9jaRealist: Wouldn't know, since I do NOT do rituals (nor believe in them), but perhaps you have some expertise in the area to share with the rest of us. My LIMITED point was that's NOT the way to treat/transport a mentally-ill patient. The primitive mindset of many Nigerians in respect of mental illness is downright disgraceful. Someone on this thread has already equated mental illness with "violently insane"! SMH > If she was not going to harm herself or others, she wouldn't have been bound! What was most important was transferring her to hospital, without her harming herself or others. By binding her hands, they didn't commit any crime-- anywhere in the world, if anybody is a risk or at risk, you restrain that person. |

9jaRealist: Again, only in a ZOO would someone think it normal that even a violent mental patient (even though neither of the 2 news stories said ANYTHING about her being "violent" ) would be trussed up like livestock and bundled into the back of a car with her baby in the front seat (apparently headed NOWHERE near a hospital). Anyway, cannot blame folks who are apparently limited by their environment. SMH > Hahahaha! Can you suggest what he should have done when his wife relapsed? I know someone who eviscerated his mother when he relapsed! The gory video is online! So tying his wife's hands ( hands alone) is barbaric? You have not seen madness before is why you are running your mouth. Mind you restraint is either physical or chemical, what is most important is preventing harm to the person or people around! |

PeachtreeReside: A police escort, a nurse and most definitely an ambulance would Have prevented this whole mess. If it's true. An ambulance from where? You think you are in the abroad? And police escort to transport an insane patient?! Tell the people that got lynched after being accused of stealing Penis (by touch) to always go around with police escort |

raphy: I know but just one injection she will fall asleep and be treated.thats there way.. but you know naija no de look face before they beat you and u say the truth. Say the poor guy was transporting her to hospital, what way of restraint would you have suggested? I have seen 4 men try to subdue one mad woman before! She was crying all the while they wanted to kill her. Even when she got to hospital, it took jab upon jab before she was was sedated. Crase is not a simple something! |

9jaRealist: I am tempted to tell you how DUMB this post is, but I am nice and suspect you already know that... Because only in a ZOO will anyone think the only options are to tie-up a mental patient or let them drive a car. SMDH > Einstein! When you see a violently insane person, leave them and start looking for ambulance, so that when you get back they have killed someone or themselves. They don't restrain insane people in hospital? |

The video felt awkward--
Why tie her hands and not stuff her mouth (if he really wanted to use her for rituals).
Then the way she enunciated, 'ogun owoooo' sounded amiss, like she was telling a story. |

Remember the case of one man that slapped a nurse-- she was a very unassuming person. Guess the guys village people were actually tired of following him, so they wanted to treat his Bleep up finally. Anyway the unassuming nurse was the wife of the commissioner of police! What happened to the guy afterwards can best be imagined and not experienced! Abroad you are even not allowed to verbally abuse, how much more physically abuse. Nigerians just have small clout and because they are "paying'' you automatically have to bend over for them. My rule then was if you try to lay your hands on me, the kind beating you will get... when craze no dey worry you! last last, I will lose my job. |

dumodust: I have worked in Nigeria and abroad, I have never used this... People that do nothing complain the most A whole unit failed to cannulate a patient in the uk and the procedure was canceled, no machine like this turned up Setting up iv cannula is an art People that have seen what obtains outside the country don't make as much noise as the 'local' know-it-alls that can afford to slap a nurse because she was looking for a vein! Which technology, how many hospitals use it?!
I know a woman who was pricked 24 times (in the US) before they got her line (anesthesiologist included).
The doctor that saw her in Naija, when she had Tonsillitis, pricked her once!

mikegb: That should tell you it was fixed. He received more good hands from Klitschko than this bag of beans and he still saw the game through. Try and watch the last fight the bag of beans fought or his fight with Parker. Bag of beans would hound you down in the ring-- you will keep fighting backwards. Just imagine Golovkin following you everywhere you go...but with footwork and hand speed! Joshua has never been on the back foot before and when he got mauled he didn't know what to do! Those overhead shots that hit him almost killed him! Jab, Baba no Sabi, hold opponent when he wan kill you , Baba no Sabi! His deficiencies were so obvious. About Klitschko, Klitschko didn't beat him like this, or he would have been brain damaged! He knocked him down once and the rest, they were just dancing up and down till he was knocked out too. And Klitschko had lost his edge, a prime Klitschko would have killed him. Joshua cannot take a punch, he rocked Ruiz in the 7th and immediately the guy countered and knocked him out! By the way, you should watch when James Toney fought as a heavyweight... He was fat, but he was fast, OMG... beat Holyfield like he stole iPhone in computer village! |

oluwasegun007: Aj just fvk up....
This guy suppose dey ICU by now with swollen mouth... Chai Have you checked his record? Amateur record of 105-5! Started boxing at 6. And you have to admit he has skills-- he can move and can take a punch. I love a heavy weight with skills! Reminds me of Toney. AJ however started boxing at 18... Has no head movement, no footwork, can't take a punch and above all lacked/lacks what should have won him that match-- a jab! A 6, 6" fighter against someone 4 inches shorterr and he decides to get into the pocket with him? Lennox Lewis or Klitschko would have killed him with a jab, jab him all day long! If AJ likes he should fight him another 5 times, except he can correct these things (unfortunately he can't do anything about his glass jaw), Andy Ruiz will dance around him and beat him like a child. |

zakir007: For those of you talking rubbish about passion why do you think the US government spends a lot on their soldiers, pay special attention to their welfare and allowance and even budget huge sums for research in their military hospitals? Why do you think they are always willing to stay on the battle field even in the face of death? Coz they know the government's got Their back if they die. They will take care of their families, to some extent. Without adequate welfare what do you think will happen to your passion? Before you join the US military you'll be adequately intimated on all the welfare packages. They will advertise the military and what you're to gain even better than some private firm in Nigeria that will keep you in the dark with regards to salary. Possibly better than all the private firms...! |

Health › Re: Nigerian Doctor Saves ‘dying Man’ On Azman Airline Flight [PHOTOS] by HBB1(m): 11:41pm On May 26, 2019 |
passion007: That would be a peri arrest situation, and the protocol would be an A to E assessment. The first responder's first job is to assess breathing and pulse for 10 seconds to confirm any signs of life. If there are no signs of life, then CPR. If there are signs of life, then ABCDE. What if the patient had taken his anti-diabetic meds that morning and didn't get around to have a proper meal because of waiting too long at the airport. Approach the situation as a medical emergency and you'll pick up on the cause. Approach it as a cardiac arrest and you won't. In summary, no you can't start CPR on someone with a pulse, because they are alive. Think about it... It seems counterintuitive to pump the heart to work when you have evidence that it's working. If there was no palpable pulse, then CPR is in order. I think the Doctor did a quick check (ABCD) and found him to be unconscious, with a feeble, irregular pulse, which was getting weaker. What ABCDE again, on a plane, no monitors, no ECGs, just some air hostesses in short skirts?! In a deteriorating, unresponsive person, it's advised you do Chest compressions, if you don't know what else to do. What's the worst case scenario? I believe in symptomatic bradycardia, you have to pace the heart while you gather what you need-- asystole is just moments away. I have seen people die that way. But I accept you are right, so long we don't argue, as it will be dumb for us to do! |
Health › Re: Nigerian Doctor Saves ‘dying Man’ On Azman Airline Flight [PHOTOS] by HBB1(m): 8:55pm On May 26, 2019 |
passion007: My only concern is that CPR was started on someone who actually had a pulse to begin with!! Was he trying to restart a functioning heart?? The whole drama of starting resuscitation was unnecessary at the point in time. The indication to start CPR is absence of a pulse or breathing effort, not to buy time. What would have been more appropriate is an ABCDE assessment.
Having said that, well done Dr King for your bravery and I hope this calls government's attention to the appalling lack of any emergency services in the country. I could be wrong, but I believe you can start CPR on someone whose pulse is dropping? |

"Diazepam is not necessary!" "He should have done this!" He should have done that!" All of them are the same jare! He brought it on himself... Many have resuscitated people on airplanes and no one heard about it. In saner climes, if the man died and the Doctor's judgement was suspect, he would be sanctioned. That intramuscular diazepam was useless in that situation.
