Of course. They deserve to be sacked.

They should go and read their employee handbook and see what it says about referring customers to non-bank approved financial products. It's instant dismissal.

Of all the various regulated financial products that exist in nigeria, its MMM they chose to refer naive customers to.

People working in financial services are supposed to know better and even advise customers against such schemes.

I read that you used collipan for your son. Please @Helovesme, how did you administer it. Dosage, I mean. Thank you.
I have never used Collipan and this is my first time of hearing about the drug.

The only drug I have used for colic and which I refered to in related posts is 'infacol'.

With infacol, I administer it before meals (bottle or breast feeding) and after or if it appears he's experiencing colic.

You can check online for the components of infacol and compare it to collipan. It might actually be similar just different brand name/manufacturer.

@ helovesme & AlphaHandMaiden, you ladies are my favourite posters on this thread. Your posts are always enlightening. Please keep it up.

Though I am done with child bearing but I learn a lot from your posts. I actually showed a colleague helovesme post on force feeding yesterday and she was shocked it could lead to the death of a baby cos she does same to her infant. Didn't even know that. She has vowed to stop.

You see, that tough love you displayed just saved a life.

Please ignore all negative comments and know that it's better a baby's life is saved even if it brings out the wrath and frustrations of a thousand women. grin

Health › Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by helovesme(f):
helovesme:
First of all, you need to STOP beating your baby. It is a very dangerous path to thread on in motherhood. She will still do many more things that will stress you out and annoy you as she grows older and evolves into a toddler/teenager. She will smash your phone on the floor (like my son did to my husband's phone), smash your laptop on the floor(like what my son did to my work laptop, scribble on your lovely white wall with crayons (my hallway needs a new coat of paint), etc. What are you going to do then? Strangle her to death?

Motherhood requires LOTS and LOTS of patience and anger management. If you think you are stressed, hand her over to someone else (e.g. Your husband) and go somewhere and cool off till you are in the right mood to deal with her.

Children thrive in an atmosphere of love. She can feel all the tension from you and all the negative vibes from you when it comes to meal time. So that's why you need to relax and completely change your strategy.

That said, most babies at 6 months do not eat 10 or 20 spoons of food. Most cases, 5 tea spoons at most and they are full. Don't forget that at that age, their stomach is still small and at that age, they still rely on milk (breast milk or formula or both). This is why weaning/transitioning a baby to solids is a gradual process. The fact that she's even taking a spoon or two means she's doing well for her age.

Before you feed her, you need to relax and be happy. Play with her. Sing. Compose all sort of songs for her. Laugh with her. Entertain her.

You also need to get her prepared for meal times. If you do not have a high chair, please go and buy one. You should also buy colourful plates and spoons for her. Sit her in the high chair and give her the empty plate and spoon to play with. She needs to know that's once she's sat in the high chair , then it's "yummy time" which means it's time for delicious food.

You can decide to do baby-led weaning (where you leave the food on the plate on the high chair table) and leave her to eat whatever she likes and make as much mess as possible or you feed her yourself.

Some meals are instant hit with babies. For example, ripe bananas. Get a really ripe banana, mash it really well and mix with water and formula till you have a paste and give her. While feeding her, move down to her level either by kneeling or sitting down and establish eye contact. Sing while feeding her, act like you are putting the food in your own and make interesting sounds like "yummy" "tasty". For every spoon she takes, make sure you sound very excited by screaming "yayyy", clapping and giving her a warm hug/kiss.

You must radiate positive vibes while feeding her. If after two or three spoons she's not interested, hug her, tell her she's a good girl for even eating at all and giver her toys to play with. Use the same technique at every meal time and see if she won't gradually increase the number of spoon she takes.

Never ever force her to eat or force food into her mouth while it's wide open just because she's crying. It can go disastrously wrong. It can lead to choking and even death.

You should also taste her food before you give her. Some baby foods (even the imported brands) are disgusting. If the food tastes like yuck, then there's every possibility that your daughter won't like it.

The same applies to formula. Different brands. Different tastes. Just the same way Peak milk tastes better than Cowbell milk. Look for brand she likes and stick to it. Some babies are just cut out to be high maintaineace. She might actually prefer a premium formula brand which will cost you more.

You need to be more experimental in the food you give her. Try all sorts till you find out what she likes. For example, puréed SWEET POTATOES is well loved by babies. It must be puréed to a fine paste with no bit and pieces. Add a dash of sunflower oil or a little butter and give it to her. Prepared Wheat is also another favourite with babies. It must be really really soft before you give it to her. Same with amala. Blend ewedu leaves with boiled deboned macreal fish, boil the mixture, allow it to cool down and give it to her with wheat/amala.

You said she drinks water a lot during meal time. Do you give her water often during the day and not wait till meal time? If not, then you should do so. If you leave her thirsty till meal time, then all she will be focused on is just drinking water to quench her taste.

You've also said she goes to a crèche. What's her feeding like there?

She's only six months old. Some babies do not start eating solids "seriously" till they are around 8-9 months old.
Mummygwen. Are you blind? Did you not read the epistle I typed just in a bid to help you ? undecided

Chaiiiii. That was a decent amount of money back then.

Nospectro sent so many people to early graves. People would walk into banks to cancel their fixed deposits/investments just because they wanted to put their funds in nospectro.

I actually thought a lot of people knew about the nospectro, sefteg, etc scam of 2008/2009 and this info was passed on between family, friends, acquaintances, etc so I was actually very shocked to hear about so many people falling for this MMM barely 7 years later.

Onegai, your uncle's own is still fair.

An uncle of mine (well educated and exposed) retired as a top shot from one of the top brewery companies in nigeria with an eye watering retirement package.

He began looking for viable businesses to invest in and that was how he bumped into these group of very "educated", smartly dressed young men who told him he would invest in shipping. That is, own a big ship and go into freight forwarding, import, export, etc. His grown up sons met these young men and alarm bells started ringing and they warned their dad but he didn't listen.

My uncle was taken to Marina where he physically inspected a ship. Few days later, he wired money into an account for the purchase of the ship. That was the last he heard from those men.

He went back to the spot at Marina where he viewed the ship and the ship was nowhere to be found. undecided

See eh, I lost 300k to SEFTEG cry in 2008 (someone pitched the idea to me) and I swore never ever again to partake in any shoddy "investment" scheme. Back then, sefteg and nospectro had "physical" offices and nospectro even diversified to oil and gas. This was the only reason why I was sold and subscribed to the scheme as I thought it was some sort of genuine investment scheme. Yet they went bust with people's funds. Since then, if the investment scheme is not regulated by the government/managed by reputable people, I jump and pass.

About the beating, we must all admit that we 'tap' , 'spank', 'knock' our kids for one reason or the other but we wont come here and say it as u did thereby making pple go all judge Judy on u. All in all, keep trying to feed her at her own pace, be patient with her and she will thrive. Best wishes
Madam.

Please speak for yourself. I have a 15 months old son and I have NEVER 'spank', 'tap' or 'knock' ed him.

Some of us actually live in countries where we are accountable for our actions and there are family courts that won't hesitate to take a child from the parents. A baby here doesn't belong to the parents technically. Bring harm to that child and the government steps in, takes the child away and the parents have no contact till the child is 18years.

U "knock" a child on the head and he faints and you rush him to A&E. A brain scan or CT scan is done and brain bleed is detected. Which mouth do you want to use to explain what you've done? undecided

Can't believe that you actually think it's okay to abuse/assault a baby physically and cheering her on that "it's okay" and "other mums" do it.

mind u I have changed her crèche twice in a period of three months,
Okay. Let's breakdown this your statement.

Your baby is 6 months old and you have changed crèches twice in three months. This means she started crèche when she was 3 months old.

At 3 months, what were you feeding her? Wasn't it just milk or did you introduce solids at that age?

You've said in your previous posts that she takes breastmilk very well. So where you expressing milk for her to take to crèche at 3 months? If not, then what was she having at the crèche?

If she was rejecting formula or bottle at 3months, did it ever occur to you that it might be that she was uncomfortable with the teat of the feeding bottle? Maybe the teat was too hard for her or the flow from the teat was too slow for her? Did you consider changing the teat or trying another formula brand?

Have you had her checked to see if she's not down with tonsillitis as this makes swallowing very difficult/painful in babies?

Finally, you fail to remember that your baby is only 6 months old. Let it sink it into your skull that your baby is only 6 months old and not 6 years old. Her sense of touch, smell and taste are still developing.

, asking if she eat in the crèche, am not there but I always ask when I pick her if she eat and ofcourse they will say she finished the food but when I carry her she always look light... ok.
The staff at the crèche have no reason to lie about your baby not eating. To be honest, you are one paranoid woman !!

Since you work, I'm guessing your baby is at crèche between 9am to 5pm (averagely). It's impossible for her at all not to eat during this time. Even if she did not, she will be extremely cranky and fussy and such babies are not fun to manage at any crèche. For this simple reason, the staff at the crèche would have told you that she's not eating well and they would have suggested meals that you can introduce.

I have a son that started crèche early so I have a very good understanding how things work.

The fact is that your approach to feeding is totally different from the approach adopted at the crèche. I'm sure at the crèche, she's fed with love and patience which is why she eats really well.

What you should do is ask the staff at the crèche what time of the day she feeds and how she's fed and then you adopt their technique. You can also take a day off and spend a few hours at the crèche to see how the staff feed her.

Since when did your hands become a "weighing scale" huh huh undecided So just because you carry her and she's "light" means she hasnt been fed at the crèche? When was the last time you had her weight checked at the hospital ? Have you had the nurse or doctor weigh her and then compare her birth weight with her current weight using a baby's weight chart?

For your mind now, you've made sense undecided

So the reasons you've listed makes PHYSICALLY ASSAULTING an innocent BABY justifiable? undecided

Oga, it's best you focus on your book selling business and not make such posts as you come across as someone in support of child abuse.

You mean you BEAT 'SERIOUSLY' a baby that's 6 months oldhuh shocked cry cry cry That's the height of wickedness and nothing but child abuse !!!

You have absolutely NO excuse for spanking a baby that age and there's nothing you can say to justify such insane behaviour.

Honestly Madam, are you okay upstairs? I think you need to see a psychologist because such behaviour is NOT normal at all. You beat her seriously, she cries, you feel bad and then you repeat the cycle again. lipsrsealed Of all techniques that can be used in feeding a BABY, how come it's spanking you've chosen to adopt??!!

In sane climes, that baby would have been taken away from you if word got out that you were actually spanking a 6 months old baby.

Why won't she refuse food from you? If you "beat her seriously" just because she refuses to take a spoon of cereal, only God knows what you do to her when she's cranky or when she soils her nappy immediately after a nappy change/bath.

May God have mercy on you. Amen.

We cut corner and neglect a lot of things in Nigeria and most times even go way below the approved standards.

A few super beams should have been introduced and woven into the design and aesthetics of the building to carry the loads since they didn't want to introduce a centre beam or transverse load balancer.

I will blame the architect 101%.
I agree.

However, the structural engineer also shares a large portion of the blame.

That structure is a complex one that involves a lot of calculation/engineering maths to get everything right. Every single thing had to be taken into account - from the weight, length of each steel beam to the density of the concrete used in the foundation work.

Guess someone was just too lazy or maybe they employed a quack.

Soil test to determine load bearing capacity is not the issue here as the building did not collapse because of foundation failure. The building collapsed due to design failure.
The soil's load bearing capacity for a structure of that size is very important. It is one of the very first test that should have been carried out before any work commenced on the building site.

Looking at the picture, the soil looks like laterite.

Looking at the picture again, it appears there was a lot of soil excavation before the construction work began.

There is nothing wrong with the design of the building itself. I have seen several far more complex structures. The problem is too much emphasis was placed on the structural roof work without thinking about the load bearing walls/beams/soil.
