Hello Nairaland Family! Been awhile I visited. Congrats to Bigfido, and to those who got their PPR and jobs.

I have had 3 weeks of lectures and it is not beans. Been immersed in my books, especially in my statistics course where 98% of the terms are new to me. While everyone in my class has a basic knowledge of the course and is progressing fast, I have to deal with my insufficient knowledge of the course. Enrolled my humble self in a virtual class , paid some cool dollars for it and I am making significant progress and will gradually get there before my first test on the course.I have obtained at least 4 degrees in Nigeria,, yet I was not taught all these. It is well with Nigerian Education.

Started driving here and it has been very helpful especially with taking the children to the Daycare and bringing them back home. We also got some discounts. Government is paying the bulk of the money while we pay the lesser fraction . Oga is preparing to leave for Naija. *sobs* . Hoping and praying my parents get their visas so they can help me out with this school runs as I have tests and assignments almost every week.

Not going to get a job now because I can't cope with job/school/home now. Until I have a support. I am hardly online these days but you are all in my heart.

NB: This shouldn't stop you from coming with your child/children. You too will be fine.

Hey you? I just sent a message o but

I saw somewhere that you can't access your email. Your number suddenly disappeared on whatsapp? Whatappen na? Anyways, glad you're settling down as I read here. Be safe!

***UPDATE***
.

OMG grin grin grin I laughed and laughed until I clearly remembered how frustrating the wait can be. But on the flip side, na2 is very funny coz its quarter to ppr. My na2 never changed I just received update from na2 to send my passport though my application was 6months old already. It seems na2 doesn't take time what does is the ppr email. They hold in to it for people within the timelines to clear backlogs.

Just be patient and sing the new popular song in town "ppr fall on you", "copr fall on you" coz canny 's in love with you he".
cheesy

Just engulf yourself with job strategies, houses, ticket search while you wait. Or join the majority of Indians in canadavisa and at least laugh at their English grin

Hi fellas,

We are gathering our documents and we should be uploading soon. Please answer the following questions...

For the police certificate, its (multiple) for the both of us... I stay here in Canada and my husband in Nigeria. He hasn't stayed outside Nigeria for more than one week. Does he need a police certificate? If no... why did they put multiple... confused.

Then do I need police certificate since I still stay here?

Thanks always

Because the Nigerian police certificate is more than one page. So it's multiple pages required to upload.
Hope that helps.

And the silly poverty stricken mentality figurehead called Governor Fatai is busy buying luxury cars for palace chiefs and building half kilometre bridge in Gari Alimi where we don't need it, putting up useless bustops on roads filled with potholes and manholes while building 7star hotel and malls for himself.

I swear until we youths know the power is in our hands we will never be delivered! We are here on nairaland doing NCAN and "fainting". How I missed the OLD NAIRALAND!

PS. I know mokwa-jebba is a fed government road BUT there could've been an agreement or concession between the two arms for ease of citizens but no, they prefer to ease and fill their pockets! I mean! what's the benefit of the state being in Apc fold.
I'm just so upset with the negligence everywhere even on the part of we the youths,we are all part of the problem.

For the sake of cost, I am looking out for the program at the Bachelors level in a Nigerian Federal University.

Now in university of ilorin also.

At the departure lounge, I was shocked that in the year 2017, I was given a small form to hand-fill my luggage tag shocked with pen!

Even passenger luggage were measured with bathroom scales

The airport banner "Arrivals" was as tiny as something written with an eye pencil.

Dear PYO, please look into these too. Its very embarrasing cry

All that is still manageable na!
Sometimes in November on arriving MMA, we moved from the plane to the arrivals through one mysterious tunnel, as we entered we were greeted with the stench from the lavoratories/laterines we call convenience .... OMG! I wanted to faint... But guess what that was just a tip of the "mount Kilimanjaro"

The whole place was DARK... as in pitch dark.... We had to use our instinct to navigate through, some people fell down coz they didn't see a stair that end down, this almost caused a stampede... Our papers were checked with phone torchlight by customs. The icing on the cake is that me as a citizen of Nigeria was held in a queue of about 300 people for over an hour all in the name of stamping our passports, while foreigners had their own queue moving at fast as my eye blinks.
Imagine this when you're coming back from a country where you were in minority but things work so well you were accorded with respect.

PLEASE SOMEONE REMIND ME THE BENEFITS OF BEING A NIGERIAN.

it's all messed up!

[quote author=lastimmigrant post=54635441]Please, can anyone help with any info on this? Any at all?

I don't see any problem here at all.
Let her start the process and stop trying to disqualify yourselves from the beginning. One step at a time!

When she gets ITA, let her Put in her LOE how she got the money... I suggest small jobs, savings and returns from investment and her source. She doesn't need a gift deed if her average is very okay like you said. Her inflow is good enough.

PS. No one can authoritatively say she will or will not be Disqualified for anything at all except the obvious.

Hi.I work with a government research agency. If i apply for a PPR,will my application take longer than those working in the private sector? Also if i have an official trip to make during the wait, and i require my passport how will i go about it?

Last one,If my application is successful and i'm granted a PPR,but i want to stay in Nigeria for one more year-will my PPR be retracted?

Hi,

I only have an answer to your last question, it won't be... As long as you land first... You can come back to Nigeria... Stay a year or two before finally moving.

In the post you quoted, I stated that I or no one here can say how long it will take... I'm also getting a hint for the first time that working with govt can slow down your application. I don't have answers to your other questions as I'm in the process myself.

Cheers.

@greetings its hard searching foryour posts , whenever i put greetings on the search engine it shows where everything on greetings . you seem to have aot of insight. did you work in goverment was your ppr delayed ?

Lol cheesy
You have no idea, the mention per day is on the average of 100.... It's crazy. I never esperit.

It's not up to six months but many people that submitted after me have gotten ppr. In fact a friend sent a message yesterday to particularly ask why the delay. Now it's making sense, lots of those people have gotten the request are working in private sector.
No one can tell you how long it will take, coz there are several factors involved. It's only past six months that you can raise inquiry.

Everything will be in God's time.

Please anyone knows how to update my address? I've filled the case enquiries form and it's almost a month now... Nothing has been updated on my profile.

I think so. I made the statement cos most of the people that did not get their PPR within 6 months had worked with government or military before. They made enquiries and realised that it was security checks that delayed their applications cos they had to do further security checks on them. I am guessing maybe to ensure they are not government spies.

Please note that, I am not saying this was the case for everyone that had ever worked with government. It also depends on where your application is processed and your country of residence. Most of the people that fell victim of this had their application processed in Ottawa. Some of them have waited for over a year and are still waiting.

Chai! No wonder.... I'm plusing one and two together.... This one na long thing o...
Damn!
Thanks a bunch.

Good advice!! If you add NYSC as government, your application might take ages as I heard they conduct more detailed security checks for government workers.

Hi, dupyshoo.
Does it mean peeps working with government have their application more scrutinized? I'm going somewhere with this....

If he/she is claiming a gift deed from his/her sister, the acct details of the sister is not required. Just the notarised gift deed and applicant's 6 month bank statement and bank reference letter.

Well that was how a landed immigrant adviced me.... Remember they work with your documents... It's better to cover all tracks, giving them minimum reason to contact you requesting for clarification.

Again, It's up to you, it's an advice.

Thanks seen. But do i need to provide the statement of account of my sister giving me the gift deed?Pls respond.

Yes, you can start from just where you started the transfer to your own account.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by greetings(f): 11:48pm On Mar 04, 2017
lastimmigrant:

1a. Use your savings account.. It's fine as long as it wasn't opened recently.
b. It's advised to notorize your gift deed.

2.since you don't have pay stubs, you MAY wish to print statement of your salary account just to show proof that you get paid for work done. It doesn't matter if it's zero balance, as long as there's cash inflow from your employer.

3. I don't get why you would want to include this but if for PCC purpose and you have spent an ACCUMULATED time of six months in both or one of them.. Get the PCC from the country.

4.i don't know much about this but.... If at the time of submitting your application it doesn't get in... Write a LOE as to why you're submitting without It and also show proof that you have indeed applied but haven't been issued one.... Maybe people who are familiar with this can help.

5. No need...

6 no one can really give you a LOE format.... It's more of a statement or explanation.... Just writing a small note to explain your situation. You can write one LOE and outline what you want to explain... A lump sum. If your inflow is good... You may not have much problem until you have a lump sum that doesn't tally with your regular inflows... Those can raise suspicions.... Do well to write a good LOE on how you got whatever you feel is a lump sum and attach any supporting evidence ....

Pseeeww!! Note that I'm not a guru in POF matters, this is from my personal experiences and opinions.

Goodluck.

I am preparing a gift deed to submit with my application.I have some questions on this though:-
1).Do i have to notorise the gift deed?
2).Do i also have to address the gift deed.ie To:-CIC
3) I did not intend to use a gift deed prior now,but after printing my statement, i noticed that majority of the inflows were transferred via my sister's acc.(this is the ac i use to save my funds because i have access to it).The funds have been in my ac for 6months and were transferred in various tranches from my sister's ac.Pls clarify, do u tink i should still include the gift deed?Pls assist me with a response.

1.You should notarize it.

2.you don't need to address it to CIC... Go online and see many sample of monetary gift deed and modify to suit you... I've made a sample if you want. It's just plug in..

3.its safer to make a gift deed or you could write a LOE, stating that you saved using her account. But I hope you can also explain how you got the money you saved.
If you use a gift deed.... You will still have to state how your sister got the money and how she's capable of granting you such money print her statement and add.. And lastly fix the money and get the FD certificate and scan as part of your POF.

Cheers.

[quote author=peppers post=54269500]

Prepare and Persevere, in this canny journey you must have those two things... If you don't .... You will never reach your destination.

If you think all the landed immigrants here got it on a plater of gold, think twice. They all had a plan and when the plans failed or didn't go as it should, they persevere and make a quick decision and plan again.

You have age on your side, many people don't.... IELTS is a determining factor in this race. If you know your level of English is not very good and you can afford it find a tutor or a mentor. ... It's very achievable to have 9,9,8,8 and ..if you hit the right score, you may add about 50points your score.

Give yourself 10 weeks to practice and have a study plan... It's not how far but how well. Point out your weaknesses in each section and work on it... Measure your progress and then aim higher.... the thing is IELTS becomes a culture as you practice making you more confident.

I noticed your writing and speaking giving you problems but you should exploit it coz its subjective. For everyone out there struggling with IELTS, choose a mentor who has done excellently well. Go through this thread and the IELTS thread on NL.. Ask for tips and tricks and be willing to learn.

I was also in your shoes once but I made it, it's all in your mind... Finally I'll leave you with this quote that launched me into writing again then.

"Wanting something is not enough. You must hunger for it. Your motivation must be absolutely compelling in order to overcome the obstacles that will invariably come your way."

Les Brown.

If you want send a pm, I'll send you a write up on tips and tricks.... Sorry, I can't post it here.. It's quite long and personal.

Cheers.
