I appreciate any insight in this. Thank you hemekhar: Gurus in the house, please assist. I have a remote job and i get paid directly to my dorm account, in light of the tax restructure, the advice is to register and use my company account as companies have a N50m non-taxable annual threshold, my question is, would this affect my application as my contract letter and payslips are in my name? i cant meet the company to draft a new contract in my company's name, would this be an issue? or would a cover letter be sufficient to explain it?
Thanks in advance |

Hello all,
Thanks for all inputs so far. I only heard of this visa yesterday and I've combed the entire thread. I just need a bit of clarification regarding the i-140 application:
1. Asides your proposed endeavour, recommendations and related evidences? Are there other documentation(s) we need to put? Is there any recommended length the petition should be in?
2. Seeing the average time is looking to be 2-3 years, how can i effect a change (lets say I get married) for example and the i-140 has already been approved?
3. Looking for specific endeavour ideas on cybersecurity, I'll be glad if someone can point me or a lawyer who has experience in security related petitions.
My Profile: 1. Bachelor's in Electrical and Electronics Engineering 2. 7 years experience in Cybersecurity |

Hey bro, i'm literally just seeing this response. I took a break to focus on my domestic career as "a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush" lol but I would pursue this course profile recommendation of yours. For some reason, I cant find the report in my mail, sincerely hope I didn't delete it out of frustration. I'll get back to you. Thank you so much. NB1912: Sorry to hear about your negative outcome. I have a few question which might shed some light to your case.
1. Can you post a screenshot of your assessment result removing any personal details? 2. How many ICT units did you undertake as part of your degree? Can you list them including the unit code? Does it have at least 33% of ICT content? Or is the ICT content at least two thirds of your degree?
I always advise people who have engineering degree and want to apply for ACS assessment to also submit a course profile. This is because there are some courses which might include ICT content but not listed as ICT in your transcript, hence, ACS would miss this. You can always get a course profile from your university.
You can go for a review once you lay your hands on your course profile. I am almost certain that there is enough ICT content in an ELect/Elect degree from Covenant University.
PS: I have just google elect/elect courses at Covenant university and I can see a lot of your courses are related to ICT. However, because of their naming convention ACS might not know they are ICT courses. Hence, the reason why it is very important to provide a course profile along with your application. Please get your course profile and go for a review. |

Hello everyone,
My skills assessment for ICT Security Specialist came out negative because "my bachelors in Electrical and Electronics Engineering did not have enough computing requirements" although all my Info Sec experience from 2015 till date were accepted. I'm really not sure how else to go about this except the RPL route which I don't think I'm ready for.
Just want to thank @tunlex01 and @Bellong for their tremendous help. God Bless you both |

tunlex01: yes. You can fill the 7 years but claim points for 3 years and not claim points for the 4 years
There has been a recent update from DHA that if your assessing body reduce your years of experience, then the Visa Case officer can review that and do their own assessment. This means you leave the chance to the CO to either accept the points you claimed or the ones approved by the assessing body. Most people avoid this cos you don't want to get to the stage to have your visa refused. So the choice is yours. Thanks boss, what do you personally recommend? |

Hello gurus,
Please forgive my ignorance. When an accessing body deducts 4 years from a 7 years experience, does this mean you have to fill 3 years in your skills calculator or the deduction is just for the skills assessment? Make person no make mistake chop ban |
Travel › Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by hemekhar(m): 2:48am On Mar 31, 2023 |
NB1912: You don't need RPL. RPL is for those without an IT degree. Elect/Elect usually includes some IT courses and from my experience ACS usually deducts 4 years. Your degree will be classified as ICT major, however, the ICT content will not be closely relevant to the nominated occupation, hence, the reason why ACS will deduct 4 years.
Hope this helps. Cheers! I appreciate my brother, God Bless you |

NB1912: For an Elect/Elect degree, ACS will deduct 4 years. You will only be able to claim 3 years of experience. Thank you, So, what do you advise? Do you think I'll have better luck with RPL? |

tunlex01: Chances are very slim but there is no harm in trying. You may get 1 or 2 years approved by ACS. Speak to your PFA about that. They should be able to issue a pension statement that shows pension payments for the entire 7 years. Thank you. Also, I have references from my previous employers addressed to a school in Australia when I was trying the admission route. Can I use them or do I have to get a new reference addressed to ACS? |

I just came across this thread and its very informative. I've been in Cybersecurity for 7 years and want to get as assessment done with ACS. Problem is I have a Bachelors in Elect/Elect Engineering from Covenant University. What do you think are my chances?
Also, for the payment parts, how can I go about the superannuation route to show? What do I need to request from my PFA?
Thanks |

mamatwiny: Please include you have a bsc in electrical and electronics Engineering from Convenant University so that you can adequately be advised cos of all these their relevant education, rpl etc things.
My own verdict- it is a 50-50 thing for assessment cos of your undergrad degree and you don't have more than 6 years experience which they may deduct in lieu of relevant experience if they don't see elect &elect as relevant experience.
It is good you place all the cards on the table so that you don't go and waste money unnecessarily or even if you are in it, you know how to condition your mind. Na d major wahala for Aussie parole .
For the proof of payment evidence, I put 3 payslips per year- January, June and Dec. I also got my pension statement from the provider. You can also add statement of your salary account
You can try and get a job offer and employer sponsorship as the job is in high demand in aussie
Waiting for the ogas to come and torch light ur matter regarding relevance. Thanks for this insight, I'm currently looking at the New Zealand link and it's not a bad option. I might end up trying this. Thanks once again. |

Hello House,
I've spent hours reading and also gone through the ACS page. I want to do my skills assessment with ICT Security Specialist 262112, I'm a bit confused however on their payment evidence; Can I just send evidence for the first and last month of each year or am I supposed to send proof for all the months? The narrations on my salary payments did not include my employer's name.
Also, my total work experience is 4 years, 9 months. Can I claim 5 years or should I wait till I clock 5 calendar years?? |

theamerican: In my opinion, your interview was really going well and you almost nailed it. I'd definitely reapply if I were in your shoes but with better preparation. Nothing wrong with your answers except for the two questions in bold.
First one. Did you take any tests? I think "No" or "No, I didn't" would have been better. Not taking a test is not a crime. If they need anything else, they'd ask why.
The second question in bold was your chance to nail the visa. Your answer was general, vague and most importantly, it didn't really answer the question: "Why are you leaving your good job?". Read your answer again, and you'd see that you could have done a better job. Another VO could have been impressed so maybe you just got unlucky.
I believe reapplying is a good idea with better preparation. Give specifics. Talk about the particular technical and business skills you'd be getting and the particular examples of "senior roles" you wanna go back to. Better preparation. Don't give up on a dream after one failure.
This is an opinion, please don't mistake for legal advice Thanks for the correction, I’m seeing the mistake now, God Bless you. |

LeSudAfricaine: Forget that fuckpro nonsense, here's the deal. South Africa is not a racist nation but has a lot of racists. Don't know if I make sense! Like any other mixed country like the US, the UK. Brasil etc you'll find that the racists amongst those countries it's the older white people because they assume themselves to be superior based on the colour of their skins, South Africa's no exception. Black people aren't racist or xenophobic. It's a small segment of people who are like that. But Nigerians are viewed negatively by all South Africans because they tend to be associated with criminality, but then again that's trend the world over. If you are concerned with racism do yourself a favour and target another varsity because Stellenbosch university is the bastion of the racist Afrikaners. rather try Wits Univeristy, University of KwaZulu Natal, University of Pretoria etc. The fooll that tells you to avoid black people can go hang since you can never escape black people as they are the majority Wow; I only chose stellenbosch because I checked the rankings and saw it was highly rated. Thanks brother |

nongo123: I'm a South African currently studying at University of Venda. Going to Stellenbosch is not such a good idea since the majority of students there are whites and that's where the real racism is. Wits, UKZN and Un. of Pretoria are good alternatives. Black students are not racists, they don't care about where you are from. Thanks brother, let me check if they offer masters if renewable energy |
