What is depression, pls?

After accepting that I didn't get the nnpc apl, all I do now is to think deeply about diseases, old age, loneliness, death, hell fire, calamities, and just everything really scary.

These thoughts have been really heavy on my chest and I'm getting really scared & weak. Abeg if there's any psychologist or psychiatrist here, can u tell me if this is a sign of depression or just a result of being idle?

In addition to freedomest's counsel, my brother, one thing I'd like to say is that, psychologically and medically, we can rightly call what you've described depression. However, I believe it's much deeper than that. I don't know if you believe in spiritual things but these feelings you're having serve as windows into your soul through which the devil will want to inflict terrible things and robe you in chains. So I'll suggest that you pray seriously about it. I'm going to join you as well. You must guard your heart dilligently. Listen to God-filled songs and messages, avoid being alone for long: avoid negative and faith-sapping/fear-inspiring people. Pray. Study the Bible. Pray more. I'm from the North (Taraba), grew up in the North (Kaduna), and studied in the North. I'm currently pursuing a master's degree in the southwest (U.I).
In a class of a little over 70 with around (90-95)% from the southwest, I couldn't find the kind of competition I expected, especially from an institution like UI.

Once the lecturer goes outside the box and past questions, students are crippled beyond expectation.
Cramming ability defines excellence many times. Such an excellence I'd say is only comparable to president Buhari's fight against corruption. It's simply fake.

I still wonder where that notion of South > North comes from. In terms of exposure, I agree 100% but in terms of mental capacity? It's a different ball game entirely. Expose us to same environment, circumstances and resources on the average and see what happens over a period of time; I bet it'll be a shocker to many.

In few words, Nigeria is blessed and graced across all regions. We have our differences and that makes us unique and beautiful. The earlier we embrace it, the better for us if we'll ever push the country.

Them and stealing Kidneys are like 5 and 6 , but I obliged anyways, needed to get mi mind off that wickedt Apl )

Dats was how I was jejely eating my Nkwobi and shamelessly licking my fingers when Nnpc trucks ( fuel I guess) suddenly began passing by one after the other.. They were all together...6 or seven in number..

Do u people know that I didn't know that I had stopped eating and was staring at dem trucks... Tears dripping from ma brown powered face and ma nkwobi in one hand with flies battling to have a share.. I didn't know, until Oga sharply tapped my face with his handkerchief... Oga , abeg no clean ma make up o.. Just jeje clean my apl tears and console me small small... biko Oh! Nnpc!

Sweet nkwobi suddenly turned bitter.. I couldn't finish it.. Oga suggested we leave

Very unlikely. Stalling the release of APL (if it had been ready), would imply shifting the resumption date further. This further presupposes that APLs will be reprinted. Would Nnpc be that inept? So I don't think it had been ready in the first place or it's ready but the date is still in the future.

What if no APL has actually been printed nor is any likely to be UNTIL AFTER the deadline for the acceptance or declination of the employment offer? Or perhaps, until after documentation and/or full onboarding? Because, obviously not everyone will accept the offer. So, maybe - just maybe - it could be safe to say that the final list is ready, along with specific dates, but notifications have either been delayed or not 'ripe' (as per dates and timelines) to go out yet.

For every 1000 police officers collecting salary of 40k, seeing their bosses living above their means, seeing senior colleagues dying to collect their pensions, whose children are sent back from school, whose shoes have holes, who cannot change cloths, who protect politicians stealing billions etc. AT LEAST 800 of them will cut corners.

If we have option to pay our first one year salary to someone to get this NNPC job, 80% of people here (including me) will take that option. Crime or illegality does not exist as a loner.

For every public infrastructure destroyed at least 5 indices are directing towards failed government (failure to enforce law, failure to protect lives and property, fail to prosecute prospective culprits, failure to educate, failure to empower, the list is endless).

The first sign of anarchy arises when system becomes selective in what to prosecute. When justice becomes a matter of tribe, class, religion etc. You think someone removing rail steel is a criminal? Have you thought of someone who refused to build school to educate him? Someone who refused to build hospital that led to his father's death? Someone who got billions from kickbacks of that project whose children will never "condescend" to the level of ever using such abysmal rail system (they rather fly over it)? Someone who stole money meant for industry, power etc which would have create employment for the "thief"?

Your Ecobank experience got me laughing because I went through something similar with Zenith bank. Wrote test with Peopleplus in September 2017, they didn't get back to me for so long. October 2018 I got 2 land-line calls one week apart with them asking if I was still available. The second call made it sound certain. They mentioned the city and said I should be on the lookout for their mail. After asking around, getting back to my brother's church guy who shared the advert (who is a managerial level staff in that city), and finding out there was indeed vacancy(ies) there, I had to tank my Futo MSc application. Didn't get transcript over before deadline....

UNRIPE SAUCE:They know or claim to know so many things about the underground processes involved in selection of candidates such as highest scorers, selection criteria, why the will disqualify people with kwashiokor during medicals etc, but they can not tell you anything tangible about when APL will show or why it is delayed e.g cliffwoods, flowwolf09,Urbanist, tonyhopkins, C12112 etc

3. HERBAL SAUCE:They give info concerning date of APL release with such aggression and assurance that triggers the community of local men and women, only for you to find out that its from their dream or vision or intuition e.g Gbyms, lordlight etc

4. BURNT SAUCES they give release date of APL as quoted by their 'sure sauce' who is in charge of the 'list' they are never radical about it though, are always matured in their dispensation. One key attribute about them however is that they always say 'this is their last post' but always return with another date when the original one fails.. They are the most liked sourceres by the AOLMAW and are the one's keeping this thread going e.g scobyy2007, Easymoneysniper, napoleon etc

5. BITTERSWEET SAUCES :You always know their info is a PURE LIE but because its what everyone wants to hear, everbody aside the grupo's keep pampering them...its the stage you pass through before you fall into the 'burnt sauce' category e.g check NB* above

SALTY SAUCE :They always claim to or act as if they have one seriously sure source from untop the gmd's office, They hardly ever drop any info here as regarding the APL release date but are always very quick to throw subtle jibes or sheepishly discredit other peoples info e.g local pumpingson woman , larride, flowolf09, etc

SOURED SAUCE :You hardly ever know if they have any source at all, they have had several frustrations and disappointment with the Nigeria system of recruitment and so they always doubt if anything good can come in the form of recruitment...these ones, even when they bring goodnews about APL, dey add badnews inside to make sure we are not overly excited. e.g Orijinofkalu, etc

8. TASTELESS SAUCE :All their sauce always come with a condition,barring any last minuite change , once you see them, run for your life, na dem

RAW SAUCE :this ones have somebody somewhere who knows a gateman in an NNPC filling station somewere in katampe who is giving dem info, they dont care about the outcome of the recruitment weda they get APL or not, they are most interested and excited in giving us info, so they give it to us the way it comes, dey dont even listen to d info themselves, they just foward it as their sauce sent it and they always attach evidence.. This group can never be triggered as they get maximum satisfaction in getting the previledge to give us sauce info.. e.g, 1000airplanes

10. CREAMY SAUCE :Anything that doesn't concern olajengbesi is not their business, they like to talk about court case so much, they always provoke Teaser4 to rain down the curses

10. DEADLY SAUCE :This one's dont like goodnews at all, whenever they call their source, they are like "uncle, have they finally cancelled the recruitment? When will they announce the cancellation? e.g check NB* above

Permit me, just felt like sharing these thoughts...

I had thought that making money within the confines of one's home was a great stuff. You know, not having to go out, yet the alerts keep coming, it was nice at first.

It made me develop a cold feet towards applying for jobs, I told myself that I wanted to be my own boss.

But it got boring ooo! I had to go teach for 20k, just to leave the house every morning, as others did, and return in the evening. I felt happy, you know, people asking me how work was that day, and my reply, "hmmm, work was stressful today".

2019 ended on a good note, and tomorrow will be the result of it. My first exposure was my undergraduate study, I grew up as an introvert, I interacted with people for the 'first time' in school, it was awkward at first, people had problems with my attitude. They always told me I behaved 'ancient'. You can imagine a Lagos born-and-bred, yet don't know almost anywhere in the smallest state in Nigeria.

But I was able to learn, being with people was the best thing that happened to me in school, having friends I could interact with, it was like I was not existing before.

I became the class representative, and woah! all eyes were on me. Leading my fellow classmates, it was challenging, they hated me at first, I was known for 2 things, DISCIPLINE and excellence. But I learnt to accommodate, and I began to have friends.

After NYSC, I returned back to my shell, where my only companion was my piano.

I am not just excited about the new job, I'm more excited about meeting the people there.

Well, I've learnt what effect this can have on someone, I I dare not take that path in bringing up my own.

You have echoed my thought and that of many sensible people around me I've had a discourse with about this recruitment. It is really sad and unfortunate how we get treated here. Communication is vital. It seems in this part of the country the government can get away with anything without accounting to the people the motives behind their actions. It is the same way the presidency keeps mute on certain important issues bothering the people. Zero communication to me is utterly disrespectful to the concerned parties.

This below is a screenshot of a chat I was having with a British friend of mine about a month ago. When I said in my last post I am almost moving on from this phase, I meant it. It's so sad. We all invested so much into this recruitment and deserve at least an unambiguous communique from people at the Towers. May the Almighty pave better ways for us. By mid or end of this month, I should just leave to start my PhD (officially starting on the 16th). That will be the final nail on the coffin of my NNPC dreams.
