STEPS FOR NURSERY .

1.Get well drained soils especially organically rich soil mixed with well decomposed poultry or cow manure.

2.Seeds can be soaked in warm water for a few hours, though not compulsory but it allows for an increased germination percentage and also to break any form of dormancy to a large extent.

3.Get your nursery polythene bags and fill with your alkaline soil.

4.Sow your seeds inside the grow mediums to a depth of 1cm or inch to 1.5cm .Then cover the hole lightly.

5. Create a shady or shelter over the new sown seeds until they are due for transplanting when the plant reaches 4 to 6 inches or when it has 6 leaves. Then spray water regularly at least each morning to maintain the moisture .

Germination is accomplished in approximately two weeks from the time of sowing. The plants can also be transplanted once they are 1ft tall to survive with minimal care. The recommended planting spacing at transplant is 2m by 2m. An acre can take 1011 stands while if inter cropped is concerned the spacing can be 3m x 3m which can take up to 450 stands per acre.
