HAPPY NEW MONTH AND HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION. MAY THE COMMEMORATION OF NIGERIA'S INDEPENDENCE BRING ABOUT INDEPENDENCE FROM EVERY NEGATIVE FORCE IN YOUR LIVES. STAY BLESSED.
THE ADJACENT EPISODE 16: The order from Colonel Weyinmi was very
simple. Look everywhere you can, don’t leave
any stone unturned. Chike and his team had
been going through everything but it seemed
like nothing that had to do with the investigation
was there.
Chike had personally gone to Mohammed’s
house, searched it upside down, and still nothing
came out. He was back on Mohammed’s desk
early this morning. This hurdle needed to be
crossed before he could think about going back
to Lagos. He had gone through the heap of
documents times without number. Nothing was
pointing in the direction of Alhaji Hassim.
He had emptied Mohammed’s drawers times
without number but he wanted to do this for the
last time, he dumped all the drawers on the
table, then he noticed a tiny scribble underneath
one of the drawers. He looked more closely and
found some code on it.
The numbers read TRLU4284746. (5th FBC
series)
Chike wrote the number on a separate piece of
paper, his team were still at Mohammed’s house
still searching, he called them to come back that
he might be up to something. He wasn’t sure of
what the numbers could mean, definitely not a
phone number, not a house address either.
Chike was pacing back and forth trying to study
what the number could be, he tried checking the
number online, irreconcilable result he got from
the net.
He had an idea to search the numbers again, but
this time around without the number just the
alphabet alone, TRLU. He tried that again, and
what he saw amazed him, he saw shipping
information. Different theories came to his head
about the number he had just seen, the scribble
on the table seemed to have been there for a
long time, its seemed to have washed off, which
might give him an idea that it would have been
written there over 10 years ago which was
almost close to the time when Mohammed was
re-assigned to JTF. But he wondered where the
container was. He was standing close to the
window; he looked down and saw the containers
downstairs.
Without hesitation, he ran downstairs, he got to
the place where he saw the containers when the
driver brought him, he could remember the old
man telling him the number of the containers
meant something. There were about 15
containers in the building.
He had also written the information on a piece
of paper. He began walking in between the
containers, trying to look for which container
matched the number he found underneath one
of the drawers.
He was still looking through the abandoned
containers when his team got there and walked
with him, they were all trying to look for the
container with TRLU4284746. It was one of his
team members that found it, they all ran to
where he found it.
It was the same number as the one they found
in Mohammed’s drawer. The surrounding around
the container looked dirty but the container
looked visited constantly, the lock on the
container was different rather, it looked similar
to that of a safe. They all wondered who would
put a safe lock on a container, definitely a lot of
secret lurked in this container.
One way of getting the information out of the
Safe would be to use brute force, to use
explosives but then again, they would need more
because of the material a container is made of.
Chike didn’t want to use brute force, considering
the opinion of blowing it up, he remembered the
statement infront of the container number.
5th FBC series
Chike was sure this was the key to the
combination for the lock of the container rests
in 5th FBC series. Not sure how this would work,
he was getting impressed with Mohammed or
whoever set up this whole operation.
Femi shared a thought in his head;
“Sir, I think this combination is some sort of
Mathematical method, Arithmetric Progression
series, Geometric Progression” Femi said
“Its mathematics quite alright but am not so
sure about Arithmetric Progression, i think its
more like Fibonacci Series” Chuks interjected
“Hence, the FBC in the statement” Chike cut in.
Chike grabbed a stick on the floor and started
writing out the Fibonacci series on the ground.
1
1 2 1
1 3 3 1
1 4 6 4 1
1 5 10 10 5 1
The 5th series of the Fibonacci is 1 5 10 10 5 1.
They got busy with the lock, rotating the knob
sticking out of a hole in the container, trying the
full 5series of the Fibonacci series seemed
another deadlock.
Chuks brought an idea and said “How about if we
remove the 1 infront and the one at the end”.
Chike tried it and the door opened a bit, the
pulled a lever to open up the whole door from
the left. They had just opened the underground
investigation of Alhaji Hassim, the underground
work been done by Mohammed, Mohammed told
Chike that the investigation had been shut down,
meanwhile Mohammed was busy monitoring and
analysing Alhaji Hassim’s movement, decade to
decade.
Grabbed a torch to marvel at the investigative
work of the slain detective, Mohammed. A
beautiful sight, red thread on different locations
in Africa, Calendars with dates circled, riddled
with numbers instead of readable alphabets.
In the container was a gigantic load of evidence,
blurred out photographs on the wall, pieces of
papers stapled to a wooden board, marker
writing, difficult to read, different numbers, all
sorts of numbers which dint make any meaning.
However, there were a set of numbers
underneath a cardboard where last known
address was scribbed
45 9191125 51115 1920185520 41512168914
519201205
Chike said to the other team “This guy’s math
fetish is quite interesting”
They all laughed.
Chike said “My theory for this is that he
swapped the alphabets for numbers.”
“Let’s get busy people” Chike continued
10 minutes later, Chuks brought back the
decrypted number and it read
45 ISALE EKO STREET DOLPHIN ESTATE
Chike called Colonel and told him the new
development.
The colonel said to them “Get on the next flight
to Lagos, i don’t care how late it is, get into
that house.”
With that, Chike and his team drove to the
airport.

THE ADJACENT EPISODE 15: The Colonel couldn’t get into specifics with
Chike, yesterday evening when he got back from
Lagos, the meeting with the President, he had to
leave at about 7PM.
The Colonel and his family had a dinner date with
his first daughter’s fiance; the families were
meeting that evening to plan the wedding. The
Colonel had stated it times without number that
whatever they decided was okay with him but his
wife had to make sure he sat in some of the
meetings.
He couldn’t understand why his wife would leave
him out of that particular meeting, been in a
meeting where the President was firing people
was enough motivation for him to get to his
work.
However, the meeting was rescheduled for this
morning. It was 9AM in the office, the JTF had
been moved to the floors untouched by the fire.
Chike entered the Colonel’s office and greeted
“Morning Sir!” Chike said
“Good morning Chike” Colonel Weyinmi replied
“I need updates on this Alhaji Hassim’s case”
Colonel continued
“Sir, we’re making progress I can assure you sir”
Chike responded
“We need to accelerate the progress; the
President was busy firing people in the Police
department” Colonel emphasized
“Sir, I got an anonymous tip that pointed
accusing fingers at Mohammed for the burnt
floors” Chike chipped in
“Well, that’s a dead end now because he was
found dead in his car this morning. Apparently,
he was strangled in his car last night.” Colonel
cut in
“My goodness” Chike replied, moving towards
the window, looking down from the 5th floor.
“The rate at which people die in this case is
alarming, this ground we’re treading are filled
with land mines” Chike replied
“But we need to look into his things to see if we
can find anything that can help us investigate
this case better. I have other things to discuss
with Mohammed, all our investigations relayed
back to the earlier investigations. We kept
missing points, I was going to ask Mohammed
today but a dead man can’t talk” Chike continued
“Do the best you can, let me know when you’re
leaving back for Lagos” Colonel responded.
Chike stepped out of the Colonel’s office.
As he walked down the hall, he picked up his
phone and called Lana;
Lana picked and Chike started the conversation
“Bad guy, good morning” Chike said
“Don’t talk to me like we’re friends, you’re
holding my balls in your hands. If it wasn’t for
what it is, we might actually be friends but
guess what? We aren’t! ” Lana replied harshly
Chike laughed and responded “You take things
too personal, it’s my job, I’m actually a good
guy, people in my squad have said such about
me”
Lana laughed sarcastically “You’re a fun guy!
What do you want?”
Chike replied “I actually just wanted to check up
on you, these days’ people in your business die
like chicken”
Lana cut in “You mean assassinated, I have
survived 2 assassination attempts in just 2
months of this Alhaji Hassim’s business”
“You’re actually very caring” Lana replied
sarcastically
“If you wanna be caring, how about assigning me
security details. My bodyguards have been killed,
i move around with thugs rather than trained
mercenaries” Lana continued
“I can’t do that, it will disturb the investigation.
Moreover, your girlfriend might notice and start
putting things together which might jeopardize
the investigation” Chike responded
“Okay, I can see you’re fine, please keep me
posted on any new development” Chike said
“I will but one more thing, I don’t trust this
Nikky lady anymore, she keeps getting these
anonymous phone calls, can you help me dig up
on her” Lana said
“Since when did you have the privilege to ask for
things? Ehn” Chike replied
“Just do it” Lana replied
Chike dropped the call.

A short dark guy sat in a room, his legs have
been amputated. He had alot of hate in his being,
a very bitter human being, someone who had
lost everything but left with a plan.
He was sitting with another guy who looked
every inch like a soldier of fortune. They were
looking at different documents, trying to
compare and contrast, the document had to do
with the location of Alhaji Hassim.
They were both in this operation for a reason,
the soldier of a fortune was someone who got
left behind in an operation, the short dark guy
wants to unsit Alhaji Hassim.
The documents had the photograph of Karim,
and Mohammed, they both knew something
valuable about their quest.
The soldier of fortune was the same guy unseen
fleeing from Karim’s house after his car
exploded, the same guy also went unnoticed
after he strangled Mohammed in his car and left
with the file that he snuck out before the fire he
planned.
Things aren’t what they seem most of time. The
short dark guy looked up and told the soldier
“The best thing about being dead is that nobody
looks for you, you can lurk behind the curtain
and get things arranged until you need to come
out”
He continued “These people took my birthright,
it’s time to get it back.”
He put his hands on the tyres of the titanium
wheel chair, rolled it forward with tears in his
eyes, he stopped and spoke softly to his
mercenary
“Let me know when we’re ready to hit them
hard!”

Chike’s flight to Abuja landed a few minutes
after 5, his mission in Abuja was clear. He
needed to report to his Boss and it was not
something he couldn’t do over the phone but
the Colonel wanted to see him in person, also to
investigate the anonymous tip he got about the
fire on 3rd and 4th floor. Walking through the
arrival section of the airport, he could see
people moving around with no care in the world,
going about their businesses.
Some families hurrying around to travel back
home for the weekend, Friday evenings were
always hectic. He couldn’t but notice some girls
dressed like they were going for a party, he
shared the same flight with them, they were so
noisy, talking about their boyfriends comparing
them with their Aristos. He knew definitely these
were runz girls, a little question popped in his
mind; the inner voice asked him when last he had
sex. He ignored the question and brought
himself back to reality.
He brought his phone and called the number of
the driver assigned to bring him into the office.
The driver pulled up and they left.
The drive back to the fire ravaged building was
uneventful, Chike was silent and the driver was
also silent. For a minute, Chike prayed that
every driver should be like this guy, no need to
chit-chat. Chike always told them point blank
that he wasn’t interested in chit-chatting, telling
them before the journey starts usually works
wonders.
As the driver passed by the abandoned
containers, Chike wondered, was there any
reason why these containers hadn’t been thrown
out or sold. So, he asked the driver, earlier in
his career, he had found out that the secret of
most influential people and the organizations
were with the people at the bottom of their
pyramid. If you want information about anything,
all you need to do is ask the cleaners or the
office assistants, from who is sleeping with who
to who is sabotaging who. The people at the
bottom of the corporate pyramid had it all.
Chike asked the driver “Oga, wetin all this
containers dey do for here”
The old man answered “Na business center dem
be before, dem bin don dey there since late 80s.
Some of them na office for them the people wey
dey build Abuja road that time, some of them
dem dey use am sell food. If you look am very
well, dem dey scattered for every wia.
When I first come Abuja early 90, na that time I
just born my second son, Rapheal, dem pack all
of them go, dat time I hear say them dey sell
am. My Oga then arrange for me to buy am but
my wife never relocate to Abuja then, I plan am
that time say she go dey use am sell her small
market but Man proposes, God disposes.
I no no why them no just sell them, e get one
time like 7 years ago wey dem sell some out of
them. Na that time I come buy am for Mama
Michael, my last born Racheal just finish Primary
5 that time, wan write common entrance.
I hear rumour say them go sell the rest very
soon, Life dey very organized that time, number
dey all the container body, all of them get wetin
dem mean.
Abi, you wan buy ni?

Chike knew typical of driver, ask them one
question and the diarrhea of the mouth begins, i
only asked about the containers but the driver
has managed to tell me about when he started
working in Abuja, his kids, his wife. Cabmen
aren’t security conscious at all. Chike knew he
had to answer this man stylishly so the
conversation can end else the man might just
continue to tell him how the civil war broke out.
Chike replied “I no dey buy, I just dey wonder
why dem dey here, thank you for the
enlightenment.”
The driver was sad that Chike cut his speech
mojo, he wanted to narrate how he and his
father survived the civil war and escaped to
Lagos. The driver parked in front of the building.
Chike got out of the car, it was already getting
dark, but he could see the destruction of the
building, he thought to himself that it was
because the building was old, the materials used
for building were reliable else the fire on the
third floor would have brought down the whole
building.
The third floor was leveled, all the chairs, tables,
shelves, everything was gone, same for the
fourth floor as well.
Chike went through the staircase up, entered
into the third floor; saw a couple of colleagues,
everyone wondering how the fire could have
started. Everybody had their own theory of how
the fire started. People were trying to give their
best scenario of what really happened
Mohammed was there, Chike joined in, greeted
everyone around with a handshake; he walked
around the whole floor, making observations.
It was Mohammed’s turn, he continued
“I think what happened was that, the fire came
from the wiring, I can remember a few months
ago. I came here to pick some files and I heard
some spark from the junction box. I called the
electrical department.
They told me they would fix it but they didn’t fix
it, these things don’t just happen in a day, it
was little by little. I think the reason more
people didn’t notice is because more of the
detectives in this place were becoming
lackadaisical about investigation.
Most of the detectives’ here hate paperwork;
nobody had been down there for a long time. I
saw this coming”
Mohammed continued blabbing in his Hausa
accent to the colleagues citing instances he had
warned them about it but no one had taken him
serious. Chike wanted to offer his own theory as
well but then he remembered the text message
he got from his anonymous source. The last part
of the message kept playing out in his head
“Talk to the Obese Hausa detective”
Chike knew Mohammed was the one been
referred to as the Obese Hausa detective, there
are other detectives’ but Mohammed was the
only one with a thick Hausa accent. He allowed
Mohammed finish, when he was about to leave,
Chike escorted him down asked him if he could
join him for a short talk.
In his proud ways, Mohammed kept lamenting
about how nobody ever took him seriously in the
department, he claimed to have warned them
about this impending doom. Chike listened to
him all through without interruptions.
Mohammed just couldn’t stop talking about
forseeing the doom.
When Mohammed finished, Chike continued
looking at the floor as they walked side by side
“Mohammed, I think this whole fire accident was
carefully organized”
Mohammed stopped in his step “What are you
talking about”
Chike continued “I think someone is trying to
cover something up”, mimicking a deep thought
mode.
Mohammed replied in deep thought to what
Chike said “What were they trying to cover up,
Chike”
Chike looked up and replied “Mohammed, you
should answer that question yourself, you
already said you’re the only detective that
appreciates paper work”
Mohammed replied getting furious at the
accusation “Chike? What are you trying to
insinuate?”
Chike replied firmly “We’re discussing this, lets
reason this together Mohammed”
Mohammed’s breathing stabilized and he replied
in a low tone “Ok”
Chike continued “My theory to this is that,
firstly it was carefully organized.
Secondly, we all know that floor is for records
and almost nobody goes down to that floor
asides for people who flirt”
Mohammed replied “I still don’t agree with your
first point but the second one is true to an
extent”
Mohammed smiled at the second part of the
statement, Chike continued
“I think what happened is that someone opened
the backdoor of the third floor which hasn’t
been opened in a very long time, almost a
decade, the locks, the doors, the iron I saw was
in a bad shape.
The person came back in the middle of the night
or under the disguise of working late, set the
place on fire, did the same on the 4th floor and
spoofed the electrical systems on both floors”
Mohammed wasn’t sure how to respond to the
analysis of how the fire was staged. Mohammed
replied
“That! My friend is a good plan and it might have
worked”
Chike exclaimed “It already worked!”
Chike was ready to delve into how he was sure
the fire was staged by Mohammed, when his
phone began to ring, the caller ID was Colonel
Weyinmi.
Mohammed was still looking dazed when Chike
told him he would catch up with him later,
Mohammed was so sure they were unto him.
Instead of going to the beer parlour for his usual
tradition, he skipped it and went home with 2
people on his mind, Jibola Balogun & Alhaji
Hassim.
The Minister of Defence was sitting at the table
with his family having dinner when the call came
in, the call was one he had been expecting, that
line which the call came in with was a special
line, the people who had that number were
special people, his business partners, shady
only, his girlfriends, his baby mamas.
You would expect that a 62 year old General
wouldn’t be so randy but his type of randiness
needed a new word in the dictionary, he would
spearhead different parties to bring in girls from
different countries just for orgies, most
recently, the South African party, where all the
girls were south Africans, flew in about 15 of
them.
The General at home was a different man,
decent, even an Elder in the church. He looked
at the caller number and saw Hakim.
He stood up sharp from the table and excused
himself to his room, locked the door, went into
his library, locked the library door behind him as
well. He shut the windows, the doors, settled
into the comfy sofa and continued his
conversation.
The Minister continued “They’re unto you big
time!”
Alhaji’s voice was hard and firm, he replied “You
already said that yesterday and what do you
mean by ‘you’?”
The Minister almost stammered “I mean we,
they’re unto us”
Alhaji responded “I thought you handled them
few weeks ago when the Joint Committee set up
the task force?”
The Minister replied “I did but the mercenaries
were all executed by Chike”
Alhaji rubbed his hands over his eyes and replied
“But why should I be bothered about this one,
they always open them only to close them a few
months later”
The Minister replied “Alhaji, this time around,
they have someone in your camp!”
Alhaji replied”am listening”
The Minister continued “They know about
Karim’s bomb explosion, they know about the
new associate recruitment. The JTF building has
burnt, burning specifically the records
department.
Definitely, this is serious this time around.”
Alhaji replied “Hope my records have been
expunged from the records room”
The Minister replied “I thought you had arranged
for Mohammed to do that”
ALhaji replied “I think he has wiped it out but I
also think he’s the one responsible for the burnt
floors. Can we arrange for Mohammed to be
permanently relieved of his duties?”
The Minister replied “I can do that”
Alhaji replied “Make sure it is done well and
urgently”
The Minister continued “This might as well be
the biggest challenge to this your reign, the
President has given JTF all the necessary backing
it needs. They’ve been given the access to
break whichever door they need to break, to
question whoever they deem fit. I think you
should be out of the country for now”
Alhaji replied “Thank you General for your
concern but I will stay, I am not a coward, have
you forgotten my antecedence so quickly?”
Alhaji continued “Hope he knows that if I fall, the
economies of so many African countries are
going with me”
The Minister replied “He doesn’t care about
other countries; all he cares about is taking you
down. He doesn’t seem interested in the depth
of your involvement in other economies. He
keeps complaining about how Nigeria loses from
your crude oil lifting. ”
Alhaji continued “He still doesn’t have an idea
that I contributed N300 million to his campaign
funds, does he?”
The Minister replied “He doesn’t know it was
you, I think you should arrange to meet with
him”
Alhaji kept quiet for a minute and responded “I
will get back to you, just make sure you handle
Mohammed as discussed”
Alhaji was the last voice in the conversation as
the phone call ended.
Alhaji left the special room he was making the
call, came out and join his committee of friends
as they were arguing loud about the chances of
their politician candidate. It was a special
gathering, a higher class of elites, the meeting
of kingmakers. None of them had the idea that
one of them was the myth called Alhaji Hassim.
They had all dined together for years, had their
political views, consulted with different
government across Africa and some parts of
Europe. Their organization was called the African
Interest.
They were elder statesmen. Ten minutes later,
15 naked South American girls walked into the
room and scattered themselves amongst the old
men, it was their Brazilian night.
One could tell Alhaji was thinking about
something but as soon as the entourage of the
crème Brazilian girls came in, he put a pin on the
thought and pushed it to the back of his mind.

A FRUITFUL AND BLESSED WEEK FILLED WITH WARMTH, SUNSHINE AND LOVE IS MY SINCEREST WISH FOR ALL OF YOU THIS NEW WEEK. STAY BLESSED
Special new week shoutout to my bro Deolu without whom this work wouldn't be possible
THE ADJACENT EPISODE 13:
Jibola Balogun was sitting in his lavishly
furnished living room listening to the news on
the fire that burnt some part of the Ministry of
Agriculture building. He thought to himself that
the government always want to fool people. He
thought to himself that people will think it’s the
Agriculture building not knowing it’s the where
government stores all of its secrets.
There is a reason for that building going down.
It’s not an accident.
JB knew he had to re-arrange his tactics as
Karim was blown beyond recognition earlier on.
At this point, Jibola was more interested in who
Alhaji Kasim was than in destroying his business.
The ultimate revenge right now would be
stealing back the same business Alhaji Hassim
stole decades ago.
The only person with this privilege information
was Mohammed as he gathered while throwing
money around the Police. All his money could
get him was that Mohammed was one of the
earliest Policemen to investigate him. He learnt
that Mohammed was on his tail while he was still
climbing the ladder of Mysteriousness.
He brought out the paper with Mohammed’s
phone number and dialed, the phone rang and
Mohammed picked.
Jibola continued in his husky voice
“Good morning Mohammed, I don’t think it’s
coincidental that the JTF office got burnt when
Alhaji Hassim’s investigation was re-opened. I
think you were trying to burn whatever is left of
the evidences against him”
Mohammed cut in “Who are you? You shouldn’t
be making accusations without proof.”
Jibola continued “I have N100 Million that says
you know who Alhaji Hassim is.”
Mohammed went silent, no response.
Jibola continued “I will give you time to think
about this and I will call you back soon.”
Mohammed still didn’t have anything to say,
Alhaji Hassim had stopped bribing him since the
investigation had been silent. Moreover, all he
gave him was N5 Million. A million thoughts
were running through Mohammed’s head.
He was already planning how he and his family
will escape to a new place with fresh identity, all
this were going on his head all in seconds, and
his thoughts were cut short when Jibola’s voice
came back on the phone.
Jibola continued “By the way, my name is Jibola
Balogun, and things are changing in Oil Bunkery
in Nigeria, you should change parties for your
sake and your family’s.
Talk to you soon.”
The line went dead, he looked at the called I.D
and all he saw was Private line.
Jibola picked up another scrambled phone and
texted Chike the following
“The fire that burnt your building isn’t
coincidental with the Alhaji Hassim investigation.
You might wanna chat with the Obese Hausa
dectective.

DARE TO DREAM AND BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS. IMPOSSIBILITY IS NOTHING. NEVER SAY NEVER.
THE ADJACENT EPISODE 12:
The JTF deep cover building was one of the
oldest buildings in Abuja, but it served its
purpose which is to house secret agents and
information.
The first & Second floor of the 8 storey building
is used for Ministry of Agriculture secretariat;
the 2 and 3rd floors were used by the JTF as
records room. It preceded the days of
Computers, the information gotten were stored
in folders and then shelved accordingly.
Some of these files include the earliest of the
investigation that if dug into properly could give
the real identity of Alhaji Hassim. The files of oil
bunkery had been documented from the lates
80s’ when a myth created a new movement,
which is today the biggest underworld criminal
gang in Sub-saharan Africa.
He had been subject of many Interpol
investigations, each time the case was brought
up; it’s always been dropped due to lack of
evidence. He was deep into many African
economies; taking down Alhaji Hassim was close
to destroying the economy of about 40% of
Africa, that’s how deep his influence was.
However, Chike was a different sort of
investigator, his news of redeployment had
travelled through all the floors of the JTF
building. This new investigation rumor has it that
they’re disregarding every other investigation
done in the past.
Mohammed was a senior officer in the state CID
before he was redrafted to JTF, he had in the
early 90s’ investigated the Alhaji Hassim story
but it didn’t end in anything concrete, it was
said then that the man was a ghost. The
investigations hit a brick wall because Alhaji
Hassim bought Mohammed’s loyalty. Mohammed
who was a skinny man while he was with the
Police was now Obese, closer in appearance to
the Michellin man. He keeps rolling around the
department, getting into gossip with the
secretaries, rumour has it that he even sleeps
with some of the secretaries and junior female
officers.
The files that could implicate Alhaji Hassim,
Mohammed claimed to have destroyed, but the
shit was about to hit the fan with the new
investigation, Mohammed knew if Chike and his
people dig well, they will soon need to check
that file and then find that information where it
is hidden. Mohammed had the perfect plan, it
had been done before, and it could be done
again.
Everyone knew Mohammed closed late, on
Tuesday evening, Mohammed went to the
Records room, flirted with the secretary a bit
and then disappeared into the records room,
made a photo copy of the document, folded into
into his baba riga and went down the hall to the
door that had been sealed for years, greased the
lock and opened it after a few stuggles with the
door, meanwhile earlier that day on the 4th
floor, he had done the same operation.
After making the copies, he took some
documents from an abandoned investigation and
exited the storage room. He made his way back
to the 4th floor where his office was, more of
his colleagues were in the office discussing who
is better in C. Ronaldo & Lionel Messi.
Mohammed joined in the praises for the little
Argentine wonder, and then he left with the rest
of the office. They all entered their individual
cars and left that night.
It was early morning breaking news that the
Ministry of Agriculture building was burning, the
fire started in the 3rd floor and has since burnt
the 3rd, 4th and climbing into 5th floor.
Mohammed was sitting in the living room
watching the news on tv, smiling to himself. He
had done exactly what Alhaji wanted and also
saved himself a copy of secret as an insurance
policy for himself.
He thought to himself; now let’s see how Chike
will know the real identity of Alhaji Hassim.

THE KEY TO SUCCESS IS PERSISTENCE. WHEN THERE ARE A HUNDRED REASONS TO GIVE UP, THERE ALWAYS IS A SINGLE REASON TO CONTINUE AND I AIN'T A QUITTER.
THE ADJACENT EPISODE 11:
Lana’s plan was to meet up with Nikky at the
Civic Center, get on a boat to the location to
their meeting with Karim.
However, Lana ran into a little hitch that had to
entail getting money from the Bank personally.
Lana’s operational account was with EcoBank,
due to the amount he needed, he went to the
headquarters on Ahmadu Bello way.
His account officer had made some calls already
before Lana got to the Bank HQ, he was warmly
received at the entrance of the architectural
edifice. He was greeted by Anna, a petite
amiable lady.
She continued “Good morning, Mr. Reis, my
name is Anna. Your branch has contacted us”
Lana replied “Morning Anna, please I would
appreciate it if you drop the Mister, Call my Lana
or Reis, which ever floats your boat”
She replied him with a smile and led him to her
office on the second floor, a tastefully furnished
office. Anna’s pictures were on the table. He sat
on the guest side and she made her way to the
other side of the table.
Anna started another conversation, wishing to
thank him for using their bank but Lana wasn’t in
the mood for her patronage. He brought out the
cheque leaflet already filled and signed, pushed it
to her over the desk. Anna picked up the
cheque, picked her reading glasses from the
table, held it out and read it to herself.
It was at this time that Lana noticed her
cleavage that was almost spilling out of her
black tight fitting dress. Her color tone was
chocolate, very pretty face. If he didn’t have the
pressure Nikky was heaping on him maybe he
could score this girl, all he had to do was call
Alexandro to send him some custom diamond
necklace with Anna engraved in it.
That move worked most times but he couldn’t
be bothered to do that now, Nikky’s pressure
was already telling on him. She had called him
about 5 times within the last few minutes he had
been in the Bank.
Lana bellowed to her “Please Anna, can you
hasten this for me ”
Anna replied “Sure, what drink would you like or
how would you like to be entertained. It might
take a while in the banking hall”
Anna followed her response with a flirty smile.
Lana would have enjoyed all the flirting bulk she
was throwing at him but not today.
He replied “I have less than 30 minutes, I don’t
need any form of entertainment”
His reply was firm.
As she left her office, Lana was tempted to look
as she walked past him, he noticed the ass on
her, cute he said to himself. His thoughts were
interrupted by Nikky’s call. He picked the call
“Hello Nikky” Lana said
“How long will you be in the bank for? We need
to meet up for about 6pm. We need to discuss
some issues before we meet with Karim” Nikky
replied
“No problem, I just need to get out of this bank
as soon as I can, it isn’t by mouth to cash a
cheque at 5:30pm” Lana boasted
Nikky replied “Call me when you get out, and for
the records, I have cashed a cheque at 7pm
before so don’t flatter yourself”
Lana responded “I know someone who cashed a
N49 Million cheque during the strike…not
weekend…during the strike…”
The boast was getting more interesting at this
point but Nikky had a way of ending things as
she said the last one.
“Lana, there is someone I will like you to meet,
when he signs a cheque, the bank will bounce “
Nikky replied and ended the call.
Lana smiled and made a cocky remark to himself.
A few minutes later, Anna walks into the office
with 2 brown paper bags; she drops it on the
table and says
“Here is your N15 Million, Lana”
Lana gets up, she tries to make eye contact but
Lana doesn’t seem interested but he thought
about it again. He picked up her pen and a paper
on her desk and nicely scribbled his number
unto the paper and wrote LR underneath the
number then handed it to her.
He looked at her and said “Its better you give
me a call next week, this week is clogged for
me”
He walked out of her office and he could sense
that if he turned back he would probably catch
her moon walking to show her excitement that
he finally noticed her efforts to seduce him. As
he walked to his car, he thought about how
ladies throw themselves at him just because
they know he’s rich and good-looking, none of
them knew how hard he worked for his money,
only interested in having their own share of the
Reis cake.
He nicely arranged the paper bags in the car and
drove off.
The time was 8pm, Nikky was heading to the
Civic Center, already spoke with Lana, who was
also heading there as well.
Nikky was the first to arrive at the venue, Lana
parked his car and walked towards the boat, he
could spot Nikky in the dashing evening wear she
was putting on. He wondered to himself if Nikky
was going there to seduce the man or talk
business. Lana was put on a simple white native
with little or no embroidery on it, custom fit by
the way.
Nikky’s boobs were a distraction for Lana,
anytime he saw those fun bags, he always tried
to image how red her areolas would be.
Lana asked “Are we going there to seduce the
man or talk business?”
Nikky replied “Actually, we’re doing the both,
these guys fight dirty, I can assure you of that,
you might as well bring out everything in your
arsenal”
They were still there, laughing and talking waiting
for the Karim’s luxury boat to come when Lana
saw a canoe with guys wearing masks
approached them, the whole part of what was to
come played in slow motion to him as they guys
brought out AK47 and started spraying whatever
and everything at the dock.
Lana and Nikky ran to hide behind the fence as
the most difficult 60 seconds of their lives
passed them by. They were both panting from
the race for their lives, coming out after
everything, smoke was everywhere, the light
blue cruiser was bullet ridden, so many people at
the dock were injured. As Nikky was walking
through, she saw a young boy who led her to a
sitting area earlier on laying dead in the pool of
his own blood as a bullet lodged in his neck, she
helped him close his eyes. Lana received a text
from an unknown number saying
“Karim was killed earlier on today by a car
bomb” Lana kept the information to himself
Nikky started pacing over the place, trying to
put 2 and 2 together, she looked up and said
“Lana, this is an assassination attempt, who did
you tell about this meeting”
Lana replied “Who would I tell? 2 assasination
attempts in a day huh?? ” asking himself
Nikky continued talking to herself “Karim is the
only person who knew we will meet here, and I
haven’t even heard from him yet”
Nikky’s phone began to ring
She walked down to receive the call and 10
seconds later, she was back to inform Lana that
Karim was dead and whoever killed him was after
them.
Lana took the news like he was just hearing it
for the first time, meanwhile he was first to hear
but he didn’t want to arouse any suspicion with
Nikky.
Nikky continued by saying “Lana, if we don’t find
whoever wanted to kill us, he might get us
soon”
Nikky found a blank stare on Lana’s face.

Karim was seated at dining table with his wife
and kids, while they were eating. He was lost in
thought of how he would remove 2 of the
biggest contenders for the new position
meanwhile giving Alhaji Hassim a concrete
reason why they shouldn’t be allowed to come
on board.
He took a sip of water and left his food
untouched, the time was few minutes after 7, He
still wasn’t clear about how to handle this
situation and he couldn’t speak to his wife about
it.
He sat in the living room and lost himself in the
thought of how to handle the situation. He
thought about the Luxury Flat in Dubai, the $
120,000 cheque he had received from Jibola
Balogun.
He couldn’t afford to pay back, he would go
bankrupt, moreover there wouldn’t be any need
for him to return anything if he can cleverly find
a way of removing the Lana & Nikky obstacle.
When he brought himself back to life, he noticed
his phone blinking, he picked it up and it was a
text message from JB saying
“Nikky and Lana must not make that position,
use any means necessary.”
Karim checked his wristwatch, the time was few
minutes after 8, he went into his bedroom,
changed his clothes and proceeded out. He sent
his driver home, he had to drive himself for
tonight.
The Prado just came back from servicing. His
driver had already cleaned the car, anticipating
Karim would use it for any outing he had this
evening.
The Prado was parked infront of the house,
Karim entered the car, started the engine. The
car exploded and turned into a ball of fire.
The sound of the explosion was heard as far as
10 houses away. Have a blessed Sunday ladies and gentlemen
