Rolings:
The person obi is trying to overtake is Atiku...bacause he took second while obi third place.
The battle is between them. Can't you see BAT called just a witness.
Obi is hinging his case on Abuja 25%....no precedent yet so no one really knows how the court will decide
And Disqualifying Tinubu....settled that it's an internal party affairs not anybodys business how a party chose his candidate.
But
BAT main case is that PO isn't even a LP member so the suit from Obi is incompetent.. LP suit may be sustained.

However it goes....PBAT till 2031
APC's accusation that Obi not a member of LP in your thinking is not the same as
" it's an internal party affairs not anybody's business how a party chose his candidate."[b]

One of the opinions or fantasies you mean
You may call it whatever you like but one thing you can't deny is that Prof Acholonu had made an impact especially by raising angst among certain group of people . When In his younger years, Chinua Achebe read the 'The Heart of Darkness ' , he was not favourable to the ideas written in the book. Do you know how he expressed his discontent to Joseph Conrad ,the Author ? He wrote 'Things fall Apart' and it became a hit. So Bro I implore you once again, if don't like what Prof Acholonu wrote, write your own. Period.

Acholonu does not have WORK

She has self indulgent fantasy dressed up as scholarship that is pleasing to the ear of her kindred folk who need desperately something to feel good about
One of the facts Prof Acholonu put down in her works is that Lejja iron smelting site was the world oldest . If you don't have contrary facts to disprove her works , go to your village and dig up what your ancestors did 5000 years ago to prove her wrong . Until then , you have no right criticize her.

I think Electronic voting should be strengthen and given preference, while the manual votes remain as checks.

This would largely eradicate human interference such INEC chairman and RECs in the voting process.

The current 2022 Electoral Act clearly gave too much power to the RECs and INEC chairman in the collation process.

Such that Resident Electoral Commissioners can single handedly cancel votes of an entire ward or LGA and it will stand. no police reports, nothing. What manner of rubbish is this, who are those that passed this law? subjecting an entire state election to the hands of one human being the Resident Electoral Commissioners. This is where the major scam take place. We saw this play out in ADAMAWA state where the REC rigged the election in favour of APC candidate initially.

Secondly, that the INEC CHAIRMAN can operate with discretion like deciding to declare a winner without verifying electronic collated votes. is very very unfortunate and I'll intentioned. As we saw Mahmood declared Tinubu out of his discretionary powers in 2023 election. This is ambiguity the EU commission seems to be referring.

Who ever appoints we the INEC chairman and RECs is not the problem, because they are humans and in Nigeria they can be influenced by the Executive.

The solution is enforcement of full electronic voting. Such that when you're successfully accredited by BVAS, on the same BVAS you will be able to cast your vote electronically and proceed to cast your vote manually to serve as checks or keeps for agents.

After the elections, where there's issues of rigging, the vote cast on the BVAS becomes the first reference point, while the hard copy compliment as checks.

By going this route INEC chairman and RECs influence on election will be reduced significant or eradicated.
I agree with you as regards complete electronic voting but they will still find a way around it if the operators like the Chairman of the electoral body is not independent from the person who is in charge of Executive arm of government. We should be able to separate them from executive like in appointment and in budgeting of fund. Secondly when we have electoral crime commission, they will enforcement of punishment on electoral offenders. There are alot of loopholes in our electoral system that's why people rig with impunity and they tell their opponents to go to court.

I have read her works, and I don't even know where to begin to tell you how many bizzare claims she made. Should we talk about her claim that Heliopolis in Ancient Egypt is actually Igbo-Ukwu? Should we talk about her claim that the Igbo are over 500,000 years old, when we know from science and archaeology that Homo sapiens was not even here 500,000 years. Of course she based this last claim on the tentative dating of the Ugwuele hand ax factory to the Acheulian period, which is believed to have flourished hundreds of thousands of years ago. I say "tentative" because we don't have radiocarbon dates for the handax factory; the date is a guestimate. What Acholonu did not know (since she had no training in history or in archaeology) was that Acheulian artifacts were actually made by Homo erectus, not by modern Homo sapiens, let alone by Igbo people.

These are just a two of the countless bizarre claims peppered throughout her work. I don't even want to start with the pseudolinguistic games she appeared very fond of, which led her to claim that every language in the world has its roots in Igbo.

It's easy to understand why most of you are taken in by Acholonu. Academic proper history can be really dry. Then comes along someone who splashes a very liberal quantity of wild fantasy to a dry subject and sells to you the product. Of course many people will buy!
Good , we are all entitled by our opinions . Thank God you believed Acheulian artifacts were actually made by Homo erectus not by homo sapiens. But the same you don't believe the same Homo erectus had capabilities of socio-Cultural identities because the popular history said so. Like I said , Acholonu will be celebrated some day when we stopped viewing her works from ethnic prism .

Lol. Was she a family member? So sorry I had to be so blunt. But there's no other way to say it. grin

Her work on Igbo history have mislead many young Igbos into a false sense of their history. She should have stuck with what she was trained for, which is contemporary literature. For Igbo history turn to the professionals: Adele Afigbo, Ifemesia, John Oriji, etc. Leave Acholonu's fantasy books, because that is exactly what they are - fantasy.
Mislead you say? I don't know if you have read her works , I have . Perhaps I am one of those she 'mislead' . Prof. Acholonu chose not to follow the popular "history" handed down by the colonial masters. And I tell you her works were more organic albeit; well researched and based on archeological findings . It's not popular now but Someday we are all gonna be "misled".

Perhaps anyone in doubt should research more from Wikipedia about Okpogho whose inhabitants manufactured the first known metal money thereby ending trade by barter in the ancient world.According to Wikipedia: "a town Okpogho is one of the most ancient cities in Africa located in Enugu State of Nigeria. Okpogho is well known for her distinguished strides in iron smelting which ended the world's trade by barter system. The originality of Okpogho could be traced from earlier ancestor called Ezeanyanwu.
Wikipedia went further to explain "
Ona Okpogho (OnaDoo or Ona Okpogho)Edit

In the ancient times, the Manilla branded by the colonial masters.[3] Copper and Steel bracelets and leg bands were the principal 'money' and they were usually worn by women to display their husband's wealth. Early Portuguese traders thus found a preexisting and very convenient willingness to accept unlimited numbers of these 'bracelets'.

A report by the British Consul of Fernando Po in 1856 listed five different patterns of manillas in use in Nigeria. The Antony Manilla was good in all interior markets; the Congo Simgolo or 'bottle-necked' was good only at Opungo market; the Onadoo was best for Old Calabar, Igbo country between Bonny New Kalabari and the kingdom of Okrika; the Finniman Fawfinna was passable in Juju Town and Qua Market, but only half the worth of the Antony; and the Cutta Antony was valued by the people at Umballa.

The Onadoo was largely made of steel by the experienced Okpogho Blacksmiths who then shipped them to Calabar. Calabar was the chief city of the ancient southeast Nigerian coastal kingdom of that name. The word and the name Okpogho was indigenous to our people, the adoption of Okpogho as an Efik word for money was related to the use of the Ona-Okpogho instead of their "okụk' or "ọkVk" in trades. The word 'okpoko' is synonymous with 'money' or 'brass' in several West African languages like Calabar, Efik, Ibibio, and the Bonny New Kalabari and the kingdom of Okrika.

The universal name for manillas, which are an ancient form of money or barter coinage, is Okpoho or Okpo[g]ho. Manillas originated at Calabar but not from Calabar and 'okpoko', or 'okpoho' (only mispelt for convenience) is the term for money or brass spoken at all the trade borders and river-banks where trades are executed."
You can check it yourself.
