Kante for instance has evolved dramatically since last year. If you watch him now, you see a player who is now technically astute, who dribbles and creates space for his teammates and who now plays mostly in the opponents attacking half. His goal against Liverpool last week was a career best.

Statistically, his defensive numbers have dropped compared to his previous years while his attacking output has increased.
So kante coming back to the team, while improving the teams overall work rate and stamina might not necessarily translate to defensive stability seeing that he now has a role change. He will no longer sit in front of the defense, his impact will be in the final third of the pitch.

You are right about Sarri transforming Kante into an all round player but his defensive duty will still felt once he return fully.
