This is the transcript of the speech I delivered at the 2017 Chemical Engineering Spring Banquet in Fayetteville, AR on May 4, 2017. The audience of about 150 people comprised of Professors, graduating Chemical Engineering students (Bachelors, Masters and PhD) and their friends and families.
I flew in last night and it brought back memories of the first time I flew into XNA. I was expecting 8-lane highways, high-rise buildings, high-speed trains…just like in the American movies I saw back in Nigeria. Instead, I came out of this airport, and all I saw were… cows. I felt like I bought the wrong ticket.
I remember seeing so many trees without leaves. The driver told me that’s why it’s called the Dead of Winter. “Don’t worry, it will get better.” Of course, it got worse. We had an ice storm!
I lived in Lagos, a city of 20 million. I’m used to seeing people everywhere. I remember my first day of class, I stepped out of my apartment and saw nobody. I didn’t think anything of it. I got on the street and still nobody! How can there be so much space with not even a single soul in sight?
But my most vivid memory was standing in front of Old Main and thinking to myself “I made it! I made it!!” Why was I so giddy? It’s because I almost did not make it. I almost allowed fear to kill my dream of coming to the United States, of getting a PhD, of pushing myself to the limit.
You see, I finished my Bachelors in Chemical Engineering with First-Class Honors, I won some competitive awards along the way and had an impressive resume. With my profile, I could get any job I wanted in Nigeria, move into a nice neighborhood and just enjoy life. Not bad for a boy that was raised on less than 50 cents a day. The problem was that I wanted more. I wanted to experience places I only read about in books. I wanted the highest academic degree I could get. I wanted to study here, and broaden my knowledge, challenge my perspectives, engage with the world…I wanted more.
The only thing that stood in my way was fear, the fear of everybody around me. Those closest to me didn’t understand why I would want to leave a guaranteed good life for an uncertain future. Arkansas?! Where is that? Do you know anyone there? Nope. Have you ever been there? Nope. Why not consider a bigger, more diverse city? I kinda like the program they got going at Fayetteville. These are just a sample of the questions I had to field from those genuinely concerned for me.
This back and forth was still going on, when, on the morning of April 16, 2007, a senior at Virginia Tech opened fire, killing 32 people and wounding 17 others. It was the deadliest shooting ever on an American campus. I remember the details of the massacre because almost everyone forwarded me the news. I now had a clear choice to make: allow the actions of a deranged young man to derail my dreams or move forward in spite of the fear? I am here tonight because I chose my dream over fear.
Attending this school ranks as one of my best decisions. I made friends here [that] I’ll keep for life. Some of them are in this room. This is where I fulfilled a long-cherished dream of becoming a Doctor of Engineering. And, let’s face it, what’s better than being a Razorback!
Look, your dreams will always exist side by side with your fears. Both of them are a product of your rich imagination. And you have the power to make one or the other a reality. To have life, to have liberty, to have happiness, you need to feed your dreams and starve your fears. What will prevent you from living the life you want is not lack of money, or lack of time or lack of talent. What will prevent you from living the life you want is a lack of belief in your dreams. You have to believe your dreams to make them real.
People ask me how I survived poverty. How can a poor boy with no money and no connections in an impoverished society make it? The answer is surprisingly simple. I dream. I DREAM. The life I lead today is the product of my dream yesterday. I am dreaming right now of the life I want to lead tomorrow and I will not let fear dictate what I can or cannot become.
The most pernicious fears are not those of others but those that come from within, those that nag at you at every turn, seeking to paralyze you into inaction. As I was completing my program here, I was suddenly faced with the realization that I had spent my entire life in school, from Pre-K to PhD. [But seriously] I had been told about how real life is different from school; and how the school system does a horrible job of preparing students for success. Somehow, I took these well-meaning but misguided opinions as self-evident truths. On one hand, I was happy to be finishing my PhD; on the other, I was afraid, afraid that, perhaps, my best years were behind me.
But I have always dreamt of going into the oil and gas industry. Nigeria has plenty of oil and gas so it was a childhood dream. Here again, my dreams came face to face with my fears. I could go into the industry and fall flat on my face or I could stay in the familiar academic world. I have many brilliant friends who finished a PhD, went on to do a post-doc and took up a position with a university. It’s a great career. It’s just not my dream. If I followed their footsteps, it would be out of fear. And you can never have a great career based on fear.
It turns out my fears were unfounded. Work is very much like school. At school, you do your homework and receive a grade. Same thing in the office. In school, you take many classes at once; at work, you will have several projects simultaneously. More important, when you pass an exam, you are promoted, then given a more difficult exam. It will be the same at work. It’s actually better at work because each promotion comes with…privileges. I might have stayed in school forever if I get a big bonus for passing exams! So do not cast away your confidence which has a great recompense of reward. Don’t let anyone scare you that you are now entering the real world as if the last four years weren’t real. Real world is surviving homework after homework while still having time for friends, family and Bikes Blues and Barbeque.
I have a career, today, that only existed in my imagination just a few years ago because I fed my dreams and starved my fears. Is it possible that I could have gone into Corporate America and failed? Absolutely. But I have made a lifelong commitment to acknowledge my fear without catering to it. I have made it second nature to nurture my dreams because that is the only way to turn them into reality.
Friends, you are moving into the next chapter of your life. And I would be surprised if on some level, you are not afraid. The unknown can be scary. Fear during a transition is natural, even expected. But don’t let fear factor into your decisions. Move as if you cannot fail. The odds may be stacked against you but you can beat the odds. People beat the odds every day, why not you? Let your dreams be the driver, taking you to places you have only been in your head. People ask me if I consider myself fortunate. Yes. I have been fortunate to be bold. Fortune favors the bold.
When you have kids, you watch kid movies. Last week, we saw one from Disney called Zootopia. I can’t tell you what the story was about but a few lines from the sound track stuck with me. At various points during the movie I heard the words “Try Everything; I’ll keep on making those new mistakes; I’ll keep on making them every day.” Disney just distilled my entire message about dreaming more and fearing less into three sentences. So to the class of 2017, I say: Try Everything; Make New Mistakes; Make Them Every Day. Thank you.

zazawaga: In an ideal world, you’d probably arrive to every interview five to 10 minutes early. This amount of time sends the signal that you are serious about landing this job, but also don’t wish to inconvenience the hiring manager.
But sometimes life happens and even though you did everything you could to get to the office on time, you hit traffic and that cushion time turns into a 25-minute delay. And before you know it, you’re Googling, “How to make up for running late to an interview?” while you’re sitting in gridlock.
As frustrating as this is, most hiring managers understand that sometimes, things just happen. But as empathetic as they can be, they also don’t like being left in the dark. So, the next time you’re running behind, give the template below a try.
Oh, and if you’re worried about it working, know that it’s inspired by one of the best messages I received from a candidate who was going to be late for an interview.
1.Template for People Who Have a Good Reason for Running Late
Hi [Name of Interviewer],
I’m so looking forward to our interview today, but wanted to let you know that [your reason for being late]. In spite of this, I anticipate arriving at [a time based on your best guess for how many minutes behind you’re running].
I apologize for the inconvenience and completely understand if this new time does not work with your schedule today. If that’s the case, would you be open to rescheduling? I’m available [provide two or three times and dates] if that would be more convenient for you.
Thanks so much, [Your Name]
2.Template for People Who Just Overslept
This sounds great, right? Well, what if your reason for being late isn’t any good? What if it’s because you overslept, or you drove in the wrong direction for 20 minutes, or the Danfo driver chose that day to forget to buy fuel or just maybe LASTMA decided to put up a show?
If that’s the case, you’ll want to be careful just how much you share. And in fact, I’d err on the side of saying less so you don’t paint yourself in the wrong light.
Here’s a revised template for those times when it’s your fault:
Hi [Name of Interviewer],
I apologize for the inconvenience, but I’m running late to the interview today. I shouldn’t be longer than [how many minutes you’re actually late] behind.
While I’m still very excited to discuss the opportunity, I completely understand if this new time doesn’t work with your schedule today. If that’s the case, would you be open to rescheduling? I’m available [provide two or three times and dates] if that work better for you.
Sorry again, [Your Name]
3.Template for People Who Didn’t Say Anything in Advance
OK, now what if you were late for no-good reason and didn’t have time (or even think) to send this note before you met. No fear—you can still make up for your tardiness in your thank you email—assuming of course, that you apologized upon arrival.
Try this out:
Hi [Name of Interviewer],
Thank you so much for taking the time to meet with me today. I wanted to apologize again for being late, it’s completely unlike me and I truly appreciate you still taking the time to meet with me.
I know this must’ve been an inconvenience to you, but I’m even more excited about what I learned about the company and the role today.
[Insert specifics about your conversation and reiterate why you’re both excited and qualified for this role.]
Thanks again! [Your Name]
There’s no silver bullet message to send when you’re running late to an interview—but regardless of the reason, giving the hiring manager a heads up will never hurt. It not only says that you’re aware that this isn’t OK, but also that you appreciate the hiring manager adjusting their schedule to meet with you.

kingvectorv: You need to understand that the post title you choose for your copy is just like a newspaper headline. It either grabs attention or it doesn’t, and I’m sure you want your headline to attract as many people as possible. 1. Focus on solving a problem, not selling something. The first thing to do while creating an eye-catching headline is to focus on helping. If you check out most of the articles ranking high in Google, you will find that their focus is mainly about helping people solve a particular problem. Remember this: Your headline will always perform better if it is helpful.
2. Come up with many ideas. There is nothing more important than the your headline, they attribute to the success of your blog post. You have to select a headline that seems more promising compelling, and attention-grabbing. When you write a blog post, write lots of headlines before choosing a winner. You can use a headline analyzer to help you out. The more you do this, the better and more professional you’ll become at crafting great headlines.
3. Keep a swipe file. A swipe file is a collection of different headlines that have already proven to work for others. This helps you get inspiration when you need to come up with a great title. A good example of this is the Jon Morrows Headline Hacks eBook. With this book alone, I’ve been able to write consistently better headlines over time. You can always use your swipe file as a source of inspiration to write good headlines whenever you’re lost or stuck. According to Brian Clack, swipe files can’t even really be considered cheating. It’s just the way it’s done if you want to write effective copy, especially when starting out. Only once a copywriter has a true understanding of what works can they take a completely original approach. Even then, it’s pretty rare to come up with a gangbuster headline that is 100% unique. Using these templates can ultimately increase the effectiveness of your blog post titles, and hence, the ultimate read rate of your blog posts. Start gathering good headlines from across the web. Start to pay attention to the things you click on and WHY you’re clicking. Figure out what works and then copy the model.
4. Use numbers (preferably odd numbers). Several pieces of research have proved that using numbers in your headlines tend to get 73% more social shares and engagements. What’s more is that addingspecific numbers (like data) to your headlines is a good way to make the title more exciting to your readers. One of the major reasons why using numbers in headlines works is because numbers are like “brain candy”. This is to say that the brain is very receptive to numbers. I also want you to know that there’s a science behind odd numbers. Odd numbers tend to perform better, and that’s why you often see blogs using odd numbers in their headlines. Research carried out by Content Marketing Institute discovered that the brain seems to believe odd numbers more than even numbers. It was also discovered that odd numbers help people digest and recall information more easily. When they tweaked one of their headlines to include the odd number “7”, the click through rate increased by 20%. 5. Include positive words. Using positive superlatives in your headline will help make it more emotional. This will, in turn, make it more enticing and attention-grabbing. Some positive superlatives that will enhance your headline writing include: Perfect Funniest Best Biggest Always Fastest Easiest Most Greatest Largest Hottest Strongest Ever Top
6. Use negative words to highlight fear. Fear is a strong emotion which can make anyone take action on a given task. A study carried out by Outbrain found that headlines featuring negative superlatives performed 30% better than those with positive superlatives. Some of the negative superlatives you can use include: Never Worst By No Means Nothing No One No Way None Also, using words like Stop, Avoid, and Don’t in your headline is a good idea, too. Examples: “ Stop Making These Silly Blogging Mistakes“ “The 5 Worst Excuses For Not Living Your Dream Life”
7. Make use of brainstorming tools. The availability of tools on the internet has made most tasks easier and less time-consuming. There are tools out there that you can use to help come up with great headlines. If you have tried all the other methods mentioned here but still can’t get a thought-provoking headline, then try using some tools to help. Examples: Coschedule Headline Analyzer Pr Headline Generator Finally, keep on tweaking and learning how to write attention grabbing headlines, and soon, you’ll become a master one day. Take them to the beach Workers day is a public holiday in Nigeria. You can invite all your workers and support staff for a beach party at Elegushi among other beaches in Lagos. Ensure you give them a treat!

Send them solutions and remember to put ur company links (affiliate links) at the end of such advices (you will be getting your own commission as soon as they are buying it). Then when you have gathered enough emails with time (building your reputation among them). You can later sources for another product to promote. Just download their emails from your box and send a mass emails to them telling them to check this new products out (your new campaign).

I said trap them from your Facebook to your mail box by offering free advice and asking them to contact you in case they need more of it. Whenewver they contact you, give them a good advice again (Google and good PLR articles can always supply you with answers to problems). And below your advice ask them to check out your company products (your affiliate link) that it will perfectly treat/cure/provide solutions to their problems and always remember to instruct them to get back to you after checking out the products.
Facebook will not allow you to market some of your affiliate links on your page and those that they allow they will always make sure it doesnt see enough exposure thereby forcing your arm to buy their paid adverts.

So get you facts right okay. No affiliate earning big makes his major from free traffic.

#1:Choose the Right Market Idea
Find out what people are already looking for online. Then sell it to them. Too many beginners ask the wrong question. They say, “I Have this product, how do I sell it?”
Wrong question! A much better question is, “I have this list of potential of customers I can easily reach, what should I sell them?”
It seems everyone is looking for a market where there isn’t any competition. That may have been possible 10 years ago, but it’s not today. No matter what market you enter, you will have competition. In fact, if I don’t see any competition in a market I get really nervous. It means all the competitors most likely couldn’t build a successful business. The best case scenario is when you find a market with a lot of competitors who all do a poor job. Then you know you have an open market.
Since you’re going to have competition, you have to figure out what your unique advantage is. Why should a customer choose you over all the other options available to them?
#2: Prolific Product Development
Don’t build a business on only one product. Develop multiple products and services for your audience. Which one is safer, earning $50,000 a month from one product or earning $5,000 a month from 10 different products?
Go for the base hit instead of the home run on each product. It’s hard to tell which product is going to be the big winner, but if you’ve developed 10 products one or two of them is much more likely to become that big home run winner for you.
But the problem is how do you develop all these products? You have to develop a system to do them quickly. Research your market to find out what they want. Create it quickly. Get it out there and selling. Do it again.
#3:The Truth About Traffic
Let’s now do a little correct to that big question on every marketer’s mind. “How do I generate more traffic?”
Wrong questions produce wrong answers. And it’s not just traffic you want at your site. A much better question is, “How do I generate more BUYERS at my website?”
It’s not the traffic that’s important. It’s the quality of the traffic. Let’s say one site gets 100,000 visitors a month and another one only gets 500. Who is more successful? You can’t tell from just that stat. What if we add in that 100,000 visitors a month are coming from a site such as Digg which generates traffic quickly that is often quite unresponsive to any offer? And what if the site generating 500 visitors was a real estate agent who focused only on selling million dollar homes to relocating executives?
So that’s why you must quit focusing on “generating traffic” and start focusing on generating more buyers. So how can we send more buyers to our website? Lots of newbies are focusing on generating traffics and i just feel for them because sooner, they will get frustrated because their traffics are not buyers and without buyers there wont be sales and without sales, there wont be paid out commissions to you.
You need traffic. Earning a good income requires a good product, excellent conversion strategies, and quality traffics to your site/affiliate product store.
If any of those 3 elements is missing, you’re going to miss your income goals. The one most people drool over is traffic. It’s what they lie in bed thinking about at night. How can I get more traffic?
I think the motto of most beginning online entrepreneurs is… “Show Me How to Get Traffic!”
Method #1:Pay for Traffic
You can pay for your traffic. The advantage here is many of these methods are fast…and you can roll out in huge numbers. Plus you’re in full control of the results.
Method #2:Generate Free Traffic
Let’s say you don’t want to spend any money, or you don’t have any money. You can still start generating visitors for free. Start a blog…If you haven’t yet, then you’re not planning on generating much free traffic. Sure there are other ways, but why in the world would you want to make your life harder? First one will allow you to include any html codes or links you like to use. But you can't write much words using that feature, if you write much you message would not be sent .
Second option will allow you to write in plain text. You can write a whole wiki or a whole textbook in it, but if you include any links or html codes the message will not be sent.
So which of the mistakes are you doing? I guess the second one, right?
NOTE: No one should include their affiliates links in their autoresponder. It will chase/piss your potential customers off, just do as if you are helping them and they will pay you.

Avoid any / all country that doesn't speaks English as her primary language (it is a red flag) especially the Indians, please if you see them don't only ignore them try to delete them because they will spam the whole thing you have labored to build.

I am using this management option because I stay in a place where there is no constant water supply. Fertilization of Pond water Fertilizers are natural or synthetic substances that are used in ponds to increasethe production of the natural food organismsto be eaten by the fish. These organisms includephytoplankton, zooplankton,and insects. They are all part of a complexfood webconverging toward fish production. By increasing the availability of major nutrients,fertilizers promote the development of planktonic algae, which provide food for many fish. Fish pond can be fertilized with two types of fertilizers. 1.Mineral or inorganic fertilizerswhich contain only mineral nutrients and no organic matter. They are manufactured industrially to be used in agriculture for improving crop production and they can be obtained from specialized suppliers or agro-allied companies. 2.Organic fertilizers, which contain a mixture of organic matter and mineral nutrients. These include poultry droppings, pig faeces, cow dung, rabbit faeces e.t.c I used poultry droppings for the fertilization of my pond. See the video demonstration of how to fertilize pond. Stocking with fingerlings of Clarias gariepinus When I wanted to stock my fish I removed three-quarter of the pond water which is now very green and filled up with clean water. The reason for this is to reduce turbidity and light penetration into the water. The Catfish I want to farm is the African Catfish scientifically known asClarias gariepinus. I now introduced the fishes into the pond water. Feeding of the fingerlings I fed the fishes three times daily; morning, afternoon and night. For the first three weeks(April 4th- April 25th) the fishes were fed 1mm of extruded(floating) fish feed rich in protein content. In the evening of April 25th, I started to feed the fishes with 1.8mm feed and that is what they are eating up till now. The video below is me feeding the fishes. Flushing of Fish pond(partially changing pond water) Although I use the semi-intensive culture of catfish where algae is allowed in the pond water as supplementary fish food and source of oxygen, it is important to flush the pond for a number of reasons. 1. Water changing remove excess nitrates, heavy metals (which will just concentrate if the pond water is only replaced through evaporation). So reducing like three-quarter of pond water and refilling with clean water will reduce the concentration of this compounds. 2. Flushing of pond reduces pond water turbidity which impedes light penetration into the pond water. This turbidity is usually caused by high concentration of organic matter in the pond. 3. It reduces algae boom; a condition in which the green algae becomes over-populated in pond water and harm the fishes by greatly reducing oxygen content of fish pond water. 4. It also helps reduce the foul smell that might be coming out from the fish pond. Other points to note: Always examine your fishes well and make sure they are well fed with the best feed at the fingerlings stage.

In both ways you are going to win. Why? You see Facebook works in a funny way,immediately I like or share your post it will be seen on my own timeline and if some of my friends like or share it too it will also show on their own timeline and so on the trend will continue. Some of those who sees the post will send you friends requests though you can accept or decline, but your objective have already been made because anytime you update your status those who have one time or the other like your post will receive notification for your new post.
