Don't you think people should start putting and welding iron rods into the building fence or maybe iron sheet
This way when they break the cement block they will still have to face the challenge of iron sheet that has been welded and plastered to the wall.

But then dem go just climb the fence with ladder

Water touches that area regularly


Possible Problem: water leakage from the Pipe or water down pour .


Possible Solution: check to see if any of the Pipes are leaking, fix pipe Problem. (Try & install rain gutters on your roof)
Scrape the wall & apply quality black cement screeding then repaint.

Well, I have not used machine before. I had only used hand moulders and I monitored the mixing. As for the hand moulder, you don't have to over pay him just for him to give you a good job.

The secret is in the mixing and compacting. The blocks I moulded since 2017 which are still in the site unpacked are still intact with no signs of having been touched by rain.

Sometimes Incentives motivates people to do a better job & get better results. ✓

I will just join the crowd and do like they do despite i dont even know the difference, i didnt screed my rental property yet it looks very good in my eyes.

Back in the days people dont screed their houses but this days it's like norm. What really changed? Am planning on screeding my on going project though, maybe because everyone else is talking about it or doing it.

Again, what will happen if dont screed

If your wall is built properly & Plastered well, no issues.

Screeding corrects rough wall & make Paints come out well.

Finally, I took my first shot at local steel door. I made this for the stairwell of an ongoing project.

Installation tomorrow.

Pls note this door is not armoured but it’s very heavy. It’s not cheap either.

A builder with reputation for standard jobs should never under quote to get a job.

Standard be adhered to be it big or small job.

Even if the client specifically ask for a cheap or substandard job, you must learn to walk away no matter the hunger, not to talk of a job the client wants standards adhered to.

You're as good as your last job no matter the size of the project.

Process for Screeding a rough wall/fence



If your wall/fence has been painted and it's Peeling off or it grows some unwanted Plants.


To ensure a quality Screeding do the following.

Wall must be Properly Scraped clean.
Mix cement with Pop Screeding Paint & Top Bond gum or factory Produced gum.
Mix to achieve a thick & quality solution (Do not mange materials especially for a very ugly & rough wall or fence.)
After Proper Screeding, leave dry for 2days, then sand paper to achieve more Smoothness.




NB: in Screeding, Black cement is the same thing with (Dangote/BUA/other regular cement).



Recommendations; Use POP cement for interior wall Screeding, Use Black cement for exterior (Fence/wall).

Pop paint: Delight or Glova

Use Factory Produced Gum in Mixing your solution.




Please Note: The above recommendations are based on my experience & Research. (Feel free to try your own way).

Today if someone charge me N10k for a job, I’ll pay him the N10k and set aside another N3k in case he need more money.

I don’t have money like Dangote but I don’t do a refix on my personal projects. If I’m not set, I’ll leave it till I’m ready.

I do Spanish tiles. I don’t do “It’s the same thing as Spanish tiles”

I do solid iron works. I don’t do “This one should do it.”

I remember paying my block maker the amount people are paying today to do my blocks 10 years ago.
I can invite you to come and break my walls

I didn’t pay less and expect more.

It’s not always the fault of the artisans. There’s always a price to pay for quality.

I’m making 2 gates for 2 separate projects. The combined cost of the gates and their operator is around N1.6m

Gate alone minus the installation.

The gate is not going to be the same thing as someone who paid 200k.

Remember I said I used 26 bags of cement to install my gate 10 years ago, I’m on the verge of doing another one again.

Icsl, next, you've got enough experience in the industry to understand how things work. 80% are not ready to do that, they'd rather Pay less.

Good evening house. Please I just got a new mini flat. They have done POP but they did not put surface light inside the pop. They just kept one wire at the middle of the POP for light.

Is it possible to run wiring for surface light on the POP without spoiling anything?

Or will I have to do a new POP to run surface light?

The first picture those are hooks not wire. It is only one wire in it.

Please I am looking for the cheapest possible idea that won't disfigure the place.

You can't run Surface wiring on POP ×


The wire at the middle is where your electrician would install the Pop light.



If you need extra lights on your POP, all wiring would be done inside the Pop ceiling.
