Hello house, I am master student in Czech Republic.I plan to attend an IEEE conference in California in June this years Unfortunately, I got refusal at the US embassy in Prague, Czech Republic on the basis of not having tie in Czech Republic. I am confused because I am a student in the middle of my studies and would obviously return back to continue studying.
My question is what do you advise me to do at this point, should I reapply ? ..if yes what should I do to make my application stronger?

Please help! I applied for UK Visitors Visa last month, and went for biometrics in the 25th July, 2022. Unfortunately, as I speak the UKVI has not taken decision on my application. However, I need to use my passport this Friday,
2nd September ,2022 for travelling to Czech Republic
What I Done so Far?
1. Send a paid email to UKVI contact ,explaining to them about my situation ,urging them to take quick action
2. Visited TLS office in VI to submit a withdrawal form because at this point I don't care the visa, all I care about is getting back my passport
3. Visited the UK Consulate in Walter Carrington VI, but the security guys at the Consulate would not let me in nor ready to assist.

What is at Stake
1. if I don't fly with my current ticket on the 2nd September 2022, I may have to pay over a million naira for Flight ticket to Prague for days starting from 5th of September,2022.
2. I must be in Czech Republic latest 10th of September to enroll for my studies else I may have issue with my admission.

Please guru in the house, please help me.

Travel / Do Embassies Open During Nationwide Strike by hayzee545(m): 9:49pm On Sep 25, 2020
Hello Nairaland, I am just curious to know if Embassy normally opens during nationwide industrial action in Nigeria.
The reason why I am asking this question is that there is possibility that NLC begins their strike on Monday, and I have a visa interview at the Czech embassy on Tuesday, and I am worried if there would not be interruption because I travelled all the way from Lagos to Abuja for the interview.
For those that have been in this situation before, kindly share how you managed the situation.
Thank you.
Travel / Nigeria Tops List Of Third Country Citizen Studying In Estonia by hayzee545(m): 8:25pm On Feb 07, 2020
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, most foreign students who come to Estonian universities from outside the EU hail from Russia, Nigeria and Ukraine.

Statistics for 2015-2019 show the University of Tartu (Tartu ülikool) sees the highest number of third-country students coming from Russia (257), followed by Ukrainian (213) and Azeri students (118).

Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech / Tallinna tehnikaülikool) has the highest representation of third country students from Nigerians (207), followed by students from India (168) and Bangladesh (124).

There are over a hundred non-EU students from Nigeria at Tallinn University (Tallinna ülikool).

The Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences (Eesti ettevõtluskool Mainor), often known informally as the Mainor school, sees the highest number of non-EU foreign students coming from Bangladesh (117).

The number of students from third countries at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theate (Eesti muusika- ja teatriakadeemia) is smaller, and also from a different set of countries; Chinese (63) and Korean (55) students are the most represented here.

In December, the interior ministry sent a draft amendment to the Aliens Act aimed at restricting the opportunities for foreigners and short-term workers studying in Estonia to bring their children to Estonia, and to prohibit foreign students from working more than 16 hours a week.

The stated purpose of the amendment is to ensure that only those foreigners who provide significant added value to Estonian society and its economy remain in Estonia after their studies. It also seeks to prevent situations where the purpose of studying abroad is not to acquire an education, but to enter the Schengen area and settle in Estonia or elsewhere in the EU, permanently.

I have been an ardent follower of this thread, and I really appreciate the work you guys are doing. I want to seek a travel advice and I hope some people will be able to advice me appropriately. Recently, I applied for a Canadian study permit ,I was rejected, so this time I don't want to encounter any rejection at another embassy.
By July I intend to travel to US for a Yoruba social cultural event with my dad who is a local government chairman in the capacity of a personal assistant. I have been his PA since Sept 2017, and my pay is little above 100k. Though, not one of the speaker, my dad plans to meet some of his local govt indigene at the sideline of the event.
My question is that hope it is not a red flag if I emphasis that he is my father cum boss.
Please, the above question may sound dumb but I just want to another avoidable rejection for now, I believe it's better for me not to apply now and be patient till when I can confidently say I'm eligible.

And that may not even change in months to come, which will definitely reflect in my statement of account. My dad is my sponsor , i presented his companies statement of accounts. Good morning brethren, Please I need someone to advise me on what to do next, this is my case:
- I applied for study permit through online platform, on 26 Sept
- Got a refusal letter on 27 Oct with the following reasons:
1. Purpose of visit
2,. Employment prospects in country of residence.
3. Current employment status.
4. Personal assets and financial status.
N.b : I applied to study computer health and Health information Science combined at university of Victoria, I was admitted to start frm 300l based on d fact that I am graduate of computer science and Engr .

Now I want an advice on what to do next, the following are some of my considerations:
- write the school, seek for deferment of admission, and work on my LOE and financial status, then apply next year .
- Put up another application immediately, not minding the fact that my acceptance letter expires on Jan 2 , 2018, and d school resumes also.
- forget about the admission, go for another course of study, and apply next year.

Politics / Radicalism Like In Rivers Is The Only Way To Defeat APC- PDP Supporter by hayzee545(m): 7:04am On Sep 30, 2016
A Peoples Democratic Party PDP, supporter while showing his anger on his party’s loss at the just concluded Edo governorship poll, said that the party may not be able to survive the ruling APC onslaught during poll, unless it goes radical like its chapter in Rivers, Bayelsa and Ekiti.

The PDP die hard fan posted the following on Facebook :

"If PDP doesn’t go radical like Bayelsa or Rivers does.
APC won’t be afraid of rigging them out. Wake up call to Ondo, Ekiti and most especially my Osun.
I leave everything to God."

Politics / Those Who Destroyed Nigeria Were Born Between 1956-1976 – The Worst Generation by hayzee545(m): 4:17pm On Sep 13, 2016
By Bamidele Ademola-Olateju

Their fathers labored for Nigeria. They built a nation from nothing to something. They fought and won the civil war. They were good in anything they did. They were mostly teachers, civil servants, artisans, farmers and traders. Few were lawyers, doctors and engineers. Regardless of their profession, they toiled to educate their children. They were hard working, largely incorruptible and very God fearing.

They believed in family. They were stern disciplinarians. They imbibed the work ethics of the colonialists. Those who are educated were very bright and sound by every definition. They trained their children and children of extended family members. They were frugal and contented. They built our public institutions.

They gave their children the best education they could afford. They denied themselves. They showed their children the way of God early. Religious bigotry was unknown to them. They were apostles of free association and religion.

Their children grew up and became self absorbed! They jettisoned all they were taught. They are the most hypocritical in the history of Nigeria. They never fought for anything, they hold no enduring beliefs, no defining values and they stand for nothing.

The worst generation brought college education into the mainstream. They are very educated and very credentialed. They went to the best schools in Nigeria and the world. They grew up in Nigeria’s gilded age. Oil money was flowing freely. They did not take cue from the upright in their father’s generation. They modeled their lives after the deviants of their parents generation. Their parents were noble, they were feckless!

The worst generation are enamored with material accumulation. They are avaricious and venal. They met a sterling civil service and corrupted it. They were handed a promising health sector and they kcompromised it. They were educated in budding world class facilities, they ruined it. Their father tilled the soil, they disdain it. They discarded their culture and equated it with filth. They rejected their native language as not modern and unfit to be spoken. They traded their brain for money. They embraced Islam and Christianity and became more intolerant.

The worst generation abandoned optimistic meritocracy. They unmoored Nigeria and reshaped it, as a nation of no standard. They abandoned the stew of shame we were fed that ostracizes the aberrant. They love travel, exotic vacations, luxury goods and anything with a high price tag. All these are not bad in themselves if they were able to acquire them from their own sweat. No! They are patently unable to distinguish between their pockets and the treasury. They are masters of conspicuous consumption.

Their parents handed them strong communal ethos, they subtracted themselves to become individualistic and self-centered. Their fathers were open, they are closed and bigoted. Their parents gave back to society, they removed from it.

They are addicted to a life of short cuts. They bought exam questions and admissions for their children to gain unfair advantage. They look for every opportunity to isolate themselves in their cocoon of indifference. They swear their children will not suffer as they did. Funny! This is not the generation that fetched wood for sale to go to school. This is not the generation that worked during the day to write Exam Success and City and Guilds during the night. They are insufferable asses who project their hedonism on their children.

Look around! This is the generation in the Senate and the House of Representatives. They are the ones occupying the governor mansions today. They are the one on EFCC’s list. They are the lawyers holding Nigeria hostage. They are the saboteurs of Nigeria’s economy. They are the enemies of Nigeria. They are the problem. They gave birth to the aimless and miseducated youths. They mortgaged Nigeria. History will record them as the worst or at best, the rot of Nigeria will be traced to them. nbsp;Sadly, I was born within those years!

Politics / I Never Said FG Will Revokes Banks’ Licences – Ngige by hayzee545(m): 4:30pm On Jun 23, 2016
Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige has stated that he was quoted out of context in his warning to managements of financial institutions in the country to stop further retrenchment of workers or risked being sanctioned.

Ngige made the clarification today at a meeting summoned by Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institution, over his threat to banks on the mass retrenchment of staff.

The labour minister in Geneva while addressing newsmen on the sideline of the 105th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) said “the Federal Government gave the licences to the banks to operate and if its directives are not adhered to the licences will be withdrawn if the need arises.”

But today at the meeting the Senate committee, the former Anambra Senator said he never said the Federal government will retrench bank’s licences.

“We never said we’re going to retrench banks’ licenses,” Ngige was quoted at the gathering today.

In his reaction, Chairman of the Committee, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim (APC, Kwara North), said he was glad that the minister came before the committee to make the clarification.

He furthered that, the Senate will work with the labour ministry to ensure Nigerian workers are treated with all nobilities deserved by them.

The public debate also witnessed that presence of Nigeria Labour Congress President, Comrade Ayuba, representative of Central Bank of Nigeria, Access Bank, Diamond Bank, Ecobank, Trade Union Congress (TUC) among other participants.
