Rilwayne001: What most of you fools don't know is that this act of stoning the devil is not really meant to mean that devil is tied down at that particular place and people start stoning at it, rather it is parts of rite which anyone going for Hajj is obligated to do. It has historical background of which the significance hails from Prophet Ibraheem when the devil appeared to him three times. At each of the appearances, Angel Jibril told Prophet Ibrahim to pelt the devil. Thus, the basis of the significance of the ritual. All three pillars represent the devil: the first and largest represents his temptation of Abraham against sacrificing Ishmael (Ismāʿīl); the second represents the temptation of Abraham's wife hājar induce her to stop him; the third represents his temptation of Ishmael to avoid being sacrificed. He was rebuked each time, and the throwing of the stones symbolizes those rebukes. It serves as nothing but rememberance of how the faithful men of the past showed faith in God just so we can learn from them too. The stoning of the pillars also represents the repudiation of man's self and the act of casting aside one's low desires and wishes.
All these you fools don't ever bother to know, and you come shouting logic on what you have no iota of understanding. Where's the logic in the nonsense you posted now? If you don't know something, isn't it better to try to know instead of coming up with illogical assumptions? See, you cant apply your understanding of Christianity and Bible to the Islam, the two are totally different.
With sincerity and delight i want to congratulate my dear muslim brothers and sisters. Home and abroad for another Eid Allah as granted us to be part of. Eid Mubarak!
And to our noble brethren in far away Meccah who are on hajj. May allah count it as ibahdah for them.
Hajj is a time to be tuned with Almighty Allah. And one of the rites is the popular stoning of the devil.
it is heart breaking and sad to see christians, atheists and unbelievers, infidels if you choose to call them that,... all laughing at the millions of faithfuls that are caring out this sacred act of pelting the devil with pebbles. This is no joking matter. This is a serious act which calls for our solemn reflection and thoughts.
Many among those stoning the devil are DOCTORS, LAWYERS, SCIENTISTS, PROFFESORS, intellectuals, leaders, oldmen and women!
This should be a lesson that stvpidity has no age limit or profession or any boundaries.
Anyone can be fooolish.
This is an act that should instead remind us that majority are not always right. That you have christian scientists that believe in the rubbish in the bible, does not mean they are right.
Logic and only logic can save humanity from the fooolishness that comes with religion.
Image123: What is the meaning and purpose of your life for instance?
lol! You think atheists dont have life values? When we say life as no purpose, we mean we are inconsequential at a cosmological scale. We dont have what you would call "DIVINE PURPOSE".
Even a serial killer has given his life purpose.
To chase women could be a life purpose.
Anything could be your choice purpose.
We speak against divine purpose. We dont agree that a god has given anyone any special purpose. We choose what we want to do with our lives. Good or bad is a matter of choice and perception.
Truckpusher: Another fallacy. Sports trading is a lucrative business unless you’re gambling. While would a sane mind lose over 5m naira when you could just do a 1.30 odds or more thing when you could just place it all on one bet back to back. Which means even if you lose the lead bet you’ll get your capital back with some change . Stop gambling like a fool . Trade like a pro.
lol! Indeed. Truckpusher the wise gambler. I wish you all the best. Not here is banter words. All i know is, her advice to ladies is sound and is generally true.
Lordkratus: most opinion here are formed by the nature of guys op associate with. clearly all the dude op knows are broke gamblers at a side betshop.
may be true. But i am a big gambler and regretting it. She is right. I have a friend too who is a big gambler he has lost over 11milion that i know of. In fact he as a court case today cos of ordinary 1million he cant pay back. This is a guy that had chains of businesses and gambling ruined him. Shey mine is just a little over 5million... keep betting big and see where it lands you.
It is even better to be betting with N100. Honestly. If you are a business man, please stay away from sports betting
mizzbouqui: I cant start a relationship with a gambler, that answers your question.
i am a gambler and I support you. I have lost a fortune to betting. Indeed, ladies should stir clear of gamblers. My next move is to start a gambling company, i realize that is the only way to make money out of it and not from gambling. Before the year ends my company wld be online. Working on that. Ignore those saying trash they dont know anything. If i was told about 3years ago that i would lose 500k in betting i wont believe it, today i have lost well over 5million. And just 4 years ago i had never gambled in my life. Hated it with passion. It is an addiction that distracts a man from business. So it is better i make it a business instead. Bet9ja making over 10billion in pure profits per week. Time to get sense
Pysam: have u heard of things happening in northern Nigeria.let me ask u too should Christians there pick up guns and fight. Let me also ask you have u heard of Boko Haram. Islamic brotherhood. Etc. Should Christians setup their own rebels or killing groups.
thought christianity was about being different. Did not know you are to do everything people of the world do.
kevoh: Only honest Christians [s]who probably are already on the path to being agnostic, atheists or simply irreligious anyway[/s] might be able to come with meaningful discussions on this thread.
The rest hate questions like this that shake the very foundation of their faith even if it is small shaking sef not earthquake proportion and prefer to remain in their sheep/zombie status . They know tackling questions like this will lead them to the glaring reality and the truth. Their Pastors are wiser and know that this god business is a farce that is why they are always with beefed up security personnel armed to the teeth, some even employed bomb disposal units for their venues!
indeed. They always hate questions. As if this are not questions they should be asking themselves
alBHAGDADI: The thing is, you are not a Christian, therefore you have no right to speak or judge concerning Christian matters.
Go and play with your atheist friends.
but christians have all the right to talk about muslims or traditional worshippers right? Lol. Even going out to preach to them and condemning their religions. Indeed you are an hypocrite
alBHAGDADI: No one should pay this thread any attention because it wasn't opened by a believer but someone whose intent has always been to mock Christianity.
you dont want to be a better person. This is like people challenging slavery and it's link with religion. Those who feel threatened would fight it. Dont listen to him!!! Dont listen to him!!!! Even the pharesees and saducees did not what people to listen to Jesus. That is who you are! An hypocrite. Who does not want the truth but his own convenience.
hmmm. So those who dont take up arms would be allowed to die if attacked? Why wount heaven help them. And exactly how does heaven help those who help themselves? Does heaven make their shooting to be accurate or what exactly would be heaven's contribution?
we are talking about now. Should christians have weapons? Those christians with guns in their homes, are they undermining God's ability to protect them? Are they saying christians who rather trust God are not wise?
This is a comprehensive documentary that is very thought provoking.
Let me try and summarise the video for those who wont be able to watch the video.
Video summary
1. Video is a documentary that was shot in Kentucky USA. One of the most christian dominated states in the united states.
2. Video centers around the belief that christians should and are actually taking up arms to protect themselves.
3. A church's special program was the focal point. this church hosted a program where they gave out guns after a raffle draw
4. Trying to gain a balance, the documentary featured a Mosque too and inquired if it would also be acceptable if mosques starts sharing guns to worshippers. The imam of the mosque rightly answered that it would be very ridiculous and that it would cause an outcry against muslims if they ever did what the church did.
5. There is a gun factory that makes guns just for christians. They make semi-automatic rifles called the CRUSADER. Modelled after the US M16 assault rifle.
as a Christian what is your take on this? Is it right that God be put aside and guns or any weapons be relied on for protection?
Why do christians find it alarming if muslims are also taking up arms.
What is your take on self defence?
This are relevant questions, relevant to this country and relevant in this period.
You would recall General Danjuma, a christian also called for nigerians to take up arms. Lets discuss this issue.
Mobilia: Hmmm.... I have to admit that I have been so skeptical about the concept of "juju", "sorcery" or "witchdoctors", "charms/spells" etc. as it relates to Nigerian superstition since I joined Nairaland....mainly due to the fact that I wasn't raised nor have I ever lived in Nigeria...although I am a follower of Christ. I even mocked the whole concept a few times on Nairaland...which I shouldn't have done and apologize for. I just couldn't understand the concept of a human being turning into a "witch"...or an "animal". It just made no sense to me whatsoever. I will still say that I have some doubts about the human/object/animal transformation thing...but I will say that I have spoken to some people (within the last year) from other countries and islands such as Guyana, Suriname, The Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, St. Martin who have really experienced or seen some "lesser" supernatural situations. I was so eager to hear some of the stories so I could lift the idea that no way could any extraordinary supernatural evil event could exist. I even tried to ask my dad a few times (about what he may have experienced growing up in Nigeria in regards to superstition).....but it's a subject he refuses to speak about. I cannot deny what people may have experienced....and say that certain things didn't happen if in actuality they did.. Nollywood though hasn't helped though. It seems to propel superstition to an extraordinary level of "reality" fpr Nigerians who may not fully understand some things. I must admit that I have been a "doubting Thomas" who said, ".......Unless I stick my fingers through Jesus nail pierced hands, then I won't believe....." Paraphrased John 20:25 KJV. But I do not desire to see "evil" manifest in my life like that. However, the only way I can perhaps understand the concept of "evil" is to know that there is a great controversy between "good" and "evil". Just as God and His holy angels live to minister and guide those who have chosen to follow Him, the other side exists too...the enemy and his angels seeking to kill, destroy and devour. I guess it also boils down to what one truly puts his faith and trust in and I wish that people would stop putting so much faith, adoration and attention to a "created being" whose destiny has already been decided based on his own choice. I happen to believe that whatever evil the enemy may use to build up his army of believers, my Lord and Savior is more powerful... and has already won the battle.
smh. What a pity. Only retards reason the way you do. Have you ever paused to wonder why 3rd world countries are in the shithole they are in? Dumb people wld rather engage in voodoo and bullcrap than get an education. Oh! When i say education i dont mean getting a degree, we have millions of degree holders here in nigeria who are daft and are as good as illiterates. You seem to be one. Whites also believe in voodoo, a small packet of them and guess what? They are they ones you see contributing nothing to the advancement of humanity and civilisation. read through this thread and see the daft people you align yourself with.
*spits*.
It is people like you that makes the it seem the black man is inferior to other races. While the world is advancing, you are busy with illogical hearsays and old wives tales.
Martinez19: True. Some are later happy that they never committed suicide (one of them even posted here) some are still in the backhole and it's even getting worse but I agree that we should always give it a try because for those that later make it, it's worth it.
it is bro. We all gonna die eventually so lets face the damn thing. Tho no big deal, if afterall he/she still wanna die, no p. Do the bloody thing with no drama and ensure you make provisions for ur corpse. That is the best way to go. Not creating a mess for people around to take care of. Lolz
Martinez19: @hardmirror, please help me coach this one.
lol. To each his cross. I dey carry my own, let him carry his. By the way, gamblers aint the same i know people who cant gamble more than N200 max. such people cant have problems people like me have. I dont have regard for money
Martinez19: Lol. Nice thread. Truth is suicide and depression is not something you can understand until you experience it you might like to think you know but wait till you experience it. Situations and circumstances differ from people to people as well as their severity. Individuals differ so one must not make the mistake of using one's self as a yard stick to talk to depressed individuals. Moreover, what one sees as important in life is what another sees as rubbish. Some seek academic prudence while some seek money. Many once told themselves no matter what I will never commit suicide but many years later they become suicide victims. I try to encourage suicidal and depressed individuals but I don't push them by all means to live or tell them how valuable life is because to someone that is depressed and suicidal, life has no meaning and is of no value to them. When I want to tell them that there is light at the end of the tunnel, I ask myself "how do I know?", it's easy to advise them to pick themselves up but life is not easy like that, for every successful man, there thousands of unfortunate individuals.
I also think it's naive to say tell them that others are worse off. Truth is whether we like to acknowledge it or not, certain lives and living conditions are not worth it. They are not worth living. Suicide does not discriminate, it happens to the rich and poor, black and white, wicked and good. The topic is complex, live your life the way you want.
actually i think it is best we encourage people who express their depression to us. That is the first step. Many are glad they were talked out of the act. We can never tell, we just have to try.
