There are various groups in Nigeria that wouldn't want to be part of Nigeria or want Nigeria to spilt into independent nations, will it be possible to form political parties based on this belief?
A pro-independent party is more legal than forming a militant or armed group fighting for independence and I know there is freedom of association in Nigeria's constitution but does it recognise a pro-independent party?

'Scotland is my home'

Scotland "would certainly have a future as an independent country," he said, comparing it to Norway.
"There's something that is Scottish, there is an identity, a pride, a history that's a bit different," Aspinwall said.
"I love Scotland ,  It's clean and fresh, open and green. It has the same topography as northern New England, the same mountains, not the same trees ,  it's a great place, friendly people, and Edinburgh is a wonderful city, a really cosmopolitan place. It's great here."

Traditional goodwill
She feared an independent country might lose some of the traditional goodwill Americans have toward Scotland if it was "constantly trying to make grandstanding gestures on the world stage."
Goldie said it "undoubtedly would be a left-of-center, socialist administration with already well articulated views on issues like nuclear — Trident (nuclear missiles) or nuclear energy — and very strong views on social issues ,  all sorts of views which are somewhat alien to the American ethos."
One decision that was entirely alien to U.S. traditions was the early release of Abdel Baset al-Megrahi — the only person convicted in the bombing attack on Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie — on compassionate grounds in 2009, just eight years after he was found guilty of the mass murder of 270 people.




SNP Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill made the decision after doctors reportedly told him that al-Megrahi, suffering from cancer, likely had three months to live. Nearly two years after his release, al-Megrahi remains alive.
The SNP's stance on NATO is another possible source of friction.
The naval base at Faslane on the west coast of Scotland — home to the U.K.'s nuclear submarine fleet — and the safe harbor at Scapa Flow off the country's northern coast are strategically important locations.

Cold War tracking stations
Scotland is also part of a network of sonar monitoring stations — built during the Cold War to track Russian submarines moving into the North Atlantic — that could become important should the old tensions flare up again.
A senior SNP source admitted there was a difference of opinion within the party about NATO membership, with some members so strongly opposed to nuclear weapons on moral grounds that they did not want to be under NATO's "nuclear umbrella."
Defense commentator Stuart Crawford, who served as a lieutenant colonel in the U.K.'s Royal Tank Regiment and later became the SNP's junior defense spokesman, said senior party figures had long wanted to get rid of the party's "bonkers" opposition to NATO.

But last month a "political tsunami" struck the United Kingdom and this once-mighty state faces being broken up.

While the U.K. has been one of America's staunchest allies — often concerned with the state of the so-called "special relationship" between the two countries — an independent Scotland would likely be at odds with the U.S. on many issues.

The SNP would rid Scotland of nuclear weapons on moral grounds; it would also take Scotland — which lies in a strategically important position in the North Atlantic — out of NATO. And despite being a significant oil producer, the SNP has already introduced what it describes as "world-beating" climate change legislation with a target to cut carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050.
'Illegal, immoral conflict'

Moreover, the Iraq War was "an illegal, immoral conflict," Salmond told reporters at the Foreign Press Association in London last month, and something that an independent Scotland would never have become involved in.
Leaving the U.K. would give Scotland the chance to create "a socially just, economically prosperous society," Salmond added, and not be "a country that excels in nuclear weapons and dominating others."
"Being a big country is not a question of size and scale, but of the size of your ideas, the scale of your contribution to humanity," he said.
Speaking to msnbc.com, Salmond dismissed suggestions an independent Scotland might have a poor relationship with the U.S., pointing to the mutual warmth between America and the Republic of Ireland, which is not a NATO member.
"We'd be in exactly the same position as Ireland is at the present moment," he said.
"There's a lot of goodwill towards Scotland from people in America," Salmond added, noting Scots had made a "fairly substantial contribution to the intellectual backbone of the American Revolution."

But Salmond said the SNP's victory in the May election showed that Scots were gaining in confidence and had rejected the "mendacious message" that Scotland was "too small and too poor to look after its own affairs."
"It was a political tsunami that occurred in Scotland," he said, days after announcing a referendum on independence would be held within the next five years.

Nigeria Under-23 striker Anthony Ujah is very close to joining Danish giants Brondby.

Ujah, who has scored nine times for Lillestrom this season, is expected to sign a four-year deal worth €2-million as early as Monday.

The forward joined the Norwegian side from Warri Wolves in 2009 and has scored 23 goals in 33 appearances, including nine in nine games this term.

Don't be surprised that a lot of these Ijaws answering Igbo names are actually slaves who having lost their Igbo identity preferred to take English names than Ijaw names. It wasn't worth taking Ijaw names since the Palm oil trade brought them to Ijaw land, they might as well find an English name that would make trade with the gringos easier. I can state here that OSU is a long dead issue from my maternal side. According to her, the decision to break away from the past was carried out by the village powerful group called UMUADA( in the 90s). I have seen people who marry the beautiful ladies from there and vice versa, and they are really doing good. My mom was trying to hook up one with me last year( mom's a free-born from same village.),  . it didnt work out and it was never because her family was termed OSU in the past. Arrangements have now been concluded for Saturday’s showpiece Testimonial Match for former Super Eagles’ skipper and Ambassador of Nigeria football, Nwankwo Kanu.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation, the match between Friends of Kanu and Super Eagles’ All-Stars will take place at the 25,000-capacity Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos on Saturday, June 11.

Among the friends of Kanu expected are Ghanaian midfield ace, Michael Essien, Cote d’Ivoire’s inimitable forward Didier Drogba and France’s 1998 World Cup winning defender, Marcel Dessaily, of Ghanaian descent.

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola will captain the Super Eagles’ All-Stars. The governor has also approved the free use of the Teslim Balogun Stadium for the showpiece.

NFF officials confirmed on Monday that the Friends of Kanu coming from abroad have already secured their entry visas into Nigeria, while match tickets are almost ready. Tickets for the VIP section will go for N3,000 each while the popular side will be available for N500 each.

NFF will provide technical officials for the two teams, as well as security and medical items. It will also provide match officials.

Arrangements have been concluded for live telecast of the match by SuperSport and AIT.

Nigeria striker Yakubu Ayegbeni is weighing up a move to Turkey, with Fenerbahce and Karabuksor believed to be likely destinations for the forward.

The28-year-old is currently on loan to Leicester City from Everton. Although the deal is with the option of a permanent signing, the Foxes’ failure to secure promotion to the Premier League has left the striker looking elsewhere for top-flight football.

Yakubu has fallen out of favour at Everton, and it is widely understood that both player and club are keen to sever their £11.5-million relationship.

The striker spent nearly eight months out with injury and failed to regain his place in the Everton first team on his return, while going off to the African Nations Cup with Nigeria in 2010 while not fully fit did little to help his situation with the club.

Things were made exceedingly worse by a miserable Nigeria World Cup performance remembered mostly for his close-range miss against South Korea, although he showed bravery to step up and nerves of a steel to convert a penalty less than a minute later.

Everton are unlikely, however, to recoup anything near what was then a record fee when they signed the striker, although they can take consolation from the 25 goals he racked up in his 82 appearances for the Toffees.

Everton now want around £3-million for the Nigerian, but will be happy to get half that.

Sources close to the player tell KickOffNigeria.com he would welcome a move to Turkey, although there had been interest from at least one of the teams just promoted from the Championship.

Lillestrom striker Anthony Ujah has been called up to the Nigeria Under-23 squad for their 2012 Olympic qualifier against Tanzania.

Ujah has nine goals in as many appearances so far for the Norwegian team, and he tells KickOffNigeria.com he will be in camp by Tuesday afternoon.

“I just got a call-up to the Under-23 team and I will be in Lagos on Tuesday,” the 20-year-old says.

Ujah’s call-up appears to be to cover for the loss of Danny Uchechi, who suffered a muscle tear four minutes into the team’s international friendly against Costa Rica at the weekend.

“It’s sad considering the fact that we have a qualifier this weekend, but that is football for you,” coach Austin Eguavoen stated while confirming the injury. “We definitely would miss the services of Chima in the game against Tanzania, but we have players that can fill the vacuum.”

Uchechi, who has played in all the team’s qualifying matches, scored three of the 16 goals recorded by the team so far in the qualifiers.

That game, against Costa Rica, marked Eguavoen’s first loss as Olympic team coach. The former Super Eagles defender prosecuted the game with 12 outfield players and two goalkeepers after Gbolahon Salami, Nnamdi Oduamadi and Fatai Kehinde failed to show up for the game.

The team are expected to depart for Dar es Salam on June 3 ahead of the June 5 Olympic Games qualifier.


Meanwhile

Defender Gege Soriola has been called up to the Super Eagles as replacement for Yusuf Mohammed.

The Al Hilal full-back was forced to withdraw from the squad with injury.

Soriola was one of the stars of this month's Wafu Cup, where the team of domestic Super Eagles reached the Final despite a lack of preparation.

Soriola was one of the stand-out players from the tournament, although he blotted his copybook with a mindless challenge in the Final that earned him a red card, and ultimately cost his team the title.

Red-hot Nigerian striker Ekigho Ehiosun has turned down a potentially lucrative switch to Mamelodi Sundowns as he is eying a move to Europe.

Ehiosun, 22, has hit five goals in six senior appearances for Nigeria, prompting interest from the South African PSL side, who sent a scout to Abeokuta to monitor the forward and table an offer.

But sources close to the player told KickOffNigeria.com they were only interested in a move to Europe, with interest coming in from French champions Lille, Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam and an unnamed Turkish Super Lig club.

The Warri Wolves striker himself tells KickOffNigeria.com he was in no hurry to leave Nigeria.

"My agent told me about the offer from Sundowns, but there have been good interest from Europe and I think I will wait for that. For now, my focus is to help Warri Wolves in the League and to do my best to help the Super Eagles qualify for the Nations Cup," Ehiosun said.
