What's YOUR point? |
na wa o, that sound like such a fickle reason to be unsure if you want to marry the person you love. ur girl needs to stop looking for excuses, im sorry. I can testify to the fact that older doesnt necessarily mean wiser. |
Besides the wonder that is Google and of course Google Reader, as a designer, I live for sites like smashingmagazine.com and noupe.com. |
@HC I almost took yawa's side, but then you kinda have a point. |
Wow. Don't even know where to start with this one. Tell you what, go back and tell your friend to browse the sites of the top 20 universities, anywhere. Then start all over again. This looks like something from 1998. ![]() |
Ah, another ridiculous generalization takes the stage, I can't believe Seun saw it fit to put this on the front page. Alcohol made our MALE relative fall asleep in a gutter. It's not a FEMALE thing, a drunk man/woman is apt to do stupid things. And like someone said earlier, anyone that takes advantage of a drunk person is of low morals him/herself. Sheesh. |
Yeah, why must it be female? Could you also clarify WHY you would prefer a student or part time worker? |
@ finecat and mangetan Bankers dont think they're the highest paying workers. Other people do. Bankers know how much they earn after all. There's just so much hype surrounding bank workers by people that earn LESS, and they hear annual salary and think all sorts. Just because they happen to have those jobs doesn't mean they're stupid. U obviously have a lot of beef and resentment to address. |
magentam:Wow. Chick. Calm DOWN, ![]() |
They're not necessarily better. Many are good, I mean, definitely they've had access to a better rounded education, but there are also thousands of Nigerian graduates that know their salt. It's just that Nigerians attach a heavy importance, almost obsession with foreign 'anything', and expect by default the foreign trained graduate to be better. Which is a shame cos you'll see nigerian graduates with lots of experience and skill being put under newly graduated foreign graduates just because of the school they went to. |

My, my, all this aggression over the justification of the use of templates/boiler templates, ![]() |
@yawa I knoww, but I think I was too lazy to start thinking of how to code that in. Dunno that much about php, and i didnt want to start tinkering with the wordpress db. And I know the images would always be there, so, *shrugs* but thanks though. |
Nice. Very wordpress-y. I don't get something though, is it supposed to be a blog? ![]() |
Your work's very bleh. AND they all seem to suffer structurally, like you just place any content anywhere. And sparkly web graphics and marquees Uh, noo, |
I use a lightbox for my gallery, fantastic. Problem is, I don't change my images much, and i had to make thumbnail versions manually. sorry this is a bit off topic @webemerald, why put one image per page? From a viewer's standpoint, it's a bit frustrating that I have to click each link to see a new image. Why don't u arrange thumbnail versions of each pic on one page, and THEN the user can use the lightbox feature to scroll through each one. Right now, someone has to click to see the page, then click to OPEN the thumbnail, then click to CLOSE the lightbox, then CLICK AGAIN to go the next page, Of which the 'bigger' version is much bigger, thus kinda defeating the point of making me click in the first place. I don't think it's very user friendly. Just my 2 cents. |
*shrugs* i just tend to wonder why we cant have avatars or Private messaging. I dont really care, and it doesnt matter, just thought id mention |
I think people dont want their designers to use templates because it gives the impression of a lack of creativity on the designer's part. I personally have no problem with using a template as a BASE for a design, but many designers tend to change only the body content, and maybe two or more images. That, frankly, reeks of laziness. A web designer, cant show me a portfolio full of templates and expect me to be impressed. I'm sorry. The person didn't think up the code, design or layout, he just changed a few things on it. That's not the best. As a potential client, I wouldn't want my site to look like mirrored image of other sites. Especially a free template. So what am I paying the designer for? I feel people should use templates for inspiration. At the very most. |
Like Phiry said, you sometimes elicit the responses you get. And instead of taking things in good faith, you proceed to tear down the person's work/history. Personally, i PREFER getting reviews from people who know little about web development, because believe it or not, thats the majority of people that will visit your site at any given time. You obviously can't handle criticism well. Everyone can't phrase anything nicely to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside about your failures. If you think going somewhere else will prevent you from getting criticism, be it harsh or nice, then BYE. Abeg, carry your wahala and go. |
get mediamonkey. Google it. Converts to and from most formats. |
what the heck does it matter ![]() |
@hanen the banker,NA WA OOOO. this my bank job. E dey chook u for body? Why do you keep bringing it up?? What is the correlation between that and the topic at hand (which is that u've commited daylight robbery). Seriously, if u want to insult me, at least try and do it with sense/maturity. ![]() |
It was a 4 hours meeting that meant at least N2.7M into my account.OMG, really!? They're giving you THAT much for THAT?!? Wow, you really are talented: in finding sucker clients. Well done. You represent Nigeria as it is today- People with too much money paying tons for mediocrity. Thats kinda WHY we're not moving forward. Congrats. I think. Ok, not really. ![]() |
@na.com abeg give me five |
@yawa My dear, I dont really care anymore if he listens to me or not, na by force?, But it just provides a guilty pleasure for me everytime. seeing the whole madness unfold over and over again, ![]() It's odd, I know. |
ono:@ono Der's no beef o, It's just that we've been through these cycle before. Every site he brings fro review, we say the same thing and he reacts the same way, each time. If he's too proud to see beyond his point of view, its too bad. But nothing I said there was a lie. HE's the one that went off point by insulting my family and ancestors. *shrugs* |
If you're a fresh guy in web design, with no experience whatsoever, somehow, I think asking for pricing or even clients is the least of your problems. Instead, you need to learn the basics of web design, html, css, which tool is useful for you, dreamweaver or frontpage, or evn notepad. If you want to do proper development, it would help to learn some programming language of some sort, like PHP or ASP.net etc. Or at least some basics. Design elements like layouts and so on. Visit sites like www.w3schools.com and cssremix. com for ideas and tutorials. Once you're actually GOOD at webdesign, then you can start thinking of looking for clients. I won't encourage you to do it the other way round. |
Wow, dude. You're either a very good attention seeker or you really can't help embarrassing yourself. After all, everyone else is wrong and your'e right! What fools we are! Either way, keep doing what you do. Your posts bring entertainment to the Webmasters section for all and sundry! ![]() |
@mambenjame Sigh, Oya no vex. Abeg, carry on your discussion. |
Guys, really. There's nothing there. Really. As yawa said, whether use DW or notepad results are the same. So, why the whole 'challenge'? Is there some competition out there for the web designer thats better at giving himself stress im not aware of? If someone can code purely from notepad and chooses to do so, great. If u use dreamweaver, great. As a personal choice I use DW when its available (which it almost always is). Notepad when i dont. We really need more productive topics in this section; like troubleshooting 'how do I, ?', instead of all these, 'i think im good, what about you' discussions/challenges. ![]() |
AH, if my car develops a hitch. I could WALK! Hey, I'm not saying i dont know how A lotof the time, Ill use code view to make sure thigns dont mess up, but i wont design a site from scratch to finish!!!, but if there's dreamweaver around, darn it ill use it! ![]() |
