My initial capital was 8m. The effective yield too has increased as per their email. Thing is, just put money you'll likely leave in your savings or rent and forget about it.

I used to leave the money in savings account and get deductions instead. It didn't grow. I left it in mutual funds and it's giving me those returns.

BTW, the smart play here is to dump your annual expenses like say rents into mutual funds. Before your next rent, you must have gotten grown parts of that rent back.

Mutual funds returns are better when you invest substantial sum. For instance, my Stanbic IBTC Mutual funds gives me at least a 100k monthly

Learn to say no. Run your budget every month and stick to it like the doctor's prescription.

This is how I prepare mine to be smooth and not too soft.

I add groundnut oil to the water I'm boiling. The water shouldn't be much.

Add the Semo to a bowl, also add some water and stir until smooth, as if you're making custard.

Once the water is boiling properly, add the Semo and turn. Keep adding dry Semo to the right texture you want.

Now the oil we added earlier ensures the Semo doesn't stick to the pan and it's smooth too.

Saw this post and I recalled an incident when I was teaching Computer science in Kogi state during my NYSC placement.

Told the class rep to write names of noise makers. He did and handed the list to me afterwards.

As I was reeling out the names for punishment, I stumbled upon a certain all-English names and I impulsively knew he was from the south, and specifically Akwa Ibom.

"Are you from Akwa Ibom?" I queried when he shuffled forward to receive his punishment.

"Yes." He responded.

I shook my head.


Akwa Ibom people are notorious for onomastic anglicization (😂). I could have been a victim save that my grandpa was highly learned and he usually rebelled against the assimilation of some western practices. Guess I got some of my rebellious attitude from him.

But I'm glad he did. Today, I'm most happy to flash my indigenous surname like a privilege badge, and will ensure I carry my people's culture forward - starting from the name.
