I am sure you all jambites are eager to get into school. Because you've been told that if you study hard you will graduate, get a nice job and live happily ever after. They lied to you. There is no such thing anymore. University education does not give you automatic success anymore, especially in this retrogressive progressive government. Learn a skill with you tuition fees: shoemaking, tailoring, catering etc. That's what pays these days. If I knew then in university what I know now, I would be better off now.

Well, you are not far from the truth. But in my opinion, I will suggest getting the graduate education while using every available opportunity to learn one or two skills. Its a win-win take because you never can decipher the course of life by another persons experience alone.

All this Children on Nairaland should please allow us hear word. GEJ this, PDP that.... They are stories now. must we dwell in the past forever? All I am saying is that the sitting government should come in and do something in the required area. Simple! No finger pointing from today till 'amen' will solve our issues for us. Nigerians and hypocrisies... Once it involves a non SE/SS, everything is different. I can read some people killing themselves over names given to Obasanjo. If you think about how much you really need to know about a person before you hire him or her — and on the other side, how much you need to know about a manager before you sign onto his or her team — a one-hour interview is not nearly enough discussion time.
With so much ground to cover and such limited time in which to cover it, why would anyone want to waste a second in a job interview?
We all know the traditional question-and-answer interview script. It’s pointless. It’s not a good way to learn about a person. Here are five idiotic interview questions that don’t help you make better hires, can only annoy job applicants and deserve to die in the first quarter of 2016.

What’s Your Greatest Weakness?
What makes you think that people have weaknesses in the first place? If people do have weaknesses, that’s one of the most personal questions you could ask. You wouldn’t ask a candidate about his or her sex life or spiritual views, would you?
This is a job interview, not a therapy session, and a job-seeker’s ‘weaknesses’ are none of your business. Are you going to volunteer your greatest weakness to the applicant sitting in front of you? If not, don’t ask this insulting question.

With All the Talented Candidates We Will Meet, Why Should We Hire You?
Since my time is valuable and you’re not paying me right now, if you don’t think I’m qualified for the job why are you wasting my time?
This is another snotty, from-the-mountaintop question that sticks around when it should have disappeared from interview scripts long ago. (Interview scripts themselves should have disappeared, too). You don’t need to ask job-seekers to bow and scrape and list their virtues as part of a job interview.
Would you ask a person on a first date why you should stoop to go out with them? Who would date anyone so ignorant? Stop asking this horrible job interview question right away!

Where Do You See Yourself in Five Years?
What do you care where a job-seeker sees him- or herself in five years or ten years or ten million years, considering that you’re not making them a job offer with any guarantee of longevity at all?
Some people think that people with career plans are better hires, but there is no evidence for that in real life.
If your plan is to hire the candidates who think the most like you, why not go whole hog and ask your candidates who they like in the presidential race and the Super Bowl and make your hiring decisions based on their answers?
You have a job opening and your assignment and responsibility is to hire the person who can perform the job most capably. Whether or not a person has a five-year plan is none of your beeswax and has nothing to do with a candidate’s suitability for the role.

If You Were (A Can Of Soup, An Animal, A Song) Which One Would You Be?
This line of interview questioning is childish and beneath you. Strike this question from your script today. If you’re thinking “It’s just a fun question — we like to have fun on job interviews!” then keep in mind that fun is in the eye of the beholder.
A job applicant who needs a job to pay the rent doesn’t come to a job interview to joke around with you. It’s unprofessional of you to try to insert your own hokey and infantile brand of business humor into the mix or to try and play amateur psychologist.

How Badly Do You Want This Job?
If your culture is toxic and you can only afford to hire people with no self-esteem, this is a great question to ask on job interviews. Otherwise, don’t do it.

What’s a better way to interview people for jobs? Have a simple, human conversation like this:
Polly, a manager: So, Aaron — it’s great to meet you!
Aaron: Nice to meet you too!
Polly: Have a seat. You probably have questions about the job. Fire away!
Aaron: Thanks! I do have a few questions. You’re looking for someone to switch you over to a new inventory system, I gather.
Polly: That’s a great call! I kept it kind of general in the job ad.
Aaron: Well, you mentioned software implementation in the job ad and then the recruiter who talked with me last week, Belem, asked me about inventory software specifically and of course, that’s my background.
Polly: Yes, we are upgrading to a new software vendor for our inventory control system.

Polly: We are narrowing the list down. Let’s start there. It sounds like you’ve been through this before! I’d love to hear that story.

What is happening in the conversation between Aaron and Polly? Polly and Aaron are simply getting to know one another and understand how each of them sees the world.
They are talking about the only relevant topic — Polly’s mission at work and her needs in her department — not which kind of soup Aaron would be if he were catapulted back in time to kindergarten and someone asked him the kindergarten-level question “What kind of soup would you be?”
It’s a new day, and the Human Workplace is already here. We can step up our job-interview game to have human conversations that will let both participants in the job interview see the other person’s brain working.
That’s all we can ask for, and it’s easy to get there — you just have to lose the brainless interview script and step up to your higher, human form.

It is no longer news that this year has been the worst for all Nigerian federal scholars worldwide due to some reasons that are not well known to us. Fine, after a lot of pressure from different quarters and several attempt to hold the Nigerian embassy hostage over here on different occasion in the last 5 months, we got an information through the embassy from the federal scholarship board that money is being sent. This information filtered in about 3 weeks ago approximately. We had a sigh of relief, although when the educational officer made it clear that we should only be expecting 5 months allocation for now, it did not go down well with us because most of us have incurred huge debts through the year. Good, at least part of our stipend is being sent so that we can pay part of our debt and keep hoping that before the year ends, we shall be getting our leftover packages.
MADAM, students in Russia and all other countries under the bea scholarship have been paid their five months stipend since the beginning of last week. Well that has only buttressed the fact that we are not an exemption to the 5 months stipend news that filtered in 4 weeks ago.

Today is Friday November 27, 2015. Approximately in a month time the year is rounding up and every worker goes on vacation. Lets come to think of it, what will be the fate of some students that recently graduated, they have been stuck over here since the past 5 months due to lack of funds and living on false hope daily that allowance is on the way. Is it the five months stipend that will resolve their 11 months stay in cuba that has made them incur huge debts from other foreign students and Cuban nationals, by the way what will happen to their corresponding 7 months allowance left for the year before they depart finally for Nigeria?

For God sake what have we done to deserve this? Is it that most workers in the FSB do not have children to put in our position? Why is it that there is always problem with the Cuban scholars even after all other counterparts under the same program are being paid? Must we always result to washing our dirty linen in the public by attacking our embassy over here before we get attention? Is there something shady and beyond you, about our stipend so that we can communicate higher authorities? Why is it that the educational officer over here and the embassy’s accountant are being insensitive to our plight by portraying a nonchalant attitude towards doing their job with respect to our stipend? Who have we offended? What have we the Nigerian-Cuban scholars done that makes us peculiar? They say no, your money has to come through Canada, is transferring money to Canada not as good as transferring money to Russia or may be even faster? The accountant said he does not even know if our money will be coming through Canada this time around because at times our money is sent through the embassy’s account in Europe, is it that the account department in the FSB does not give sufficient and clear information to the embassy over here? Why is it difficult for the account department of the FSB to communicate CBN the urgency attached to the sending of our money, just like our other counterparts, because we are already in Dec 4, 2015 without a kobo this year? Is it that the department in CBN that deals with money remittance to foreign scholars does not give feedback to the FSB so that you can have the transaction details and forward it to the Nigerian embassy over here for clear details instead of creating the doubt on ground at the moment? Are we all not Nigerians? Well these are so many questions that need answers.

Since our last hope in this land is the Nigerian embassy, and the shame we have gone through is no longer bearable, there is no pain and loss in washing our dirty linen in public. This will even help bring our attention to the Cuban government and hopefully they will be able to help in their own way by communicating every necessary office in Nigeria. The board should expect a distressed call from the Embassy over here at any moment, and please note that we will not be leaving not until we are paid.

I advice that you harness every media avenue within your disposal to make your voices heard. My brother also graduated from China and still over there for this same reason. Keep Pushing it!!! NIGERIA MUST HEAR YOUR VOICES!!!

Say it even when it hurts!

For the sake of your future, don't quit your Job for any woman. Try and hold your calm. Pray to God to give you the strength to. Try as much as you can to avoid looking at them. Keep your struggle in mind, it will help you stay focused. It is a difficult situation but you must prevail!.... As things improve for you, never forget to work on improving your standard of Education. The rest will be stories you shall live to tell; Fame, wealth and most importantly, the right woman will come.

Listen... There is no two ways about it. From your explanation, the thing bothering you is more of his looks than his character (e.g. Laughing style). Please don't deceive yourself, marriage is not the end of the world as African Ladies see it. why the rush? Politely ask him to give you some time, then think. if you cant take it don't manage, just tell him. However, know that there is no perfect one out there.
