FamilyRe: My Fiancee Never Willingly Visit My Mother ....pls Advice Me. by hayorbaami: 4:47pm On Apr 04, 2015
aduaba:
Op do not be discouraged, not everyone is opened like that, me for instance I never went to my MIL's by myself and we have a very cordial relationship with respect now that I am married to her son.
As for your reasons why you made her next of kin and sponsoring her education nobody knows that, you should have your own reasons. I believe she's a good girl for you to do that so please don't heed to certain advice here. Four years is quite a while to throw away just like that. Good luck
Exactly, some people just concluded that she is not a good person.
You are the one in the relationship , not nairalanders. You alone knows the reason why you re sponsoring her education and you never asked anyone's opinion about that.
I believe you should discuss with her before jumping into conclusion.
I personally do not like the idea of going to a boyfriend's/fiancee's house alone and will only do that now since I am married. This is because I would not want to feel like part of the family and eventually things may not work out.
The happened to someone very close to me. After six years of relationship. It didn't work out . The lady 's in-laws live here in uk and each time they go to Nigeria, she will leave her school, go to her fiance's house and do all the house chores.
The fiancee travelled to the US and met another lady. They got married. The lady is not aware till this moment.
I really felt bad for her because am related to the fiancee. When my aunty called yesterday disscussing the issue with me , I was really disappointed.
She told me all the things the lady does for her each time she travels to Nigeria. I kept reminding her the lady has the right to know so that she can move on with her life but they re all scared on how to go about it.

But you can judge every relationship with that. I just hope you handle the issue with care.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan's Legacy Of Change By Reno Omokri (must Read) by hayorbaami: 9:59pm On Apr 03, 2015
Election is over. There is no need to market this bad product anymore. No amount of 'heroism' will erase the fact that he ruined Nigeria and left it worse than he met it. These worshippers are trying so hard to paint GEJ in a good light thinking it will cover up for all his corrupt practices as a president. What is did was commendable, accepted. Overflogging the matter is making the whole thing look like a planned work from GEJ's team to sentimentally buy people on their side so that they can forgive and overlook all his avoidable shortcomings.

This hero talk is becoming really irritating. Enough of the distraction.
PoliticsRe: Nigerians Expectations From President-elect, Buhari by hayorbaami: 9:22pm On Apr 03, 2015
francizy:
Any performance less than delivering 50% percent of his campaign promise will be termed "failure and cluelessness"

We are watching him and I hope he's mentally fit for bashing and name calling?

It's easier said than done. Yes because they promised heaven on earth and hopefully, they do what they promised instead of all talk and no action. We also hope his performances will be felt by all Nigerians and not only on paper as GEJ's performances were always termed "paper achievements".

We are watching you general. Brace yourself.
Which other name calling can be worse than the ones he got pre election period undecided. He has been called all despicable names and even wished death, yet he hasn't gone wild or dignified them with a response. His skin is as thick as ever because he is a focused man with vision. So save the 'threat'

All ye GMB haters waiting for him to fail, brace yourself up for disappointment.

GEJ fanatics do not even want Buhari sworn in to fulfil his promises but they want us to give Jonathan additional 4years after 6years of failure. Bunch of nonentities.

General Buhari, God is on your side. He will guide you to make Nigeria great once again. The same way they were disappointed and bitter that you won despite their hate campaigns is the same way they will eat back their words when they start witnessing a positive change.

That said, the act is really disgusting, backward and childish to me and i strongly condemn it. angry

FamilyRe: My Fiancee Never Willingly Visit My Mother ....pls Advice Me. by hayorbaami: 10:29pm On Mar 29, 2015
Your fiancee has not done anything wrong. The fact that she never visited her doesn't mean she doesn't like her.
Have you talked to her about it? She may not even know she is doing anything wrong.
During my courtship, I never visited my mother in-law on my own. I just dnt see any reason to. I am kind of reserved and don't know how to do all those things. I thought I will not be free around them. But that doesn't mean I don't respect or love her. I prefer calling. After our marriage , she came visiting for two weeks and she enjoyed her stay. I even got gifts for her to give to my sister-in law.
Don't be deceived by some girls that do eye service during courtship but changes after marriage. Not every girl will throw themselves at their mother-in-law but that doesn't they won't treat them with respect.
But I think you should discuss your fears with her.

How much is 1000 pounds per day in Uk? If u re in the right profession u can earn that.

I know of SAP contractors that earn that in the UK. You can earn so much if you know what works in UK market.

TheSonOfMark:
I don't know if it's because of the rich upbringing or nature itself but little Cameron Okoye is going to grow into a self-conceited, egoistic adult. His stinct in the 'Personally' music video confirms it.

I know so 'cause I'm guilty of it...but I'm working on it.
Lol. You made your conclusions based on pictures and his 'stinct' in personally video?

I would have said give the little boy a break, if I also wasn't slightly irritated watching him spray money on his parent's wedding day and also his performance with dad that same day. I just wasn't seeing an innocent little boy at that moment. I was seeing what you just described, but I brushed it off as one of those things, so yeah, I kinda understand where you are coming from, even though we both may be very wrong.

@ topic, cute family pic. Even without smiling, lola looks great in pictures.

CelebritiesRe: An Open Letter To All Nigerian Celebrities Who Love Flaunting Their Wealth by hayorbaami: 9:34pm On Mar 17, 2015
This is the most uninteresting open letter I've ever read. What a badly written piece. It could have made a good read, judging by the title, but it is just too all over the place. The title is the only thing I agree with.

From your title, I thought you were against them flaunting their wealth, but you ended up being against getting the good things that they can afford.

..And that 250n watch BS up there huh, babe please undecided. There is a reason those watches (and other goods) have different prices based on one's pocket. If I can afford to buy a 15000 watch, I wouldn't settle for a 250n one, just because you will feel offended. Go for what you can afford. Its as simple as that.

Hello house,

I have two friends that wants to visit UK in june and the other in July.
Can I Invite both of them within that short space of time without affecting any of them. Secondly, I hope it will not affect me in anyway because I hold a spouse visa and it expires in November although renewal is easy.

Also, what are the requirement for one that wants to give birth in Uk.

CultureRe: The Uselessness Of White Wedding In African Societies!!! by hayorbaami: 5:23pm On Feb 23, 2015
They want to promote culture yet they talk about European premier league, listen to foreign music, sit all day to watch foreign movies, drive foreign cars, play foreign games, practice foreign religion, (abi how many of una dey practice African religion
undecided),wear foreign designer clothes, suits and shoes, some don't even have a piece of African Clothing in their wardrobe.

Many do not give their kids the cultural names anymore, they all bear aliona, white, alora, audery, and so on, yet you open your mouth to condemn people, indirectly bashing women as usual like they are the only ones who copy western lifestyles . Yeh, Nigerian men can be shameless hypocrites.

@Op, even your username is unafrican tongue. If you wanna condemn Nigerians' unafrican ways, then make sure you are 100% African, anything outside that is PURE HYPOCRISY and UTTER foolishness.

Pap was one of my best meal when I was very young. One day mum sent me to go and blend the maize for the pap. I stood there and watch the lady unconsciously packed birds poo and blended with my maize.

I guess I was afraid to talk because the woman is old. I didn't mention it to anyone when I got home. But my siblings noticed I stopped taking pap which was one of my best meal back den. They were really surprised and asked me why I dont want to take pap. Each time they ask I just smile and reply that I just dont feel like having it.

I didn't taste the pap until that set finished. I told them 5years after the incident. Lol

I graduated with a 2-2.. 3.47 GPA.
I hate it so much. I believed if I had I read harder I would have made a 2:1. It is so painful because no one cares about your GPA. It is is your grades they are after.

It is good to have good grades not just for the sake of getting a job after school but for your self.

Nowadays, most top companies requires a minimum of 2:1 because of the competition.
FamilyRe: The Cry Of A Heartbroken Nigerian Husband In Houston whose wife cheated by hayorbaami: 7:05pm On Feb 09, 2015
I really dont pity the guy undecided. He saw it coming. He just chose to ignore it. The wife never respected him in Nigeria.

Her family came to live with them just barely a month after their wedding and the wife didn't deem it fit to notify her husband. She registered in Unilag full NBA without discussing it with her husband who provided the finances.

If she can behave in such a disrespectful manner in Nigeria , How does he expects her to behave in US where the law favours her?

He made a big error relocating to the US despite all the wife and her family did for him in Nigeria.

He should just move on and stop whining undecided

My husband does the shopping. I got so use to it that I dont like shopping for foodstuffs. Sometimes he will ask that we go together but I feel lazy doing that now. I guess he spoilt me. I just remind him of what we need in the house and the brand he should get.

Maybe you should join him in doing the shopping rather than he doing it alone. You can get the opportunity to make decisions when shopping together.

FamilyRe: Where Did You Meet Your Spouse? by hayorbaami: 12:15am On Jan 23, 2015
I met my husband on social media 4years ago He sent a text to my inbox but ignored him. After few days I decided to reply his messages . We exchanged bbm contact and we became friends. At that point I knew nothing was going to happen between us because he lives in UK and I do not want a long distance relationship
After few months of chatting, he told me he was coming back home finally . He already registered for service and he would like to settle in Nigeria. I was so glad. He came to Naija but didn't spend up to 2 months when he told me he was tired of Nigeria and he got an fantastic job offer abroad which was a very good opportunity.
for him. We decided to go our separate ways because we knew it wasn't going work.. The distance and the time difference will not help and we barely know eachoda. We decided to be friends and always keep in touch.
After a year, I went for my masters in UK. He knew all my plans and he came visiting. We got talking again and he told me of his plans to come back to UK to finally. He is tired of living abroad. 3 months to his arrival to Uk, He told me of his change of plans. He has has always wanted to work in a particular country and would love to explore the country for 6 months. I know he is a kind of person that loves travellin and I don't want him to regret not trying. But he promised if he doesn't get anything within 2 weeks he is done travelling.
He came back after 2 weeks as promised and we got to know eachoda very well. I finished my masters and I told him I was going back to Nigeria. He said 'I will never allow you to back to Nigeria , I can't bear the thought of losing you again' we got married a year after.
It wasn't a smooth journey at all. I believe that the 1and half year of staying in the same city made a lot of difference in the relationship because we got to know eachoda well. I am always grateful to God that I made the decision of doing my masters abroad because it brought close to my destined husband.

Where are your siblings living in the UK.

How much do they pay for their apartment monthly.

Say it let's see. When you siblins applied for the UK Visa, what was the minimum fee UKBA demanded that they must have monthly(Upkeep and Accommodation)

There is no big deal about living and schooling abroad. All these figures that ure quoting are just conditions to grant you visa. I schooled in UK and my father was just a mere civil servant whose retirement was due few months after my admission. Some schools even allow you to pay their fees thrice.
Even though my parents gave me all the money as stated by the UKBA, I didn't live in an expensive apartment. I shared a room with a friend, worked for 20 hours. I was able to save money at the end .
It just depends on how you manage and spend your money.
I have a friend whose father was a pensioner while he was schooling. The only thing the father paid for was his school fees and accommodation for few months for him to settle in Uk. He worked for his living allowance and the rest of his accommodation.
And as to buying designer shoes and bag, anyone can go into their stores wear it and snap without buying. Also, you can afford to buy designer once in a while when they are doing massive sales. All you have to do is find your way around UK anf you will survive.

The minimum fee UKBA asked is 800 pounds, multiply that by 12, gives you 9600 pounds so I don't know what you are talking about.

Am still waiting for your response

Op is obviously a sensible man who understands the need to give a detailed and appreciative post as his closing remarks and he just did that. Did you underestimate the power of the online pressure mounted on inspired? You keep saying people carried the matter on top head, would you have preferred we all read Op's opening post and kept quiet?

The fact that inspired delivered is nothing to be commended at all and doesn't erase the bad image and testimonies that have been shared so far by different posters , lessons should have been picked by the wise ones. Except someone wants to become and overnight celebrity like the Op.
