There are state laws which should be obeyed offcourse, and there are laws which should guide our spiritual lives, these are different.

I tend to forget where I keep my stuff easily, and it's really annoying. I may do something right now and forget it seconds later. Ironically, I remember things like names of people, what people said and the faces of people easily and accurately. I can still remember the surnames and names of my ex-classmates in secondary school perfectly, and the names and surnames of 202 people in my class at the University level.

I do not think any atheist would even like the idea of heaven. Lets imagine if there is consciousness after death. It sounds boring to me, just imagine being in a particular place for eternity, praise someone and you won't have any free will.

We all have sinned in one way or the other, what we should be doing is soul searching and correcting others with love when we can. Same thing applies to the mass murders and all that you point out in the old testament. One of the ten commands is "thou shall not kill", if you are guilty of one sin you are equally guilty as anyone else, there is nothing like partial holiness, one is either holy or not, its simple as white and black. In the old testament thieves would stone a blasphemer to death, that is hypocrisy which Jesus Christ corrected telling us following everything word for word is wrong.

Even if it is the new testament you follow. The evil of the New testaments exceeds that of the old testament. It is not possible to discard the old testament from the Christians life. Some books in the old testament like Isaiah, job etc. All predicted the initial birth of the messiah ( Christians own god) where Isaiah said the a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son. Throughout last week ( ending of may 2020), I’ve been reading a lot of unpleasant news like that of the death of George Floyd, the massacre going that took place in sokoto and kaduna, racism going on in the western world, a 12 year old girl raped by 11 mean and the latest case which is the rape and murder of uwa in benin.

I was reading a lot of comments from believers condemning all these actions and it just occurred to me [B] you can’t believe in any of the monotheistic god’s and condemn most of these atrocities [/b]

Going through the Bible and Quran you’d see verses supporting and encouraging rape.
* Lot gives his daughters over to a mob to be raped. Lot is described as the only good man in Sodom.
* Multiple cases of women being sold, by their fathers, to other men, sometimes as wives, sometimes as concubines, often under protest.
* we know the Quran allows sex slave and allows the men to marry underage girls

Genocide and racism
We all know how the bible and Quran supports violence and allows mass murdering of a any tribe that doesn’t support or believe in the idea of their god Even some of New Testament writing were against the gentiles

Slavery
The acclaimed Books of Moses ( Genesis- Deuteronomy) are all riddled with various verses of how believers should treat and enslave people. The Quran is not exempted from this atrocity either.

Is it not humbug to hate homosexuals because your holy book suggests you do. But don’t accept the atrocities even when the heavenly dictator gives you the permission to carry on those evil

Some Christians might say it was in the Old Testament. Then I would ask why do you cherry pick which moral instruction is good and which is wrong. Also if you can discard parts of your holy book away, why don’t you just throw everything away and let’s make moral codes based on secular humanism (because that’s where our morals come from #fact)

Abroad people call me every weekend asking me to send money (not bragging). Many of them are frustrated over there. They work long hours including overtime but the government takes federal, state, city, social security, medicare, medicaid and disability taxes. On top of that, when they buy biscuit, they will still take sales tax. They pay exorbitant rent; those who "own" homes are locked in a loan repayment for 30yrs of which they still have to pay annual taxes for their house. Phone bill can cost over $60 per line, cable $120, internet $80 and they still pay tax on top of it. Burger and chips with soft drink can easily cost you $16 plus tax.

Sure some folks are making over $100,000 theoretically especially healthcare workers in expensive states like California and new York, but by the time they deduct all those taxes from their check, they are left with just $40,000. Then they still have to pay more taxes on every thing they buy. That's not life. It's like a rat wheel, oscillating but not making any progress. I have a cousin who was in the same situation in America, after 10yrs working as a social worker, he returned home and we started up a business. He still regrets all the years he spent slaving away in America. Today, he travels the world on vacation and visiting places he didn't even have time to visit when he was living abroad. It's not too late for Nigerians living abroad to return home; you can make it big here with less stress and you will extend your life span.
