Crime / Ex-nigeria Scrabble Captain Paul Sodje Allegedly Killed While Taking Ransom Mone by hardeyincah(m): 9:23am On Sep 10, 2020
A one-time captain of the Nigeria Scrabble national team, Paul Sodje, has died after he was reportedly abducted by suspected herdsmen in Ondo State.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation, Publicity Committee, Akintunde Akinsemola, who confirmed this to Punch, said the late Sodje’s body was found inside the bush in Idoani, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State on Tuesday, September 1.

According to Akinsemola, Sodje had gone to the bush to give ransom money to some kidnappers who had abducted his brother, Chris, four days earlier.

“Chris was going for his uncle’s funeral in Okwagbe, Delta State on August 28, when he was kidnapped at Ifon, Ondo State. The Fulani men demanded N100m but later reduced it to N1m.  His wife Flora and friends rallied round to raise the ransom.

Then his elder brother Paul and a friend took the ransom to them, yet the Fulani men murdered the two of them. Chris has not been found and the kidnappers have stopped communicating with the family.

Idoani elders led by Otunba Oladele Olapeju, who were searching for their kinsmen, who were also kidnapped, saw Paul Sodje’s body and that of the man that accompanied him to the herders rendezvous.

They took the bodies to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo'' he said

The late Sodje, who would have been 55 on Wednesday September 9, captained Nigeria to the African Scrabble Championship in Zambia, 2012.

His colleagues in the scrabble federation have taken to social media to mourn his death.

Since Buhari took over power the same thing has been happening to the Arm Forces especially the NA where they're been paid first or second week of the following month and most of this people are in the North-East suffering and the APC Administration will be suffering their families at home as well. But I've not seen how PMB has been blasted thus far as to this woman.
There's one thing most of you don't understand and it is so painful; the fact that this people give out this money to be paid to workers/salary earners but the big men use it to do business, increase it for their selfish interests before giving it out to the salary earners.
I have worked with HQ 3 DIV Finance and I know what I'm saying so don't just follow the masses to reprimand people, know the detailed info before giving critics.
Now as a Youth, can you at least help her in spotting out her errors rather than condemning her.

You don't know what u are saying, countless time the finance minister/OAG will say live on TV that they've signed and paid only for her to hold the payment. U are telling me to point out her errors and not condemn her. If I do, what's the work of her paid PA and over hundreds of staff under her ministry? Are u saying they ain't seeing her errors? Just yesterday she said every Nigerian got palliative ( is that an idiomatic expression or Irony) bros abeg park well joor

And the bitter part of it is that some of this beneficiaries are not even working for what they're been paid for but to talk rubbish on social media, insulting this INNOCENT WOMAN (i.e if INNOCENT)
I just pray she has the wisdom to tackle all this issues.
Lazy Social Media Youths (Some of them though)

That's not my issue with the woman

Either permanency or not na dem sabi

But it's not to much for the government to give them a permanent job if it's possible afterall they are looting and re-looting

Nevertheless! Not all beneficiaries abscond from work so they should be paid prompt . Since sadiya took over the Npower scheme she never paid month end, she either pays third week of next month or upper month....

Education / Bitter Truth About Npower Transition Of Batch A And B. by hardeyincah(m): 4:58pm On Jul 12, 2020
Npower scheme has been on the top list of achievements of this present leadership of All Progressive Congress (APC). It was created to lift one million young Nigerians out of poverty.
Though, it was stated to be just two years empowerment but for some reasons and considerations, the Federal Government of Nigeria allowed the first Batch to stay which was a good decision. After Batch (A)s' two years elapsed, they were enhanced with continued payments of their stipends, then, Batch (B) were recruited, making it approximately five hundred thousand (500,000) volunteers that were engaged in the program.
Everything seems to be moving smoothly, until the institutionalization of the program which lead to the creation of Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management headed by Honourable Sadiya Umar Farouq. From that moment, Volunteers started complaining.
Their complaints are:
* Delay in payments
* Some volunteers have not been paid since March 2020.
* No devices for some Batch A and all Batch Bs
* Some volunteers were unlawfully exited from the program.
On Disengagement Issue:
The information was first published on Nation Newspaper which raised heavy dust on social media and at national level. Some of the volunteers took to the Npower Twitter handle and Facebook page as well to confirm the information, Npower told them to disregard it. Later, the Honourable Minister said that the program Will be streamlined after payment of May stipend for efficiency.
Shockingly, the volunteers heard a Breaking News of disengagement over television and radio stations. Till now, the disengagement news has not been posted on any of the Npower social media which were the means of information for them.
Though, some volunteers got some confirmations through Npower response to their questions. The minister later announced the exiting of Batch A and B in June and July respectively. Her reason was to create space for other youth to come in and benefit from the program.
*On Transition Issue* :
I can remembered vividly in 2018 at the end of first Batch duration, Mr. Akande announced plan to disengaged volunteers from the program, negative criticism from opposition party became the news headlines and suddenly, the issue of transition came up. Transition icon was created on the volunteers' portals as shown below;
The volunteers were asked to log in to their portals and select their choice of transition program.
The options were;
* Class Teacher
* Community Police
* Farming
* Entrepreneurship among others
Below is the screenshot;
Some volunteers made their selections but majority could not because the option was taken down which never appeared again despite Npower personnel promises to bring it back. Batch A was later informed that they have been enhanced and no one will go back to the street. That was how the issue of transition was silenced since then.
Now, the new Minister came up with the transition again.
She said, " We have commenced the transitioning of beneficiaries from Batches A and B into government entrepreneurship schemes engaging private sector bodies to absorb SOME of the volunteers after the completion of PSYCHOMETRIC test to determine competency and placement into various opportunities. The Federal Government is committed to the continuation and expansion and as such will now begin enrollment and on-boarding of new Batch of beneficiaries.
Till this moment, no information has been to volunteers on the nature of the transition program despite promising to update them since three weeks ago.
MY VIEW:
* On the reason of exiting current volunteers to create space for new ones: Vice President, prof. Osibanjo said that no volunteer will be drop and that more 500 youth shall be taken to complete the number one million volunteers. So, I see no sense in disengaging the current volunteers just to bring in new ones.
Batch (A) were not disengaged before Batch (B) were engaged. So, why disengaging A and B for C especially at this critical time whereas Nigeria has the resources to fund even 5 million volunteers.
* On the issue of transition: The bitter truth here is that, I am beginning to see it as politically motivated just to silence the volunteers and place them in suspense. I don't think there is any proper arrangement to transitioning of beneficiaries, if not, the updates would have been communicated to the volunteers and any time a clear question about transition is asked to Npower personnel, the answers are always not clear.
Well, my advice to volunteers is that their hope should be 50-50.
If goodies happened, they should enjoy but if ugly happened, they should move on because life must go on.

Popular socialite, Omotola Taiwo Temilade, aka Omohtee, who had called out Dr Anu Adepoju of MedContour following a botched cosmetic surgery, has told of how she became suicidal and had to spend millions to treat herself after the botched surgery.
.
Speaking to BBC pidgin, she narrated how she wanted to make her tummy flat and "top up" her butt. She decided to go to MedContour for Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) and Liposuction.
.
She said she paid 1.2 million Naira for the procedure.
.
However, she said that after the procedure, her body was a mess. She couldn't stand, her waist became numb.
.
"After the surgery, I started having complications. I started having belly burns, waist burns, waist numb, and after two months I started having fat necrosis.
.
"Fat necrosis is when liquid fat that has turned into dirt starts coming out. The thing will just come out like boil, e go come burst, start to dey comot the fat. Up till now, my waist is still numb. As I stand up like this, my body is not complete. One is bigger than the other."
.
She said she couldn't bathe alone after surgery and her brothers had to help carry her. She added that she was suicidal and constantly thought of taking her life so her brothers hid the knives and every other dangerous object in the house.
.
She said she constantly wondered who will marry her now that everyone knows that she had a botched surgery.
.
She said she shared her story for others to learn but the reaction she got afterwards was horrible as people mocked her and wished her dead.
.
Reacting, Dr Anu put the blame on Omohtee for not following post-surgery instructions.
.
"She come hospital come see us for follow up when she get issues. And usually, when you advice patients on wetin to do after surgery and them no follow am because dem feel say dey Sabi how to take care of themselves e dey give issues and at the end of the day, them go say na doctor cause am."
.
Doctor Anu reiterated that she is qualified to perform cosmetic surgery. She added that she has never claimed to be a plastic surgeon.
