FarahAideed:The speed limit on that road should be no more than 50kmh. |
Divie Please allow him to sit if he wants to. Just make sure he’s in a safe area and well propped with pillows so that he doesn’t fall forward or sideways. Lol @ hunch back. That’s not going to happen |
Ammy5565:No @ finger brush. Get a proper toothbrush for kids his age as well as an age appropriate toothpaste. You can’t get him to gargle which is why you must never ever use an adult toothpaste for him because of the high fluoride content. Kiddies toothpaste have lower concentration of fluoride and all you need is a smear on his toothbrush. Attached is the picture of the toothpaste I use.

Funmi Iyanda was Seun odegbami’s (former shooting stars football legend) “live in lover”/mistress for many years. He was financially responsible for her success during her time with NTA many years ago. She’s actually his babymama as they both have a daughter together. |
kelizosuy:The best way of detoxifying the body is to do it naturally - using fruits. I think it’s best you wait till your child crosses 6 months and then you can do a fruit/veggie fast for a few days. Drinking lots and lots of water (especially first thing in the morning before you brush or have any meal) as well as reducing sugar intake and having fruits or vegetables or both at least once a day also helps. |
zaynie:Chai. Zaynie. ![]() I’m very cool oh. I be learner beside dunni29 and Hunniesuzie ![]() I just don’t like children being maltreated or parents/elders being irresponsible towards innocent kids. Thanks for the kind wishes. I see what you’ve been up to. God bless you. Amen. Happy belated birthday wishes to Atinuke. I will send you a PM once I get around to sorting out the login details for my profile email add (I can’t remember the password) ![]() |
hunniesuzie: ![]() I will also express my displeasure/shock on the spot. ![]() |
kelizosuy:Pele. Reminds me of when I would drink cups and cups of Ribena despite repeated warnings from my mum to stop as I was breastfeeding and she claimed I was passing on the sugar to my baby. On a particular day,my son pooed (rather watery) and she came to where I was relaxing, dropped the stained diaper on my laps and she told me to see/relish in my handiwork. That was the last time I drank Ribena (I resumed after he crossed 6 months sha). Watch what you eat. If the poo continues, you can give him homemade salt and sugar solution (3-4 spoons should do). If the stooling gets to number 5,you might have to take him to the hospital. |
jazzyjazz:Very well done. ![]() Nice golden brown colour. Try banana bread/cake next time using very ripe bananas without sugar (if you intend giving your child) or with little sugar if it’s yourself and a child older than 12months. It’s very easy to prepare and you do not need a mixer. Check www.sisijemimah.com for her banana bread recipe. |
olorimorenike:I personally think you have a big issue on your hands to resolve. It seems her family were looking for where she can stay and be looked after and stylishly used the excuse of “helping you out as a new mum” to bring her in. Does she have a personal carer/maid looking after her or is that responsibility all on you ? I will suggest you try as possible not to leave her alone with your baby and you must be very vigilant. That said, you need to really relax, be happy and try to put all stress and worries behind you as this will help your milk flow. If you are stressed, tensed and unhappy, your baby can feel the negative vibes. Some women (like myself) do not have much luck with expressing milk but with baby sucking the breast directly, milk flows very well. I will suggest you feed your baby with formula and after she’s fed, put her on your breast and have her suck. It’s best done when you are sitting upright with pillows at your back and under your arms for support. Do this after every single feed as it will help her to master the art of sucking and she will also be used to the texture of your tips. Take a lot of hot drinks/meals (tea, oats, semo) and massage your breast with fairly hot water. Make sure you have her bottles, preboiled water, formula, etc ready and look out for signs that she’s ready for another meal. That way, she won’t be left hungry and wailing for the next bottle of milk. You can try making a note of the quantity of milk she’s had as well as the time as this will give you a good idea of her feeding pattern and you can estimate roughly when she’s due for her next bottle of milk. It took me almost a month to get my son to breast feed properly and also establish my milk flow. I went on to breastfeed him for over a year and I literally had to force him to give up breastfeeding. So do not worry. This is a phase that will pass. |
Bossjosh:I’m also very surprised at the rather shabby funeral. I would have expected very senior members of the armed forces in attendance. I guess he must have stepped on many toes and offended a lot of people. |
Dunni29:Lmaoooooo I don’t blame you for lashing out considering the fact that you’ve warned her several times not to do it. I’m all for respecting elders but sometimes they need to be spoken to for them to get the message. This breastfeeding/formula issue is always a sore topic between new mums and their mothers but most especially their mother in law. Did you ask your mum her reasons for breastfeeding your kids? I just don’t understand why it’s done. |
babythug:Hahahhahahhahaahhah. Chai. Babythug. ![]() @ last line |
Olorimorenike Dry your tears. How long is grand ma (mother in law) staying? How close are you to her? Do you two gist, watch TV together? Did you tell your husband about what she did? What was his reaction/response? |
hunniesuzie:Lmao @ bolded. ![]() I couldn’t help laughing when I saw the conclusion of your post ![]() What would you have done? Raked for grand Ma? ![]() |
lightedpath:What are you using to administer the drugs? Spoon or syringe? You should get a syringe (see attached pictures). You can get one either inside the pack of foreign drugs such as calpol or you can buy one (ask for a 5ml syringe) from a pharmacy (you do not need a needle). Using a syringe to give a child a drug is a lot easier. You carry your child on your laps, hold down her hand and then ‘inject’ the drug into the left or right side of her cheeks. You have to be patient and do it slowly. This means you object say 1ml or 0.5ml, pause for a few minutes and keep ‘injecting’ in little amounts until the syringe is empty. Remember the drugs goes to the side of her cheeks and not the back of her throat or directly on her tongue and you have to be patient. Very little quantity at a time. This means she won’t vomit or choke on the drug.

Pheesayor and feddy27 Happy belated birthday to your beautiful princesses. I saw the pictures on the day you posted them but I was unable to post my comment at the time. |
Jina24:You are welcome sis. I never knew it existed too until I was told by the paediatrician. Now, it’s a must have in my first aid kit and I take it along with me during long trips. I hope she must better now. |
Ayofaks:she wasn't 'promoting' demi williams. demi was working for her. ladies had the choice to either book banke herself or demi or annabel depending on the bride's budget/preference. in this social media showoff era, a bride expects to be have her face showcased on the BM pro IG page. so what happens is that demi tags banke/bmpro in every picture posted on her page (before she started her own business). sometimes, banke reposts the same picture and gives credit to demi or annabel - which is expected as it will be wrong for banke to claim to have done the makeup for a customer which she had clearly not. she usually ends the post with '#makeupbydemi' or #makeupbyannabel' i have had my makeup done by both of them and i understand how their booking process work.fees are paid directly to banke's company account and demi herself is strict/no-nonsense. if you have booked/paid for 2 people, there is nothing that you will say to convince her to do the makeup for your friend or acquaintance on the day. if you have a wedding to attend by say 10am, demi can showup at the given address by 5am with her full makeup kit, camera, portable music speakers and she starts her work. by 7am she is done and she is off. demi brought many clients to banke as her job is wayyyyyyy better than than of banke. as a matter of fact, her facebeat actuallly looks better in real life than pictures. the face time I had my makeup done by demi, I couldn't help but wonder what she was doing working under someone and a lot of ladies that have had their makeup done by demi share the same opinion. i feel she is just upset that demi has moved on to start her on business and she is already having a lot of clients. the 28million naira might be an allegation of a theft of 'products' (foundation, lipstick, etc) or she feels that demi began booking clients under demi's brand whilst still working her notice period with banke. banke is well connected to rich/wealthy clients. it appears she has used that influence to have the case transferred from lagos to abuja because last i checked, both ladies are based in lagos and operate from her lagos office. so what's the Abuja connection ![]() |
cococandy:Yes, you do. ![]() The coco Chanel mademoiselle velvet oil is proof. black women do not buy such. ![]() Perfume and body lotion from the same luxury label - yes. But body oil ? Mba. ![]() |
Cococandy You are a real product junkie ![]() After becoming a mum, I just had to simplify my beauty routine. Pre-motherhood, I would shave my legs literally every week and also shave my arms. I will then use a body scrub with an exfoliating glove sponge to scrub my entire body. I will then run the bath and soak myself in. Chai. I miss those days ![]() Now, ain't got time for any drama. It's a quick shower using Dove exfoliating soap with exfoliating glove sponge and I apply neutrogena skin lotion. When I get bored with neutrogena, I use either a product from body shop (I love their honeymania or coconut with almond milk body butter) or Nivea. Facial scrub and cleanser (when I remember) is from the clearasil range. Face primer and brow pencil - marykay Liquid foundation and powder - MAC Lipstick - MAC (diva and rebel are my favourites) mascara - covergirl Concealer (when I feel like it) - nars Babythug - thanks for the mention |
hunniesuzie:I didn't know too that ibruofen for children exists until I was given a bottle by the doctor at 4 months (if I remember the age correctly) to administer just in case my child ran a fever after the meningitis immunisation. I also agree with you that with certain fevers, paracetamol doesn't work. Now that my son is two, I sometimes skip the paracetamol and just administer the neurofen first to bring any temperature down and then give him subsequent doses of paracetamol every 4 hours until I take him to the hospital. The first time I experienced fever with my son, i gave him paracetamol and when I saw he wasn't getting any better after 4 hours I took him to the hospital. On getting to the hospital, the triage nurse checked his temperature and asked the last time I gave him paracetamol- I told her. Immediately she went to get a bottle of ibruofen and she gave him the appropriate dosage. I asked her why she was giving him ibruofen when we are going to see the paediatrician anyway and she explained to me how deadly fever is in children and that the time it will take her to pass to my son's medical file to the paediatrician (for example 5 mins) is enough for the child to have a seizure/convulsion. I saw the paediatrician and I asked further questions. He said the first thing they do at the hospital is to bring down the fever and once that's sorted, then checks and tests can be done to find out the underlying cause of the fever (maybe an infection such as a viral cold, tonsillitis , scarlet fever, etc). He also told me in future to never to leave the house for the hospital with a child with a high fever and that I should make sure I administer ibruofen first. He explained that the child could easily have a seizure in the car on the way to the hospital and that the higher the fever, the more difficult it becomes to get it down. So a mom needs to be a very proactive from the very first signs of a developing fever. He also explained to me how to use paracetamol and ibruofen interchangeably. |
Julyborn:Ideally all drugs should be taken with meals. No matter how small the food is - even if its milk or a slice of toast. Which is why a mum shouldn't wait until when a child is refusing absolutely all meals before taking the child to the hospital. |
That's a picture of the drug. There are other brands available. Just make sure it's the liquid ibruofen for babies. Cc. Enque Other mums

hunniesuzie:my dear, i have just been shaking my head on all the things i have been reading. if I say what's on my mind, they will say I have come again. Giddyperson please take your baby to the hospital ASAP. sepsis is a life threatening condition that needs to be taken seriously and treated urgently. I am surprised the hospital sent you home. they should have kept you at the hospital for at least 24 hours to monitor your baby. enque please next time, give your child 'baby ibruofen;. (neurofen) it brings the fever down in record time compared to paracetamol and it avoids situations such as convulsion/seizures. as soon as the fever reduces, then take the child to the hospital. cc. all mums always have a bottle of baby ibruofen (neurofen) in your first aid kit. fever in children should never be taken lightly and can be due to so many reasons such as immunisation and infection. once the fever is hovering 37-38degrees and paracetamol isn't working, please use neurofen. neurofen will bring down the temperature hence preventing a seizure/convulsion (I am speaking from personal experience and also advice I received from experienced health professionals) it is an over the counter medication that can be used for babies from 3 months. it can actually be used interchangeably with paracetamol (every 4 hours) for kids older than 12 months. for kids below 12months with any symptoms of illness, take them to the hospital that same day - worst case scenario, first thing in the morning. older than 12 months - monitor for 12 hours (max 24 hours) and then take them to the hospital. with children, the earlier they are treated, the better as things can go from bad to worse very quickly. |
Mzleemah:Interest rates for these accounts are disappointingly low. Even lower than the current rate of inflation ![]() Why not consider mutual funds or the recently introduced FGN savings bond? https://www.dmo.gov.ng/fgn-bonds/savings-bond/2169-september-2017-fgn-savings-bond-offer-for-subscription/file With these two products you are looking at interest rate of around 13%-14% compared to the 2-3% you will receive with a savings account. I have previously discussed mutual funds on this thread. For the fgn bonds, there's a fixed tenure (minimum 2 years) and just like the mutual funds you can choose to reinvest the interest or have the interest paid into a back account. helovesme:

babythug:Babythug, Na wa for you Next time you are caught, he will drag you to your village head to explain yourself. ![]() This issue was discussed during my premarital counselling sessions. According to my Reverend, it's wrong and it's basically stealing from one's spouse. Trust relating to financial issues in a marriage is important. That said, do you know how many times he must really have overstretched himself just to meet your demands and you expect him to be "lighthearted" after finding out that you inflated the sums just to get extra cash from him? ![]() Maybe involving a third party was a step too far but then we all react to issues differently. If you need extra, just ask/explain/beg. ![]() Oya, go and sin no more. |
Mzleemah:What formula do you feed her with ? Reduce the scoops by 1. For example, if you use 5 scoops for 120ml, reduce it to 4. Also make sure the water you give her during the day is warm. |
Julyborn:vaccine schedule differs according to hospital/region. your hospital/clinic should have given you a card/booklet containing a schedule of the vaccines your child should get at a certain age. once a vaccine is administered, it is usually ticked off on the card/booklet. that said, at 12 months, my son got the following: -Pneumococcal PCV vaccine, third dose -Men B vaccine, third dose -Hib/Men C vaccine, (single jab containing vaccines against meningitis C which is the first dose) and Hib which is the fourth dose) -Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine - all given as a single jab |
jazzyjazz:aww. they don't stock it then. |
KayVutton:i am not going to debate or argue this with you. I do not know what country you live in but where I reside, paracetamol is COMPULSORY before immunisation - especially the jabs for meningitis. you are actually given a free prescription of paracetamol during your 6weeks postnatal check by the doctor and told clearly to ensure it is given to the child before coming to the hospital for the jabs. in my own case, I totally forgot to administer and the first question I was asked (even before I was shown the name of the vaccine, the production date and expiry date) was if I had given my child paracetamol and at what time. I replied that I forgot and the nurse wasn't pleased. she actually got out a bottle of paracetamol/syringe and gave my child the paracetamol and waited for like 20mins before she gave him jabs. these vaccines are not imported from India but made by healthcare companies located within the country so I am sure they work hand in hand with the health regulators to determine which drugs affect the efficiency of the vaccines. different countries, different rules, different standard of healthcare, different protocol. in summary, do whatever your health professional tells you to do. |
jazzyjazz:include the baby shampoo too. its very good. that's what I am using currently for my son. |

they will call family meeting on our head by the time I am through
