You prefer the Oddysey to the Sienna? You prefer the Honda Shuttle to the Toyota Picnic or the Previa?

Well, to each his own. But let's use a common yardstick, interstate transport. There's a reason interstate drivers almost never use Honda MPVs. Or any Honda vehicles, as a matter of fact.

And before you start chanting Toyota bandwagon, they use Peugeot vehicles particularly in the North. Even with the affinity for Honda vehicles in the North, how many Honda MPVs do you see used for interstate transportation?

Your tribalism is so deep and disgusting that it won't let you have the sense to avoid showing your bigotry in public

The distance from clannish, tribalistic behaviour to Fraudulent behavior is not very far. One day very soon you would refuse to send someone their well deserved funds, just because of their ethnic origin

HealthNARD Calls Off Strike After Emergency General Meeting by Gravatar(op): 8:07pm On Oct 03, 2021
The newly elected executive committee of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors just emerged from an emergency meeting where a vote was held by delegates to decide whether to end the strike, or continue.

The decision was made to call off the months long strike, due to moves made by the Government to address some concerns which led to the strike, as well as a different approach taken by the new NARD administration.

The bolded, oh yes you do. Once someone says that, most times that's always the case, we all have ulterior motives for what we do.

Yours is to get some sort of attention and recognition from the men you so look up to, ok boy, you've been awarded an attention medal, so stop stalking me now, ok?

Besides, how will I be trying to sell the Volvo brand to someone who already owns one na, he owns and loves it, hence his decision to go for another, so rest now, ok?

Notice i don't even need to make all this marketing noises anymore like yesteryears, the brand has sold itself and is the new darling of naija consumers grin cheesy
Lol, as expected.

There's a saying,

When the desirable becomes unavailable or unattainable, the available becomes desirable.

In Nigeria Volvos, particularly 2003 - 2009 Volvos have always been for those looking for cheap alternatives, that's a fact I know you hate people pointing out. You would prefer to push the narrative that Volvo owners in Nigeria are all about quality and safety, lol, na wash. Their money simply no reach for better or far more desirable equivalents.

The other day I saw a post where someone was lamenting about rising Toyota Prices, someone else recommended a Volvo equivalent, the lamenter's reaction was truly hilarious.

Of course Volvos dey enter market, who no like cheap things. Substandard chinese goods as well dey enter market, but at the end of the day if we're honest to ourselves, we all know the truth.

Anyway, that's by the way, whether you want to admit the truth or not. My point on this thread was simply to offer the OP an unbiased assessment based on his question.

The fact that you had nothing to say about that opinion, but chose to go the personal route, tells readers my assessment was on point, so kudos.

Sell your Volvos in peace, the money no dey enter my account so I no too send you.

Just don't misrepresent facts to make people make uninformed choices.
Car TalkRe: Volvo XC60, What Are Your Thoughts? by Gravatar: 4:00pm On Oct 03, 2021
All this fight no dey necessary, na egos and vested interests and ulterior motives dey cause the arguments above me.

One person dey sell Volvos, so he wan use style follow back promote im hustle. Nothing wrong with that, except when you give someone half information to create a wrong impression.

The other person often likes to be seen as knowledgeable in auto matters, which he usually is. However his ego is so substantial that he can often not distinguish between when to post, and when to just ignore.

To the matter at hand

ElRazur:
I am looking at swapping my XC90 for XC60. What are you thoughts on the XC60? How are the off road capabilities, reliability, price and general issues?

From what I can read, the engine to go for is the T6 and would love to hear from those who may have had hands-on or direct experience of the Volvo XC60.

Thank you.
I no get ulterior motive, so I can tell you a thing or two about some Volvo models.

Location and environment:

If you live in Lagos, my brother get the XC60. Though e just dey enter market small small compared to XC90, parts dey especially the initial models in 2010 and so on. You get XC90 so you suppose get network for Volvo matters.

However you mentioned off roading. If na all those perpetually flooded or very rugged Lagos areas wey need ride with good ground clearance and responsive 4WD, jump and pass over the XC60, e no go give you wetin you want.

If you live in Abuja, still get the XC60, but make sure say your current XC90 network go fit work for the XC60, including sourcing parts and doing repairs, I know some guys in Zuba and Apo wey be Volvo people. Again, if your Abuja na all dem Mararaba and Gwagwalada or Kubwa areas or areas wey need rugged 4WD, jump and pass.

If you live anywhere outside those states or regions, my brother jump and pass. You fit freestyle XC90 2.5l or the 3.2l in terms of parts and repair people in other random places, but I tell you say e no go work for XC60.

You be Olodo, I feel like telling you to geraot.

You are arguing over what you don't know.

So you don't know a V6 car has two rolls of 3 cylinders engine, while V8 has 2 rolls of 4 cylinders engine?

It is the way that they are arranged that gave rise to the "V" in their names.

Normally, they will write 4 cylinders meaning it has double of it.
Do you expect that car to have only 4 cylinders when v6 no get 4 but 6?

Chai, and I have been wasting my time arguing with you.

Abeg, go rest.
Lol, there is a word for the part in bold. The word is circumlocution. Using many words to try to confuse the person you're arguing with, that you're right and he's wrong, especially when you know you just scored an own goal and made a major mistake that defeats your own argument.

The Japanese refer to it as "saving face"

I've read all your posts on this thread, and the brutal truth is that you have a lot of half baked knowledge about automobiles, the kind of person that would see a Mercedes Benz vehicle on the road, then go home and tell someone he saw a "4Matic" car on the road.

The kind of person that would beat his chest and proclaim that "Benz no dey somersault", and that someone doing 140 Miles per hour in a Benz would be faster than someone doing 140 Miles per hour in a Corolla.

Go and enlighten yourself on automotive matters. Read to form objective positions on automotive issues, not to make all sorts of false claims and then be searching the internet up and down for posts by people like you, to back you up.

Either learn from my post, or let your ego prevent you from seeing the sense in it and attack the post, which would be in vain, frankly. No further responses from me.

Damaged my bumper, sand protector and some part of the rim.

Next time I will make sure I don't go above 100 with a corolla that's if there will be a next time with one.

And the breaking system is just so stupid and all. I wonder how corolla lovers cope
[/s]

Complete and utter garbage post. Deserves to be in the trash. Then again, considering your previous posts and your less than sensible comments and antecedents, one shouldn't expect anything reasonable from you and people like you.

You took a vehicle to the expressway, a definitely poorly maintained vehicle considering that you're the owner or driver, and then drove at speeds far above the designated speed limits, and the vehicle tyres had a blowout.

Instead of you to put 100% of the blame on yourself and your very poor decision making abilities, you decided to blame the vehicle.

Your life is just a good example of the saying "A poor workman quarrels with his tools". Every thread you make, you're putting blame on everything and everyone apart from the primary target of the blame, which is yourself.

Just take a look at the near bald tyres you decided to take to the expressway, I shudder to imagine just how terrible the condition of that car would be, with you as the owner. Frankly I don't care about you or about anything that happens to you because of your terrible decisions. My concern is for other road users and motorists who you may maim or kill with your senselessness.

My only hope is that you're the only one that would be affected if anything happens due to your lack of acuity, nobody else.

Will be waiting for your next thread where you blame Buhari for your wife not getting pregnant, or you blame your pot for your food not being tasty.

Nonsense.
PoliticsRe: EFCC May Go After Doctors For Fraudulently Collecting ₦540m Training Allowance by Gravatar: 7:15am On Sep 13, 2021
Most of the posters above me, and after me, I'm sure, obviously didn't read the article to understand, like typical Nairalanders.

Resident doctors in federal health institutions like teaching hospitals are ordinarily employed by the ministry of health, through the CMD or chief managing director of the hospitals. When such a resident doctor is recruited, he is given a postgraduate residency number.

However in some cases, the ministry of health accepts and approves waiver requests from the CMD to directly hire and employ hospital staff, Doctors for instance. The problem is, Nigerian civil service bureaucracy is legendary for its inefficiency and corruption.

It can take ages for the ministry of health to issue a waiver. So, many CMDs go ahead and recruit staff they need after submitting waiver request without waiting for approval, and add their names to the payroll and postgraduate residency allowance list.

So the issue here is that the federal ministry of health did an audit, probably in a bid to have something to go after the doctors on strike with. The audit revealed that many doctors with pending approval waivers were employed and had been receiving salaries and allowances.

So the Federal Government negotiating team is using that to blackmail the doctors into ending the strike and has asked them to pay back the allowances, claiming the Government would approve the pending waivers only if the strike would end.

The resident doctors, being Nigerians and with an understanding of the Government, have agreed to refund the allowances, but refused to end the strike unless the Government addresses the other issues they raised, satisfactorily.

Hence the standoff and all this sensational journalism.

Emancipate yourself from ignorance. The 4runner has a very specific intended audience and market, for whom that interior was designed. That audience is not very particular about stylish or flashy interiors, most people who buy 4runners buy them for their tough and road going reputation.

Could Toyota have packed all the gadgets into the 2020 4runner and made the interior flashy? Certainly, but it was a deliberate marketing decision.

Car Gurus in the house. I saw a friend's XC90 VOLVO and I fell in love with it. I intend getting one within the next few weeks. What is the pro and cons. what is the best year for me to buy. I would definately appreciate.
Most vehicles people request new reviews for have already reviewed before, search the section before you make a new request, I'd suggest.

chronos00:
"Better" engine is relative. An engine can be better than others in some categories, and be less effective in other categories.

The 2007 XC90 only has 2 engine variants. 3.2l I6, and 4.4l V8. The T5 and T6 engines were eliminated for the XC90 after 2006. There's also the D5 engine for 2007, but that's a diesel engine and wasn't available in North America.

The 3.2l I6 is capable for the XC90, puts out 235 bhp and adequate torque, gets the vehicle up and moving reasonably well. The fuel efficiency is also adequate for its weight and is comparable to other models in that category.

The 4.4l V8 is the top engine for the 07 XC90. Puts out 311 bhp, impressive torque for its size, and is the engine of choice for the active driver. Naturally the expected worry would be fuel economy in a V8, however the difference in real world fuel economy between the V8 and the I6 is really not significant, under normal, average driving conditions in everyday commuting.

Slam on the V8 throttle however, and all that changes. The increased V8 performance naturally translates to increased fuel consumption and lower fuel economy. The same applies to the I6 in spirited driving, but less so.

A vehicle is much more than just its engine, of course.

The V8 engine comes in the top XC90 trims, and typically has the most available options. AWD, third row seating, rear AC setup, pop up display, headrest DVD displays, etc. If you're lucky and find the V8 Sport trim, it's the Holy grail for the 07. Had fine leather stitching, blue backlit dash gauges, sport 19" wheels, sport exhaust tips, and other V8 sport specific options.

The 3.2l I6 typically is available in FWD, may also have third row seating and the entertainment options.

Both trims are mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission from AISIN-WARNER, which does a relatively capable job. Certainly better than the earlier T5 and T6, the latter of which was a well known fiasco.

In summary, your priorities would determine which trim would be most suitable.

Do you get upset and triggered when random vehicles accelerate past you? The V8 is the engine for you.

Do you enjoy engine baritone? That deep hum that shows up during spirited driving? The V8 is the engine for you.

Do you pay more attention to smiles per gallon, at the expense of miles per gallon?

The V8 is the engine for you.

Do you often traverse poor, offroad inclined terrain? The Haldex AWD would do you some good, though it may not be the most powerful in its class.

The V8 is the engine for you.
