It can be recalled that Kalu was declared the winner of Abia North Senatorial District in the Febuary 23rd Presidential/National Assembly elections. The former Governor polled a total 31,203 votes to defeat the incumbent, Ohuabunwa who polled 20,801 votes and the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance Chief David Ogba who scored 11,410 votes. EDITORIALSouth-East and Senate Presidency Published March 3, 2019 By Correspondents As normalcy permeates the polity, following the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari, there is more work to be done, especially in the area of political balance. Nigeria, no doubt, stands on a tripod and any arrangement that does not put into consideration this tripartite background will continue to attract not only strictures but also create instability. Right from the First Republic, the constitutional checks and balances functioned effectively with the unwritten understanding that at no time did any of the three major ethnic nationalities, that is, Igbo, Hausa/ Fulani and Yoruba, failed to have a sense of belonging in the three arms of government. Today, President Buhari, born to a Fulani father, has as Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, a Yoruba. Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki who heads the National Assembly is Yoruba as well as Fulani. From Independence in 1960 to 1966 when the military struck for the first time, none of these three major groups was brushed aside in national equation. Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, an Igbo, moved from Governor General to President. Sir Balewa Abubakar Tafawa, from the Jere part of the North, became Prime Minister only because, his boss, Sir Ahmadu Bello, of Hausa/Fulani stock, gave him the go ahead. The legislature had Dr. Dennis Osadebay, an Igbo, as Senate President. When he became Premier of the Mid-Western Region, Dr. Nwafor Orizu, another Igbo stepped in. The Yoruba did not in any way lose out. The judiciary was firmly under the leadership of Sir Adetokunbo Ademola, an Egba Prince from Abeokuta. In the Second Republic, the Hausa/Fulani and Igbo got a fair share of Executive and Legislative positions. President Shehu Shagari had Dr. Alex Ekwueme as Vice President. Speaker of the House of Representatives was Chief Edwin Umezuoke. Again, the Yoruba headed the judiciary through Justice Atanda Fatai-Williams. When he retired, another Yoruba, Justice George Sowemimo took his place. The tripod was therefore intact. This concrete balance continued under the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidency. President Obasanjo, of Yoruba parentage, picked Atiku Abubakar, a Fulani as vice president. The five Senate Presidents from 1999 to 2007, were all Igbo. From Chief Evan Enwerem to Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, Adolphus Wabara, Anyim Pius Anyim to Ken Nnamani. The headship of the judiciary had changed hands to the Hausa/Fulani in the person of Justice Mohammed Uwais. The coming of President Umaru Yar’Adua, a Fulani, turned the national equilibrium upside down. With a Vice President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, an Ijaw, the Senate President, David Mark, came from the Idoma group. The Judiciary was led by Justice Idris Kutigi, a Nupe from Niger State. Jonathan became President in 2010 after the passage of Yar’Adua. The Hausa /Fulani got the position of Vice President through Namadi Sambo and also Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal. This position was reserved for the Yoruba to maintain balance. Strange enough, the Yoruba members of the House worked against the zoning arrangement. President Buhari came in 2015 and expectations were that the Igbo, schemed out of top positions in the previous Executive, Legislature and Judiciary, would get the Senate President slot. Unfortunately, there was no Igbo in the Senate. The closest they had was Dr. Chris Ngige who could not make it to the Upper Legislature. It was so disturbing that Governor Rochas Okorocha nearly broke down, praying for Ngige to scale through. President Buhari is back and he still has Prof. Osinbajo as his Vice. The good news is that in the new Senate, there will be two Igbo senators, Orji Uzor Kalu and Okorocha elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Kalu served in the House of Representatives between 1992 and 1994. He was influential as Chairman of the Committee on Appropriation. The import is that, perhaps, time is now for the Igbo to be given a due sense of belonging in the Buhari administration. The President performed better in the South- East, making 25 per cent and above in at least three of the five states. Kalu and Okorocha will be going to the Senate as former governors. And we have to stress that if the country could invent the phrase, ‘Doctrine of Necessity’, to enthrone Dr. Jonathan as President in 2010, the same could be done to choose the next President of the Senate from the South-East. We cite the example of Godswill Akpabio, whose first time in the Senate fetched the position of Minority Leader, ahead of some ranking senators. Therefore, there is no hurdle of any kind to stem the desire of the South-East. We call on President Buhari and the leadership of the APC to zone the Senate Presidency to the South-East for equity sake ahead of the inauguration of Ninth Senate in June. https://www.newtelegraphng.com/2019/03/south-east-and-senate-presidency/

Before you talk get your information right . Dr. Kalu was once a Member of the house of Representatives alongside Kwakwanso, don't rate Rochas with Dr. Kalu because Kalu is ranking member way beyond Rochas league . festacman: |
NJC to sack erring judges on issuance of certificate of returns to declared winners The National Judicial Council(NJC) has revealed plans to sack judges who give restraining orders to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on issuance of certificate of returns to the winners in the recently concluded National Assembly elections. An anonymous source in the NJC , who broke the news but strictly warned not to be mentioned said the NJC has been briefed on how some politicians are scheming to play with the electoral laws by approaching courts and demanding for non-issuance of certificate of returns to the winners on different grounds . According to the source , a committee has been set up and kept ready to investigate and sack any judge who tries to manipulate the constitution by tampering with the electoral laws . The source said the electoral law is explicit on matters concerning declaration of winners in polls . “This committee is saddled with, among other things, the responsibility of ensuring that judges of both lower and higher courts key into NJC’s renewed efforts at ridding our country of the canker-worm “Electoral Act states that an election result, once declared by the INEC Returning Officer for the election in question, cannot be questioned by the same INEC “Upon declaration of the result of the election by the designated Returning Officer, the winner should be presented with certificate of return . Any dissatisfaction from any party should be redressed in tribunal and nothing more. “Any judge in lower or higher courts who concedes to the manipulation of any politician by giving a restraining order to stop INEC from presenting certificate of returns to declared winners faces job lose among other punishments. It is our duty to protect the judiciary, “the source noted 2019: NJC to Sack Erring Judges on Issuance of Certificate of Returns to Declared Winners http://igberetvnews.com/586273/2019-njc-sack-erring-judges-issuance-certificate-returns-declared-winners/

Nigerians in their usual manner of Sentimental emotional judgments. In as much as I condem this incident it does not mean that this is how they were treated all over the country. Most corpers were also given a befitting accommodation. We are only interested in posting evey single negativity in our dear nation. As if this is how INEC corper officials are being treated all over the county . Why not share pictures of other corpers who were properly treated also side by side with this . This is just an incident which is condemning anyways but that does not mean that this is how they are treated all over the country. |
From onset the PDP were never ready for a free & fair election. By attempting to RIG out a sitting Government. Kudos to INEC !!! |

Abia North: Traditional ruler invokes death on Kalu’s detractors Abia- Traditional ruler of Amaofufe Autonomous community of Igbere Abia State , His Royal Highness,Eze uwakwe Omiiko Ukaegbu on Saturday, insisted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Abia North Senatorial election , Dr Orji Uzor Kalu would win his Senatorial polls and the presidential polls for President Muhammadu Buhari as death would strike anyone working against Kalu’s ambition. The traditional ruler who made the assertion on the campaign trail of Dr Kalu in Igbere, maintained that the outcome of the general polls would deal a deadly blow to Kalu’s oppositions and detractors who he said “would find the shortest route to escape because the land of Igbere would fight them to death.” The outspoken monarch explained that Kalu’s “sterling performance “as governor gives him automatic right to vie for any position in Nigeria . He told his community people who came out enmasse to declare support for Kalu that enemies’ hard work to cause confusion in Igbere is a waste of time because Igbere people are full of love for Kalu . He said the sheer number of kalu’s fans trooping out for his ward to ward meetings in Abia North was a clear indication that the people held the former governor in highest regards. The Monarch lauded Kalu for what he noted were his giant strides in education, economic and agricultural revolution, as well as the attraction of projects in each council area of Abia state when he was governor. “ We own Igbere, we own Abia North, we own Abia State , Dr Orji Uzor Kalu will win his election and his friend president Buhari will also win in Jesus name . We thank you for this-opportunity to interface with you and rub on how to move Abia forward. The large number of genuine people attending your ward to ward meetings, represents how much you mean to the people of Abia and we are very proud of you . “Your educational , economic, agricultural drive and revolution in the state is legendary as you ensured free education, free medical and timely payments of salaries and pensions. “ Igbere love you so much and there is every reason and justification to collectively support your election and beyond “ the monarch lauded Similarly in his remarks, traditional ruler of Umuisi Autonomous community , His Royal Highness Eze Eme praised the former Governor for the development and leadership Abia experienced during his tenure. Eze Eme lamented that after Kalu, Abia was neglected, ignored and the people had been suffering, adding that “today umuisi people is happy to move with the person we know and our own in order for our people to be liberated” He noted that Kalu by conducts and actions has proven that he was “a real leader with the heart of a gold, a humane heart that feels for all” The Monarch therefore thanked the former governor for building all the roads in Umuisi and Igbere, just as he assured him of the total support of Umuisi people to ensure that he is elected to continue with the good job he is doing even as a non-senato “Today Igbere has a name because of Orji Uzor and we are looking forward to more glory. “The entire Igbere people are behind you and will massively vote for you to ensure you represent Abia North in the National Assembly.” He commented https://www.newtelegraphng.com/2019/02/senate-2019-monarch-invokes-death-on-kalus-detractors/

Most of these so called stand-up comedians like Basket mouth felt like they were gods in the comedy industry . How many upcoming comedians did they support and bring up. That's why they never saw the future of comedy and we're blinded. Most of them are not even that talented. Do they think doing a comedy skit is easy?? The likes of Mclively , Lasi si Elenu out of their ingenuity took it upon themselves to digital and they are making it and even more popular. Now you can sit in your car during hold up and easily make yourself Laff, even on your bed , without necessarily spending 10k for regular sit just to watch comedy . |
That's why I would never vote for Atiku when I'm not mad. |
Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu is right ...

What kind of stupid tweet is this . This fat toad called dele momodu has had immeasurable hate for Buhari simply because he wasn't given an appointment. Buhari has been their nightmare and will continue to be PMB 4+4 till 2023. |
