lol. You know nothing about gambling. When i lost my first 30k i tot i would never gamble again. Now i have lost over 5million. I have a thread here on nairaland where i talked about gambling. I had lost 2million at that point and yet today i have exceeded 5million. Breaking free from gambling is not by being willed, you have to create structures to keep your finances away from your direct control

I got it deactivated after i left a note of wanting to commit sucide on nairaland. About learning a skill, i've tried programming. I have some knowledge on c++ and python but i can't practice because i lack the necessary tools which i can't afford. I've tried mechanic, it was Mum's pressure that made me to stop. Tried generator mechanic, same.


I'm currently teaching some pupils at our home but half of the pay goes to mum. I received 3k yesterday, i initially wanted to register for P-ume but mum borrowed it promising to pay today. I could have gone to compt villa et all, Mais Je n'ai pas le temp and i'm not in Lagos. I've wanted to try freelancing but i have no tools except this Java phone i'm holding.

My belief is that faith is what makes a prayer matter. Once you've prayed to God concerning any matter, you can begin your work with a clear mind knowing fully well that God is on your side because you have faith in him. As a Christian, the prayer really only needs to be done once, walking with Christ means walking in divine favour so once you've prayed your chances of success with hard work are at 100% if God has that thing planned for your life. Remember that giving your life to Christ literally means "giving your life to Christ". In other words, you are of Christ and you aspire to live as Christ did, spreading faith in God and the word of God.

This brings me to back to what I said earlier, the work you've done with prayer, if it doesn't work out, it means that thing is not planned for you by God, he has something else in store for you to achieve your destiny as a child of God.

Your personal dreams die in a sense as a Christian so things are not only about you as a person anymore, you as a Christian need to think in the big picture and understand that what you get involved in is not for "financial blessings, promotion in your place of work" etc. Christianity is highly misunderstood in this country and worldwide which is why it seems confusing to a lot of people. The best way to understand it is that Christianity is not a Religion, it's a way of life. You aspire to live as Christ did.

That's not really how prayer works.
Followers of Christ are told numerous times in the Bible, to continually pray......meaning being in a continual "mind-set" of prayer.

So even for your example of an accident victim being operated on, there is still a need for prayer (if only in the mind) that God will keep the victim from bleeding to death or that the specific doctor's hands would be guided safely and successfully through the surgery.
Each and every single time that I fly, I assume that two skilled pilots are in the cockpit.....HOWEVER, I know the importance of praying that the pilots hands will fly me safely through the air...and land me safely. However if an accident happens in the air, I still need to be praying for some form of divine intervention even if we are going thousands of miles a minute nose-diving straight into the ocean...God forbid!
Doesn't mean that I won't die though....

So what you have is the whole concept of "prayer, faith and works."
Now that doesn't mean that the prayer will get answered in the exact way we would hope though...
There really shouldn't be a monopoly on "what" qualifies for prayer...cause ALL things qualify.

Yeah! Prayers could actually make you feel better, because you psychologically are assured there is a god working for you. It can make you confident etc. It can only work psychologically. Cos it is in your own head. Dont expect it to raise the dead. Dont expect it to move mountains, dont expect it to do anything.

great people always make mistakes in life. Only average people live uneventful, unadventurous lives. Most big thinkers are big risk takers. You succeed -good. You fail -you are finished. That is life. Billionaires you see today did not get there by playing by the rules. If they had failed with the risks they took many of them would have totally ruined their lives. Balance is key! You have a great mind. Risk only what is yours and you can afford to lose, dont stop taking risks, only take calculated risks

To me, there are things you pray for God to give u and things u have to work to earn without praying. Gone are the days when God sent manna to people.

For instance, a person who has a gruesome accident and is bleeding profusely does not need prayers at that moment but adequate medical attention.

On the other hand, a person who needs a good wife/husband, child, spiritual protection, good health, needs to pray because only God gives these.

I'm just a teen, 17. But i've been depressed since i lost my dad the year 2009. So many things has contributed to my depression which i will list below.


1. Mom treats me like second class. My elder brother always gets that first class treatment. I get all the blames, i'm always misunderstood and insulted. She claims i'm the source of her troubles. But whenever my brother's gone to school, she begins to show love.


2. My brother bullies me almost everyday through physical abuse(he's muscular) and verbal abuse. He uses me as a punching bag and he claims there's a demon in me.


3. Family debts. Mum is planning to take a loan to pay my brother's school fees, we haven't even paid last year's rent. Right now, i don't know if i'll go to school if my admission clicks.


4. I have no friends.



I have resolved several times to take my life but i just can't. What painless method can i use? i'm sick and tired of this world. I'm super lonely and i have no life in me.

You are too hinged to your family and you think you are too young to step out.

Get a job. Step out!

Hinge yourself to those who would inspire you. I know guys who are your age and are into graphics design, video editing, music production etc. They inspire each other. Go to ijesha along apapa way and see guys hustling. Go to computer village and learn how to repair phones, laptops etc. You can sponsor yourself to school. You can build your life. Dont just stay under that roof everyday and expect to be inspired. Your life is worth as much as you value it

bro which prayers does god even answer? Let us start from there. He keeps saying he answers some people. Which people? And what prayers has he answered? At least if i say electricity conveys energy, i can demonstrate it in several ways and it would always be true and standard. Can he claim god answers prayers and still be unable to demonstrate it?

That is why religion permits for so much excuses when it fails. Why does god not heal amputees? Excuses. But you say god answers prayers... more excuses. Not practical, cannot be demonstrated without fail. That is a big difference.
You dont have to understand electricity or technology, it would ALWAYS work, it is absolutely practical. Can be studied, improved on and replicated. Now get your head out of your azz and see the world called reality.

If god works we would see it. God does not work. They all lack the ability to do what our minds can naturally do. It is all in our head that we see good things than come our way as blessings from god. After Surviving a broken home, and Becoming disillusioned with Religion
I managed to Gain Admission into University after trying close to 7 times cos of different long reasons
It became worse when the only sensible ppl in my lives left one by one my beautiful, very intelligent and humble smart but modest Sister/older cousin who been living with us after her own mother died when since she was very young, was brutally raped, she may turn ppl down but respectfully she never used her, beauty intelligence to manipulate ppl get money or respect she never disrespected others, from them on she became introverted, became surprisingly loose, sexually, ppl would brag that how would a very fine girl be so easy to get etc. Normal fuckboy talks then had a baby after failed abortions, ppl gossiped even stupid church members talked, no comfort whatsoever
When I was in School I got news that she died mysteriously, most likely Suicide
B4 this time we had been sent out of the house after the Dad married another woman, and were in a family house that came with its own problems, I was in School a first class student but had always been a depressed person
Long story I dropped out, short she passed on, Mother passed on too. began to really see ppl for who they are, Disloyal n life you are on your own,
I made mistake after mistakes then the only thing holding me was religion when I began to be confused with that it went down further
Then health problems set in, Financial problems obviously doubled, the Brother is not even worthy of being called a brother, now I got message from the father of her son my nephew that the son needs to be flown to India, I have even forgotten about him and is the reason, I postponed me plans
If the Government has paid me a dime from the pension atleast I would use that, but your lovely Ambode is still the best Governor,

The answer depends on what you expect from a prayer.
