Gbawe: You think you have made sense here or exposed contradiction? Buhari is not a strong man in the sense Obama means. He is a man with very strong will and convictions and those are the sort who build strong national institutions because they do what must be done and abide with such regardless of whose Ox is gored. Please can you give us more details on the steps Buhari will take to strengthen our institutions? |
Op thanks a million. |
alienYOUTH: I've noticed that when pple talk about Aliens, they always look at it from a human perspective and assume that these creatures will be Humanoid (have similar characteristics to humans), when even here on earth we have characteristics of living things that are already alien to our own ways. Fishes live & breathe underwater, still yet other sea creatures survive at ocean depths where d pressures & heat can kill a man. Most animals make and hear sounds that are below or beyond our hearing capabilities (ultra and infra-sound), other animals see beyond our color spectrum. This is the best post. Do aliens exist? Yes. The idea and belief that the universe was made for man is really limiting us, the truth is man is a product of the universe and the universe will continue to exist and create more life forms after man is gone. If our own milky way that contains about 6billion stars(suns) is just a grain in the entire universe common sense should tell us that the possibility of having earth like planets that support life is high. God did not create in 6 days, God is still creating and will continue to create, more galaxies are being created, more stars are being born, more planets are being made and more life forms are manifesting. |
I really love the speed at which the Anambra state governor is working, can't wait to visit Anambra state next month, I will really tour the state and see things myself. Chino my brother Na you create thread Na you come be FTC Na wah o, hope I will get to meet you in Anambra next month? |
I stay in the north and I am really disappointed the way the northern leaders are brainwashing the youths to believe boko Haram is a tool of the government against them. El rufai is just giving us a snippet of how many northern leaders reason. He didn't go all out because he was on Facebook. As it stands today PDP will beat APC with a landslide in a free and fair election, so what motive does GEJ have to assassinate Buhari? This is a fact that the big players in APC know but they keep making statements to incite the people. Our leaders should stop making statements that strengthens terrorisism and weakens our government and military. No matter how we deny it GEJ government is our government, the Nigerian government, the military is our military, the Nigerian Army, air force and Navy, their strength is our strength, their gain our gain and their failures our failures. El rufai and the opposition leaders should be winning the peoples mind by telling us how they intend to perform better. We want to know what they think of the revival in the auto industry, railway, road construction, aviation, agriculture, the economy. We want to hear how they intend to improve on these. We want to see their members taking a stand on policies that will move this country forward in the national assembly, we want their views on the PIB, local government autonomy, resource control, true federalism, fuel subsidy, tackling insecurity, education, health etc |
I have said it before on this forum that the report that 3 out of every 4 Nigerian is living on less than $1 is false. Common sense and imagination should tell you the kind of chaos that would be on the streets if that was true. I agree there is poverty in naija and I also agree that most of our state governors are not doing enough to reduce it but it being about 62% is a lie. I can bet you that poverty will fall below 20% in a space of 3-4yrs if we shift some of our attention on the federal government to the state and local governments. Until we reliase that these two tier of government have the most power to upgrade the living standard of the people , until then we all will be going in circles in our fight in improving the living standard of Nigerians. |
berem: Is there anything worse than Boko haram? FG should try to be smart biko!I think what they meant is that it will divide us faster than bokoharam is doing. Good move from the presidency but if you guys know where the girls are why is it taking this long to free them? Is there something our military and politicians are not telling us? |
SLIDEwaxie: I am a hater, but not part of mynd's gang...The idea of having the assembly plants here is not just to reduce price but also to create jobs and develop local manufactures. The price will definitely go down but the difference might just be about 500k to 1m of what we pay for those cars before. Good news, still waiting for the banks to come in, that alone will encourage more people to buy new cars. |
So in summary GEJ and all his cabinent members should visit T.B. Joshua, until that is done T.B. Joshua won't wave his magic wand for boko haram to become history. That you say something slowly and calmly does not mean it makes sense. |
OK I now get it. America wants to liberate us the same way they liberated Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and their failed attempt in Syria. We can see where their liberations have taken these countries to. There is one thing they should all know, GEJ is a democratically elected president of Nigeria, if he is a problem he is our problem, and it is our duty to vote him out if we are not happy with him. Hardly do we read comments from notable american press condeming boko haram, all has been how the presidency and our army is weak, taunting our military every move and thereby making boko haram stronger. |
chinchong: u think d les blues play like walya antelope? fget am doz people wl beat nigeriaonly time will tell. |
bin gbagbo: the hurdle for nigeria...why not this way First France Then Algeria Then Brazil An African team must get to the semi final. |
Great write up, but you failed to acknowledge that the Fayose factor was majorly responsible for the win in ekiti and not totally on the peoples rejection of APC. We really need an opposition party, it is good for our democracy, but APC really need to get their acts together, they are pesently doing a lot of things wrongly. You don't need a soothsayer to tell you there will be a major shake up in the APC, the question is will this shake up make them stronger or weaker? Only time will tell. |

No thanks, I will stick to YUZEDO's prophecies for 2014. |
Sincere 9gerian: She should ignore the propagandists because of their motive. Motive matters in all that we do. Their motive is politics and if she joins the fray again, they'll keep coming with more questions. There is no clarification that she provides today that will satisfy the propagandists. Just like the armoured car controversy- in spite of all the clarifications, APC e-warriors still uses it as propaganda tool till date. When the politically charged atmosphere calms down, she can decide to clear her name.sincere 9gerian, if really this accusation against her is true, then the honorable thing to do is resign. Some people will rejoice over it, but in the course of winning a war your are bound to loss some battles. If true, then its a pity this is a battle she or GEJ can't win or else it will hunt them for a long time. |
Thumbs up to one of the guys that makes nairaland thick. |
Merry Xmas to all nairalanders. God bless the good people of naija. God bless GEJ. God bless my dear country Nigeria. Good move by the president. Let OBJ provide his evidences, we are watching keenly. |
Jamey Maxwell: Iz this not [GRADE A+ CORRUPTION] am seeing here.if I may ask, how much do you think the presidency should spend on travels both local and international? |
I have always said it on this forum, " underestimate GEJ to your own peril". I have read the letter to OBJ thrice and with every read my admiration for GEJ grows. The reply is a masterstroke, well thought out and perfectly executed. I give it a 9/10. |
kel4soft: The OP copied and pasted an article from Vanguard and the first comment goes like this.yes I got it from vanguard and decided to share. I am interested in what is going on in the states, our local governments are almost non existent. I am not from bayelsa so I will be happy if people on ground can inform us better. |
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/12/gov-dickson-transforming-bayelsa/ The last time I was in Bayelsa was two years ago for a project. I visited Yenogoa, Odi and some towns along the Odi axis from Odi waterside. I was really shocked by the neglect and deplorable state of infrastructure. Recently my friend who is handling a project in yenogoa told me of the massive construction going on now. We have been so engrossed with what is going on at the presidency that we neglect the states, where (my own opinion) most of the looting is taking place. Please can those in Bayelsa confirm and upload pictures. |
Works and Infrastructure Commissioner in Bayelsa State, Hon. Lawrence Ewhrudjako, speaks on how Governor Seriake Dickson has turned the state into a huge construction site. Excerpts: What has the Dickson administration been able to put in place so far in order to develop the state and attract investments? Well, what His Excellency, Governor Seriake Dickson, has put in place is quite massive; massive to the extent that all the facets of development and tourism have been well greased by the governor. I say this because even in the tourism sub-sector, there is a lot of work going on there. We are developing our infrastructure in two categories: what we call the social infrastructural and then the investment infrastructural development. The investment infrastructural development is intended to attract investments while the social infrastructural investment development is undertaken as a duty and obligation of government, which has a duty to provide social amenities to the people of the state. In that vein, we have the Outer Ring Road, which is under construction- the outer Ring Road is like the Nnamdi Azikiwe Road that is around Abuja and the essence of the road is to decongest the Yenagoa City Centre so that people are not held up unnecessarily. To ensure that that is achieved, we are developing another six-side profiled roads; we call them Road 24, Road 30, Road 38, Road 21, Road 27c, Road 31 and Road 28. These roads are all emptying from the Isaac Boro Road, which we are dualising into the outer ring road so if there is traffic congestion anywhere, you can just sneak through any of the dualised roads into the outer ring road. What we are doing in Yenagoa is that all internal roads have dual carriageways. We have taken note of all the single-lane roads in the capital and we are going to expand them because some of them are less than six metres. All we want to do is to construct standard 8-metres road across the capital so that we can have standard drive ways, walk ways, flowers, street light and drainage. For the investment infrastructural development, we are building an airport at Amassoma and we are also building a deep seaport at Agge. To ensure that the hinterlands are also taken care of, we are constructing the Three Senatorial Road. One of the roads is the 38-Km Oporoama Road, which we started early this year. Already we have done four kms with asphalt and 6.6 kms with stone base and 9.8km sand filling. At km 15 of the road, we are putting a major bridge that will be crossing to Oporoma. So with that, we are sure, we are opening up that part of the state for investment and development. Towards Bayelsa West, we are doing the Tororowa-Ekeremo-Agge Road. On that road, we have achieved 3.5 kms of sand filling and they are working hard to do the first level of asphalting. We are stockpiling sand for them to backfill and quicken the work. After that we will take the next road to ensure that all the three Senatorial districts in the state are provided with major roads that will open the areas up. What is the state doing to checkmate crime? We are also providing adequate security across the state because we cannot do anything without security. Synonymous with development is peace and security and we have consciously built the Integrated Security and Command Centre, which will enable us to monitor what is going on across the state and we are also installing Closed Circuit Television Cameras in all strategic places in the state. There is already a law that may compel all hotel operators in the state to mount CCTV cameras in their facilities to monitor what goes on in those places at all times. You know that before now criminality was walking on the streets of Yenagoa but today, that has been effectively contained by the present administration of Governor Seriake Dickson. So nobody can commit a crime in the state and successfully hide away. So in terms of infrastructure, the government is laying a very solid base in the city and across the state. We are also constructing two major flyovers in the capital, Yenaoga to ease traffic and make life very easy for road users. In the next few weeks we are going to pay compensation to those whose houses have been affected by the flyover project. We are going to pay over N1.2 billion to house owners, whose details have been worked out. It is quite huge because the area is built-up already. I can say that since we came into office, we have paid over N3.4 billion as compensation to enable us to undertake our development projects. We are having two problems in the course of development of infrastructure. The first is difficult terrain that makes our cost of construction very high and built up areas which require payment of compensation to demolish and build. So in terms of preparation, I think the necessary foundation has been laid in the past one year and we are building on that foundation. I believe that in the next two years given the speed that the governor is going in his silent revolution in infrastructural development, a new Dubai would have emerged in Bayelsa State. The Impression outsiders have is that there is only one road in Bayelsa and the rest is water. So what has the administration done to increase accessibility to and from Yenagoa? We have done a lot. First, the Outer Ring Road is one and the other is the road to Amassoma. We are constructing a bridge at Torogbeni, which has 12-span. Work on the bridge is progressing and once the water recedes, more attention would be paid to it. Before the end of March, that road would have been completed. That road will take us strait to Sagbama. We are not going to have only one road coming into Bayelsa. We are going to have three roads into Bayelsa. Even the Glory Land Drive Phase 2 is part of what we are doing to open up another vista from which you can get into Yenagoa not necessarily from Mbiama. We are trying to diversify the roads through which one can access Yenagoa, the state capital with ease. What are you doing to industrialise the state? We believe that after putting a conducive atmosphere in place, the investments will roll in. We have done a lot in terms of attracting investments. There is no week that passes without the governor receiving requests from groups and individuals for investment. We are looking at investments from two fronts: tourism and the oil industry and agro-based industry. As we speak we have established a starch production plant in Eberebiri and a Cassava farm, a banana farm, and green farm and an aquaculture farm for production and export. We also have plans to revive our palm estates. We have put up at least 50 houses in each of the Local Government Areas and major towns. Within Yenagoa, we have three major housing estates and the Golf Estate that is coming up for the big players and a tourist island. In case of power generation, the state has just signed a contract with IPP America for the generation of additional 120 megawatts of power to add to what we have. We are also looking at power clusters scheme with hydro electricity. |
smartchoice: Not my sister....Abuja Hospitals are something else...that federal staff hospital close to Baze Uni is another story entirely with Ghost consultants!my apologies. |
Sir I feel your pain, why? Because I too have lost someone so dear to me, someone who completes me to the carelessness of our doctors and nurses in our health institutions. Mine was at the national hospital abuja. I understand your anger towards the government but even when the government provides this institutions with the best of equipments like they have at the national hospital, the manner in which the staff of these hospitals carry out their work is nothing to write home about. We live in a country were selfishness reign supreme, its in me its in you, its in everyone around us. My brother we really need to start working on ourselves as Nigerians and also speaking out for the voiceless. Anger can't bring back my wife or your own sister, but we doing the right thing will save someone's wife or sister. God strengthen us all. |

Most of these folks are still alive, most of them still want to be relevant in the running of this country after all they have looted. The present ones are currently looting theirs, from the local government chairmen to the state governors( who are the worst looters presently but for some reasons Nigerians are more concerned with the presidency) to the presidency. Iyabo obasanjo I agree with you, a people deserve the kind of leaders they get. |
One thing our politicians have perfected is how to play on the mind and intelligence of Nigerians. The game plan is simply, raise dusts and raise more dusts. |
“He explained that revenues from crude oil liftings are in various categories, namely Equity Crude; Petroleum Profit Tax, Royalty, Third Party Financing and the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC. Revenues from each of these categories are statutorily collected by different agencies of the government. The NNPC collects only one of the aforementioned categories, namely Equity Crude. Petroleum Profit Tax is collected by the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Royalty goes to the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, Third Party financing goes for Research, Development, Program and Satellite fields Development, while NPDC goes to NPDC for upstream development.wisdom is profitable to direct. |
Its a memorial service for goodness sake, not dinner or party or jamboree. What does it cost to hold a service in a chapel in aso rock? Why are you all claiming that millions was spent? Na wah for una o! It was a great service, noticed that even after arriving the country from paris around 12 midnight Goodluck was at the service before about 60% of those that attended. Great speeches by the speakers especially that of bishop kukah. My prayer is that Goodluck and all our politicians emulate Mandela and drop this politics of hate that they practise. |
gregg2: Hypocrite!this message is approved by me. Let me also add the local government autonomy bill. |
Happy belated birthday, wishing you many more fruitful and prosperous years ahead. |
