- The former governor said he was invited by Igbo group in Spain to attend their function but could not go because he was attending to his constituents - The senator condemned the attack on ex-deputy president of the Senate Ekweremadu and urged the government to look into it The chief whip of the Senate, Dr Orji Kalu, has described as unfounded, social media reports that he suspended his planned medical check-up to Germany because of what happened to Senator Ike Ekweremadu. Kalu disclosed this in a telephone interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, August 19, in Abuja. NAN recalls that the former deputy Senate president was physically assaulted in Germany at the weekend by some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Ekweremadu was invited as a speaker/special guest of honour at the 2nd Annual Igbo Cultural Festival in Nuremberg, Germany. Kalu said that since the Senate commenced its recess, he has been in his country home, interacting with his constituents. "I have been in my country home interacting with the people and settling disputes. The news that I suspended by planned medical check-up in Germany was not true. “I was invited by Igbo group in Spain to attend their function, I could not go because of the interaction with my constituents." Kalu had described the action of the IPOB members as uncivilised, unacceptable and barbaric. The former Abia governor urged Igbo people to respect their leaders at all levels. He noted that the only way the southeast zone can be prosperous was by embracing dialogue, peace and unity. Kalu also urged the embassy of Nigeria in Germany, the German government and appropriate authorities to bring the perpetrators of the ugly incident to book. He said: “After watching a viral video of the physical attack on former deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweramadu, I was not only disappointed, but irritated and disturbed with the action of some members of IPOB. “The assault on the senator is a slap on Igbo leaders regardless of age, party affiliation and religion. The perpetrators of the uncivilised act must face the wrath of the law. “Senator Ekweramadu is not only one of the Igbo leaders, but also a prominent Nigerian and as such should be accorded due respect by all and sundry at home and abroad. “For the south-east to move forward, the people of the zone must embrace dialogue as a way of resolving pertinent issues and eschew violence. Kalu appealed to Igbo people across the globe to be law-abiding and good ambassadors of Nigeria. https://punchng.com/trip-suspension-not-to-avoid-ekweremadus-treatment-kalu/amp/

The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, has cautioned the northern political elite against canvassing an end to rotational presidency as from 2023. Kalu, a two-term governor of Abia State, stated this in an interview with our correspondent in Abuja following the call by the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, for an end to power shift in the country. He maintained that nobody should canvass an end to power shift until the South-East and the North-East geopolitical zones had produced the President of Nigeria. The principal officer of the senate noted that the agreement at the end of the 1978 national conference was that all the major ethnic groups in Nigeria must produce the President on a rotational basis. He said, “Calling for an end to the zoning arrangement now will not bring peace to Nigeria. We have to complete the zoning system. That was the agreement at the earlier constitutional conference. All the major ethnic groups must produce the President before we would all agree that zoning has ended. “Canvassing the abolition of rotational presidency at this point is not in the interest of the country. It will not bring about unity. Anybody that is saying that the zoning arrangement for the Presidency of Nigeria should be abolished now is trying to cause civil and constitutional crisis which is not good for the society. “We should manage the crises at hand carefully in this country without causing further havoc. Currently, the unity of the country is under threat with the insecurity of lives and property across Nigeria.” Kalu warned against causing disunity among Nigerians but rather, everyone must work together to bring the nation back to a stable and peaceful state. “Governor el-Rufai should know that the South-East and the North-East must produce the President before his call for the abolition of rotational presidency could be considered and adopted. “Once the two zones have produced the President of Nigeria, then the position could be free for all. We have started the current zoning arrangement and we can’t change the rules in the middle of the game,” he said. https://punchng.com/kalu-cautions-northern-elite-campaigning-against-zoning/amp/

A Kenyan regional assembly was forced to adjourn its debate when a whiffy fart was let loose during the plenary. The fart prompted accusations and counter-accusations at the Homa Bay County assembly on Wednesday. “Honourable Speaker, one of us has polluted the air and I know who it is,” a lawmaker Julius Gaya told Homa Bay county assembly, accord to BBC. The lawmaker that was accused of farting immediately denied being responsible. “I am not the one. I cannot do such a thing in front of my colleagues.” Wanting to clear the air, reports say the speaker of the assembly Edwin Kakach requested for air freshener to be brought in and asked the lawmakers to take a break. “Get whatever flavour you will find in any office, whether it’s vanilla or strawberry,” Kakach reportedly said. “We cannot continue sitting in an environment that smells bad.” The assembly continued its debate after the smell subsided. https://m.guardian.ng/life/kenyan-regional-assembly-suspends-debate-over-fart/amp/?__twitter_impression=true https://twitter.com/iamkennethcole/status/1160185024299319296?s=08

"As a school, we have guided our children towards skill acquisition. It's good to become a doctor, barrister and other professional careers, but at the same time, one should go out and explore other areas of skill. Last year I had cerebral malaria and typhoid I spent over 120K on treatment. I visited 3 hospitals and one pharmacy and I received over 30 injections. It took me 2 months to fully recover. Just fear typhoid it kills and it's not about your money . The parasite is deadly that it defies treatments in fact in my own case their was nothing like fever , headache vomiting and other symptoms but my brain was on fire and I was so weak. Preventive measures include: drinking of enough clean water, regular medical checks especially when you move to a new environment, and clearness etc. |
Evil can always enter spirit but evil cannot enter soul . That is why people used to say "Evil Spirit" . That's the difference. ![]() |
