FamilyRe: Help A Rat Is Harassing Me In My House It's Opens My Food Pot by Hafizah(f): 8:26am On Jul 13, 2022
mastermaestro:
I can relate. grin Some people will think you are joking. I had a similar experience when I moved into my current apartment. Unfortunately those huge rats are resistant to the regular rat poison those vendors sell now. If you like litter your entire kitchen with it, they will eat and clean mouth. grin

Your first step would be to plug all the holes in your apartment. Get some quantity of cement and sand, do the mixture and lock all holes inside your apartment. Check for holes in the rooms, toilet, bathroom, wardrobe, and socket spots. I am telling you what I did. If you are able to do this, then if any of them gets dug out the next day, then you should know where your problem lies. Then you can now use a little piece of rock or foam, squeeze it into the hole before applying mixture of cement and sand.

As I type a particular big rat is trapped inside a hole in my bathroom. grin Every night it tries to come out through the water outlet without success. But for a while now, the noise has stopped. Dude may be dead. grin

Back to the measures I took. Check the entrance of your apartment for holes and block all of them. Do the same thing around your apartment walls, especially towards the ground. When you have successfully closed up all hiding places, get ready to confront the rat. You either get a trap, or have a weapon on standby as you rely on your vigilance to kill it at the slightest opportunity. Yes this was how I eliminated the last rat that wouldn’t go away because it had nowhere to hide anymore. It was a joyful ending. cheesy

I detest rats! angry Finally, ensure you don’t leave your entrance doors open if you have no protective net doors. This is the commonest way rats enter an apartment, especially in the evenings.
You have spoken well. OP also needs to take a day off, bring all things out of his kitchen and ensure if there is any hole in his kitchen cupboards or walls, cement and block all exposed entrances, check yr roofing too, does he have torn window nets. Also make sure all food stuffs are in a tight container and covered properly.

FamilyRe: Im Tired! How Can I Make Him See I Truly Love Him, Despite His Height??? by Hafizah(f): 7:34pm On Jun 19, 2022
You should have a sit down and let him know how you really feel, after that if he keeps the attitude then you stop trying, let him also fight for your love, dont let him mistake your love for him as being desperate, like he pointed out, saying you are with him because you have no choice... Tell him you truly love him, make him know his height is out of the question. If he continues with the cold attitude, give it time and see if he fights for your love too.

My father lived a life of sacrifice till death took him. He was always concerned about his children's welfare. My Dad was a very good man whose death I would never wish for.

RIP DAD. I am still trying to be a good man like you. Still shed some secret tears anytime I think of his death and how his death in a way affected my progress
Rest on Sir

You pipu should allow this lady find her Japa husband in peace nau, ahn ahn!

Besides Uyi, weren't you exactly like this with all your former threads before?, even though we knew it was cruise. She could also be cruising as well. Character, virtue and compatibility hasn't been what women use to decide who they end up with so far, It has always been finance, religion and physical spec. Not that I am supporting bad behaviour but I am just saying it based on what I see daily, also not every woman is like that.

I am just saying oh cheesy
It was just a joke. Such miracles are rare. What I expect a man to do for me, I can do for myself.
FamilyRe: New Realities. by Hafizah(f): 7:52am On Jun 19, 2022
UyaiIncomparabl:
You don't need a man to "japa". If you are willing and press on enough, you can go by yourself.

Eschew this mindset. Everything you think a man can do, you can do way more and better.
Thanks.. Working on it.. Was only joking about the post. Thanks fr the advice

TravelRe: Pressure Mounts On US Embassy To Stop 3-year Waiting Time For Visa Interviews by Hafizah(f): 6:31pm On Jun 14, 2022
Highlandgee:
The United States embassy in Lagos and Accra are receiving backlash for scheduling visa application interviews for as long as three years.

The US government has received loads of petitions over the matter but nothing seems to have changed as the embassy has cited a huge backlog of applications, Covid-19, and reduced staff numbers among the reasons for the extended interview dates.

It has emerged that if a Nigerian applied for any kind of visa at their embassies in Lagos or Accra, the earliest time they will be booked for an interview will be in April or May of 2025 – that is at least 36 months after the application.

Although the hundreds of Nigerians affected by the situation have petitioned the Department of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration for intervention, nothing has changed since last year.

Some people who shared their experiences with Afrotimes Newspaper disclosed that they have had to travel to Liberia and Ivory Coast to apply for their visas to enter the US because, in those countries, the waiting time is much less.

“The earliest time you would be booked for an interview, if you are eligible, is somewhere between April and May 2025. This is sad considering the fact that a lot of people making travel arrangements do not make them two years in advance,” one applicant said.

How true is this? So even if an U.S Citizen comes down to Nigeria and get married, do their spouse have to wait these long to get their application approved. Pls shed more light

Have you done it?

It's just to get a baseline. So you know where you're starting from.

It's tough to make suggestions without:
- age
- education
- language level
- willingness to learn another language (french)
- willingness to improve current language (English)
- willingness to change career
- money available
- willingness to move to a remote area

A lot is involved my sister.
Thanks buddy.. A difficult one indeed..

FamilyRe: Bringing A Househelp From Nigeria To London. Pls Advise! by Hafizah(f): 1:28pm On Jun 07, 2022
Gogomannie:
Hi,

I am a London based Nigerian and recently had a baby. With day care being so expensive in London i've found that most of my salary would go on paying nursery fees for my child. In other words, i might as well stay at home and look after the baby myself. My husband works but it would be nice to have some income coming in from my end. As a result, i have considered bringing a nanny/househelp from Nigeria to look after my baby whilst I go back to work, (as a cheaper and more convenient option- Obviously, i plan to give the help a good life here and occasional trips to Nija to see her family!).

Has anyone on here done this? I've occasionally seen Nigerians settling with house helps here calling them cousins, or one relative or another. What are the tricks of the game? any advice would be really helpful. Obviously, i know of the risks i.e running away, social services e.t.c but are there success stories? how would they move from visit visa to permanent residency? I'd be most grateful for your views.

Thanks
Interested and open for interview.. Smiles, abeg help me to japa. You would never be disappointed

FamilyRe: Are Their Still Genuine Men In This Generation.. by Hafizah(op): 11:38am On May 31, 2022
Greatzeus:
Yes there are. By genuine I mean men or women who are ready to love their wife or husband, and her or him alone for the rest of their lives, yes there are people like that, and I'm one of them.
But one thing you should understand is that challenges will come,if not handled properly, can lead to unhappiness, cheating or separation. It's not easy living with another person for the rest of your life, there will be clashes here and there, now and then, even men or women who were genuine in their love can loose such commitment. This is why once sparkling marriages crash and once sweet relationship go south. Lack of wisdom and dedication to see their marital travails to a conclusive positive end.
You have spoken well Sir and I really appreciate your level of understanding and how you put them to words. May we find the patience in sour times.
