HealthRe: NMA Strike Suspended? by hayorbaami: 7:03am On Aug 07, 2014
eyeview: In other civilized parts of the world, the Laboratory scientists are the ones that ought to culture this virus and then forward their observations to the pharmacists who will dig deep to develop a vaccine for it. Doctors are just to administer it.
So they shouldn't call out the doctors if this other two haven't done their parts yet. Crises have emerged and they are calling on the doctors, but pay wise, they want the doctors salary!
Lol, so pharmacist and lab scientists now have defined roles in the hospital? I thought doctors claimed they could do all of this and they are dispensable. I thought their roles were to dispense drugs and the others ordinary technicians whose jobs can be done by doctors. Doctors want high pay for health hazards for themselves alone, as if the other health professionals don't come in contact with the patients. Everyone's becoming more hypocritical and selfish by the day. The Pharmacists and lab scientists fighting for consultant roles and positions too, instead of fighting for more money to be put into the health sector so they can get standard laboratories and equipments for more research and bring more dignity and appreciation for their profession. The health system is a joke. I wonder how it is expected to improve without team work.

HealthRe: How Do Some Ebola Patient Survive Why Others Don't? Here Is Why. by hayorbaami: 6:43pm On Aug 06, 2014
bushdoc9919: Well studies appear to show that direct contact with fluid from infected people may predispose someone to getting Ebola. It does not mean that everyone who touches the fluid of an infected person will come down with the disease...but the risks are higher.(Symptomatic ebola patients shed the virus in their secretions). However ,the actual mechanism of transmission is not fully clear....and more research needs to be done

The virus probably does not enter the skin....but if you do not wash/disinfect yourself thoroughly....you could get infected by the virus by eating food (or indeed animal reservoirs like the fruit bat)...with your poorly cleaned hand( Another good reason to wash your hands well).

Your risk of infection is low if you wear protective clothing...and thoroughly wash your hands after contact with an infected patient.

WHO'S factsheet on the virus
Thanks a lot, I'll get busy with the links too.
HealthRe: How Do Some Ebola Patient Survive Why Others Don't? Here Is Why. by hayorbaami: 5:57pm On Aug 06, 2014
bushdoc9919: Well....AIDS is the tail end of HIV infection....what happens when HIV has wrecked the body'simmune system completely (if the infected was not taking drugs).

As for new drug treatment....there is a experimental drug which may prevent HIV from integrating with the cell''s DNA.(Integrases).
I have read ebola can't be contracted through fluids(sweat, secretion, saliva and the rest). My question is, does that mean anyone that comes in contact with the sweat of the ebola patient automatically gets the disease irrespective of whether there's an opening on the body surface? Does the virus act without getting into the host's system or it just begins action from the surface of the skin. Or it can enter through the tiny skin pores? I would appreciate your input on this. Thank you.

Thank God decent wedding gowns are back in vogue now.

Lola looks good. I have no comment about the couple, but I wish then a happy married life.

And by the way, we now know it isn't the whole okoye family against lola, it is just jude undecided

Fish brained soldier. The girl's hp must have been made of diamond to have stabbed a fellow military man over a slap. The same people that humiliate civilians for putting on any camo outfit are now comfortable with their girlfriends wearing it.
FoodRe: Why Ladies Shy To Eat In Canteen by hayorbaami: 7:32am On Aug 05, 2014
Speaking for myself, and if your definition of canteen is the type you sit on some dirty long benches and face one another like its a large family house with stainless plates being used to serve and some dirty, irritating jug and handtowel dangling in your face you as you settle to eat, then count me out. It is not shyness but I get irritated easily with those kinda settings and won't be never be caught in such a setting again. My first time in one of those kinda canteen, the person I went with regretted taking me there cos I just could not stand the environment and dislike eating in stainless or plastic bowls outside my home. I think Most females would rather do their cooking at home than settle to eat in those kinda canteens.

If you are referring to a decent and neat restaurant where you at least get to sit on a decent chair with at most 4 people at a table and get served in ceramic plate, you can count me in cool cool
FamilyRe: Is It Cool For A Husband To Always Send His Wife On An Errand? by hayorbaami: 11:32pm On Aug 04, 2014
Saraha1: God abeg no give me husband way go dey send me Errand oh.Abeg not with this bowleg oh.
Oh my God, this got me in tears..lmao!

I'm not used to sending or running errands for people. While growing up, my parents were the only ones that sent us errands as they wished. We siblings had to be extremely nice to one another to get errands done. My elder sister used to act really nice and beg me before she could send me on her personal errands, I do the same too before sending my younger ones on personal errands, including the one I'm 6years older. I guess we were just brought up to do things ourselves and even if we had to send someone, it had to be done in the most considerate and courteous way.

I would find it very difficult to adapt to a husband that sends very petty personal errands, especially when it will be more convenient and reasonable if he does it himself.

Note- I'm referring to strictly personal errands like buying recharge cards, going to get a ringing phone, getting a remote, getting drinking water, charging of phone, and so on, things the sender can also conveniently do but feel the need to send another out of laziness or need to feel like the elderly one\boss.

chimoz: Just imagine the sacrifice the doctor made and tomorrow johesu members who aside the nurses don't come close to patients would want to be at par with medical Doctors.
Am sorry colleague, it's the price we have to pay and the sacrifices we have to make as medical personnels
Can you and other doctors just shuush it already? You keep screaming as of only doctors come in contact with patients, don't other paramedics do? Cleaners nko? Hospital maids? Mortuary attendants? Who collects whatever fluid needed for the series of tests. The hazard allowance should be for EVERYONE in the health sector. Enough of this selfishness and open your eyes and brains to see the bigger picture . No one deserves hazard allowance less in the health sector abeg. You all should fight for it.

And suddenly everyman is condemning and distancing themselves from prostitution too shocked shocked. Let men keep on catching them ladies young in the university, let them keep patronising them ,forgetting these same ladies will end up in their fellow men's homes. And for those shouting ,Karma, last I checked, karma is not gender specific. Peace looks abnormal. I so don't like her figure.

My top5
Omotola
Joselyn
Yvonne okoro
Mercy
Ebube

The 5 have one thing in common; classy and appealing correct curves. Juliet is not bad too.

Some curves up there are forced curves eg-halima and empress(with their big tommy) , some are unappealing eg peace, some slutty, eg anita J, and some are just curveless and should not have made that list eg jackie. As for tools, well, her hips are descended kinda.

tosinhtml: OK, the only point you have is that i tagged you a feminist. Ok, i apologize.

( Point of Correction ) -- Next time, don't back up a S-t-u-p-i-d statement , either made by a Man or Woman. Because it makes you automatically S-t-u-p-i-d.

You knew quite well that the statement was plainly S-t-u-p-i-d and you still backed it up.
No need to apologise for tagging me a feminist, it is not an insult you m0r0n. I wear the badge proudly. Men like you who just feel the need to mention it in every discussion irritate me because it makes you appear like bitter insecure eediots whowould end up 6ft below if they keep mentioning it every moment of their lives like it is a threat to their miserable existence.

As for a comment being st_pid or not, I won't take you serious on that. You are clearly the s-t-pid one for wanting to shove your opinion down my throat.

This is Marriage we are talking about not someone you are just Dating #Word.
A man made a comment I backed up but you eediotic weakling ignored that and decided to jump on my post. Why didn't you tag the guy a feminist? When will you retarrded men even learn to keep feminism out of your lips? Better watch it if you don't want your obituary to read "died of hatred for feminism". Olofo!
RomanceRe: My Hubby Is Emotionally Mean by hayorbaami: 10:19am On Aug 01, 2014
onegig: This thread just confirmed the romance section is filled with kids having mucus running down their noses.

@op
You need to tell him how his actions hurt you. He is just plain insensitive and childish.

No matter what the fight is, a simple happy birthday is the least thing he could have said to you. We even wish our enemies happy birthday on their facebook pages let alone your spouse.
Finally bro. I was beginning to think the thread was a joke full of clowns. The silly comments and the likes they have amassed just left me speechless. Imagine one poster making a fuss over the word insensitive which aptly describes the man. And just like you said we wish exes who hurt us or even friends who have betrayed us happy birthday not to talk of one's spouse. Sometimes I don't think people understand what marriage is. Isn't it the height of insensitivity to ignore one's child on his or her birthday just because he misbehaved? Sometimes I think majority of nairaland men are just out to bully the womenfolk. I am saying this because I'm certain These comments would not have taken this dimension if the poster was a woman. All of a sudden everyone is interested in the other side of the story we obviously can not get (except the hubby comes around).

The mischievous poster that modified Op's post is sick. Why mislead people. And to think I fell for it. Was wondering why Op will kiss her ex, get caught and still have guts to open this thread and claim she didn't cheat.
RomanceRe: Distant Relationships And Phone Calls by hayorbaami: 8:29pm On Jul 31, 2014
Okay, I dont question threads that make front page but I have to say I'm quite surprised this made front page within an hour and with barely 8comments like it is a matter of life and death issue. Abi na seun 2nd moniker be this?

Anyway, back to the matter, You don't want any chatting medium and can't do without hearing each other's voice. I can't even suggest skype because I'm sure you'l complain about affordability too. Search for cheaper call rates of the available service providers.

Ps- I bet mtn will be seriously rooting for your relationship.

For the records I support Peters stance with his wife. PDP? I am not political
I sighed reading that post of his. What has that gibberish got to do with clara's abuse story. Feminism angle too is already creeping in. Next you'll hear is "e be like say na you be clara"..nairaland eh.

Like someone said this story has made fp a couple of times in the past year and we have been fed with the same story, so people leaning towards this version of your story will be a tough one. Yeah, kinda like expect more antagonising posts. Lol
FamilyRe: Update On Clara Chime. by hayorbaami: 2:50pm On Jul 31, 2014
pickabeau1: Fair point

I wish though a normal woman was used

Mrs chime is connected
I modified my post but you already quoted me. Why do you think she found her feet only because she is connected? She is neither physically nor mentally challenged. She has her certificates and With or without patience she could have done something good for herself in another line(business, corporate or whatwhat).

Btw,what do you mean by you wish a normal woman was used. The thread is about an update on mrs clara a victim of abuse.
FamilyRe: Update On Clara Chime. by hayorbaami: 2:40pm On Jul 31, 2014
pickabeau1: That's ideal.

How many people step out of a situation they are used to

Recidivism occurs when there is nothing to live for

Have u heard of Stockholm syndrome
Not many people do and I think that is why stories like this should be shared to motivate the few ones at the verge of leaving to take that bold step without having a last thought.

Just saw your modified post. Where clara would be if patience did not step in? She would be In a sane environment regaining her freedom and sanity. She's not a physically nor mentally challenged. She's well educated and With or without patience, she would get something doing (except of course she's lazy).
FamilyRe: Update On Clara Chime. by hayorbaami: 2:31pm On Jul 31, 2014
pickabeau1: I am not seeking to down anything. there is no back and forth

Read what i said

She is an exception because this job was arranged by Dame Jonathan. How many people have that kind of access

The message should be that we need to instititionalise rehabilitation for victims of domestic abuse so that it is not only those who are connected who can recover

Everything on NL does not have to be adversarial.Quoting your post does not mean i am downing on it..

Kalas (whatever it means)
Actually the message is "NOTHING should stop you from leaving an abusive relationship..." There are rehabilitation institutions for victims of abuse, don't act naïve on this. But of what use are these centres if victims of abuse are not ready to leave because of money, stigma or fear of being without a man, shame, etc?

First lady could have chosen to remain in the abusive relationship because of the position, fame, wealth and avoidance of stigma , but she spoke out and that is why she got the needed help. Only a victim can set herself free when she wants to, no one else can. And help can only come when you genuinely seek for it.

@ topic, this is the first time I'm reading this version of her story though. I have always read that she was the reason the first wife left and she knew who she was getting herself involved with, a philandering picanto-sharing man. Whatever the story is, I'm glad she's set herself free and has moved on. That's the most important thing. I assume she'll get the custodian of her son sooner too.
FamilyRe: Irresponsible Fathers And What They Cause To The Society by hayorbaami: 2:09pm On Jul 31, 2014
There is No need to desperately deviate from the topic . This thread is about irresponsible fathers. Anyone who wants to open that of irresponsible mothers who clearly exist should do so.

I personally do not pity these men at all at old age or in sickness when they become lonely and start to seek repentance. You reap what you sow, and as you lay your bed, na so you go lie on it. There's a reason mothers are always and will continue to be celebrated more than fathers because you'd come across 5 (or more) irresponsible fathers before you come across one irresponsible mother. It is what it is.

A thread to celebrate them has been opened by aisha or so sometime ago. The purpose of this thread is to admonish irresponsible fathers. They owe their responsibilites to their children, their mistresses don't. This is coming from an intending father (OP) to fellow fathers-to-be. Lessons should be picked.

I am grateful I have a good and responsible dad and I bless God for my husband and brother in law too.
RomanceRe: Is It Ever Okay For A Woman To Propose To A Man? by hayorbaami: 10:05am On Jul 31, 2014
Apparently, a lot of men don't find it okay, judging from the comments so far. Not even the man in the picture. He's obviously not excited about, his reaction is kinda like 'come on woman, get up and stop embarrassing me, I never ready for marriage" grin grin.

I'm sure a lot of women would not mind proposing to their men when they are ready if only they don't get tagged desperate or pushy or cheap and end up getting a capital NO smiley.
