Did you support him?
DaTruths:
Buhari appointed his Northerners from the far end of North-West to the Far end of North-East.

Tinubu clamored for Southern Presidency, the whole Governors of Southern origin had a meeting at Asaba which birthed the Asaba Declaration where we all agreed that Power must return to South.

The South was somewhat in unity on it.

Now Tinubu has become the president, but unfortunately the president for the South-West.

He is appointing mostly Yorubas, Southern Presidency indeed.

He should remember that Buhari was nepotic, but he opened his arm across the whole North.

But Tinubu doesn't want to open his arm across the whole South.

Quite unfortunate because this should be the turn of the South not just South-West.

Why don't you arrest IPOB terrorists. It's only innocent hawkers you can harass?

Titusele87:
Anambra arrests 30 street hawkers, shuts 100 shops for environmental offences

Titus Maduako Eleweke

Anambra State Government has arrested 30 street hawkers and shut over 100 shops for environmental offences .

The Managing Director of Operation Keep Clean and Healthy (Ocha Brigade) Mr Celestine Anere disclosed that they have arrested 30 people violating hawking and trading laws of the state and shut down almost 100 shops at the popular Eke Awka market.

Anere who led the operation yesterday evening said the state government will no longer tolerate street traders who blocked roads and shop owner who keep their environment dirty.

"We are here this evening to decongest streets and stop hawkers and traders from blocking access roads for motorists to ply on the roads. We are tired of begging them not to trade on the main roads " he said .

According to him, what they are doing is to arrest persons who hawks on the Streets and consificate their goods ,noting that they must set the streets free from blockage by traders .

He said that ,while clearing the street traders, they discovered that drainages were filled to brim and cause flooding during rain.

"The control of flooding in this place is simple, what we need is just to distill the drainage to allow water flow freely .

"Our intention is to distill the drainage from Eke Awka to Amawabia bypass both sides and Agu Awka . We know this task will not be easy but we must get it right because solution is here. The governor is serious about clean and healthy Anambra and it is the duty of Ocha Brigade to get it done " he said .

He also said that they are happy that the traders have started complying with the distilling order, noting that their shops would be opened immediately after evidence of serious commitment.

The MD also stated that those who built on drainage and water way are being compel to dismantle and allow water to flow freely.

"We close the shops because their shops were dirty, the distilling laws of Anambra State made it clear that you must keep your environment clean and clean gutters. Based on these laws ,we are compelling the shop owners to distill and keep their sorrounding clean. We will continue to close their shops untill they fully complied " he said .

Speaking to News men, during the operation, Chairman of St Mary Traders Association, Mr Obinna Umeh said they have problems in clearing the drainage in their area.

According to him, they have cleared the drainage three times within the years and immediately after clearing the drainage it will be filled again because of tunnel closure.

He said that there are closed tunnel in the area which need to be opened to allow water flow freely and he appealed to the governor to help open the tunnel.
According to him, government ought to open the tunnel, noting that it was only when the tunnel is open that their distilling can be effective.

garfield1:
Former Kaduna lawmaker, Sen Shehu Sani, has applauded the appointment of Imam Ibrahim Kashim-Imam, as the Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

In a statement issued last week Friday evening, presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said the appointee is expected to serve for a renewable term of four (4) years, in accordance with Section 2(3) of the FERMA Amendment Act, 2007.

Reacting in a post via his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, Sani said there is nothing wrong with the President appointing the 25-year-old to head the federal agency.

The former Kaduna Central Senator said the state of Federal roads in the country shows that those old people appointed over the years have not merited the position they held.

Sani, therefore, counselled that the youths, and young people should learn to rally around the new FERMA chairman.

He said: “There is nothing wrong with appointing a 25-year-old to head FERMA. Just look at the state of Federal roads in the country and ask yourself if those old people appointed over the years merited the position they held. Young people should learn to rally around their own.”

No matter what you do. Don't allow anyone to put you under pressure and don't let what your friends and others put you under pressure. Build your future investment channel now and that's invest in rental properties. House is an asset car I a liability. Don't do big personal house but a moderate one. Do commercial houses that will be funding you in the future.

Easyincome24:
It's good one plans his/her life early enough to avoid story that touches.

Some of our parents never believed that the country will become what it is today.

My father told me how cheap lands were in the country when he was in his 20's. He regretted not investing enough due to shouldering many responsibilities especially bringing his siblings and extended families to the city. He nurtured them till they became of age. When he realized what's up, time has exceeded him as we the children have needs too.

Now, I'm asking the following question: between owning a car or house, which would you advice someone in his 20's to acquire first?

Both can yield returns as long as they can be used in the proper way for investment.

Can we have more people comment on this to help many who are still in their 20's and able to fund any of the assets?

Note: Some young folks are doing legit work earning in $$$. I have some techy guys in their 20's as software developers, Blockchain DAOs, Freelancers, Content creators, YouTube influencers, Social Media Marketers, 3D animators, AI engineer, Bitcoin minning. They evolve around tech working remotely. So, not all of these guys in their 20's are yahoo yahoo, at least these ones I can guarantee.

We engaged in a discussion where they raised the above question about which is best between owning a car or house at their ages.

Politics / Re: Why Igbos Are The Most Resilient And Progressive People In Nigeria by gratefulheart(m): 12:50pm On Oct 17, 2023
This is why your region is the most underdeveloped because of your arrogance and pride, you're the most educated illiterate.

MrEverest:
There is no doubt that Igbos are the most resilient and most progressive people in Nigeria. This is a fact any honest observer will agree. However, there are reasons why it is so and I will explain in this thread. Whether others learn or not, is up to them but this thread is not for bragging purposes but to encourage Igbos in being even more intentional.

Firstly, I can tell you that there are threads on each South East state i.e Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States. You will see Igbos criticizing, pushing, advising and promoting ideas on how their various states can be better. On the contrary, you will hardly see any thread by Hausas, Yorubas or others trying to help promote good governance in their states.

Secondly, you can't be an Igbo politician who is irresponsible without Igbos coming after you. The likes of Uzodinma won't have become a governor if not federal government manipulation. You see Igbos lambasting him everyday. Others like Ekweremadu, Orji Kalu, T.A Orji, Okezie Ikpeazu, Rochas etc. Also faced relentless criticism and verbal attacks. However, I can bet you that these politicians are not worse than average politicians from the SW, NC, SS, NE or NW. Yet you don't see them criticize their leaders, even when they're performing terribly.

Thirdly, there is hardly any community in Igboland without development unions, diaspora unions, women unions etc. What they discuss in these unions is how to develop their communities and make it better. They build schools, hospitals/health centers, roads, scholarships, grants to orphans and widows etc. This is partly the reason why most rural communities and villages in Igboland don't appear so remote and underdeveloped. You will hardly see Yorubas, Hausas or most others being so passionate in doing this like the Igbos.

I have traveled well across many parts of Nigeria, and I can tell you that there are places in the SW where nothing has literally changed since the last 50 years! It's the same story in the North and many other areas across Nigeria. However, I can tell you that there is no Igbo community you won't observe incremental positive changes.

Instead of Nigerians to try and emulate the Igbos, they arrogantly insult them. Calling them developers, wailers, victim mentality people etc. Today, Igboland is better for it. Their politicians now know they can't do rubbish without Igbos collectively coming after them. Former governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu was just an average governor, but being average is not good enough for Igbos. So, he faced severe criticisms. If he were from the SW, he would be seen as a performer. Of course, no one queries their governors. Igbos are now producing outstanding governors and leaders because awareness is very high among the people. How many regions can produce the likes of Dave Umahi, Peter Obi, and Alex Ottih etc? Even Charles Soludo is not doing badly but yet Igbos are watching his every moves and actions with due criticism.

When Igbos try to bring same standards and criticise politicians at the federal level, other Nigerians will bring tribalism into it. If Buhari or Tinubu were to be Igbos, Igbos would have been their worst critics due to their poor performance. But Hausas and Fulanis endured Buhari's 8 years of maladministration because he is their tribesman. Yorubas are today, enduring even a worse situation under Tinubu, because he is their tribesman. Sometimes, I don't blame the secessionists trying to breakup Nigeria. Because when you look at the situation holistically, you will realize that Nigerians are only deceiving themselves and only Igbos appear to keep it real.

Politics / Re: NADECO Calls On Akpabio To Resign Or Be Impeached by gratefulheart(m): 10:53am On Oct 17, 2023
In your dream.

Jatuski:

The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) United States of America (USA) has called on the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio to resign over his lackluster handling of the affairs of the upper chamber.

The Executive Director of NADECO USA, Mr Lloyd Ukwu, Esq., made this call in a statement released to newsmen today in Abuja.

Ugwu also called on Senators to urgently commence impeachment proceedings against Akpabio for making the upper chamber a laughing stock through naivety, immaturity and eagerness to please the executive, irrespective of the repercussions of his actions on the Senate as an institution and democratic governance in Nigeria.

The Coalition noted that Akpabio who was planted as Senate President by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has completely subjugated his colleagues under the executive and eroded the independence and integrity of the legislature in Nigeria.

They accused Akpabio of
showing absolute disdain for the Standing Rules of the Senate as regards the order of proceedings, vibrant debates during plenary and thorough scrutiny of executive communications and Bills.

According to the pro-democracy group, Akpabio often resume plenaries late and unduly extend the time of sitting, a situation which is tiresome to Senators but which they are forced to stomach.

He noted that in the order paper for the day, Akpabio’s first assignment is to take the opening prayers, call for approval of votes and proceedings of the previous sitting, administer oaths if any and make announcement (if any) before calling for petitions.

Ukwu said: “However, Akpabio is fond of keeping communications from the President which are supposed to be read during announcement time till the end of plenary like he recently did when he announced the last three ministerial nominees by the President towards the tail end of plenary.

“Only recently, the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC - Borno South) and Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo (SDP - Nasarawa South) openly accused Akpabio of not giving senators adequate opportunity to interrogate and scrutinize bills, especially money bills, and warned that history would judge him for approving executive requests and passing important legislations posthaste.

“Akpabio has equally showed lack of empathy for poor and suffering Nigerian masses when he recently turned a ‘let Nigerians breathe’ comment by a Senator into a pun which attracted a mocking laughter from his colleagues during plenary.

“For fear of being impeached, he recently caused an amendment to be made to the Senate Standing Rules to the effect that no first term Senator is qualified to vie for the position of presiding officer, a move which clearly violates relevant sections of the constitution which confers powers on Senators to freely choose presiding officers at their first sitting irrespective of ranking.

“He also rallies Senators to pass bills they have not seen or may never see the details. Above all, he treats and relates with Senators with disrespect like errand boys even as he continues to wear his former toga as the executive governor and dictator in Akwa Ibom State Government House, Uyo.”

NADECO USA insisted that Akpabio who earlier contested the presidential primary election of the APC in 2022 is not fit to be Senate President of Nigeria at this material time.

He insisted that should Akpabio fail to resign or Senators fail to impeach him, NADECO USA would have no option than to mobilize its members in USA and Nigerians in diaspora for a mass action to ensure that he vacates office.

He said: “NADECO USA has received several petitions against Akpabio and his subservient leadership style as President of the 10th Senate.

“Therefore we are ready to take necessary actions to ensure that the US parliament and other parliaments across the world would henceforth not consider the Nigerian Senate under Akpabio as a serious and responsible institution.

“We will also use our reach, influence and powers to lobby to ensure that the 10th Senate under Akpabio is not accorded due recognition within the international community.

“It is regrettable that since assumption of office, Akpabio has converted the National Assembly into an annex of the Presidential Villa.

“He has connived with the executive to approve loans and other adverse requests without following due process or allowing Senators to adequately make germane input through robust debate.”

How many people was the bill for definitely only for Mr. President.

akingangan:
Tinubu traveled to New York, one of the world's most expensive cities for the UN assembly meeting with 7 governors and seven ministers amongst others like special advisers and security.

Assuming there are 30 people in total with a daily rate of $1000(which is average for such a period where everywhere was fully booked by diplomats from various countries) and they all stayed for 5 days that is $150,000 thousand dollars

plus food and other expenses ₦390M is a reasonable budget for such a trip

Nigerian social media warriors should go and get jobs and start businesses instead of constantly complaining like spoilt citizens looking for government handouts.

Emeka Chikelu is far far better than Bitter Obi.
Google is name if you don't know him but he is no longer interested in politics because of people like bitter Obi and he speaks Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa. He is a billionaire but doesn't make noise like Bitter Obi. He has done much more for Igboland more than Bitter Obi. He is friendly, fair, culture. You can pass beside him and not know he is the one. He is too humble...

Penguin2:
This is a response to Sukkot’s thread where he asked if Igbos are supporting Obi because they think he’s competent or because they are looking for bragging rights.

In response, I want to ask him and those who share in his line of thinking to name any Igbo politician more competent than Peter Obi in Nigeria today.

And when I talk about being better, I’m talking holistically; that is by all yardstick used in measuring competence.

By education, how many Igbo politician are as widely educated as Peter Obi?

Away from book intelligence and acquiring of titles and degrees, how many Igbo politician have been able to demonstrate competence and apply their book intelligence into practical and demonstrable achievements in governance? I ask this because we have seen Professors and people we considered intelligent go into public office and fail woefully. Examples abound…. Prof. Ben Ayade of Cross River is an example. And most recently, Anambra people will testify to Soludo has turned out to an unimaginable disappointment even with all his certificates.

So, you see, it’s not about the most educated or the person who speaks the best Queen’s English but about who has been able to apply what he has upstairs to real life solutions and had a great outcome. That’s where Obi stands tall above everyone else.

And then we talk about integrity….

Obi is the most scrutinized Nigerian since 2022 but still nothing could be found on him. Man has conquered greed. Handled Anambra finances with utmost discipline with misappropriating a dime. How many Igbo politician can boast of that?

If all Igbos cared about was bragging rights, then we would have supported any of the Igbo politicians in APC. Okorocha, Orji Uzor Kalu, Umahi, etc. But we didn’t do that, and will never do that because we don’t trust in their capacity after their vapor record in office as governors of their state.

Every non-Igbo (except the one lying to himself or deliberately being mischievous) knows that if you place Osinbajo and Okorocha side by side as presidential candidates, Igbos would vote Osinbajo over Okorocha (or somebody like Orji Uzor Kalu). At worst case scenario, Igbos would rather sit at home than vote Okorocha.

So why would anyone suggest that Igbos only care about bragging rights?

For the one billionth time, our support for Obi is solely based on his competence, character and his record as Anambra governor.

And that Anambra people worship Obi, almost as god, is enough to prove to anybody that Obi was exceptional as their governor. Or you think they were deceived by media propaganda?

So, which Igbo politician is better than Peter Obi that Igbos would have supported instead of supporting Obi?

Itrybe:
POLITICS- The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi has demanded that President Bola Tinubu come clean on his true identity.

Obi made the demand on Wednesday during a press conference in Abuja.

The former Anambra State governor urged Tinubu to reintroduce himself to the nation he governs, and to the world for avoidance of further doubt.

According to Obi, it’s only Tinubu himself through a direct personal statement that could clear every speculation about his true identity.

Obi said, “He should introduce himself to the nation he governs, and to the world for avoidance of further doubt.

“He should let the world know his name, his nationality, his place of birth, his current age, the primary and secondary schools he attended with dates, as well as the actual universities he attended and certificates he obtained.

“He should indicate clearly when and where he did his national youth service. In addition, if he had a change of name, he should state so clearly the time and circumstances.

“This is a simple task that will only take a few minutes. It requires no affidavit, prolonged talk process, spokespersons, agents or surrogates.

“The task is only Chief Bola Tinubu himself through a direct personal statement can perform. He must perform this task urgently. He has to lay to rest many lingering doubts and speculations about his true identity.”
