PoliticsHow Buhari Was Forced Out Of London By Pressure From UK Security And Protesters. by hatchy(op): 9:52pm On Aug 28, 2017
The real reason why President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly hurried back to Nigeria after over 100 days in London has been revealed. Intelligence reports suggests that President Mohammadu Buhari’s sudden return last Saturday may have been forced ahead of his planned arrival by pressures from UK intelligence and security reports over planned protest at Abuja House in London by Diaspora Nigerians. There had been enfeebled campaign outside the Abuja House, London, despite growing angst and anger at the long stay of Nigeria’s number one citizen in the foreign land for over 105 days.
As learnt, President Buhari is not fully recovered from whatever treatment he underwent in the UK, which, as he admitted through his presidential aides, has necessitated his continued stay in London until his doctors certify him okay to return. Planned return by the president had been put, tentatively at between September 1 and 4 of this same month. As also gathered, the dates were fixed to coincide with Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying fixtures with Cameroon. The hope is that the soccer fiesta would keep the Nigerian public engaged and may not be too keen about monitoring Nigeria’s President’s return. INDEPENDENT reliably gathered that the Nigerian Intelligence Agency, NIA, had intercepted scrap information suggesting that ‘money and logistics’ have been mobilized to have Nigerians converge at the Abuja House in London to continue a sustained protest. The source of the information is not clear. But the logistic movements were said to have happened after recent picketing by the ‘Resume or Resign’ campaigners were halted in Abuja, the country’s capital.
As recalled, Charles Oputa, aka Charlie Boy showbiz impresario, social critic and model, had led the campaign. He was both tear gassed by police and attacked by lynch mobs but was rescued by men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC. A day after the conveners ended the protest, sustained mobilizations began in the UK to get Nigerians to come out to protest the continued stay of President Buhari in London for treatment of undisclosed ailment.
The UK police, anticipating the protest had placed a cordon at the Abuja House in London to keep the protesters at safe distance of the diplomatic house. But UK security agencies, especially the Metropolitan police of the country had become worried over the gathering. This was on account of terror threats and fears currently pervading UK and other European countries. As learnt from the newspaper’s London sources, the UK authority reportedly prevailed on federal government to have the ailing but recuperating President Buhari moved back to Nigeria or Saudi Arabia. The newspaper was also informed that initial plan of President Buhari was to return to the country between September 1 and 4 of the same month.

PoliticsWike Decried Level Of Marginalization Of South South And South East Region By FG by hatchy(op): 9:59am On Aug 28, 2017
The Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike has said that the South-South and the South-East region are the most marginalized region in Nigeria. Wike speaking during a meeting with 11 governors from the regions in Port Harcourt over the weekend said there are no 'reasonably' functional seaports and airports in the zones. Decrying the state of federal roads, the Rivers state governor said, the regions must strive to overcome all the challenges by sharing resources. Wike also said that the South-South and the South-East region are the most neglected in the country.
He said:“From geo-strategic economic perspective therefore, there is an urgent need to establish and link our cities with railways and superhighways; to provide viable and affordable flight services between our cities, and to ensure that cargoes are brought into the country and the regions through our seaports, jetties and ferry services as a veritable means of stimulating economic growth and social progress across our two regions."“Also, we are all aware that economic growth and social progress are possible only in a peaceful and secure environment," Wike said. The governor also called for the devolution of powers and resources to state and the institutionalization of state police.
Also speaking, the chairman of the South-South and South-East Governors' Forum Emmanuel Udom said the meeting is a new beginning for the regions. Udom said the presence of federal activities is not experienced in the regions. He also called for a creation of an industrial framework that will enhance regional development. Udom said:“Federal presence in the region is minimal and only seen in the presence of policemen."

PoliticsOhaneze Ndigbo Backs Nnamdi Kanu As Federal Govt. Plots To Return Him To Jail. by hatchy(op): 4:36pm On Aug 26, 2017
The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo has berated the Federal Government over its appeal to the court to imprison separatist leader, Kanu for flouting bail conditions. The apex socio-political association of the Igbo, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has condemned moves by the Federal Government to re-arrest the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is being prosecuted before an Abuja Federal High Court on treasonable felony charges. Kanu was granted bail on April 25, 2017, after spending several months in detention. But, in an application which was reportedly served on Kanu on Friday, the Federal Government asked the court to revoke the bail granted the IPOB leader, and also order his immediate arrest by the police. The Federal Government’s motion seeking the revocation of Kanu’s bail was hinged on the grounds that the IPOB leader had flouted the terms and conditions of the bail granted him by Justice Binta Nyako. The Federal Government noted that Kanu violated the bail conditions by granting interviews and holding rallies which attracted crowds that exceeded 10 persons, contrary to the orders of the court. The IPOB leader was equally described as a threat to national security for inaugurating an illegal security outfit known as Biafra Security Service. However, reacting to the development on Saturday, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, accused the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, of bias. Speaking in a statement entitled ‘Attorney General of the federation, please respect your oath of office!’, the Ohanaeze leader noted that the bail conditions handed down by the court violated Kanu’s human rights. Nwodo wondered why the AGF would move to re-arrest Kanu, when he (AGF) did not take any step to check the activities of the Arewa youths, who, he said, only ‘pretended’ to withdraw the quit notice they issued to Igbo in the North.
Parts of the statement read, “It has just been brought to my notice that the Attorney General of the Federation has approached the courts to incarcerate Nnamdi Kalu for flouting his bail conditions.“I am amazed that the distinguished attorney is prepared to contest the superiority of the provisions of the constitution on fundamental human rights of freedom of movement and freedom of association over an erroneous judicial proclamation violating those rights.“I am equally miffed by the audacity with which the Attorney General displays his bias without regard to his oath of office.“A few hours ago under the watchful eyes of the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and in total defiance of the Head of State’s proclamation of the rights of a citizen of Nigeria to live anywhere in Nigeria and to do business anywhere in Nigeria, the Arewa youths, pretending to withdraw their quit notice gave qualifications to the Head of State’s proclamation, issuing conditions for enjoyment of citizenship status.
“These same Arewa youths are supposed to have been arrested on the orders of the Governor of Kaduna State and the Inspector General of Police for acts of treason, conversion and sedition.“As the Chief Law Officer of the Federation, the Attorney General looks the other way. He does not go to court to seek an order of arrest or prosecution.
”Nwodo pointed out that, although he and some other Igbo leaders have been insulted by Kanu due to differences in opinion, the IPOB leader reserves the right to hold any point of view in a democratic society.“Nnamdi, as a citizen of Nigeria, is free to hold any point of view no matter how displeasing to anyone so long as they are not inciting or provoking any criminal activities.“I and some Igbo leaders have differences of opinion with Nnamdi on a number of issues. We have been insulted and abused by Radio Biafra but we concede them their right to differ from us. We concede them their nature to be exuberant as youths but we cannot be judgmental about their rights.“This is a democracy. In democracies, leaders are abused, pelted with rotten eggs and booed at, as the former Edo State governor was booed in Abuja a few days ago. These acts are not necessarily criminal.“I urge the Attorney-General not to exacerbate our already tense nation by commencing a legal action which portrays him as biased, insensitive and misdirected,” the Ohanaeze leader added.
