A year ago, actress Lilian Esoro-Franklin and music mogul, Triple MG record label boss Ubi Franklin, tied the knot and it's been all roses, love and a baby since then.

Yesterday, October 30. Ubi Franklin opened his super-duper Restaurant and Bar, TiltTerrace and it was well attended by friends, fans and well wishers. But noticeably absent was his beautiful wife Lilian.

Someone drew our attention to Lililan Esoro's page, and we couldn't help but notice the actress hasn't been wearing her wedding ring for sometime now. In addition, she is currently in Paris with their baby, and she didn't promote her husband's new restaurant on her wall.

A'rese, The Voice Nigeria Winner's N7million SUV


Winner of the maiden edition of music reality show, The Voice Nigeria, Agharese Emokpae, popularly known as A’rese just had her car, an SUV stolen by individuals posing as government officials.

A’rese emerged winner of the competition which started with 47 contestants, after beating the last eight contestants. She was awarded a recording contract, the now missing SUV worth N7 million and a 4-night all-expense paid ticket to Abu Dhabi.

Taking to her IG page to share the shocking and embarrassing news, she posted a photo of the stolen vehicle and wrote what you see below:

Grammy award winning Nigerian-British singer, Sade Adu's transitioning daughter is documenting her journey to becoming the father she never had. Last month Mickailia 'Ila' Morgan, announced on Instagram that she’d started taking male hormone injections.

Ila, a lesbian with a white girlfriend, started taking male hormones to “transition” into a “man” by inducing male characteristics such as facial hair, body hair, a deeper voice, etc. As can be seen below, she can now boast of a straggly moustache, no thanks to the injections.

Inset in the first photo below, we see pretty Ila, before she decided she wanted to become a man.

In recent times, there has been a marked increase in transgender advocacy, with many in the western world encouraging young people to be 'true to themselves' (whatever that means).

A blog reader shared his very pathetic story as a warning to people who go to Dubai to seek greener pastures. More often than not, migrant workers end up with demeaning, back breaking work. And if you aren't lucky, you end up being scammed of your hard earned money. Like the man in this story.

I lost my bank job December last year, tried to find another job for a while without success. I gathered my remaining savings and even borrowed more and left for Dubai in search of job only to end up in a construction company that subjects the workers to subhuman treatment.

I tried to leave the company to find a job elsewhere but they won't let me. I contacted some people for help without success till the editor of UK based Independent offered to help.

The bad publicity my story generated forced my company to let me go, but they refused to release my passport on time for me to find another job and I was given only 28days to either find a job or leave the country, according to UAE labour laws.

They released my passport only 16 days before the expiration of my papers and so didn't have much time to look for work and so I eventually ended up in an even bigger scam/sleaze, a phoney company that specializes in scamming people of their hard earned money.

I saw their advert online in a job board so I called, they invited me for an interview so I went, after the 'interview' which I passed, they said I had to make a refundable security deposit of 1000aed, before they could process my offer, when I asked why; they said some people don't show up after they start processing their visa so the money would act as guarantee.

I agreed and sourced for the money by all means because I was already broke then. To make matters worse, I equally informed other job seekers about the company and so many people paid them through me, after passing their 'interview'.

Shortly after, they issued us job offers which I verified from the UAE ministry of labour website and because of this, so many other jobseekers believed the authenticity of the company because they told us they just won a contract to provide office assistants and security men in different companies so they needed enough manpower.

As we were waiting for the visa, after signing the offer letters, my papers expired and so I had to leave the country, to come back when they finish processing.

Before I left, I told them my predicament and they assured me that my visa will be out within ten days, now it's over 2 months I came back to Nigeria and not even a word, I asked someone to go help me check the company only for him to tell me that their office has been locked.

Now I'm holed up here, so sick and I just feel like ending it all...

Justice Suzzette Nyesom-Wike said this on Sunday at the 10th Biennial Diocesan Women's Guild Conference Thanksgiving Service of Anglican Diocese of the Niger Delta North at Saint Thomas Anglican Church in Diobu, Port Harcourt.

"All women have been through a lot as they strive to build the society . Our contributions to societal development cannot be underestimated.

I belong to the kitchen, I belong to the living room and I belong to every room created by God. So also other women. We are created by God to do more. In my own case as a judicial officer, I also belong to the courtroom. Other women belong to different rooms, depending on their professional calling" she said.

Yesterday, Oba Ewuare ll N'Ogidigan ascended the revered throne of his ancestors to become the 40th Oba of Benin, succeeding his late father, Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolopkolo, Oba Erediauwa.

The photo below of the newly coronated Oba puzzled many people.

Why was the Oba covering his mouth? It was obviously a cultural act but what was the significance? Even his wives covered their mouths.

I did some investigation and found out the following:

The Oba usually covers his mouth because when he talks he is the supreme authority. Whatever he says is final.

People talk on his behalf most of the time and whatever they proclaim becomes the Law with immediate effect.

A friend of mine who is a painter said he did a painting of the old Oba and it was rejected because it depicted him smiling. According to tradition, people are not supposed to see the Oba's teeth so he doesn't smile.

His wives covered their mouths as a sign of submission.

Don't you just love our culture? So rich and varied!

A Kano-based Islamic scholar, Mallam Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, has called on banned Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau not to honour the invitation extended to her to visit the Hollywood in Los Angeles, USA.

In an open letter he wrote to Rahama on Facebook in Hausa, Mallam Daurawa described the problem the actress had with Kanywood as trial from God to test her faith.

He added that Islam agrees with people being told to mend their ways when they make mistake.

He also suggested that marriage would be better for the actress.

Rahama Sadau was suspended from Kannywood after the release of a music video in which she hugged the musician Classiq.

After her suspension, US-based singer Akon and movie producer Jeta Amata extended an invitation to her to visit the set of their new movie in Hollywood, USA.

Remember Adeniyi Okubanjo and Lara Akinyemi who were classmates in primary school, lost contact and later reconnected on Facebook in 2009? Niyi had his eyes on her since primary school. He vowed that he would marry the first girl he dated and that person turned out to be Lara his primary school sweet heart.

Over the weekend (14th and 15th October) they finally wedded in grand style. My good friend Moji Delano, who was one of the bridesmaids at the event shared photos from the joyous occasion.

The 23 year old lady in the video named Jessica, was arrested for blackmailing a married lover of hers whom she succeeded to videotaping butt nekkid after they had sex in a hotel. She threatened to send the video to the man's wife unless the married lover paid her.

The game plan worked and the man sent her N185k but like all blackmailers, she got greedy and went for more. That was when the guy went to the police. The pathetic thing about the whole issue is she wanted to buy an iPhone with the money. Smh.

In a series from the Atlantic, a Nigerian girl named Toluse Akinlabi talks about her experience living as the only black person in her community in Ireland. Some people who had the misconception that Africans live on trees were often shocked to find out she could speak English fluently.

Hi there! My name is Toluse, and I’m 22 years old. I was born in Nigeria and lived there till the age of six. We then moved to Lesotho, then moved on to Cavan, Ireland, where I’ve been since the age of nine—that makes it 13 years that I’ve called the Emerald Isle home.

Despite this fact, though, it can still feel like I’m a stranger here.

When I first moved here in 2003, I couldn’t understand why people kept being surprised that I spoke English fluently, that my parents both worked in the medical sector, and that I loved Kylie Minogue as much as the next person. The fact that we were middle-class Africans, and not refugees or asylum seekers, seemed like a shock to the system for many of the people in the small town we lived in.

To their merit, some people did try to make a conscious effort to be sensitive and normalise the fact that my siblings and I were the first and only black people in our school. I remember doing some colouring with classmates in my first month at school. Amanda said “pass me the skin colour” (what I would call peach), and Gillian replied, “you can’t say skin colour, because that’s not everyone’s skin colour.” Gillian will never understand how touched I was by her defence of my reality.

I can’t say I’ve ever encountered aggressive racism, but I’ve certainly experienced a number of microaggressions because of my skin colour. From guys asking if I taste like chocolate and declaring that they can “handle” me, to people asking where I’m REALLY from after I state that I’m from County Cavan. It’s like they don't understand how it cuts at a person when you question their identity with no other basis except for the fact that their skin has got more melanin in it.

I am Nigerian and I’m Irish; I can’t twerk, but I love Nicki Minaj; I braid my hair and I play field hockey; I speak Irish, Mandarin, and Yoruba. I am not just “that black girl”; I’m Toluse Akinlabi—phenomenal woman, that’s me.

Toluse also kept a blog during her year living and studying in Beijing (that’s her pictured below on the Great Wall).

The social media user tweeted directly at the official handle of mobile telecom company, Orange, to report a staff member who contacted her on WhatsApp after rendering official service to her.

She also tweeted details of their chat as she called for appropriate measures to be taken.

However, Twitter users are divided on her move, saying the lady went too far in reporting the guy to his employers since he wasn't rude.
