And the reason why I cited nuclear weapons is because both sides (NATO and Russia) can’t afford to lose. Once it becomes more obvious Ukraine has fallen - I expect NATO to escalate to a place where Russia’s hand would be forced (despite the restraints it has shown thus far) - to do something big. So, never say never.

Afghanistan is different. That’s the country where empires are buried and no country can win a war there and hold it due to geography/ terrain.

And the book claimed the real will start with Russia nuking Birmingham, UK. And in retaliation - Minsk in Belarus would be nuked.

I would like to come back to this thread when Russia is finally humilliated out of Ukraine just like in Afghanistan.

Cuba was already a hostile country to the US. Ukraine willingly gave up their own nuclear weapons and many other weapons believing Russia wouldn't attack. Two different scenarios. Incidentally, many of the weapons given up by Ukraine went to Russia.

You can't dictate to another sovereign nation which organization they can join or not. This is where diplomacy and trust comes in.

Zelensky did not provoke the war. Russia invaded Ukraine first and took Crimea in 2014 and nothing happened. Did Ukraine also provoked that?
