Durentt:
how do we expect nigeria to move forward when we giv banking jobs to engineers?
Tis sad but thats the reality.
While i was in the industry, i was in a 28man dept, 13 engineers. 3 mechanical engineers(i was one of em), 1 production engr, 1 agric engr, 4 electrical engineers, 1 civil engr, you get the drift?
And only one economist and 4 accountants in the group.
It was not an anomaly, it was a norm in banking. And it went all the way up to the extent my group head a GM was an electrical engr too.
It puzzled me too, but it helped me settle in.
I have left now sha
And oh! Only one maths graduate grin

undecided engineers outnumber any single discipline in Banks? undecided undecided undecided ehn?So wrong a vindication basically due to the fact the opposite appears to be the case undecided Even a banker would giggle hysterically at this statement.
Reason is actually very simple, engineers excel at the tests banks conduct. But i will drop the line with you. If you don't know don't argue. I mentioned the UBA MD, did you check? The current Zenith bank MD, engineer too.
Lots more like that, but you would rather argue

coolNice one
But I pinpointed a loophole in your post. What do you mean by Engineers dominate the banking sector undecided undecided undecided That's more or less a conjecture which's bereft of any justification to back up the claim.Pls,try making assertions without sentiment.I suppose you said that by virtue of the fact you're an Engineer. What happened to the bankers, accountants and the economists in banks? huh huh huh It's just tantamount to saying "Geophysicst rule oil industry" owing to the fact they can work there, but we know the truth still remains, oil sector is being ruled by engineers, petrochemical in particular.
Besides, the mandates of engineers in bank is limited, they only do auxiliary work undecided undecided
And you're so on point with that fact about programming you cited.Even me wey dey study pharmacy sef fit do programming. undecided undecided undecided
Engineers actually outnumber any single discipline in banking.
Banks hardly employ "economists", and you will find lots of high level bankers have an engineering background negating your assertion that engineers work on the periphery of banking.
My GM was an engineer, current MD UBA engineer. Lots and lots of examples. How ever, you hardly find maths grads

@op
This isn't a shade at anyone who has posted already, but do not mind people telling you to go with maths, the people who are surprised to hear you studying maths when engineering is available, they are not mad.
As an engineering graduate, i worked in a bank for a while, truth be told, engrs dominate banking, while no other discipline crosses over to engineering. And as far as i know, no you cannot just waltz on a do an msc in engineering with a maths degree.
If you know you can switch, switch yesterday, infact switch last week.
But be mindful of what one other poster said, if you cannot make a 1st class or at worst a 2.1, DO NOT make that switch.
These people are deceiving you kiddo, maths is limited in Nigeria oh

Mind you, all these people talking about moving international, engineering is still a better prospect abroad too. Anywhere in the world, engineering will fetch you a job before maths.
And any tom dick and harry can program angry

THANKS, but no thanks.

That was the overwhelming response from an army of tongue-in-cheek Twitter users to the Islamic State leader’s latest call for Muslims to join the group in Iraq and Syria as the militants struggle to combat enemy forces on the ground.

On Sunday a Twitter account linked to the terrorist group released a 24-minute audio recording of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s latest propaganda offensive. In the message the IS leader assured the group’s supporters all was well despite being under siege and on the back foot in the Iraqi city of Ramadi.

In his first public transmission since May, he also said the group was surrounded by enemies and called on ad to join the fight in the Middle east.
grin grin
“We urgently call upon every Muslim to join the fight, especially those in the land of the two shrines rise,” al-Baghdadi pleaded in the recording, according to Muslim activist Iyad El-Baghdadi who posted English translations online.

However when implored to trade in their end-of-year holiday for one of the world’s most violent war zones, many Muslims didn’t quite see the pay-off.

Instead many said they would prefer to go shopping, to the beach or see the new Star Wars movie.

Even those who weren’t extended an invitation offered a helping hand — albeit a similarly sarcastic one.
