Ahh, I actually spoke with someone that currently studies in Belgium and he told me it's admissible, I just came here to confirm his claim, now I'm confused

Are you going for bachelors?

Then use Waec, but if you don't have it; use neco...

As long as your school accept the neco result then you can also use it for embassy processing...

If you are going for masters?

Then it is not important as when going for bachelors...

Check up on a blocked account provider like fintiba or Coracle.

Then you sign up and transfer money from your local bank in Nigeria to provider's registered in your name.

I'm going for Masters and its NECO that I have, is it allowed?

If you are going for masters you need your bachelor's certificate not Waec.
If it is neco you have then include it in place of Waec.

If you are going for bachelors you need your Waec certificate!

Hi secretkeeper219;

So you wanna hide your source of ill gotten wealth so as to make it look like a genuine hustle?

It is very simple.

We will use the academic way to pull this through after all parents just love the academic way grin

What course are you studying in the university?

What level are you actually in?

Now do this;

1. Find a scholarship that relates with your course of study

2. Get a good graphic designer or Photoshop expert to create a certification of acceptance in that scholarship

3. If you can't find any scholarship, then just create one then send to your email.

4. Make sure you have everything set up well

5. Then one day in your room at maybe 5am, just shout out loud and start dancing grin

6. Then they come in and ask, with tears in your eyes you show them your phone and explain on how you have written or apply for a particular scholarship in UK, USA or whatever country.

And after 3 months, you qualifed with a sum of 3 Million or whatever amount suit you tongue

7. That's when the difficult part comes in;

Prove that what you said is true!

I am sure you don't need me to put you through this na, as a certified scammer; It is your talent....

Good luck smiley

Hello @ebuka10box and other posters,

Please forgive me if my post comes across as being rude; I couldn't just hold it seeing young Nigerian graduates choosing the option of going to UAE to hustle while there are other viable options that could be explored. I understand that there is nothing wrong in hustling, starting small from any particular country, but my concern is just that the same amount of energy and money put into this UAE struggle could be channeled into one of the options I would like to discuss here. Again, I seek your apology if you have tried this and it did it not work out. My opinion (which nobody asked for in the first instance) is that hustling in the UAE as a young graduate should be the last option.

Now, any Nigerian that has a B.Sc degree with a First Class, Second Class Upper, or a strong Second Class Lower and has personal conviction about their academic ability can write the GRE, and an English Proficiency Language Exam (TOEFL, IELTS, etc), if required, and apply to a school in the USA for a Master's or PhD depending on what academic level they wish to stop. Luckily, most schools waive the English Language requirements for Nigerians. Same thing applies to HND holders with Distinction, Upper Credit or a strong Lower Credit. The only difference is that holders of HND would need to do a credential evaluation using World Education Services (WES) or any other accredited credential evaluation bodies in the USA so that their HND certificate could be analysed as being equivalent to B.S. After graduation, depending on your degree, you have between one and three years visa called Optional Practical Training (OPT). If your course of study falls into the Science,Technology.,Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) category, your work visa is three years. While non-STEM is one year. Paths to H1B visa and permanent Residency is another thing, but focus on crossing the bridge first! The difference will be very clear compared with hustling in UAE; young Nigerians should avoid any form of 'quick fix approach', with respect to traveling abroad, which may lead to a long term struggling and suffering!

There are many schools in the USA, carefully search for one ,two or three that accommodates your profile, apply for admission, seek for Graduate Assistantship position( it often comes with full funding and a monthly stipend that can cover take care of your daily expenses if you are that prudent). Apply for student visa(F1-Visa). You can follow the USA Students' visa thread on nairaland here. It has more than enough information to excel in this approach. Guys are always around to answer questions. It is simply a Do-It-Yourself thing. I was a product of this, and today I'm in the USA, planning to move to Canada due to family consideration.

Trust me, you won't spend up to 600k for your applications, GRE or TOEFL(if you chose to write it). This approach, I think is much better, and should be tried first instead of going to UAE . One does not need to be a child of a millionaire before studying and living in the USA; it takes knowing the right information, personal commitment, dedication, and self determination to get it done. UAE should be the last resort if you fall into the category of students I earlier mentioned.

This post is not meant to be rude to anyone, please. If it sounds so, I seek your pardon. The reason I put it up here is to inform those that might not be previously aware of this basic and simple route. Information is power. I got to know about this information I am putting here in 2016, and I landed in the USA the following year. If you have tried and it did not work out at certain stage, try and ask more questions on the USA students' thread here. The answer to your questions (breakthrough) might just be waiting for you. Peace unto everyone.

NO, it is just a mail to say a decision has been reached on your application. That's about it. The decision could be an approval or rejection which you wouldn't know until you get your passport. You just have to hope for the best.

@Basalt...this is my advise to you and even steps i recommend for you to take

***Pre requirement{- Stay extremely focused on your mindset, goals and your study and get your permanent residence immediately)***
1. find a good place of worship where you can worship on Sundays and also serve for 1hr every week
2. Take a long walk for 30- 45 mins when you are free and think of your best life situation.Ask yourself questions like what, why on country you would like to live, what specific kind of job you would like, what kind of life, what are your dreams etc...( you get my drift: what , where, how, why,how when etc)
3. once you get home write down all that you thought about and all the answers. then create 3 groups- today ( 1-6 months)- short term, 6-24 months (short term), 3 to 8 years (long term)
4. Print this and keep it on your wall and on your phone with daily reminders ( This is your vision board)
5. Research trades like painting, plumbing, electrician, construction etc. Choose one and invest in yourself by acquiring this skills either night school etc) Join Quora, Reddit nairaland, etc and spend 1 hr daily learning
6. Continue studying hard and commence networking and making friends with diverse people..preferable with immigrants or children in your community. Be friendly and have an open mind...ask questions from your new diverse friends..Continue your work hustle and stay focused.
7. Start creating a budget based on your earnings and keep trying to increase your earnings. 5%= Food .20% = Living expense 50% = savings10% = Offering
8. Save up and buy the land . Think of how you can create additional income streams
9. Plan ahead and revisit your vision board after 1 month and make adjustments
10. Keep increasing your earning by adding more side hustles with income generating assets e.g. buy a van for delivery or Watch you tube and learn how to paint. Advertise online as a painter.
11. Visit the library once a week and read books on financial literacy. 2 books a month (Rich dad, poor dad; millionaire next door, millionaire roadmap, millionaire landlord)
12. By 8 months of doing this you would have a clearer vision and would be able to make better decisions and navigate better
13. Start applying for volunteer and internships 3 months before your course is finished
14. Start your own side trade business while applying for jobs in your field
15. 1 year before your visa expires..start making plans for your next step..Apply to express entry canada or uk or usa or south africa
16. invest in real estate in any where you find your self
17. Open your eyes along the journey and look for a female partner who is God fearing and has similar mindset wo you can marry. She would help you build.
18. Build that property in 9ja over 3 year time frame( 3 or 4 flats)
19. Be kind and keep being positive despite challenges that would come your way along the journey..learn from it and move on.Help people as you grow

I'm not sure there are a lot of stand-alone PhD in Data science programs in the US, so I'll be assuming that in general they are housed within the Statistics program. Under this assumption, the only hard math (hard being relative) you will be required to take is measure theory - it can get a bit nasty if you're not given to abstract reasoning. So I think it's safe to proceed to a PhD program with your European BS.

Thanks
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by GreatMage: 5:24pm On Dec 10, 2020

It depends on the school and the program you're interested in.

From what I gather, most programs in the US will allow you enrol in a PhD directly with a BS. I personally do not recommend it if you're interested in a very complex program such as the types you'd find in Physics or Maths or Chemistry, say - unless of course, you got your degree from a US or Canadian or Western Europe or Chinese college (this list is not exhaustive). For all programs in Engineering, Statistics etc, you shouldn't have much of an issue adapting. Please be mindful that I am writing from the perspective of a STEM graduate.

I am in the STEM field...

Data science and my degree is from a European country...

I have some time left before I am made to leave and I was considering the USA doctorate

There's a reason why a PhD in the US is for at least five years. It is because the programme contains both requirements for the Masters and PhD together. The first two years usually qualifies you to earn a Masters. For those who decide not to continue in academia, they can simply drop out after two years and earn an MSc, MA or whatever masters. I dunno if I'm making sense but it's not as if you are skipping Masters and going straight to PhD, but it is just that the way the US does it is that after undergrad (BSc, BA, et al), you just apply for PhD programme in which the Masters requirement is part of the PhD. Somewhat different from UK and Nigeria, but still the same when you consider the fact that Masters is about 2 years and the PhD proper is 3 years in UK and Nigeria.

I fully understand sir.

If indeed he was denied admission due to low GPA, it must be the case that his GPA from his last 60 credit hours did not measure up. Overall GPA is of little import when it comes to graduate admission.
