UmmTwins2: Cc helovesme Cc Mamas pls helep put mouth o Ma'am zaynie so how do I recognize d convertible remember I buying pre-owned so there won't be any "packaging" the convertible is for what baby weight range, pls? E ku gbogbo igba wa Mamas buying baby hugg diapers, why e con scarce like that? i've searched everywhere but was able to get only d midi, no mini n it was only that one store that had it. Dn't know what other brand to buy sef with all these recent reviews abt molfix, pampers n Co. My son uses pampers premium care but I need a good, cheaper one for lil bun's early days I can only share my opinion/experience on car seats based on the ones I have used so far. I have used two so far - the first was used from birth till 12 months and the second from 12 months till date. None of them required a car seat base. My understanding is that the rear facing car seat is best for babies for at least their first year. The one I got for my son came as part of a buggy set of 3. I could easily fit it as a buggy to push around. I will suggest you go for a reputable brand and you can read user reviews on different car seats on websites like Amazon before you buy it. This is what I always do before buying a product. For toddler car seat, attached is the picture and link I'm currently using for my son. It is the "isofix" type so check if your car supports it. The reasons why I went for this particular car seat is that I can use it till my child is 36kg (10 - 12 years old), it has a recline function so child can sleep comfortably, many safety features, retractable outlet for food/bottle and the cloth is removable/washable. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B016224XHU/ref=pd_aw_sim_75_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=ECCNJKSMEMY5HJ5A2CY2&dpPl=1&dpID=81gJZo20qxLMy recommendations: 1. Read reviews before buying any car seat. 2. Cheap isn't always the best. Invest in a car seat that comes with adequate safety features and one that is durable. 3. Fit the car seat in your car before paying to make sure it's compatible with your car. Some car seats only support ISOFIX compatible cars. Some car seats work well with either ISOFIX fitted cars or the three point seat belt 4. Car seats can sometimes be a pain to adjust/fix. So be prepared.

Cc To add to my previous post. Ask the doctor to check for tonsillitis. It's fairly common in babies and one of the symptoms is that babies experience pain when swallowing milk or liquid. The pain and discomfort from swallowing is the reason why they are cranky, upset and they refuse breast milk. |

porsche2014: Hi everyone, I had my baby last week friday and am a ftm. It was a safe delivery and baby is doing very well. Please i want to know the drugs i will be giving to my baby girl. i understand that new borns need drugs and supplements to help keep them healthy and fight diseases. Please tell me. Your baby girl needs no drugs. Supplements like multivitamin (if necessary) should only be introduced after 6 months. Antibiotics is a no-no. It will only end up weakening her immune system and make her body build resistance to antibiotics in time of actual sickness. If you want your baby to remain healthy, then ensure you maintain excellent personal hygiene. Wash and sterilise all her bottles, etc after every use. Do not expose her to cold and especially mosquitoes. Make sure your house/bedroom where she sleeps is neat, tidy and swept regularly. Make sure any water you give her is boiled throughly (whether bottled or sachet water). As a mum make sure you feed very well. Eat a balanced diet which includes fruits and vegetables as she will be getting all the nutrients and vitamins she needs from you via breast milk. If you decide to supplement with formula, then go for a pocket friendly reputable brand. Change her diapers when due to avoid nappy rash. Apply Vaseline on her bum after each nappy change. Do not over dress her with many layers of clothing as this could lead to skin rash. |

lululuv: Just read about the circumcision tin, there was no ring, I believe d ring type needs no dressing, you just wait for d ring to fall off. Am just so pissed with this. And tomorrow is sat, don't know if we will see the doc on Sat.
Cc. helovesme Yes the ring method requires no dressing. However, I have noticed that different doctors give different instructions regarding after care for circumcised boys irrespective of the type of circumcision done. So it's best to stick to the instruction given by the doctor who carried out the circumcision. For example, my son had the ring method done. The only instruction I was given was to mix salt and luke warm water in a bowl and insert him in it (waist down) morning and evening for one week. I was also asked to apply Vaseline on the circumcised area and his diaper at every nappy change. That's all. There was nothing like a prescription for penicillin or any meds. By day 5 or so, the ring fell off. Don't be pissed. We learn everyday. At least now you know what circumcision method to go for next time. |

Sounds like it's the ring method. It usually falls off within a week. Max two weeks. So take him back to the hospital as the doctor has instructed you. |

Was using vasVaseline on it since den till now, please don't jump And pass. What do we do? What type of circumcision was done? The modern ring method or the traditional method? If it's the traditional method and you have any concerns, I will suggest you take him back to the hospital where it was done and seek the doctor's opinion. Do not attempt to pull out the stitches yourself. Keep using Vaseline though. It helps the area to heal and prevent skin friction with his diaper. |

Hyphee: Really? No ice? It was even the pead that advised I put ice so that the swelling will go down, it is well o. I took her to the hospital cos of the pain and hardness, they had to do ultrasound of her thigh and they said everything is fine that with time the hardness will disappear but until now, it hasn't. The person that administered her 6 weeks was different from the 10 weeks own and still the same thing happened, that's why I'm worried. Thanks so much for your response, I really appreciate. NO ICE AGAIN Liftedhands is right. Never touch or rub or apply ice on the injection area. That was the instruction I was given at the hospital. During bath time, do not do anything to the injection area. Do not massage with hot or warm or cold water. Just bath her as normal. Do not also check after a few days to see if the area is "hard". If it's swollen, it will be very visible to the eyes. A little swelling is normal but if it's really swollen or there's a discharge of pus, then take your child to the hospital. Try this method this time (no touching, no massaging or ice) and see if it works. Give your baby paracetamol a few hours before she's immunised. Do not allow the nurse rub the injection area after administering the vaccine. All she is to do is apply a small plaster over the injection site (the plaster usually falls off on its own within a day). Finally, if the swollen, pain and discomfort from the previous injection sites persists, then take her to another hospital to seek a second opinion. She might actually need mild antibiotics or a topical cream to apply on the injection area to get rid of the swelling and discomfort. P.S. If I was in your shoes, I will take the child to a different hospital to get her followup immunisation. I won't be comfortable with the fact that it took weeks for the child to recover from the previous injections. Some unscrupulous hospitals are known to store the vaccines wrongly or administer expired vaccines. |

That she knows of 2other babies that have reacted to it. Hubby said he want it for his baby. I want SMA gold that I can easily see here. I did combination feeding and I introduced aptamil when my child was around 3 weeks and stopped at 13 months when I introduced cow milk. I had absolutely no issues with it. Like alphahandmaiden has posted it's possible the rash was due to something else or the milk was fake. |

Akorkor: I have been hearing Don't clean their ear for sometimes now but if you obviously see a big dirt , what should we do? Leave it? Clean it? Or allow it to block the ear. Please shed more light because am not understanding See a big dirt where? It is impossible to see the inside of an ear (ear drum) without specialist instrument. If there's any ear wax that has pushed out to the outer ear, simply use a flannel or soft face towel and wipe the outer ear. Check your pack of q-tips/cotton buds. The instructions on it are clear - do not insert in the ear. If you are concerned about ear wax then take the child to the hospital. http://m.kidshealth.org/en/parents/eardrums.html?WT.ac=

jazzyjazz: Abeg make Una no vex o My ds has 2 teeth now When do I start cleaning or brushing it for him? Do I need to buy baby toothpaste? Do I need to buy baby toothbrush. Yes. Use toothbrush and toothpaste right from when the first tooth springs out. Please stop cleaning your baby's ears. It's just too risky. Q-tips/cotton buds should NEVER be inserted into a child's ear. The risk to damaging or rupturing the ear drum is high. There is also the risk of an ear infection A baby's ear is self cleansing. No paediatrician (I'm not talking doctors/general practitioners masking as paediatrician) will tell you it's okay to clean inside a baby's ear. It's a complete NO-NO. All you need is to clean the outer ear. This can easily be done using a fannel at bath time. |

Jaygrl: Hey mamas,I am thinking of just resigning from work to take care of my LO. I resumed back to work last week just as he turned 3months old. Before I resumed I introduced Nan because the breast milk I express won't be enough for him till I come back(we have not had power supply for like 1month 2weeks). I leave on the mainland and work on the island,I leave home say 5:40am with hubby so we have a nanny that takes care of my DS. I breastfeed him very well before leaving, some mornings he feels to sleepy to suck very well.
So to the issue now,I introduced feeding bottle to him like 1month before I resumed and he was taking it very well, just before I resumed he just stopped taking it. He doesn't take even the breast milk from spoon or bottles but he sucks breast very very well . So we resorted to forcing him even when he is crying to take the expressed milk/Nan via spoon. When he is very hungry,he takes say 60mls(then he starts crying, coughing so loud and sometimes ends up throwing up). This is what happens every single day since I started work,he seems to have lost so much weight. I come back say past 6pm as I close by 4pm for now.
So i came back earlier than normal yesterday,I opened the door with my key. The state I saw my son just made me breakdown, his clothes and bib was very wet,his eyes were red and teary. He just finished his milk of not even up to 60mls,for his cloth to be wet most likely he was pouring out the milk as he was been fed.
So I am wondering, for how long will we continue force feeding my 3months plus son when all he just wants is breastmilk directly from the breast itself at least for now. I actually plan quitting my job say October while I try to get a place close home, maybe I should resign by the end of this month and come take care of my DS before I lose him(he cries every time he is being fed till I come back home in the evening).
Sorry for the epistle,I am a first time mum and I am so confused at the moment. I love my son sooo much and I feel so guilty seeing him pass through this. Mum and mum in law thinks he will adjust but this is almost 2weeks now and he is even getting worse as he gets so angry at been fed with spoon. Mamas advice me oooooo Try a different bottle/teat. Boil the new teat in water for about five minutes to further soften it. If that doesn't work, it's possible he's tired of NAN. try another milk brand like aptamil or any other reputable brand. Why not have him stay in a reputable crèche ? I won't really trust a maid/housegirl with a child that young. |

Her mum had her when she was around 42 (she wasn't the only child though) but for this reason her mum seriously attacked anyone that called her fat or adviced her to watch her baby's weight. Today my cousin is all grown up, a graduate and seriously battling with obesity. The last time I saw her, she was about UK size 26 and I couldn't even see her neck. Everybody in the extended family keeps laying the blame on the parents and saying "shebi" when they told them the baby had the tendency to be obese, they were being attacked, now look at their daughter. |

AbbynHummy: Since my baby started this Tom brown, her poop is new extremely so strong, sometimes it comes out like stone, i give her water before and after every feed, though sometimes she hardly drinks after feeding.also, She take 120ml of the Tom brown 2-3 times a day, i think its too small, the highest she has eaten is 150ml, dunno how to increase her appetite, also heard that i should give her vitamin D now DAT she has started semi-solid. You need to introduce varied puréed meals to your baby's diet. Tom brown thrice a day is too much. You are basically feeding her just carbs hence the strong poop. You need to introduce vegetables(carrots, green peas, red ball peppers, etc), fruits (bananas, apples, etc) protein (chicken, fish, beef),less complex and more beneficial foods that aid in brain development like sweet potatoes. Several recipes have been shared here and you can have a look at alphahandmaiden's blog. There's really no need for the specific vitamin D supplement. If you want to introduce a supplement then go for one that has other vitamins and calcium all included (multivitamin). |

I'd def try the tepid sponge tingy (after I google it ) don't want her getting too hot. Did you note the time you administered the first dose of paracetamol? You should have been told at the hospital to administer the paracetamol every 4 or 6 hours. Check the instructions on the leaflet and administer another dose based on the instructions. High temperature in babies should be taken very seriously and anything should be done to avoid it. |
