Business › Re: Zenith Bank Charged Me This For A 5Dollar Transaction *pix Attached**** by HAH: 8:04pm On Feb 21, 2016
Yes CBN gives out dollars to bank at official rate on some specific items that are valid for fx (through a form issued by CBN called form M), like buying agricultural equipment and other production machinery, Bank also source their dollars from blue chip companies and oil companies, usually at rate higher than what it is obtained from CBN but not upto black market, so other items that we source fx for that is not valid for fx from cbn are financed from dollars sourced from those companies, hence the high rate

Hope this explains the high rate charged by banks for some lifestyle item bought in dollars

From my understanding, you signed the budget b4 presenting. Does that means you or any of the Presidential team didn't take a proper look at the budget b4 you presented it to NASS? After stealing the budget for some weeks, you didn't see all those blunders too? Keep deceiving yourselves.

They will always channel the blame to someone but this time not GEJ.
Budget presented is actually a bill sent to NASS it. Is signed into law after it passage by the president so the president has not signed it as it is it is just a proposal, it becomes law when passed

For those who don't know Najaatu, she is a fiery. blunt activist,, she was the first female student union leader of ABU zaria in 1980,

She was nominated minister by Obasanjo in 1999 but was disqualified by the senate after serious debate and aguement with them, they said she was rude

Certainly she is the type that will reject appointment without consultation furthermore II think Najaatu is bigger than chairperson of glorified secondary school christened federal university dutse

Career › Re: Federal University Lafia is Paying Half Salary for January 2016!!! by HAH: 3:13pm On Feb 10, 2016
adipemcanis1:
Well....one of the problems caused by PDP establishing too many universities has finally mainfested.

During the last election., many PDP boys and girls told us that the twelve new universities were a sign that GEJ was working. What they did not tell us was that the means of adequately funding those universities was not certain.

In 2009, ASUU went on strike, and got the government to promise that every university in Nigeria would share N3 trillion naira over four years. By 2013...the govt had not paid up....and then they slashed it to N1 trillion over 5 years....and they had stopped paying up by 2015.Then we established more universities....and kept on paying the same old very low fees. Any attempt to respond to the shortfall in funding by raisng fees was seen as anti-people.

Well, here we are in 2016. Oilprcies have dropped, and suddenly there is no money. And fees are still artificially low.

Establishing those new universities does not looklike a good idea.

And let me tell you....a fully fledged university needs $100million....that is N30billion per annum to run as a world class institution. Nigeria does not even have up to that money to fund the universities. And the current government want to spend more on primary and secondary education, and only on parts of the universities.

So...if you want to keep your universities....you better be prepared to pay fees as high as N200000-600000 per annum. Am sorry....but Nigeria is not rich. If PDP was in charge...I would have said the same thing. Sorry.....but it is the fact

So....increase the fees. Make primary and secondary education free....and increase university fees. It costs N600000-1.2Million naira to train a Nigerian university student yearly. Out of that ,Nigerian student pays N50000. Where are you going to get N550000 from...with dropping oil prices?
This is the bitter truth

hahahahahahahahahaahah,
my dear its not really as simple as you write?
haaaaaardly can you even get that 30 crates; except its a battery cage system that you are using and can easily spot unproductive birds.....the truth is if with 1000 birds a farmer saves 600k, hmmmmm na correct better ogonge tin b dat o............not all that glitters is pure gold.......in summary poultry is not an oil well okk.
I know what you are saying my 30 crates is in assumption of an exceptional situation so that I can prove him wrong even at that.

My brother poultry don give me high bp sef with mortality am talking in thousands of birds, you know bloggers and seminar organizers are just deceiving people to sell their trade and show as if it is a sea of gold
Business › PEDESTRIAN Explanation Of Why The Naira Is Weak by HAH(op):
Nigeria is a country dependent on its crude oil revenue, Nigeria sells it oil in dollars which means when oil price is high Nigeria gets more revenue in dollars, the dollars realized are managed by CBN, the CBN sells this dollars to BDCs, banks and importers

Invariably when oil price is high we get more dollars and when price is low it means low dollar balance in CBN. Most of the items we use locally are imported the importers buy the dollars from CBN

Now with oil selling at low price there is no enough dollars to give importers thereby causing scarcity which naturally breeds black markets and the Naira loses it value drastically

WAY OUT
the ways out are to pray that oil price goes up again or we diversify our sources of foreign exchange to export of other commodities or services that have not saturated the international market,

Another way out is to buy local product made in Nigeria, if everybody buys local no one will import from china etc which means there will be no demand for dollars by importers which will make CBN have surplus in their vault, I bet with this one dollar may be equal to one Naira

It is very shameful that most of the things we use in our household are imported, building material, food ,clothing, electronics etc, the government needs to as a matter of policy strictly ban importation and selling of goods in our market, only machinery that will be used to make product should be allowed or products which raw materials are not found in Nigeria, imagine how aba shoes will be patronized, kaduna textile, kano foods, ofada rice etc

Our hospitals should be good enough to treat Nigerians that will demand dollars take them to india or germany. Our universities should made better, the minimum tuition per annum is £10k(N4M) in a UK university imagine this fee is paid to Unimaid, Lasu or IMSU

This is my pedestrian understanding of why dollars is very high as long as we rely on things that are imported the Naira will keep on weakening and there is limit to which the CBN can continue to save the Naira since Dollar supply is less than demand

My two kobo

when I saw poultry I just laughed, if you want to acquire high bp enter poultry business. The mortality rate can be high at times, the quality of drugs and vaccine is suspect and feed keeps going up in price yet the end cost of eggs and chickens is fixed to reducing due to market forces.
Thank my brother, the writer is obviously not into business but a blogger trying to lure the gullible or drive traffic to his blog, my brother there was a day in 2011 that I had about 1000 mortality in a day

Bread making should be on the list

Let's assume 10% of nigeria eat N100 bread daily that is, 17,000,000*100= 1,700,000,000 that is whooping one point seven billion daily

Another venture that will make sense is wheat farming which is used in making flour, wheat is also imported like rice into Nigeria from Asia, imagine venturing into wheat farming and making one of the flour mills as your customer and if you have the resources start your own small flour mill

NB the op is clueless when it comes to poultry farming to say you can make N30 Million annually with just 1000 hens, let me educate you Mr, op the best form of poultry farming is layers with 1000 hens you can make 30 crates daily 30*600=18000 daily so monthly will be 18000*30=540,000 now annually will be 540*12=6,480,000 now less your cost of purchase, feeding, vaccination and housing, I bet if you will make more than 2 million profit
