Akingbola would fight this fight till the last drop of his blood. A very rare gentleman he is. You knew how to run an organization and reward your staff accordingly. I remember all the CSR and the various donations to colleges and Universities.

You started IMBL from zero and grew it to become Intercontinental Bank, the then largest Bank in Nigeria by assets. IBPLC was the beautiful bride in banking that every young man wanted to court.

As a young graduate, you afforded me a platform to begin my career in Banking in 2008, your training school was second to none as I made my first N248,000 in 10 weeks as allowance coupled with top-notch consulting firms that delivered superb lectures to us.

After resumption, the working environment was very ideal. What about the allowance? Jetta, upfront, variable, anniversary, lunch, hazard, leave and passages. You were light years ahead of your peers.

You practically told us that whoever worked with you and has not achieved anything remarkable in 3 years ought to be fired. You shared profit to drivers, cleaners and artisans and told us that they contributed to the making of this profit. Posterity would never forget you.
I know one day, you would be vindicated.

you mean the above is the proof that he is not guilty of what he is being accused of?

one man can afford to build a $9b refinery whether thru loan or personal funds but NIGERIA as a country cannot build one?

The FG shamelessly went to inspect the facility the other day, I could count 3minsters from the pictures excluding the VP.

if it's to sit down & share $9b, they will know how to go about it

sir you might be right, no argument with that.
But my position is simple. Some floodings cannot be solved with gutters and man made drainage channels, no matter how large or how many!
There is a probability that even if these drainage you are talking about is completed, it will not work!
it will not stop the flooding!

you said some cannot be solved meaning some others can be!!

a little rain in benin & some areas are already flooded, if the drainages were in place, we will not be having most of the water problems

Of all the mentions, you are the only one with functional brains and I respect you for that.

My major anger here is the headline which is so biased. The young perm sec. co-signed a cheque for a contract which was part of his responsibility but the APC led FG now tags it "Dasuki asked him to give money to GEJ's cousin". Why not probe the contract for which the money was meant first before coming up with such headline.

osho did nothing in the state in contrast to the funds that came in, from loans to fed allocation, to IGR

the so called roads he did was done at what cost? they were super inflated & awarded to politicians

for those that know airport rd, it was awarded twice cos d baba it was given, chopped & cleaned mouth

let the governor make public how much he spent on each road project, if his hands are clean

another reason most folks think he tried is because they are comparing him with igbinedion who was a collosal failure

when Stella obasanjo hospital was commissioned, it was the best in terms of structure & equipment

today it has been over run by weeds & equipment comatose

the governor has upgraded an aspect of the central hospital, at what cost

what plans has he made to staff it? to equip it?

To all the zombies who didn't take out time to read the story, I say shame.

In sane countries, matters relating to govt funds for intelligence is never discussed in public. The witness was perm. secm in ministry of special duties and he simply did his job to counter-sign a cheque for payment.

Such funds are used for some intelligence deals made by FG which are sometimes dirty in the eyes of the public.

I won't say much about this but NAIJA is a joke.

what you are saying only applicable in sane countries, naija is not

most of these funds ended up as campaign funds, if the purpose was for intelligence/security, the govt would not have made it public

they all felt fortunato will win the elections, hence no need to cover their tracks

imagine, Dokpesi saying he received funds from NSA for PDP campaigns. if he had said he received such funds for "media campaign against Boko haram" that would have been a different ball game.

In the same sane countries, security funds is subject to checks & balances by the Senate excerpt "blackbook or off the book funds"

these funds weren't tagged that, the funds were released for specific purpose to combat boko haram.

now, the boko haram funds are being found in individual accounts/company accounts & you want the govt not to prosecute

Very good.
However, whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty.
I dare say that the government and its agents could be sued for libel and character defamation if they publish a list of corrupt individuals who have not yet been found guilty by a competent court.
As for those that will comment on money returned, that is a good thing. But our constitution has penalties and jail terms for those who are found guilty. Governance and administration of justice have been separated in the constitution so that the government can not apply justice in which ever way it feels comfortable with. That is abuse!
And PMB has sworn to uphold that constitution. So if he publishes a list of non-convicted corrupt persons, hope it starts with his name for fraudulently breaking an oath he swore to uphold.

Dear PMB, I don't need a list. I need the corrupt ones sent to jail and proceeds of corruption confiscated. That is the only way to show that this fight is transparent and ensure that up and coming leaders take a cue; and traditional social morals are upheld. We need a strong system and not a strong man. Publish your list only when they have been found guilty, convicted and are rotting in jail.

the list is for monies recovered & from whom it was recovered!!

How does that amount to abuse?

that should let you know that a form of plea bargaining was done

Who is the judge and jury. Only a competent court of law has the right to declare anyone corrupt. An accused is presumed innocent until proven otherwise. As much as I support the fight against corruption, this is definitely not the way to go about it we are gradually sliding into an abyss of lawlessness and dictatorship. This disrespect for due process and the rule of law is disheartening.

I don't get you, public funds was found in their possesion, some of it was returned as a form of plea bargaining

now govt wants to publish the names of those who returned funds & you say it's an abuse of power

which competent court declared abacha corrupt or ruled that abacha stole money? But his loots have been returned & still returned

which one sounds better & believable?

1. Abacha's $320million stolen funds about to be repatriated or has been recovered

2.$320million looted by a former head of state about to be recovered or has been recovered

Buhari is a learner.

The statutory distribution of revenue from the federal account had been controversial as well as contentious. It is instructive to note that, the exclusive federal jurisdiction over natural resources applies only to oil and gas, and not to palm oil, cocoa, hides, skin and solid mineral. Understandably, this appears to be the main reason for the agitation of the people of the Niger Delta.

Why is it oil and gas revenue alone is being shared across the country out of all the solid minerals?

Nigeria constitution needs to be rewritten, because it favours only the well to do (rich) people in the society.

Nigerian state inherited obnoxious laws that made Niger Delta a victim of internal colonialism.

I hope soon Niger Delta will be given the right of resource control.

is it buhari that will rewrite the law?

don't they know the address of national assembly?
Politics / Re: No Confab Report, No Nigeria, Falae Insists by harveyspec: 1:29pm On May 31, 2016
freeze001:

I had my reasons for asking you if you had any idea of the contents of that report. Your response here shows you don't. You see, Nigeria's first problem is her constitution. Chapter II tells of all the duties owed the citizens by the government yet prevents citizens from being able to question the failure of the government to meet these fundamental duties because the court is expressly robbed of that power.

The CONFAB effectively recommends a decentralised government with the regions responsible for their funding and development with agreed shares to the centre. The reason states are in dire straits and unable to pay salaries is that their major source of income, oil, hit the rocks due to price crashes along with kleptomaniac leaders/thieves in power from time immemorial. Now with self development which the CONFAB recommends, there will almost immediate diversification of the economy which the FG has never been successful in. This must happen because not all regions have oil...simple! Therefore they must discover and develop what they do have. Regions having to cater for themseves in smaller units will decide how many administrative units or lgas they need, no more arbitrary creation by the NASS.

The National Assembly is also recommended by the CONFAB to be on part time basis with allowances paid per sitting. This will definitely reduce the amount they control now. With six regions, there will be no need for the over bloated number of NASS members we have now and they will be paid by their regional govts to represent them at the centre.

Developmental needs will be met faster because a lot of things on the Executive list will be shed and the Central govt will mainly control external security covering the Army, Navy and Air Force, foreign/external relations, minting and printing of currency, inter state roads, railways etc. Policing will be purely regional for internal security. A region can easily partner with investors and build refineries, seaports, airports, other critical infrastructure, control and operate them and thus generate revenue for itself.

I cannot go on and on here cos there's so many details but hopefully this gives u an idea. So yes, our current system of govt encourages too much corruption and being as far removed/isolated from the people as they are, it is difficult to demand accountability. And so to answer your questions, it is implementation of CONFAB that will change the mind of those blowing up our pipelines; demand good governance and accountability for all Nigerians as a matter of law and necessity; make Bayelsa, Ekiti, Osun, Yobe, Imo and all other states self sufficient enough to pay salaries and develop speedily and stop us from paying our legislators the highest salary in the world.

The recommendations of the CONFAB do not favour any political party or region so it has nothing to do with PDP.

why is everyone chanting buhari's name, can the report be implemented by executive order?

it has to go through NASS before they can beome law, so if buhari isn't saying anything about it, we should turn to NASS to look into it
