Chief Allen Onyema, CEO of Air Peace and Chief Akai Egwuonwu, CEO of Anambra Rice to a strategic partnership meeting with the Chinese Consul General; Mr Chao Xiaoliang in Lagos. During the meeting, we had strategic deliberations on the possibility of Air Peace commencing direct flight operations from Nigeria to China, especially in view of the forthcoming Chinese world Canton trade-fair which will occasion the influx of over 4,000 Nigerians into China for commercial purposes. I reminded the Consul General that my constituency accounts for 70% of key investors and Nigerian businesses in China, therefore, the commencement of a direct route into China which happens to be the heart of the Asian continent will promote the commercial sector of our country, which already has an existing robust relationship with China and spur better trade and commercial relations in the future, beginning with these direct flights. We also discussed agricultural development partnership between the Chinese Government and the Anambra/STINE Rice Mill which is presently the largest rice mill in Nigeria and is capable of producing 440 metric tons of rice daily or about 10,000 bags of 50 kg bags daily. Undoubtedly, China possesses insightful experience and expertise in agriculture which Nigeria can tap to enhance its quest for improved rice production, mechanization and agricultural development. I noted with concern that Infrastructure and technology remain key challenges in the rice production in Nigeria and continues to hinder progress in realizing the full potential that rice production and agriculture in general could contribute to diversifying the country’s economy. Our discussion established ideas and linkages which will provide sustainable partnerships for the advancement of rice production in Nigeria and link farmers to solid agricultural financing, technological and marketing mechanisms. I also advocated for the establishment of a Chinese consulate in Anambra which would lessen the stress and cost of obtaining Chinese visa by traders in the state and, by extension, the South East. Having reminded the Consul General that South Africa has 3 Chinese consulates which are situated in Pretoria, Sandton and Cape Town respectively. I stressed on the preponderant need to establish a consular office in the South East which plays host to 80% of Nigerian Business owners in China. Conclusively, the Chinese Consul General thanked us for the very timely visit. He noted that China-Nigeria relations are facing a new historical opportunity and promised to do his best to help sustain, build and promote a better bilateral relationship between China and Nigeria. I also used the medium to invite the Consular General to pay to a visit to Anambra South and Anambra in General to have an “on the spot” view and assessment of the commercial potentials of my state. The visit, I believe, will provide detailed insights and broaden his knowledge of Anambra South as one of the most industrially and commercially viable districts in Nigeria. Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Ubah; Anambra South Senatorial District.

SENATOR IFEANYI UBAH COMMENDS AIR PEACE FOR COMING TO THE RESCUE OF DISPLACED NIGERIANS IN SOUTH AFRICA, URGES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO CONTINUALLY SUPPORT LOCAL INVESTORS. I am extremely delighted to join every well meaning Nigerian in commending Chief. Allen Onyema and the entire management of Air Peace for the brilliant and exceptional display of patriotism displayed by virtue of his move to airlift stranded Nigerians in South Africa. It is indeed a thing of profound joy to witness such a selfless and epoch making gesture coming from my brother and constituent who has not only set a new benchmark in the Nigerian aviation sector, but has also actively taken part in humanitarian efforts to aid Nigerians who have been forcibly displaced as a result of the xenophobic attacks in South Africa. The speedy evacuation of these displaced and stranded Nigerians from South Africa has attracted tremendous respect to both the government and citizens of Nigeria on the international scene. Chief Allen Onyema is a man who has come so far from his humble beginnings, but has never forgotten what it feels like to struggle, and this memory informs his generosity and dedication to patriotism. I am beyond pleased with this show of selflessness which epitomizes the true meaning of patriotism. Once more, I wish to commend Chief Allen Onyema for this timely intervention which has placed him on the pedestal of “Heroes” who will be remembered by posterity for their legacy of sacrifice and patriotism to our nation in the face of devastating crisis. When I saw the capacity of Air Peace and fought vigorously for the protection of the company’s interests on the floor of the Senate, a lot of eye brows were raised. Today, Chief Onyema’s action has vindicated my stance and proven to Nigerians the importance of local investors and the protection of their investments like it is done in every other country. I am proud of the fact that he deployed one of his best aircrafts; a Boeing 777 to make this remarkable sacrifice for our dear nation out of his fleet of 28 airplanes and 20 brand new firm placed orders. It is worthy of note to remind Nigerians and the world that this gesture must have cost Chief Allen Onyema millions of dollars as he did this *”Free of Charge”* for our nation. This is also not the first time that Chief Allen Onyema would be placing national interest and patriotism over self interest. The general public would vividly recall that he used his philosophy of Noviolence to fight the incidence of violent militancy in the Niger Delta, training and transforming the militants during the Niger Delta uprising and engaging the restive youths in National reconciliation programmes which eventually led to the proclamation of amnesty to the ex-militants. Conclusively, I want to ask; Can any foreign airline operating in Nigeria do this for Nigerians? The answer is; No. It is imperative that we, as a nation, must not only take note of such persons of rare qualities but should also promote and encourage such citizens with formidable contributions to the nation’s economy. This is why I am using this medium to urge the Federal Government to continually support our indigenous investors and provide critical infrastructure that would make the nation’s environment conducive for private businesses to thrive because they are the ones that donate their personal resources for succor and societal support when critical situations like this arise. The protection of the business interests of these local investors should be a priority to the Government, so that they can be able to do more for the society. TRIBUNAL DISMISSES CHRIS AND ANDY UBA’S PETITIONS, UPHOLDS SENATOR IFEANYI UBAH’S VICTORY.

TRIBUNAL DISMISSES CHRIS AND ANDY UBA’S PETITIONS, UPHOLDS SENATOR IFEANYI UBAH’S VICTORY. To God be the glory, today, 9th of September 2019, the Election Tribunal sitting in Awka, Anambra State upheld my victory in the February 23rd National Assembly election and dismissed the consolidated petitions of both Chris Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Tribunal ruling which dismissed Chris and Andy Uba’s petition on the basis of lack of merit is an attestation of both the perfect will of God and the irrefutable choice of the good people of Anambra South at the February 23 polls. It also reinforces the confidence our people have in the judiciary; this is a good development for the advancement of democracy in our nation Nigeria as the judiciary has shown it is indeed the last hope for all. When I embarked on this Senatorial quest months ago, it was to translate to reality the dreams of a better future for my long suffering and downtrodden people. My “Open door” message resonated seamlessly with the electorate because they could tell my vision was distilled to the service to humanity, and not hinged on an intent to occupy office for the perks and privileges. I dedicate this victory to God first, my lovely wife; Mrs Uchenna Ubah wife and children, my great party; YPP, various stakeholders and sponsors who always believed in my cause as well as my resilient supporters. I also wish to specially acknowledge Prince. Nicholas Ukachukwu who didn’t go to court despite coming third at the electoral polls; this a noble act which I consider worthy of respect and admiration. To my supporters, I thank you all for believing in my capacity to represent you at the Senate Chambers. My priority will always be to work for the betterment of public interest through robust, effective and detailed legislation and oversight to ensure that my people derive the dividends of democracy. With your support, we convincingly won the election with 87,081 votes to beat; Chris Uba of PDP who got 52,462 votes Nicholas Ukachukwu of APGA - 51,269 Andy Uba of APC who got 13,245 votes. This is a victory for my teeming supporters, including leaders, stakeholders, men, women and our dear youths whose mandate has been authenticated by the Elections Petition Tribunal judges. I also wish to express gratitude to my legal team including Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), D.C DeNwigwe (SAN), J.O Asoluka (SAN designate) Onyinye Anumonye Esq and Chukwuemeka Nwigwe Esq as well as Counsel to INEC Mr JTU Nnodum SAN, Wale Agunbiade SAN, Chris Ubogu Esq, O.G Adindu Esq and their colleagues in chamber. Your outstanding contributions and efforts in this struggle for the cause of justice have not gone unnoticed. I thank you all immensely! Conclusively, now is the time for the people Anambra South from all political parties and all subgroups to rise up and collectively work for the betterment of our beloved Senatorial District. Once more, I hereby stretch my hand of fellowship to all my co-contestants. Let all of us-contestants, electorate, men and women-join hands in the task of rebuilding and developing Anambra South. Mmadu aburo Chukwu! This is a victory for all! Senator (Dr.) Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah. Anambra South Senatorial District.

*SENATOR IFEANYI UBAH THANKS FRIENDS AND WELL WISHERS FOR BIRTHDAY EULOGIES, CONDEMNS GRUESOME KILLINGS OF NIGERIANS IN SOUTH AFRICA.* I wish to thank my family, friends and well wishers for making my birthday the most special and making me recognize how important my existence is. Your wishes were all that was needed to make my birthday much more special. I cannot thank you all enough for the unforgettable moments that each one of you made me witness, it gives me great pleasure to know that my personal relationship with people have added inestimable value to our lives, the scintillating memories created by virtue of pictures and “one on one” moments shared with different individuals makes me want to get closer to many more people as possible. “Thank you’ is too short for me to express my gratitude to you all for making my birthday such an eventful day. To my political structures; Ifeanyi Ubah Solidarity Movement (IUSM), Afa Igbo Efuna and others, the outreach gestures which you all embarked on my behalf to various hospitals, prisons and orphanage homes did not only make my celebration unique but an outstanding event that I will cherish throughout the year and even beyond. However, regardless of the celebration, my attention has been unavoidably drawn to the recent spate of mindless xenophobic attacks on Nigerians, the majority of which are my constituents from Anambra South Senatorial District. These baseless and senseless attacks which destroy the very fabric of our unity as Africans are highly deplorable and condemnable, to say the least. South Africa seems to have forgotten so soon. Memories of their not too distant past appears to have eroded them. A country that Nigeria fought so hard, alongside other African countries to liberate from the apartheid regime have become the thorn in the flesh of fellow Africans, maiming and killing at will. Nelson Mandela would be weeping in his grave. Nigeria and Nigerians are known to be very accommodating people. Some of the biggest businesses in Nigeria are owned by South Africans as well as nationals of other countries. Yet, we endeavor to always live in peace while being our brother’s keeper as we believe that economic migrants are contributors to the growth of our economy. It is pertinent to state at this juncture that the South African Government have been complicit in this matter as no stern and firm step has been taken to stem the ugly trend till date. What is more disturbing is the fact that some elements of government have subtly called for the continuation of these attacks by failing to condemn them unreservedly. If a South African deputy commissioner of Police could make such an undemocratic and inciting statement and nothing was done to him, then our citizens and other Africans in South Africa are in grave danger. Enough is enough! The killing of Nigerians and destruction of property and businesses belonging to Nigerians in South Africa must stop immediately as we cannot continue to sit back and watch men and women from my constituency and Nigeria in general being killed, leaving their families and businesses in unquantifiable ruins. *South Africans are by this statement hereby urged to cease and desist from carrying out further attacks on Nigerians. Failure to adhere to this advice would be met with stiff resistance which would certainly lead to robust reprisal measures of equal magnitude. While we have always been an advocate for peace as peace-loving people, we as Nigerians refuse to be taken for granted.* Africa is ours, we must therefore come together as one and build for ourselves a continent with love as a pillar of our existence. A word is enough for the wise! May God continually bless you all and crown our endeavours with resounding success. Senator (Dr.) Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah Anambra South Senatorial District.

SENATOR DR PATRICK IFEANYI UBAH AT 48: A REFLECTION OF THE PAST YEAR AND MY VISION FOR THE NEXT YEAR. As I celebrate my 48th birthday today, I am extremely grateful to the Almighty God for his grace, blessings and favour upon my life. So much has happened in the past 365 days that I had to take some time to reflect on my blessings, triumphs, gain and purpose. Looking back, I cannot help but thank the Lord Almighty for his goodness and guidance. He has been faithful and the best words I have to express his greatness are understatements. I am lost for words as I think and reflect on his wonderful deeds. This year, I am privileged to be celebrating my birthday as a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; a significant milestone in my political journey, and a unique privilege bestowed upon me by the good people of Anambra South Senatorial District. In this regard, I would first of all like to use this opportunity to thank all my supporters and well wishers for the profound and continued support as well as steadfastness in the pursuit and actualization of my cause. The milestones we have achieved so far would have been a mere mirage without your constant words of encouragement and staunch belief in all that I represent. Words will never be enough to express the depth of my gratitude to you all. This year, my birthday came without any real fanfare except that family, friends and well wishers reminded me that I matter so much by virtue of the enormous outpouring of birthday wishes, gifts and personal notes. I am blessed beyond words to have all of you in my life and I am truly amazed at the tremendous display of love. I view my birthday as a time to reflect, take stock, think about the past, and plan for the future; a future that would have a very different tone and texture than it did in past years. Instead of clinking glasses and partying, let us reflect on the past and plan for the future. By virtue of God's immense blessings early in life, I have been consistently committed to the growth and advancement of humanity and never mortgaged my conscience for mere material possessions as I have always believed that life is a journey in which not even the abundance of silver and gold is as ennobling as devoting one's lifetime to endeavors that would redefine the course of history and engrave one's name on the positive plaque of posterity. I believe that each day that goes by is wasted if adequate effort is not made to serve and be seen as a blessing. In all instances, to the benefit of the society, I have always given my all and contributed to the best of my ability. I am determined to continue living effectively and fight for the emancipation of my people, so as to expand the frontiers of opportunities and possibilities for all to thrive irrespective of gender, background or physical conditions. My Senatorial journey is borne out of a strong conviction and belief in the shared prosperity, development and economic recovery of Ndi Igbo. I believe that my formidable track record of achievements and wealth of experience in the private sector has earned me tremendous knowledge, skills and capacity to understand the multiple expectations of my constituents in Anambra South. This is the basis of my Senatorial quest; to consolidate Anambra South’s credentials as one of the most economically and commercially viable districts in Nigeria. In my struggle for the emancipation of my people politically, I have experienced certain setbacks and stumbling blocks that have affected my business and workers consequently. Nonetheless, I have only become stronger and retained my capacity for love and brotherhood regardless of the betrayals I have also experienced in my political sojourn. However, what continues to give me strength is that one with God is majority and, in all things, God works for the good of those who love him and have been called according to his purpose. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWTQ2t750No https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJDdl6VAemQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozQUpm0yzT8

GROWING OUR LOCAL ECONOMY: THE NEED TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT DOMESTIC INVESTMENTS IN NIGERIA (A CASE STUDY OF AIR PEACE). The importance of patronizing local products and services cannot be overemphasized as it is one major way to economic growth and development. The economy of any nation advances rapidly when local goods and services are promoted through patronage, first by its people then through export. In the Nigerian aviation sector, it is however, dispiriting to know that we obviously are not appreciative of what we have. Our domestic airlines don’t enjoy sufficient promotion and encouragement from local consumers. Currently, Air Peace is presently considered the most successful privately owned airline in Nigeria by virtue of the company’s laudable achievements in the past years. *I am particularly interested and neck deep in my advocacy for the protection of Air Peace because it is a significant and strategic economic investment owned by my constituent; Chief Allen Oyema.* Recently we witnessed a situation in the past month where an Air Peace passenger plane experienced a hard landing causing a tyre burst at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja Lagos. Our local media was awash with negative stories instead of commending the pilot who averted such a potentially tragic occurrence. Days ago, an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 was involved in a peculiar incident as it veered off the runway after landing at Addis Ababa.[See link] https://simpleflying.com/ethiopian-737-exits-runway-addis-ababa/ Had this happened to a domestic airline in Nigeria, hell would have been let loose by our local media which is supposed to serve as a tool for marketing and protecting our domestic economy. From all indications, Nigerians are yet to grasp the full advantage of promoting local content patronage in products and services. There is need to embrace attitudinal, structural, and cultural change that would enable our people modify their outlook towards domestic companies and support them to the best of our ability. Nigeria can easily experience a a major leap in the quest for local content development and a stable, strong and advanced economy if Nigerians would learn to appreciate and promote our local investments. It is important for our people to appreciate our domestic businesses and their contributions to the nation’s economy. Promoting and supporting our Domestic companies is a sure way to reverse our dwindling economic fortunes, not only will poverty be kept at bay in our country but also the teeming youths of working class background would be productively engaged. It is therefore within this context that it is posited that the promotion and protection of our local investments is tantamount to economic recovery. The need to encourage and promote domestic companies through patronage and media has become imperative to boost Nigeria’s economy locally and at the global scale. Further aware of the issue of flight delays and cancellations which has gradually become a recurring decimal in the Nigerian aviation sector. In most cases, these delays are caused by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and other factors beyond the control of the airlines. Some of these factors include; bad weather, aerodrome closure as a result of inadequate navigational equipment and technology for takeoff/landing, as well as many other issues bothering on safety. No airline would want to put it’s airplanes and the lives of passengers in jeopardy in a bid to avoid delay. It is essential for the Airport authorities to take urgent steps in putting adequate infrastructure in place at our airport terminals. These infrastructure includes; Automatic Landing systems to enable airplanes land safely in weather conditions that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to operate in. There is also need for the authorities to ensure sufficiency of multiple scanning machines at screening points for respective airlines instead of the conventional approach of constraining the entire Airlines to use one screening point, this can significantly reduce flight delay. For the Nigerian aviation sector to thrive in the global economy, adequate infrastructure must be put in place to ensure that we competitively meet up with global aviation standards. Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Ubah; Senator Anambra South Senatorial District. |
CELEBRATING PRODUCTIVITY: SENATOR (DR.) IFEANYI UBAH HEARTILY FELICITATES WITH NDI NNEWI AT HOME AND IN THE DIASPORA ON THE OCCASION OF THE AFIAOLU 2019 It is with profound joy that I convey my warm felicitations to Igwe K.O Orizu III and Ndi Nnewi, both at home and in the Diaspora on the propitious occasion of our Afiaolu 2019 celebration. The Afiaolu festival which heralds the availability of the “New yam” and its prominence in our socio cultural life while giving thanks to God for productivity and cultivation of farm fields as well as the subsequent bountiful harvest of yams and other crops brings to memory the importance of the festival as a fundamental vehicle that has been used to drive productivity, social integration, promote peace, community development and communal progress. CHINESE VISA ISSUANCE: SENATOR IFEANYI UBAH LEADS DELEGATION OF IGBO MARKET LEADERS TO CHINESE CONSUL GENERAL IN LAGOS. In furtherance of my call for an effective Chinese Visa issuance policy during my courtesy visit to the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Zhou Pingjian at the Chinese Embassy Abuja. The Chinese Ambassador and other top officials of the Chinese Embassy subsequently hosted me to a dinner session at his official residence where I reaffirmed my commitment to pursuing the agreements reached in our previous meeting. During the week, I also paid the Chinese Consul General in Lagos; Mr Chao Xiaoliang a courtesy visit with Igbo market leaders and other top ranking members of the Lagos-Igbo business community. After introducing the market leaders to the Consul General, I emphasized that the Igbo business community in Lagos comprises of enterprising people (over 1million traders), particularly my constituents who are commercially oriented and account for the highest patronage/distribution of Made in China goods in various segments of the Nigerian market, as well as huge potentials for economic development consisting of 100,000 prospective market investors. While discussing issues aimed at facilitating trade balance and deepening cooperation on issues of common interest, particularly on Visa issuance, I stated that the recurrent visa refusal cases often poses as a stumbling block to genuine and reputable business men/women whose source of livelihood depends on their businesses ventures in China. I reminded the Consul General that the robust economic progress of the two economies means great potential and more room for bilateral cooperation. Catholics worldwide celebrated the feast of Our lady Assumption into heaven, on the 15th of August 2019, it's also a holy day of obligation for Catholic faithfuls all over the world. In Nnewi Diocese, it is a great feast because the Catholic cathedral church of the diocese is known as Our Lady of Assumption cathedral. The mass for this year's feast at the cathedral parish was officiated by the catholic Bishop of Nnewi diocese, The most Rev. Dr. Hilary Odili Okeke, he also administered the sacrament of the Holy communion to some qualified faithfuls. In his homily he advised the parishioners and congregation to emulate our mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary in humility, chastity, acceptance of the will of God in our life and above all obedience which he said that led to the manifestation of the first miracle Jesus Christ did at a wedding in Canaan. He used the opportunity to exonerate Sen. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah for the delay in completion of the cathedral building, but blamed the delay on the antics of greedy and unscrupulous contractors. He also narrated to the church how Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah had earlier paid #80 million to a contractor for the roofing of the cathedral and how the contractor after collecting the money, breached their contractual agreements by using substandard materials which caused the sagging of the roof. He told the faithfuls how he suggested that extra pillars be erected inside the church auditorium, so that the initial money Ubah paid for the roofing won't be a waste, but according to the bishop, Dr Ubah didn't support the idea of erecting pillars inside the church, because it will mess up the architectural design of the cathedral and insisted that the entire roof be brought down and replaced with an entire new one. The bishop also narrated how Dr. Ubah bought a special crane for the removal of the roof at the cost of #85.5 million, and paid #1.5 million to the crane operators who later abandoned the installation, the company that supplied the crane were called to assist, and they collected #5 million, along the line, the crane broke down leading to another delay, but Dr. Ubah didn't relent he went ahead and hired another set of engineers that eventually brought the roof down manually. According the bishop, and another set of engineers came and collected huge amount of money from same man only to abandon the work again. He lamented that those contractors took advantage of Dr. Ubah's not being around to monitor them after payments. The bishop told us that many contractors duped Dr. Ubah because of his absence, but the church has now set up a building committee to supervise and monitor the project on behalf of the church and Dr. Ubah. What this latest development mean is that hence forth, in Sen. Ubah's absence, the committee members have been charged with the responsibilities of getting a new and capable engineers on the roofing matter to finish the job, they will also be in charge of the fund released by Dr Ubah for the project. The bishop assured the church that all the loose ends has been tired and that the cathedral will be ready for use soon. He prayed for God's blessings upon all the faithfuls blessed them at the end of the holy mass, while cultural dances and drama groups entertained the faithfuls. Assumption! Heaven is our home! Assumption! Heaven is our home!! Heaven is our home! Assumption!!!
