Whoever told you that story must have told you a lie. The thing is that Fela recorded his song Zombie which apparently was about military men. Fela must have got his inspiration from the military men in the barracks close to his house then. The soldiers didn't raise any eyebrow about the song that is insulting them. Some of them even loved it. What caused problem on that faithful day was that some of Fela's girls were shouting and insulting some soldiers passing his house with the song ( maybe you need to listen to it). They got the military men very angry and they did what they did. Obasanjo was the military Head of State then in Dodan Barracks but I don't think he was briefed before the soldiers carried out their action. I can only guess Fela's people got more than what they bargained for.
