Nihilist: Conte is not a joke though, and he said it was an amazing Debut for the French man. Forgive me if I choose to align my views with Conte(And Redknapp) this time instead of you.... C'mon old pal, these are differing views, we don't war over them. I guess only time will tell which camp got it spot on. |

Nihilist: This may be true, but I have also posted plaudits coming in for the Frenchman from respectable media houses like the Guardian and Football365. Whoscored.com rated him higher than both Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
In anycase, the point is very clear. While you and Ibime are not impressed with Bakyoko, there are several other pundits, statisticians and observers of the game who do not share your viewpoint, and believe that Bakayoko had a solid debut yesterday.
Antonio Conte described the debut as "Amazing". If your concern is around the qualification of the person making the comments, then Conte's high praise for Bakayoko should satisfy your needs....and it certainly satisfies mine.
However, if your concern is merely that Jamie Redknapp is not qualified to speak fullstop and so bakayoko is undoubtedly rubbish, well, then I have nothing else to say like Jose Mourinho. It's just the last paragraph. The man is a joke that must not be taken serious. Every pundit is entitled to their view, so I will leave it at that. |

SOMEONE JUST COMING FROM INJURY,IN A NEW LEAGUE WITH NEW TEAM MATES.... AGAINST TOTTENHAM OF ALL PEOPLE.
NA WAOOO! You guys think like toads. What has coming from a new league, playing with new mates and against Spuds got to do with Bakayoko being technically inept? So if Danny Shittu who is a renowned useless defender joins Chelsea and nets three own goals in a match, i shouldn't criticize him because he is just joining his new team? |

Nihilist: Your feelings are your feelings and while you are entitled to them, I am not. I saw enough of a completely unfit Bakayoko, fresh from knee injury, to be completely optimistic about his chances and what he can bring to the game.
Jamie Redknapp is not a Nairalander and he considers Baka an upgrade on Matic. Daily Mirror is not a Nairalander and they consider Baka an upgrade on Matic.
Ibime is already about to the pay the price for denigrating Bakayoko. If you too fancy sowing a seed into somebody's life, you can add some financial backing to your convictions - I'm sure somebody would appreciate partaking in the profits from cobhams business.
Bakayoko is here to stay. Bye bye to jatijati, katikati, radarada and any other descriptions for Matic. Jamie Redknapp just like Daily Mirror is a failed project. There are few knowledgeable British pundits out there, believe me, Jamie is not on that list. He doesn't have a mind of his own. Behind his horrendous gaffes, disturbing tight trousers and, of course, that gut-wrenching Thomas Cook advert, I gag watching his football. Same man that asserted that: 1. "Gerrard makes more runs into the box than anyother player." 2. 'Roy Hodgson has never worked with top players." 3. "Xabi Alonso was sensational spreading the ball to Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard that day" (Recalling Liverpool famous 4-1 thumping of Manyoo at Old Trafford in 2009). Funny enough, Alonso missed that game due to injury. 4. "I honestly don't know anything about him". Jamie's thoughts on Ac Milan's Pato, who by then was a Brazil international and renowned rising star — in November 2009. . . .and just last year: 5. "Victor Moses is a young British talent." Etc etc etc . . . An important quality in any pundit is their observational skills. Beyond the obvious lunacy in Jamie's statements, his football sucks. If he comes out to say Bakayoko is an upgrade on Matic, I'll take it that a clown is out to entertain his audience. |

Emaprince: Only thing I see in this Bakayoko is his speed. Nothing else.
For a midfielder, he is so technically poor. How can he recieve the ball and not turn without losing it? Yesterday he looked like a blind man to me.
He is only good in pushing the ball into space and running past everybody. Awareness, foot-work and confidence no dey there at all. He fails to read the field well before receiving a pass (awareness), and when the pass eventually gets to him, it's either it's bouncing off his boot (foot-work) or he is forcing a run when he should be switching play or making a simple pass (confidence). I learnt these basic things years back in Pepsi Academy, it amazes me that a pro like Bakayoko no even sabi them. |

BlueAngel444: Since it's obvious Chelsea played a defensive game yesterday let's forget the attacking side of it that had very attempts
Andreas really handled EPL's best striker Rudiger was pretty amazing and quite fast
Those slide tackles, quick recoveries and pull outs
Then Luiz the transformer, from defence to attack and vice versa
Rwb is covered, Marco alonso still needs a back up (Ox who can play both wings and wing back)
With the way Rudiger played and with two more games, Chile might just retire early to the bench for a while So we should rather read this sorta Oil Mill Paper Stand analysis instead of arguing about Bakayoko whose ball control is as bad as Aba roads? I give up. |

Nihilist: Conte on Bakayoko versus Spurs:
‘He had an amazing performance but for sure he can improve. He needs to adapt to our style of football.’
Case Closed. I am yet to see a manager who speaks bad about his players' performances. Praises and undeserved eulogies is always the way to go. That said, the damage has been done already. Let's just hope that this guy comes good, albeit that'll be miracle. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Griffon: 9:16pm On Aug 20, 2017 |
Nihilist: Knee injury is not a fitness issue. And the man just had his two knees operated on. I'm sure he was rushed back to play this game out of desperation and I can bet anything that he played this game with some lingering discomfort.
I'm sure you can appreciate what impact a knee injury can have on the simple task of walking, let alone trapping ball.
And even with that, he still did better than Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen according to Whoscored. Im happy with that debut. It was solid. timbros: You shouldn't be asking this when we are talking knee surgery. Except that this isn't a flaw we just noticed today, we raised the alarm even before Chelsea got linked to this guy. Griffon: With Bakayoko joining, I honestly would expect our team technique to go weak in sustaining possession passing. So the idea would be to stay compact, get to soak the pressure, find the attackers with the long ball and let them smash the damn net!
We are building a team that's going to be difficult to beat both in England and Europe. Ibime: Griffon please keep eyes on Bakayoko and tell me what you think. Griffon: He was born for the break-up play, has the needed brawn to intimidate any player but the technical aspect of his game is quite suspect.
His ball control is a tad poor, not top class for a pro, he exposes the ball a lot. Then his vision is on the average too.
IMHO, I think his two biggest problems are maintaining composure when placed under pressure and indecision.
Before he receives the ball, he doesn't have his head up. He is always looking at the ball and as result of this, he fails to analyze the field quickly. When the ball eventually gets to him, he is already lost, get two men on him and I'll bet my testicles that he'd lose the ball. That clearly played out in Juve's second goal lastnite.
We don't need this nigga, he is scared of playing football. It's not always about the muscles, being technically adept matters too. Ibime: Oh God, Bakayoko is awful.
Please, please, please. I beg the powers at Chelsea not to even consider this guy. He even makes trapping the ball look like rocket science. Ibime: Whoever said Chelsea should sign Bakayoko should get a konk on the head.
I have better technique than him. I would rather bring any agbero from Naija league than go for this clown.
Please we should not make this expensive mistake. So baba Nihilist, the handwriting was on the wall even before your lad went under the knife. I don't know if you have the nigga's digits, but just in case you do, tell him to avoid these problems: Problem 1 – Ball path has been misread and he missed the pass. Problem 2 – Being indecisive when choosing controlling body surface. Problem 3 – Does not get the ball out of his feet and needs a second touch. Problem 4 – The ball bounces off his boots and control is lost. |

Ibime: I never liked Bakayoko since day 1 because I studied his game over the last year and learned he is utterly woeful at controlling and passing the ball. He done land now, and I won't stop talking about it. You should have seen how I hounded Ramires for the same thing on this thread for 5 years.
All this fitness, fitness talk means nothing. Fitness stops you running, not from controlling and passing the ball. Bakayokos running was just fine. What is not acceptable is for a midfielder to make 10 passes in 90 minutes. EOD. I doubt if most of our folks here plays football. Wetin concern ball control and fitness? |

Bakayoko was tasked with playing right wing today.

airmark: Bend the knees for what? He did well in an ultra-defensive side, with luiz doing well to shield the back three. Hate how he stupidly collected that yellow card. I will like to see him against mesmerizing attackers like his friend, perisic before i can say eureka. This is the thing with arguments on Nairaland. Mates simply argue without assessing the other party's stance. Last month when you were busy uploading GIFs just to shame Rudiger, here was the reply I had for you: Griffon: How some of you manages to drag a whole lot of gibberish to this board scares me at times.
So one GIF now defines a player's overall play? Like one particular action analyses a player's strengths and weaknesses? Mehn this is beer parlor punditry at its best.
I have seen RVP waltz past JT with relative ease, leaving our then captain for dead in an EPL game. I have also seen Ayew reduce JT to a belly dancer in an EPL game. If your beer parlor punditry is anything to go by, JT is simply a useless defender who defends stupidly innit?
Over the years, I have seen many decent defs who were unfortunate to fall for a player's guile and artistry. It had never been anything new and will never be anything new. Some of those moments includes; Senderos vs Drogba, Ferdinard vs Aiyegbeni, Ashley Cole vs C Ronaldo, Every Defender vs Ronaldinho, Puyol vs Di Maria, Boateng vs Messi, Luiz vs Suarez, Ivanovic vs Montero, Smalling vs Kante, Koscielny vs Hazard, Batra vs Bale and many more and more.
So why is Rudiger getting the sticks for his? You all would be making sense if getting mopped on the turf is actually a thing Rudiger is known for but unfortunately it isn't.
The nigga's weaknesses from what i've seen are delivering decent crosses and committing fouls. It's nothing near falling like a bag of cement when approached with the ball. His performances at the just concluded Confederations Cup speaks volume of the player he is.
Say NO to beer parlor punditry and analyse a player's strengths and weaknesses with more than one blip.
Moreover, Conte's backline is always that water-tight with enough protection guaranteed from the short devil in midfield, so why create a debate that doesn't even exist?
Despite being my nigga, I still have my fears about Rudiger and it's the one fact that he is injury prone. That is an angle y'all should be concerned about. The emboldened was asserted on July 11, you just woke up to that fact on August 20th. |
