On 6th February 2014 the Leader of IPOB and the Lion of the East, my friend and brother Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, said the following:

“As they campaign vigorously for elections, you would think, they are coming to grow the economy, enthrone justice, breed unity and tolerance, love for one another. No, they are coming to elevate Hausa-Fulani supremacy, to reposition the security agencies by sacking all competent hands and replace them with their kinsmen to drive their ethnic domination of the Biafrans, the Fulani herdsmen will be armed and encouraged to slaughter us with impunity, and their masters will protect them. They are coming to ensure that my people are enslaved forever. Those who do not, believe me, will soon see it happen before their eyes.

There is no gainsaying that he has been proved right.

On 2nd December 2014, he went further by saying, “Then a group deadlier than Boko Haram will emerge, they will seize our farmland, rape our women, kill our people and their master will protect, defend and even arm them because their sole agenda is to enslave us forever. Those who cannot see it now will soon see it. The hatred in their souls for my people is legendary. They do not see us as humans. They kill, they slaughter, they burn and they destroy. Mindless bloodletting is in their DNA. My people are in trouble”.

5 years later every word that Nnamdi has uttered in this prophecy has come to pass. Love him or hate him can anyone doubt the fact that God spoke through him on at least these two occassions?

What have we not seen in Nigeria? What have we not been through? What have we not suffered? What have we not been afflicted with? What have we not been subjected to?

First, it was political sharia. Then Islamist Boko Haram. Then terrorist Fulani herdsmen. And now Ruga cow settlements.

Nigeria has become the biggest shithole on the African continent. We are like an open public toilet that has never been flushed. Everything about our country stinks!

They say they want to establish Ruga settlements all over the country for the Fulani and their cows. Is cattle business Government business?

Cows were made for men, men were not made for cows. Cow-love is unnatural and bestial. For a man to view a cow as a woman and feel aroused by it is sickness.

They cannot push a nation to the brink of war simply because of their inexplicable and disgusting attraction to a mooing cow and their inordinate ambition and insatiable desire to conquer others.

They cannot use their cows and herdsmen from hell to cut us short and mow us down like the winter wheat and the summer grass.

They have taken everything from us: our nation, our dignity, our identity, our future, our self-respect, our destiny, our lives, our liberty, our faith, our hope, our resources, our substance and so much more. And now they want to take away our land!

Well, I have news for them: this will not happen without a fight! It can only happen over our dead bodies! They have removed the gloves and they are brazenly baring their fangs.

Ours is a government of the Fulani, by the Fulani and for the Fulani. Ours is not a nation but a conquered, occupied and subjugated vassal state which was specifically and cleverly crafted and forged for the benefit and advantage of the Fulani, their stooges and their cows.

This is self-evident. It is an incontrivertable and indisputable fact. And it raises a number of fundamental questions about our supposed unity and so-called nationhood.

We are constrained to ask: are we really one nation? Were we EVER one nation?

Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the Premier of the old Western Region of Nigeria and the erstwhile Leader of the Yoruba, raised this question in his famous book titled “Paths To Nigerian Freedom” as far back as 1947 and his answer was a resounding “no”.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the termination of appointment of the Current Executive Secretary of the NHIS, Prof. Usman Yusuf and has approved the appointment of Prof. Mohammed Nasir Sambo as the new Executive Secretary.

This was made known in a statement on Monday night by Mrs. Boade Akinola, the Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Health.recalls that Prof. Yusuf has been on administrative leave sequel to crisis rocking the leadership of the lacklustre health agency.

According to the statement, the change at NHIS followed the recommendations in a report by an Independent Fact Finding Panel on the leadership of the health agency.

The statement added, “Similarly, the President also approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of NHIS and directed the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health to exercise full powers of the Council pending the constitution of a new Board.

“President Buhari has also approved the appointment of Dr. Chikwe Andreas Ihekweazu as Director–General (DG) of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

“The appointment is in line with the provisions of section 11(1)(3) of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(Establishment) Act, 2018.”

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in Abuja said that Nigeria will continue to support the International Criminal Court (ICC) as much as possible to enable it fulfil its mandate.

Receiving the Nigerian-born President of the ICC, Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji at the State House, President Buhari appealed to developed countries to take the ICC “more seriously in order to strengthen the rule of law and democracy.”

Buhari, in a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and publicity, Femi Adesina, said “The ICC provides a moral strength for victims to receive justice against internal and external injustice.”

He also commended Judge Eboe-Osuji for the achievements of the ICC under his presidency.

Earlier, the President of the ICC had congratulated President Buhari on his re-election and successful inauguration for a second tenure.

He lauded the Nigerian leader’s “strong and unambiguous statement in support of the rule of law” and for the Court and its principles during his visit to the headquarters of the ICC in The Hague last July.

Judge Eboe-Osuji appealed to President Buhari to continue to support the ICC, and to urge African leaders whose countries have not ratified the Rome Statute which established the Court to do the needful

There appears to be rising tension among the over 150 delegates from all clans and chapters in the Niger Delta region over alleged imposition of candidates and manipulation of the process adopted by the electoral committee to elect new executives that will pilot the affairs of the Ijaw National Congress, INC, the apex Ijaw socio-political group.

The election, which has divided the aspirants along the line of Government candidates and those not anointed by the Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, is already generating bad blood among Ijaw leaders and elders.

It was gathered that the Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, has reportedly mobilised support for a former Police Affairs Minister, Alaowei Broderick Bozimo to emerge as President of the INC in the forthcoming convention of the body.

Whereas the Governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media Relations, Mr. Fidelis Soriwei, advocated for a rancour-free and fair INC convention on June 29.

But during a meeting with leaders of the Western Zone including INC presidential hopeful, Bozimo, in Warri, Delta state, Dickson said it was important to have an arrowhead with name, reputation, capacity and understanding of the issues and challenges facing the Ijaws of the Niger Delta, as INC President, especially with current realities in the nation.

it was further gathered that in view of the anticipated crisis within the ranks of Ijaw elders and the threat of the formation of a parallel Ijaw National Congress (INC), the Rear Admiral W,G,Yanga (retd), who heads the electoral committee, forced all aspirants to sign a controversial form to pledge and sign a declaration against possible violence and protest against the outcome of the poll.

It was also learnt that the controversial signing of a declaration form yesterday was another threat by the state government against those plotting to move against the alleged imposition of candidates.

A vice presidential aspirant and the state chairman of the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), Chief Nengi James, in a letter to the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, through his lawyers, E.G.Aderigha (Tamara Chambers), explained that with his status as a UN Peace Ambassador, he is not a man of violence, “it is the instruction of our client that your exalted committee should well ensure and assure the nation that you abide by the rules and regulations and give every aspirants a level playing ground and to ensure that the election is conducted in a free and fair atmosphere that will be rancor free.

“Despite being a man of peace and a respected Chief, our client vehemently stand against plot or attempt to impose any candidate on the Ijaw people or adopt any candidate at the election. It should be noted where there is a violation of democratic norms or should there be any attempt to intimidate, harass or impose any candidate in disregard of democratic principles, we shall not hesitate to use every means available to us within the confines of the law to protect the rights of our clients.”

Yanga has however said that all is now set for the elections scheduled to hold on Saturday at the Ijaw House in Yenagoa, adding that 31 candidates are jostling for various positions.

He said: “At this instant, every material and personnel for the election have been put in place and are ready to prosecute the election to a successful conclusion, the sensitive and non-sensitive materials are already prepared, waiting for the D-Day.

“The election is for delegates only, and the list of delegates, as composed by the various clans, chapters and diaspora that make up the INC has been handed over to us by the steering committee, so non delegates are not expected at the venue of accreditation and the election respectively. Before the voting proper, candidates for key positions like the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Publicity Secretary will present manifestoes.

“We are not aware of some complainants that attended some of our activities, but hereby restate categorically that all our activities have so far been executed as per plan except where expediency dictated an adjustment.”

Bishop Emma Gospel Isong, co-coordinator of Interfaith Anti-corruption Network of Nigeria (IANN), has decried the use of Bible and Quran to swear in public office holders who continually loot the nation’s treasury.

Speaking to Us on the use of holy books to swear in public officers in Nigeria, he lamented the use of Bible and Quran to swear in public office holders was not achieving results. Isong spoke shortly after a one-day symposium on combating corruption through interfaith platforms in Nigeria project 2018-2020, sponsored by MacArthur Foundation.
He said, “We have discussed here that in using Bible and Quran to swear in public office holders, maybe the intention was for them to have the fear of God and Allah but it is not working, lifting Bible and Quran in your hands, has not served as any deterrent to any public officer, the more Bible and Quran they use the more money are disappearing.

“We suggest that we use the Constitution to swear in public office holders. If somebody must use Bible or Quran, he must adhered to what the Bible or Quran says. Bible is against corruption and you have an Imam here, they also told us that Quran is against corruption;

“So in using the faith-based organisation, we are able to pass our message through the pulpit because we are people that have the control of the minds and heart of the people, so it is easier to influence their action through our messages.”

Bishop Isong regretted the continuous use of Bible or Quran to swear in public office holders who continually abused the contents by indulging in corruption.

“What we are saying about the use of Bible or Quran to swear in public officers who continually misbehave despite what we are saying, the religious leaders should go back and put their houses in order.

Bags filled with cocaine have been discovered on a military plane travelling with Brazil President, Jair Bolsonaro, to the G20 summit, according to CNN.

The cocaine was allegedly planted there by a Brazilian air force member.

The plane was making a stopover in Seville, Spain, before heading to this week’s G20 summit in Osaka, Japan when the Brazilian air force officer was detained.

The officer was “suspected of transporting narcotic substances”, the Brazilian defence official said in a statement to CNN, which prompted officials to search the plane.

Spanish police said cocaine was found in the suitcases.

The drugs amount to approximately 39 kilograms, Brazil’s military police said in the statement.

“We are investigating the facts and are launching a military police inquiry,” the military police said.

At the time, President Jair Bolsonaro was aboard a separate plane, reportedly travelling ahead of the one in question. Military personnel were, however, travelling with the president to offer protection.

In a tweet, Bolsonaro confirmed that he had been briefed on the arrest and called the incident “unacceptable”.

He called for an “immediate investigation and severe punishment.”

A Brazillian television network identified the suspect as 38-year-old Sgt. Silva Rodrigues, CNN reported.

Brazilian vice-president, Hamilton Mourao later told reporters in Brasilia, Brazil that the officer suspected of carrying the drugs was expected to join the president’s plane after the stopover in Spain to be on hand for their arrival in Japan, according to Reuters.

He called the airman a “well-qualified (drug) mule.”

“Obviously, given the quantity of the drug he was carrying, he didn’t buy it on the corner and bring it, right?” Mourao said.

The suspect is reportedly being held without bail in Spain.

RIGHTS activist Dr. Joe Oke-Odumakin has appealed to the government to declare state of emergency on drug abuse and human trafficking to deal with the menace headlong.

She spoke at the World Day Against Drug and Human Trafficking seminar in Lagos.

The seminar, with the theme: “Drugs are addictive, escaping is hard, don’t start,” brought together security experts, human rights advocates, lawyers and psychologists to share their thoughts on solutions to drug abuse in Nigeria.

Dr. Oke-Odumakin, who delivered the keynote address, noted that there was not enough hands handling the menace.
She attributed substance abuse to peer pressure and unhealthy competition, noting that she always told people to quit trying to be someone else.
She said: “Drug abuse is an abnormal use of drug and too much of everything is bad. There is a nexus between drug abuse and human trafficking as the recruitment are sometimes through drug use. They use the drug either to cope, control or as a reward.

“This is why I always tell people that always want to be like someone that it is wrong because you may not be able to do what they do.

“To overcome drug abuse and human trafficking, one needs to deal with the triggers, which sometimes come in form of boredom, depression, loneliness, anger, rejection, anxiety and stress.

“We also need to talk to ourselves as the root is the heart. We can replace these bad habits with good habits like sports.

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has adjourned to July 1 for ruling on the application by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar urging it to set aside its proceedings of June 11.

The chairman of the tribunal, Justice Mohammed Garba adjourned ruling on Tuesday after listening to parties in the matter.

Atiku and the PDP are challenging the proceeding of June 11 wherein the All Progressives Congress (APC) asked the tribunal to strike out some paragraphs in their petition.

Atiku and PDP filed an objection to the application but the APC withdrew their application on June 11 and filed a fresh one same day, which the PDP could not immediately reply to.

Thus, the party and its candidate wants the tribunal to quash the entire proceedings of the day.

At the resumed hearing on Wednesday, counsel to Atiku and PDP, Chris Uche (SAN) requested for time to reply on ‘points of law’ to the counter affidavits from both President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC on the application seeking to set aside the proceedings of June 11.

He also asked the court to give directives on the number of applications, witnesses and schedule of time for arguments for the substantive hearing of the petition.

But lawyers to INEC, Yunus Ustaz Usman (SAN); Buhari, Yusuf Ali (SAN); and APC, Lateed Fagbemi (SAN) all opposed the PDP’s application to give directives as to the petition.

They argued that it would make the record of the tribunal untidy and unwieldy.

Ali argued that if Atiku and PDP want to save time they should withdraw their application to enable the panel conclude pre-hearing session.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday while receiving members of Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-political group said he is qualified to be a soldier and politician.

While addressing his guests at the presidential villa in Abuja said he had to return as a civilian president, after he ruled as a military head.

“That was why I decided to put on agbada and see. I attempted three times up to supreme court and winning the fourth time thanking God and technology, I am now qualified to be a soldier and a politician,” he said.

“Now what I do is when a person cannot justify what he has or fails to declare as the constitution specifies, some of them dear to Almighty God that their property doesn’t belong to them until we show them their bank accounts and their companies then we have some peace.

“So, we are recovering as much as we can under the system and this time around I said the properties will be sold and the money put in the treasury.

“The last time they were given back their properties but this time around whoever comes after me no matter how generous he is, he cannot take money from the treasury give it to individuals. It will be impossible.

“But anybody who cannot account for what he has and for refusing to declare, we will have to do something about it.”

Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, has condemned remark credited to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo that kidnapping in Nigeria was exaggerated.

He described the remark by the Vice President as a “lie from the pit of hell.”

Osinbajo, while addressing some Nigerians in New York had said the ongoing insecurity in the country, particularly kidnapping and banditry were being exaggerated.

“Kidnapping in Nigeria is exaggerated and not entirely new, social media tends to be hysterical about everything,” Osinbajo had said.

Reacting, Fani-Kayode rubbished Osinbajo’s claim.
In a tweet, the former Minister wrote: “Kidnapping in Nigeria is exaggerated and not entirely new…social media tends to be hysterical about everything – @ProfOsinbajo.

“This is a pernicious, perfidious, insidious, malevolent, repugnant and dirty LIE. It is the mendacity of the century: a LIE from the pit of hell.”

Also, the immediate past Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani condemned the remark credited to Osinbajo.

All over the world, there are millions of young children who want to follow in their parents’ footsteps when they grow up, and it seems in football there is no difference.

One of Roma’s most exciting young players, Justin Kluivert has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of his father Patrick, despite being just 20.

Having made his first-team debut in 2017, the Dutchman played 56 times for Ajax in all competitions, scoring 13 goals.

The 20-year-old’s form earned him a place in the Netherlands squad last year where he went on to earn his first cap against Portugal, and in turn, making the Kluiverts the first teenager father-son debutants in Netherlands’ history.

Kluivert made a move to Italian giants A.S. Roma during the 2018 summer transfer window for £15.16m.
A former Ajax and Barcelona striker, Patrick Kluivert is widely regarded as a football icon in the Netherlands and around the world, scoring 199 club career goals, while winning titles in Spain and the Netherlands, including the Champions League with Ajax in 1995.

Marcus Thuram

Club: Guingamp

Father: Lilian Thuram
Son of Lilian Thuram, Marcus is currently playing in Ligue 2 with Guingamp as a striker, having suffered relegation from the French top-flight last season.

Joining from Sochaux in 2017, the 21-year-old scored nine times in the league last term in 32 appearances, though his efforts were not enough to keep Guingamp in Ligue 1.

A French legend, Lilian Thuram retired as the most-capped player in the history of the France national team with 142 appearances between 1994 and 2008, winning the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championships.

The defender spent a large part of his club career playing in Italy with Parma – where his son Marcus was born – and then Juventus.

Isaac Drogba

Club: Guingamp

Father: Didier Drogba

Another famous footballer’s son playing for Guingamp, Isaac Drogba joined the French side in 2018 after leaving the Chelsea academy.

Joining the Ligue 1 side’s academy, Isaac is following in the footsteps of father Didier Drogba who played 50 times for Guingamp before moving on to Marseille, and then Chelsea.

Hailed as one of the best strikers of modern football, Drogba won the majority of his trophies over two spells with Chelsea, including four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and also the Champions League – which saw him score a late equaliser and the winning penalty against Bayern Munich in the final.

Enzo Fernandez

Club: Rayo Majadahonda (on loan from FC Lausanne-Sport)

Father: Zinedine Zidane

One of four sons of Zinedine Zidane, all of whom have followed their father into football, Enzo Fernandez is currently trying to make a name for himself away from Real Madrid – where his career started.

Signed by Swiss club FC Lausanne-Sport from Alaves in January 2018, Enzo spent the season on loan with CF Rayo Majadahonda.

The other three of Zidane’s sons – Luca, Theo and Elyaz – are currently playing for Real Madrid at various levels, with Luca bucking the trend and playing in goal.
However good the quartet turn out to be, they will have a hard time living up to the Zidane name, with Zinedine widely regarded as one of the best footballers ever to grace the game.

Giovanni Simeone

Club: Fiorentina

Father: Diego Simeone
A frequent starter for Fiorentina, striker Giovanni Simeone is showing the potential to be a top-flight European striker.

Scoring 14 goals in 40 appearances over the 2017-18 campaign, the 23-year-old wasn’t quite able to replicate that form last season but has previously been linked with a move to join Atletico Madrid, where his father Diego Simeone is the manager.
“My son has everything to play under me, but I will never sign him,” Diego said in September 2018.

“Unfortunately, I’m never going to sign him for my team, I never want to totally rule the possibility out on one hand but it would be very difficult to have a son in the locker room.

“It would be difficult for him, for me, for the relationship…and besides, right now he is doing great, maybe one day I’m not at Atletico, maybe he can come.”

Devante Cole

Club: Wigan Athletic

Father: Andy Cole
Once a member of Manchester City’s academy, Devante Cole spent last season with League One side Burton Albion, on loan from Wigan Athletic.

Like father Andy Cole, Devante is a centre-forward, scoring 10 league goals for previous Fleetwood, which subsequently earned him his move to Wigan.
