myrygurl: Someone dropped a question on a public forum for an open opinion. Am not giving advice I repeat am not giving advice its just my own opinion and I see nothing wrong with it. Its not as if am prescribing a medication or something. Its left for the one asked for the opinion to pick whichever his ok with.
All those stuffs you mentioned your kids do is something a child of that age should do. It all depends if the mum dedicates her time for that. If its socialising i wouldn't agree less. It is 'stuff' and not 'stuffs'. This is one of the reasons why enrolling a child in a school at an early age is encouraged. |

Ajakaiye83: Dear Folks,
What do you think is wrong? My baby is three months old but her neck is not stable. It stays brief then flip sideways.
Kindly help out with suggestions on drugs and therapy to use
Thanks RELAX !!!! Some babies especially boys do not achieve stable neck control till when they are around 4 months ago. Some even 5-6months. So relax and stop worrying about his neck control. What you should worry about his your baby's weight. You need to take him for regular weight checks to ensure he is adding on weight accordingly. A birth weight of 2.4kg is considered low and if he is not putting on weight in line with expectation, you might need to introduce formula to help with his weight gain as breastmilk alone is clearly not meeting his needs. |

charliboy654: This is more than foreign assistant, the Nigerian army has some serious moles working for Boko Haram, until those moles and the sponsors of Boko Haram are captured nothing can be done. I agree. This video is proof that the Nigerian army is completely infiltrated with moles. Someone must have fed them enough intel to launch such brazen attack. The video left me shaken and speechless. |

Haryanphe: Wow. I never thought of this. That's a great possibility. Thank you for opening my eyes ma If you give her the 'designer ogi' that's being paraded around these days , I won't be surprised if that is the culprit. most of these 'designer ogi' contain groundnuts, crayfish, soya beans and all sorts without any consideration for allergies in the baby/child. parents should educate themselves on allergies as some allergic reactions can be very fatal. for example, some kids react to nuts and this includes even coconut based products such as coconut oil that is used for the skin |

I noticed that since I weaned my daughter, it's been from one rashes to another, we would used drugs and it will disappear only to appear again. We have used all sort (Agnesia, rising raving, tetmosol soap, Angy yo-yo, ABF, cacatin e. t. c) both prescribed and u prescribed. Am even tired, please help out.
PS: She is almost 17 months she might have an undiagnosed food allergy. remove all dairy based products (including eggs) as well as any food containing nuts completely from her diet for 8 weeks and see if there is any improvement. she can get her protein from other sources such as chicken and beef. another food group that might be responsible is seafood (fish, prawns, crayfish, etc). some children are allergic to seafood. |

Ubiero: Dear Sabi Mamas,
I have called a physio and he asked me to come with my baby so he can see the leg. Though he mentioned that they don't really do much until a baby is around a year old.
Will give updates as we go.
Thank you all. I do not think the advice from the physiotherapist is the best. Waiting till a child is a year old is rather too long. bone related injuries heal very quickly in babies, so the earlier the problem is diagnosed/rectified, the better. if there is pain/discomfort/swelling, it might actually be a fracture (tiny bone fractures occur in babies) and he might need a leg x-ray to determine the nature of the fracture and if he needs a cast. i think you should take your baby immediately to a doctor/paediatrician, who would most likely recommend an x-ray. the x-ray is then reviewed by a radiologist before it is then referred back to the doctor or orthopaedist. consultation with a physiotherapist is further down the chain of events and may not even be required at all. its possible your chain is in pain and might require pain relief but then again, that will be determined by the doctor. |

Kittana: Please, I reeeaaally need to know. How long do these bouts of diarrhea last? What more would a doc do for watery stools? Is there a chance that they'll administer a drip set or something, other than the usual Ors..zinc...floranorm...piccan....? Again, I keep reading that teething has nothing to do with diarrhea, so all this watery stool and vomiting is really driving me crazy....My Zara has seven teeth already and I didn't even know how they came about, so what kind of teeth is she trying to have now that's giving me all this wahala. Please I really need to know how long this condition is supposed to last for (if anyone has had any such experience ) before taking the fight to the doc. We've been on the matter for five days now ! Watery stool (diarrhoea) and vomiting for 5 days? Madam stop the self medication and take your child to the hospital ASAP !!! Diarrhoea and vomiting has absolutely nothing to do with teething. |

nadesh: He breathes with his nose, mouth shut very normal without any struggles . OK ma, I will stop the silverbird steam bath but can I continue with the nasal drops and vitamin C? My heart breaks and flutters when I hear that wheezing sound from his chest. Am just scared. Thank you ma, I will rewatch all his bed sheets tonite Nasal drops are literally saline solution (that is, salt and water). All they do is “rinse out” the nostrils to get rid of any dust/particles and also keep the nostrils moist. Since there’s no catarrah, you can stop using it. You can continue with the vitamin C. Wheezing in babies should be taken seriously. I will suggest you take him to the hospital ASAP. |

nadesh: Pls mamas, my 3+ months old breathes loudly as if catarrh blocked his nose. I do steam bathing with silver bird, put silver bird on his bibs and bought nasal drops today. His loud breathing have not stopped but there is no catarrh coming out from his nose. My neighbour said I should suck out the catarrh but am wondering if it's ok to suck on a dry nose? Am giving him vit C too. This breathing issue started three days ago. He eats and plays fine and don't seem disturbed. Helovesme Since there’s no catarrah, stop using the silver bird. Does he breathe with his mouth open or shut? If there’s no catarrh, then there’s nothing to suck/no need for sucking. I had similar experience (but at 6weeks) and I felt my baby sounded snotty and congested. I was told by the doctor that it was normal. I will suggest you make sure his room is well ventilated and do not expose him to dust. Also change/wash his beddings (bedsheet, shawl, etc) just incase there are dust particles that he might be inhaling. If after trying all these and there’s no improvement, then take him to the hospital. If his breathing sounds really laboured (that is, he’s struggling to breathe), take him to the hospital ASAP. |

spiceeamiee: Good morning. I am not in Lagos right now and my baby's Gerber cereal finished two days ago. She has only been taking Tombrown and oatmeal but the babe sef don tire. I went searching for cereals and all I found were 6months and above. She will be 6months in a week's time, can I buy one of the cereals and start giving her now cos i tried to feed her Tombrown this morning and she refused to take it. No light here sef to puree anything so our options are very limited.
Also suggestions for creamy porridge (those cereals that you only add water, no need to add milk) will be highly welcome. you can give her cereals for babies aged 6months and above. Its not like you have much choice anyway since she is tired of the posh ogi called tombrown and oatmeal. cow & gate as well as aptamil have different varieties of creamy porridge that requires no milk. |

goodfortun: Compliments of the season mums. I have some creche related questions. 1. What is the appropriate wear for creche for a 4months old? Is bodysuit okay? Or regular shorts and shirts i.e. outing clothes? How many changes of clothes should be packed?
2. How many feeding bottles can I pack? Since they'll make the formula when he needs it? Right now we do 150ml formula after morning bath then breastfeeding through out the day on demand .. how many formula feeding do I pack until 5pm?
3. I sterilize using Milton tablet in a bucket of water; how can dat work with creche? Except I remove the bottles from the water and keep unsterilized in his diaper bag?
P.S. Still on the lookout for creche in aguda surulere area
Thanks! 1. it depends on the weather. at that age, a body suit will do or just normal indoor clothes (top and trousers). there should be a small storage box or peg at the crèche where you can leave spare clothes, bibs, etc behind in a bag. you can leave 'permanently' at the nursery about 3 bodysuits and maybe one complete outfit. 2. it depends on the crèche. some will suggest you leave two feeding bottles permanently with them (with your child's name labelled on it) as this saves you the hassle of bringing in bottles everyday and taking them back home everyday. the creche will wash/sterilise the bottle after each feed. it is their duty to do this as you are already paying for the service. if you choose not to leave bottles with them permanently, then 2-3 bottles is okay everyday - 1 for formula and the second for water. 3.again, the crèche should be the one to sort this out. you cannot be moving around with a bowl of sterilised water everyday. ask them their mode of sterilisation. a decent crèche should have a standard method of sterilising all feeding utensils for babies in their care (steam or microwave sterilisers or they might provide sterilising tablets). so just give them the clean bottles in the morning (that is if you choose to bring in bottles daily) and ask them to sterilise before use. |

Mahoti: okay ma thanksmidwife prescribed it A midwife is literally a nurse. She is not a doctor or a paediatrician. She has no business prescribing drugs to a child that young. Please go and see a doctor. A doctor will listen to your baby’s breathing and decide if the cough is chesty or if her nasal airway is congested. She might need to have all the mucus clogged up in her nose as a result of the catarrah extracted (nasal irrigation) and/or a mild course of antibiotics. |

They should just reopen Al-Capone’s former cell and keep the US Marine locked up there for life. |
