Though destinies aren't the same but I know a friend who met and genuinely marry his white wife within 4 months.

This guy is disperate & racing against time (5months). I'm sure your friend wasn't

it's one thing to be hustling(with or without papers) & you meet the love of your life & another not to have money & accomodation, while searching for love

most folks in this scenario settle for arranged marriage or an old lady

finally, your friend might not have told you the whole story. I have a friend who did the same, I'm the only one he told the true reason, his was arranged marriages, the lady was to be paid an amount when he finally got his papers. Others including his relative didn't even know he was planning to get married, though it didn't work out

He's not jumping anything. He has 2 years business visa and was given 11months to stay at a time. The problem with him is that after the first art conference, he still has a 2nd conference coming up.

The 2nd conference does not have accommodation for him. He has depleted all his funds, hence, needing help

when you fail to plan, you have planned to fail

firstly, you would have sought for help here before he left the shores of this country as plan B. folks would have found it easier to help

secondly, you would've laid all the cards on the table in your 1st post as a proof that you really need help & that there were no sinister motive, all this gradual revelation isn't helping matters

most folks understand the need for one to get abroad by all means & do everything possible to get their papers, you ought to have come clean & not all this okada jam plane stories!

he should go to a nigerian church as advised & brief the house on that.

PS: Your single & handsome made the whole thing trivial. he cannot find love within 5months excerpt arranged paid marriage, which is still difficult
Politics / Where Was Ministry Of Information When The Yuan-Naira News Was Being Propagated by harveyspec: 7:54am On Apr 22, 2016
I'm just wondering, there has been lots of news about the activities of this present government from reputable media houses, only for a denial to be made by the government later

what baffles me is that, this "false" news is left to linger on for a long time before it's refuted!!

what then is the ministry of information doing?

ur wise!

Nigeria is far morethan what we see or feel.
If jona made a tenth of the blunders this present govt is making now, nigeria would have burnt beyond recognition, evn before his first 2 years tenure elapsed.

But look at wots happening in nigeria of today,...very dire situations evryday ...fulani herdsmen carrying on wit impunity,...lack of power and fuel,..skyrocketing prices,..scarcity of goods,..etc,...and yet evrybody is carrying on as tho nuffn spoil. The noisy noisemakers of yesteryears have all turned mute and hoping fervently for turn arounds. These are same ppl dat Criticised bitterly in The past
All because one was a minority and d oda is from a majority tribe!

Naija!

Every oil producing nations are facing tough times, the difference btw them & us is their reserves & buffers they have put in place

Jonathan enjoyed high crude oil sales & did absolutely nothing with it, no refinery, no LNG plant, few completed power plant that weren't even started in his tenure

Now buhari is on the scene with a failed inherited structure & you want Him to perform magic!!! Even if buhari kick started a refinery project or LNG project or power plant project, it will take a minimum of 3yrd before you talk of commissioning

To whom much is given, much is expected. Nigeria enjoyed the highest crude revenue in Jonathan's time. the dollar issue & fuel has nothing to do with buhari, it has everything to do with the system that even preceded Jonathan's administration but he did nothing to correct or put the mechanism in place for correction to take place

If he had done some of these things, it would have been a lot easier on us now

GEJ like his predecessors was the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria and not a President to tackle problems in Niger Delta only. The NDDC was set up in order to "fix" the Niger Delta.
That said, GEJ was positive that he'd gain a second term which would have been a means of focusing on major infrastructure from the middle belt down to the South (but that was not to be).
He did his best but since the "panel of judges" are always drawn from the South with a few from the middle belt, where infrastructural abandon rules, we will always say that GEJ was a terrible President. However, we all know that we voted him in so it's a collective error.

You aren't getting my point, the solution to our fuel & electricity problems lies in the Niger delta

Basic economics teaches that you locate your plant close to your raw materials

If you build a power plant or refinery in the north, you will need longer pipelines when compared to what you will need if situated close to the well heads saving cost in the process & faster delivery time

what's stops us from having numerous gas plants, LNG plants & refineries? If these things are built, will Nigeria's revenue generation not increase?

Bonny LNG sells gas, the revenue goes to Nigeria & not to Niger delta directly, hope u get my point

Once more, development of the Niger delta region will have a massive effect on Nigeria's development

He built universities in Niger/Delta

He employed some of the repentant militants and gave them jobs e.g. to protect pipelines and oil establishments in the region

You may not be aware of this, but some SS youths were beneficiaries of scholarships funded by the government under GEJ

He contributed to the development of free skills and acquisition programmes through NDDC in the region

His tenure ensured peace within the region

His impact went far beyond SS into SE, SW and North, through programmes like Youwin, Grants for women in business, creating an enabling environment for foreign investments etc.

Cursed be anyone who accuses GEJ of failing us. He did better than many of his predecessors

Firstly this isn't a blame game, these issues were already there even before obasanjo's administration!!

My grouse with Jonathan is that he is from this region, why didn't he develop this region knowing fully well that it will have a direct impact on Nigeria development!!

I guess what you put up here is based on hearsay & what you read in the papers, I earlier stated that I have experienced life in this region!! My account is not based on hearsay or what I read in the paper, it's an actual real life experience

Agreed militants were sent for training home & abroad, some didn't take these trainings seriously, the news is filled with militants causing unrest in their various places of schooling BUT do you know a lot of them are currently jobless!!

What use is a training & after that no avenue to put that training to use. I see some of them everyday, so this isn't hearsay

One of the communities I recently visited is an oil producing one for the past 30yrs, there is no single government presence, the govt school is dilapidated, the road was built by shell(currently in a bad shape), no hospital, no bridges(the bridges were built by community, wooden bridges) electricity is produced by Shell

Guess what this community is under a LGA, that was once headed by orubebe, who later became minister of Niger delta!! Yet when he became minister he couldn't remember the LGA he once governed. Same story with the various oil producing communities with slight exceptions

You Said his tenure ensured peace but the question is at what cost? peace in the Niger delta & not the boko haram states, but lets focus on ND

Peace was existent & fuel too because he made compromises & did "eyes right" at the detriment of us & future generations.

Instead of caging the beast, he settled them & allowed them have their way, the monster is fully grown now, hence our present fuel predicament & more is to come because this present govt isn't ready to make such compromise.

Anybody who has spent time in the ND & by that I mean the oil producing communities & not Niger delta cities will know that Jonathan did absolutely nothing.

This isn't a blame game, I just want answers to my questions pleade
Politics / QUESTIONS For Ex President Ebele Jonathan by harveyspec: 7:51pm On Apr 14, 2016
I keep asking myself where things went wrong. Having experienced life in the Niger delta region, I'm forced to ask

1.What did the Ex president do for the Niger Delta region, knowing fully well that a massive development in this region will have a profound effect on Nigeria as a whole?

2.We have several communities that are off the national grid, enjoying light 24/7 courtesy of Gas turbines owned by various multinational firms eg Bonny, ogulaha kingdom in delta state, amorc in Rivers state(not sure of this spelling)
If shell, Agip, NLNG could power communities why couldn't you power the entire Niger delta & Nigeria? We have abundant Gas wells that are untapped!!

3. Why couldn't you do everything possible to kick start the Brass LNG project & Olokola LNG?

Bonny LNG construction ran for years providing employments close to hundreds of thousands, these two projects if they had started would have provided employment & now revenue from the sale of gas

4. What happened to the various proposed green refineries for Lagos, kogi & bayelsa?

If these were started long ago, employment would have been provided & by now we ought to have be self sufficient, no more fuel importation

5.Its a well known fact that local boys refine crude in the bush to get diesel, the news is filled with reports on the JTF closing these illegal refineries.

Why didn't you give licenses for these boys to operate, set a standard & have them monitored to see that those standards are met? Ben Bruce advocated to this too

With formal approval, wealthy individuals would have invested & employment would have been created too

5. why didn't you ensure that NDDC fulfilled its mandate? Rather you allowed NDDC become another embezzlement avenue!

6. Why did you create ministry of Niger Delta when NDDC was already there?

Inspite of these two bodies, the local communities are still plagued with lack of basic amenities. It was widely reported in the news that the JTF donated a borehole to your community, isn't it a shame that a sitting president's community still lack such basic infrastructure?

There are many more questions, I will stop here for now.

Thank u very much.

Most of the folks here telling you to go for shell don't know much about shell system!!

I can't really give you any advise cos the info is too limited & you ought not to put the full info here either

what's the nature of the job? is it a construction project or design Job or what?

That a project will last 4yrs doesn't mean you will be needed for the 4yrs.

Take my project for example, each discipline had 2 reps doing back to back, a time came when they dropped 1 rep each

Before that, they slashed some salaries as much as half & some were & still being owed for months

Hope you know that there are levels of being a contract staff in shell, so which one is yours?

Shell doesn't know you, you are a staff of a labour supplier, they call it outsourcing

Labour suppliers also differs in how they treat their staff, at a point, one of the labour supplier for my project had to tell all their staff to stay back cos shell had not paid him for 1yr. The guy got tired of paying salaries from his pocket!!

so more info will be needed, by the way most oil projects are going to suffer this year, the priority will be on gas projects

my advise take the other job if you're interested in job security but if you have a project at hand eg masters program abroad, take the shell job but remember, there are no guarantee

some time this month, I got a mail from a supposed firm in Oman demanding that I send my whatsapp number to them that I showed interest to work in their firm. I sent the number. They called me on whatsapp with a foreign number and I was 'interviewed'. I was also asked to scan to them the first page of my international passport, I did. Attached is the rest of the discussion.

I dont know if its real or the work of scammers. Also attached is the Offer letter they sent me

Firstly any serious company won't be looking for a way to call you cheap via Whatsapp!!

They will call you directly

I will advise you post this on the dubai thread on the travel section, it's quite resourceful. There are lots of folks there who live in d Middle East.

And yes, my father had a 3 bedroom flat and a car when he married my mom, she gave birth to me 10 months later in a nice comfortable home. Haven both of them worked and toiled, they now own several homes and travel to the Caribbean every month with their grandchildren. That is being made. That is success, being able to do the things you want with the people you love. Being able to provide a safe and comfortable place for your family to live in is called being responsible. Learner...

Please did your grand father either maternal or paternal have a 3bedroom apartment & car before getting married ?

I ask because if you dad could have those things before marriage, most likely he came from a comfortable background, someone had to pay the price along the line!!

A level 8 graduate with the civil service whose salary is 80k per month, shouldn't get married if he is able to live within his means, just because he doesn't own his own apartment.

The Op even stressed that the apartment must be a rented one, my God!!

Car is a luxury here in this part of the world not in developed countries. Why should I buy a car when I can move around comfortably in a train?

There are folks who will never own a house or stay in a 3bedroom flats, it's not a curse but reality of life, everyone has its level

owning a house or car should NEVER be a yardstick in marriage decision (it's a nice to have but it is never a must have quality)

The keyword is living within ones means & being able to take care of someone else.

Buhari is not serious about fighting corruption in his own government. How come he had written petitions to the presidency before without response.

That the man wrote to presidency doesn't mean that buhari is the receptionist or clerk or administrative officer that attends to incoming mail !!!

It's even possible that those petition never got to the right table because someone sat on it!!

Quakertellicus1:
Well....change is a gradual process.

I am about to embark on some propaganda for the government....so I apologise to all the gods and deities.. smiley

1.LIGHT:

When PMB came on board...power supply was at 5000mw max. Meanwhile Nigeria'sdaily need is approx 13000mw. (IMO-it is 20000MW). Even if Buhari started building power stations on June 1 2015....it would take till June 2018 for them to come on stream. Then there is the fact that the transmission system is obsolete. Infact, many of the DISCOS were shocked that something that dilapidated was still working. It needs replacement.

So..anyone expecting change in power supply is just being impatient. IMO---it is going to take ten to twenty years before we can get power fixed. And it needs money. And since GEJ got the whole thing privatized....except for generation....the money is going to come from your pockets.

2.FUEL.

PMB has refused to remove fuel subsidy. As a result....it has become difficult for fuel marketers to import the stuff and still make a profit...which is why many of them were engaging in scams....it was the only way to make cash. Add the fact that we need at least 4 more refineries.....and you see why there will be queues.

The queues can end if we remove subsidy completely. That would enable the marketers import fuel...and still have a profit...to import more fuel, pay salaries of staff, and build the house in the village.(Man and woman suppose chop fruit of labour)

But if you want cheap fuel....you need refineries. And even if Buhari started building 4 refineries on the 1 ST june 2015....it would take 4 years to build them.

3.NAIRA.

Yes....N1=$1. (Which PMB never promised).

Even then.....oil prices have fallen. Now they are up to $40 per barrel....but Nigeria needs oil at $112 per barrel to get naira to N140=$1. Of course...we need to diversify. But that takes years...not ten months.

Keep calm...change is a gradual process.

The Government of Edo State have opened a new University in the home town of the State Governor. This is in addition to the numerous tertiary institutions in the state, which include Federal Government University (Uniben) and other privately owned Universities. This is not to mention the State owned University (Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma). That is badly under funded.

My question is:
1. Is this a way of generating fund without considering the quantity of education?

2. Why will a State Government abandon an already existing state owned institution (Ambrose Alli University) which is even under funded, to open another university in the home town of the governor?

3. Is this a love for education or politically moltivated ?

it's purely business, I learnt it a 70% Private Patnership & 30% government

don't be surprised the company that owns the 70% will be the same politicians.

Why do we need another university? When all others are underfunded

1.ambrose alli university
2. College of ekiadolor
3. Edo state polytechnic, usen
4. School or college of agriculture(not so sure of the name)

5.university of Benin
6.benson idahosa university

Why do we need another university?? Everyone mustn't go to the university!! if this was a standard technical school, it would have been better

The second electrician is totally unprofessional in promising to solve what he knows nothing about. If you have a car that is not starting, would a mechanical engineer tell you he can clean it up without assessing the situation? We all knew that Nigeria is not the best, but what was handed over to Buhari. He has practically destroyed. You are also following the footstep of the naive or clueless one.

By the way, are you aware power has plummeted to below 1580 level for the first time in the last 36 years? That is another record breaking achievement by the APC and Buhari Government of Chain.

Did buhari have an inside knowledge of the state of Nigeria before picking up the mantle of leadership?

Did buhari know that abacha's loot that was earmarked for arms purchase was suddenly used for elections?

The list goes on

It's when you get into power that you see the true state of things!!

As for power, is it buhari that bombed the gas pipelines? Has buhari cancelled the amnesty program? Has buhari violated the amnesty agreement? So what are those attacks for?

Corrupt elements are fighting back & trying to sabotage this government & you are blaming buhari

Buhari hasn't destroyed anything, rather he is building & saying no to compromise

Jonathan didn't build, he allowed every Tom & Harry to do what they wanted, hence today's result

Some people are not used to this dryness & dependency on salary only, no chop chop. Hence the discomfort

Op is as clueless as the electrician who would boast to the landlord that he has the miracle of solving his house problem. Only for the landlord to award the contract to him and all he does is complain and looking for who to blame.

OP, the landlord knew about the problem of the house. The new electrician also knew about the problem? Question for you is why sack the first if the last would be complaining without solutions? The new one boasted to turn the house to "Utopian State", rather has recreated a similitude of Hell Fire.

My solution to the house owner is to quickly sack the new electrician as he is worse than the first. He lied about his competence and keeps pretending he has the answer whereas he is CLUELESS! If you ever built you would encounter such individuals. If you fail to sack them, you end up with uncompleted structure.

Please, ask Buhari to face governance and stop complaining and running from pillar to post. This is not the Nigeria that was handed over to him. Sai Baba has turned to Shame Baba!!

Point of correction, the landlord knew there was a problem(no light) but didn't know what the actual problem was

The new electrician didn't know thing were that messed up, he probably thought that it was a blown fuse or burnt wires only to get up there to see a conundrum of problems.

Things would have been worse off under Jonathan, if he had won or even during his term, you didn't experience any of this because the price of oil was up, so there was money in circulation to cushion all ill effect.
