Seun360:

Even worse situation sef. Thanks for adding that.

Please analyse the situations where Amodu rescued. Let's judge them side by side. I won't mind venturing into comparison, even though I believe there's no basis for comparison. No two coaches are the same and no two situations are the same.

Siasia is not a firebrigade coach. He is a coach whose team get better as they progresses. We African usually expect miracle when we choose to do things improperly. With the kind of preparation that trailed his two appointments, it would be a miracle if qualified. So if he didn't qualify it is normal and expected result.

The Nigeria team during Amodu time still had the fear factor because of players like okocha, Kanu etc. Please tell me one single player in our team 2day who can spring up magic like these two players. Now Siasia has overseen two qualifiers where we have at least one desperate team in our group and set themselves on proper footing long before the qualifiers started. The first it was Guinea whom we lost to away in out first match. While we playing politics with appointing a Substantive Coach, Guinea was busy strategising for us. In the end we were under pressure at home and we draw that match. Now we have even much more desperate Egypt who has won the title 7times and have not been to the last three tourney. Seeing the draw we should have employed more discretion in the choice of our coach. What did we do? We went for a pundit - someone who has not proven himself yet.

If we keep doing stuff like these, we will keep finding ourselves in this kind of delimma. If we fail to qualify, pls blame every other person (NFF, NFF President, Media, Fans, Players) but the coach in the person of Siasia.

Can you hear ursef?

Siasia will set a new record with the super eagles, the first manager that failed to qualify Nigeria to the AFCON twice.

Your record will be correct if He was the that started and ended the two qualifiers you are talking about. The first Eguavon has lost one and won one. Second one Oliseh has drawn one and drawn one. At both times there was little or no time to organise his team. Please be objective and fair about your assessment of people. Result is not a truth test of people capacity.

What a game!

Tactical blunder, leading with a goal at 3 mins to go, the Egyptian coach knowing they are down brought in Attackers, the tactical response to that is to shore up your defence! Immediately the 3 mins extra was announced, a good coach leading a goal up would have a reserved substitution to run down the added time

Oh my Mourinho!!!

My guy @ 3mins do you still have any more substitution.

Sports / Predict Score Nigeria Vs Egypt by Harmony10: 12:57pm On Mar 25, 2016
My predictions for Nigeria vs Egypt is.

2 - 1.

I saw this in my dream this early morning. We were leading 2 - 0 before one of defenders helped the Egyptian to do own goal.

I pray my dream come to pass except the own goal part.

I Stand with Siasia. He is a very good coach. He is Disciplined, Cool-headed, Focused, Intuitive, Hard-working. He has good drive for success and Love to entertain the Fans.

He didn't reach is goal last time with the super eagles because he was trying to do too many things at the same time - Discipline, Good football, winning, compact team. Sign of been a perfectionist. I guessed He has learnt now that Nigeria wants victory first, other can them come later.

May good luck follow his hard work to bring us victory today.

We would have counted several groups before we get to unemployed graduates. However, they remain the most important group in this classification in term of societal progress. Given that they would yield the greatest returns on investment.

Let govt support these graduates in a more productive way not by giving them stipends.

Our biggest problem is in Nigeria is not corruption but the inability to tell ourselves the blunt truth. Corruption is still trying to catch up where our insincerity stands.

Politics / Re: FG To Link BVN With National ID Card By 2016 by Harmony10: 7:36pm On Oct 20, 2015
ojoadeola:
The federal government has disclosed its plan to link bank customers' bank verification numbers (BVN) with their national identity card data from next year.

Managing Director, Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS) Mr. Ade Shonubi, disclosed this in a paper presented at the ongoing workshop for financial journalists organised by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) in Ilorin, yesterday.

Shonubi, who was represented by the Chief Risk Officer, NIBSS, Mr. Osioke Ojior, spoke on "Managing Risks of e-Banking."
He said the move would further strengthen efficiency in Nigeria's payment system.
According to the NIBSS boss, the objective of the BVN is to use biometric information as a means of first identifying and verifying all individuals that have account(s) in any Nigerian bank and consequently, as a means of authenticating customer's identity at the point of transactions.

The BVN scheme was launched in 2014. Shonubi noted that the benefits of the BVN project include credit check, know-your-customer, fraud management and transaction authentication. However, he listed categories of risks in the payment system to include strategic, preventable and external.

Meanwhile, in his presentation, the Director, Banking and Payment System Department, CBN, Mr. Dipo Fatokun, put the total number of agents enrolled in the mobile money sub-sector as at September 30, 2015, at 98,158. Also, the total number of mobile money subscribers as at the end of September was put at 24,389,263, with total volume of transactions at 76,952,409 and transaction value at N815,464,917,062.94.

Fatokun, pointed out that in Nigeria, as well as other developing countries, majority of the unbanked population have rely on cash or informal financial services which are typically unsafe, inconvenient and expensive.

Fatokun, whose paper was presented by an Assistant Director at the CBN, Mr. Olusola Agboola, said the CBN, noted the rapid growth of mobile telephony in Nigeria (over 120 million subscribers, according to the Nigerian Communication Commission), and the fact that majority of the unbanked have access to mobile phones. This, he said led to the adoption of mobile money in the country.

"One of the cardinal objectives of introducing mobile money in Nigeria is to stimulate financial inclusion. Financial inclusion enables underserved people and communities to have access to financial services that would enhance their economic opportunities; boost productivity in various sectors and, contribute to economic growth," he added.

Siasia was a good coach but he was not just lucky. I believe he would have done well if he had stayed longer.
As for now, Keshi is still the best indigenous coach based on hid achievements. When Oliseh was appointed, I felt it was not the best choice for obvious reasons. People were quick to say he would do better than Keshi but the forget that Keshi did not become a SE coach overnight. He understudied someone.
Oliseh should take it easy. Afterall, when he was a player, he was a rebel.

Why do we believe so much in luck here in Nigeria!

Ok Keshi was lucky to get us the cup yet our darling super eagles were not really a force to reckon with. Our SE were not playing 'tasty' food. If we understand what quality is we will not wish for some achievements some times.

You can differentiate between the eagles that won Tunisia 94 and the one Keshi coached. The difference is clear. Many nations wanted to engage the former SE in int'l friendlies because they were true match test. Very competitive and entertaining team with lots of individual players.

Now we don't have much of individual player except Enyeama (even Mikel can't make the cut). In such a case you focus on the team effort. That was the difference btw Ivory coast and Egypt.

In my opinion like the other guy said Siasia seems like the man who knows how to work out a team from a group of players based on his way of working.

Keshi gave us a cup but not a good team who can reign for a while. I prefer the latter.

Thank you so much!!!

I have been waiting for a very sensible post like this as motivation to join this conservation on Enyeama saga wink

How I wish I can be a Judge on this case but I was not there first hand. I can only rely on obvious happenings in recent past.

I won't blame the Coach too much if I consider the happening surrounding the super eagles, particularly as it concern Enyeama.

The guy (Enyeama) seems to me like a subtle trouble maker. That has been case since the days of Samson Siasia. If he keeps having problem with every coach then he should check himself. He also has a big problem. He is putting his personal interest above that of the team - that's very selfish. If we considered what happened during Siasia term when Enyeama was not yet a Captain, you will understand that the guy has been selfish. Always stirring up issues when all hands should be on deck.

Our football has gone so low that everybody concerned need to be making lots of sacrifices not making trouble on and off the pitch. The irony of life is that teams (like Ghanian or Ivorian) that are good and playing well are having less frictions while Nigerian team that is very poor and needing focus are getting lots of distractions. Leaders like Enyeama should take responsibility for always distracting the team with his personal problems. As long as the team remains unstable, only few players like Enyeama shines.

Enyeama is holding the nation to ransom because the FA have not been alive to its responsibility. If the nation has enough options I bet some players will behave differently. Sincerely our senior nation team has not been dynamic like a flowing river. Just static like a stagnant water log. If we are in Brazil, Germany, Spain etc this team would have been disband long time ago and turn over and over again. The nation just needs many options and that is the job of the FA. Unfornately, the FA don't stand it's ground when it matter most.

I can forgive fans who allows their emotions to get the better of them. That is why they are called fans. Even sport analyst and writers who display lack of understanding can be forgiven because they do not have direct influence on the the outcome of the team.

The main players are FA afterwhich we can then consider the team itself and the coaching crew.

Birikiti:
Hello guys,

My opinion on the Oliseh/Enyeama saga.

Nigerians have to learn and understand the fact that balance of power in a football team is quite delicate.

The Coach is the boss and is the first in line to get fired if results don't go well for the team. Therefore, every Coach wants to be in full control of the team on and off the field so as to be fully responsible for the results churned out by the team. No regrets or "Had I known..." after getting sacked.

So can you put yourself in the Coach's shoes and tell us what you'd do given the below timeline

1. Enyeama makes unguarded remarks, that bothers on National security, about a match venue and puts the NFF under pressure from govt.

2. Enyeama is issued a query by the NFF; he proceeds to tear same in the presence of of the team's secretary.

3. Enyeama is invited for a disciplinary hearing; he doesn't show up saying he didn't get the invite

4. NFF decides to sanction Enyeama but resolves to settle matters in house.

5. NFF appoints Oliseh as Super Eagles coach.

6. Oliseh comes out loudly in support of Enyeama. Asks NFF to treat players with respect.

7. Oliseh goes to Europe visiting players so as to explain his philosophy. He drives to Lille to see Enyeama.

8. Call ups for first set of matches under Oliseh (a crucial qualifier and a team building friendly); Enyeama tops the list of players.

9. Time to report to camp; Enyeama (recently bereaved) withdraws at the last minute but everyone is kept in the dark about his bereavement

10. Oliseh tries to rally his troops and barely comes out of Tanzania with a draw.

11. Stand in Captain, Ahmed Musa, shows exemplary leadership skills and puts everything into the 2 matches.

12. Oliseh's makes up his mind to appoint a Captain who's fully with him on this journey.

13. 2nd round of matches under Oliseh; 2 team building friendlies in Belgium

14. Enyeama arrives one day late (due to his performing final rites for his departed mother)

!5. Oliseh announces his decision on team captaincy; Enyeama tries to voice objection; Oliseh overrules; shouting match ensues!

16. Enyeama announces retirement.

If you where the coach or Enyeama or even the NFF president what would you do?

Religion / Re: Why Criticism Of Religion Is Important In Contemporary Africa by Harmony10: 1:54pm On Jul 28, 2015
First and Foremost I really commend you for this piece. I agree with the general idea of this write up. The fact that dogmatism (or religiousity) is destroying us - Humans (interesting there is no crisis in d animal or plant kingdoms except the ones caused by humans grin)

However, I would like to highlights few specifics which I feel is a common mistakes with those who try to criticize one Faith or the other (Note: Not religion this time. I am a christian but I don't believe in Christian Religion but christian Faith).

-People who criticize faith usually exonerate themselves. But if we think deeply we can conclude that we all belong to one faith or the other. Whether it Liberalism, Moralism, Atheism, Christianity, Islam, Judiasm etc, we all are guided by a set of beliefs which are responsible for our mind set, thought processes and actions - d reason people from d same faith most often agrees on the same ideals and behave same way. This is not necessarily dogmatism. They are only guided by the same principles. It is my opinion that some faith promotes religion, while some were created explicitly to create alternative faith or to attack a particular faith (note this is not directed at your write up).

Another error I find out is about the criticism of arbitrary belief. But the truth is that all Faith feeds on the belief of the people in it and most belief can not be proved with physical evidence. It something you agree to from within you. Most esp. because most belief is handed down to us and we just believe based on our conscience awareness. For stance, I believe that God is a Person and He is Real. I don't have to see him before I believe that He is real. He doesn't need a physical body before I reckon that He has a Personality. We do not see the air we breathe or other micro organisms yet they are all real. You belief that God is imaginary. Something like a Dragon and pigment of somebody's imagination. But I need to know (with physical evidence) how you come to that conclusion. How did you conclude that God is imaginary?

In all I agree with your stand that religion is bad. It thrive on dogmatism, selfishness, deception, hypocrisy, self-righteousness and mind enslavement.

These are not what christianity as a Faith built on Christ stands for. No doubt a lot of people (in d fashion of the pharisees in the Bible days) practice christian religion and not Faith of Christ. Christ fought against religiousity and the Pharisees in His days. Simply because the story is the same for all religious minded people - condemn people, live double standard, focus on rules other than the welfare of people, judgmental, hypocritical, turns things of God to means of gratifying selfish inclinations. Christ had big issues with all of these. His lifestyle and stories were about Love, being filled with abundant Life (as against deadness in Religion), being freed from spiritual enslavement (including a destruction of monopoly of God - thereby promoting freedom of the human mind).

To further buttress the fact that Christ like Faith already encourages us to embark on research to liberate our mind and also to prove everyone who comes to us in the name of God here are some scriptural reference:

- I John 4:1 Says do not believe all spirits but test...
- Matthew 7: 15 - 16: Jesus says Beware of False Prophets who come to you in sheep clothing but inwardly are raven wolves...by their fruits (chief of which is Love) you will know them. This is particularly important because people and things are not the way they seems or profess to be. We need to do our own check. Jesus gave the us a way to prove things. The first order condition (necessary condition) and the second other condition (the sufficient condition). For him it is not sufficient to have knowledge, eloquence, influence or other good things - the question who are you?

Acts 17:11 describes some christian in Berea as being more noble than their counterparts because they did personal research. The question of their personal faith was not left entirely on the hands of their supposed leaders.

Romans 12:2 Say don't conform to the world but be transformed by renewing your minds. This goes to show that in everyone of us is a Witness mechanism.

Christianity truly encourages

- Science (Cause and Effect Relationship e.g Sin (cause) lead to spiritual death (effect). What ever a man sow he will reap. It is pure madness to sow mango and want to reap oranges. Every behaviour has a consequence. What is more scientific than that.

- Christianity encourages Life and not Religion or Dogmatism. It encourages freedom from the Rules and Regulations (Religious enslavement) but not necessary individualism. I don't really think there is anything like that. We all fall into one circle/community or the other. No man can ever be truly individual. We take things from the circle we belong and also hand it down to others.

- Christianity focuses on spirituality. The continuous rebirth of the the human mind and the transformation of the person of individual by focusing on God within you. John 4:20-25; 2 Corinthians 3:3 and Romans 2:15

Criticizing religion is urgently needed in today’s world particularly in Africa because it is in this region that the negative effects of religious dogmatism and absolutism are so glaring. In fact it has become a moral and intellectual duty for all free and open minds to highlight and expose through writing, cartoons, drama, music and comedy shows the absurdities, misconceptions, falsehoods and illusions of religion. First of all, religion is a human phenomenon and nothing human is – and should be beyond criticism. Criticizing religion is important because it is a human right that has long been ignored and has long been denied. It is a power and entitlement the exercise of which is important for human happiness and human flourishing.

Unfortunately, one of the greatest tragedies in human history is that human beings created ideas – religious ideas – and then made it a crime, a forbidden act, for others to question them. Human beings have placed a heavy price on critical examination of religious and superstitious beliefs particularly Islam thereby perpetuating these ideas with all their limitations and shortcomings.

The situation in Africa is quiet disturbing because the continent has a triple religious heritage – traditional, Christian and Islamic and these layers of dogma and absolutism make critical examination of faith claims more challenging, and yes, more urgent and compelling.

The three faiths make conflicting and contradictory claims about this life and what happens after death, about what is right and wrong, what is true and what is false, what is allowed or forbidden, what is good or bad, what is fact or fiction, what is myth or reality. They peddle counter intuitive notions like virgin birth, the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, the divine revelation of the Koran, the ascent into heaven of Muhammad on a flaming horse, the existence of paradise and Hell fire, the existence of ancestors, spirits and gods that intervene in nature etc. Many Africans grow up confused, not knowing which religion is true and which is false, if any at all, which faith or philosophy is a suitable moral guide in this 21st century. Africans grow up with their minds enchanted, beclouded and not understanding clearly what to believe and what not to believe, not comprehending how to distinguish facts from fantasy.

Critical evaluation of religious teaching is important for the intellectual emancipation and enlightenment of Africans. Exposing the illogics and gaps in religious thinking – the contradictions in its conception of life and nature, needling the balloon of otherworldly faiths will free the minds and morals of Africans from the grip of superstition and fundamentalism. Due to lack of critical thinking, many Africans are embracing religious extremism and are being indoctrinated into thinking that killing others in the name of their god, prophet and religion is a demonstration of faith and a mark of religious virtue.

They do not know that God is an imaginary being and that the so called prophets are historical entities who are dead and gone or mythical figures who never existed in time and space.

Religious promises of paradise, divine judgment and reward in an afterlife are driving Africans to commit atrocities because many people across Africa think that religious promises are true. African Christians and muslims are really working and hoping to inherit paradise as promised in the Bible and the Koran. Sadly, they are mistaken and we need criticism of religion to foreground the erroneous propositions of faith systems and awaken Africans from their religious slumber. Criticism of religion will help disabuse the minds of Africans of religious illusions and delusions and dissuade them from religious credulousness and extremism. Religion is a potent force in human culture and society, and without criticism it will become a treacherous weapon, a lethal, vicious and potentially dangerous agent. We have witnessed how the destructive force of religious extremism is raging and ravaging different parts of Africa and the world today. We need criticism of religion to counter the narratives of religious extremism and exploitation. So to all Africans I say “Criticize every religion – all religions. Spare no faith, god, prophet or holy book no matter how exalted or revered. Expose their erroneous assumptions, absurd claims and misconceptions. Demand evidence for religious claims even at the risk of causing offence. African enlightenment will not be achieved without offending the sensibilities of those who have vested interest in the religious status quo, in African ‘endarkenment’. Question all religious dogmas because dogmatization is a cover, a way of preserving and perpetuating error and falsehood. Seek the truth. Ignite the flame of rational inquiry and rid this continent of dark and destructive forces of superstition and unreason.
