Xavier5: Faith Healing should be banned, says who.....
Dear look, if someone believes believing in GOD is gonna heal him or her, my sister he or she has every right to do it without being answerable to anyone okay. No one forces anyone to go to his/her pastors for healing, he or she choosed so because he or she believes he or she is gonna be healed through prayer. And vice versa, if someone believes going to the hospital and undergoing medical treatment is gonna heal him or her, fine, it's his or her choice. Every one with his or her belief. what happens to freedom of choice.
What you should have said and i would have supported you is Orientation Of The Masses. Sensitizing, Orienting, creating awareness and informing the masses on the need to visit the hospital for their medical/health problems rather than patronizing prayer house. Banning isn't the right thing to do because you don't have the right to infringe on people's beliefs. They have the right to believe whatsoever they want to belief and act in accordance with it so far it's not a humanitarian, social and environmental threat.
Since you are actually looking for something to ban, why don't you canvess for the banning of abortion, prostitution, nudity, homosexuality, pornography, smoking, drug use and abuse etc rather than canvessing for the banning of something that isn't necessary. I don't disagree with you, but everything you mentioned in your last paragraph also borders on people's choices and freedom to choose what they'd like to do. All you also need in those instances are orientation and creation of awareness as to their negativity. |

john650: I'm sorry to say but Nigerian relationships are transactional. The love they show you is directly proportional to the money you give them.
My advice, look for a maid that is of marriage age and marry. They will show you more love than all these spoilt brats and demand less from you. Nice one bro....so long as she is not underage. ..for those who want to try....there must be a level of class before i even look at you as a lady, sadly soon after they hoodwink you, they fall back to their real level. Sad though. |

yabas: Honestly I dont even know where to start. I am tired of supporting girls financially. Since I started dating women, I cant say I have been lucky. Its always buy me this and buy me that. Phone, laptop, recharge cards, dash me, transport etc, I have done it all. Though when I recently started complaining, my close friend told me that he has also been doing same but didnt want to let guys know so that people will not laugh at him.
After all the expenditure, u still break up with them when you get tired of the demands. Does it mean that MAJORITY of Nigerian girls use guys for money? Or is it just me. I seriously need a gf that will not ask me for anything. Some of my friends will tell you how they have dated one or two wonderful girls that dont demand for anything but not me, I cant point to any girl that I have dated, that I didnt spend money on.
Guys I honestly want to know if this is a general problem or is it just me. ALWAYS meeting poor women, even now that I am looking for a wife, still meeting heavy demanders that I cant settle with. GOD HELP ME OUT. AMEN. Nice to know I am not alone in this quagmire. I am not even saying don't ask me for anything, just be reasonable and try and provide the basics, i will invariably play my role as a guy. I should recharge your phones by choice, i should transfer hair money by choice, i should suggest wardrobe makeover, but don't bring everything everyday to my table, i am not your dad for petes sake. Even transport money to come and collect other items? It gets to be annoying and embarrassing honestly |

Yemight474: Good morning. My name is Adeshina Waliyu, a 100 level student(lautech ogbomosho). There is a matter I have been worrying about, due to fear, I have fall in love with my phone searching for info about the issue. And nairaland is one of the site that I always tend to, to know about what I don't know because I believe there are many talented people and experienced people that can put me through. I have read many topics on this nairaland that relate to the issue that's bothering me yet I still feel like I haven't see what I need. May be it's because most of the topic I read were posted like 4 to 5 years ago, sorry to say I feel like Nigeria then is different from today's Nigeria. The issue that is bothering me, that makes me need the counsel or advice of people is about the course I was given. I's a pre degree student 2015/2016, I chose Civil Engineering but unfortunately I scored 255 in Pre degree and 245 in jamb, so I was given Pure and Applied Physics. Though at that time I was discouraged but later I got over it (Since physics is my best subject). Then I decided to study physics but getting to 100 level, what am hearing from people around me and my brothers is that I should change my course.. What they are telling me is that physics is among the best course in the world but not here in Nigeria. They said it's better to cross to Engineering. Though am just a 19 year old boy but I think it's better to start thinking about my future...... So I have been in a dilemma since because my decision will have Great impact to my future. I can't make a rash decision. That's why I decided to hear from people that will tell me what I don't know. Please is it true that the hope for science student especially physics graduates in time of job in this Nigeria is not much . I know life is unpredictable and we should follow our instinct. But it is better to know more. I will be very grateful if you can spare some of your time to give your opinion.. The chief information officer in my conglomerate had a first class in physics. He worked with a consulting firm, and has since joined us at a very high level. The opportunities with a good first degree are limitless, don't let anyone discourage you. |

The senator representing Kogi West District had earlier today been arrested by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and released.
Returning to his house after his release, he found that over 30 armed policemen had stormed his house, blocking both entry and exit from it. He wrote:
Over 30 heavily armed fierce looking mobile police men have just stormed My residence in Maitama, Abuja. All roads leading to House has been condoned off, as heavy mobile police men blocked entry & exit of the road. They currently laid siege on in and around The house.

Ornament2003: I cannot make any sense from what you posted here.
Do you understand English Language at all? Go through your contribution again.
You "lease the Hostel" to who, under what capacity? Guess you're either a potter, or something in the system.
From what I can pick from the post, the OP implies:
CMUL/LUTH of UNILAG: 1. Generates her electricity via Gas Plant, and effectively cut-off NEPA. 2. Key places like the theatres, ICU, Labor wards, etc enjoys 24/7 light, as there's no power failure. 3. Hostels have light all night till 8/9am, & from 5pm till d following 8/9am daily. 4. There's light in the hostels on weekends all through 5. The electricity can power all the institution's activities. 6. Taps and showers runs always in bathrooms and toilets. 7. Enter LUTH 24/7 you would see light, especially in key places.
Which of the above is a lie? Tell the world. And show us the evidence that the hostels have been leased by you.
Learn to appreciate something positive, no matter how small, if indeed you're a member of the community.
If we have that amount of electricity in every part of our nation, I am sure Nigeria would be a better place. So, learn to appreciate something good.
Thumb up to UNILAG, my alma mater! UNILAG generally, but this post is specifically about LUTH.... |
