@bolded, totally wrong use of English.

I hope you are aware we have various types of criticism? The type @2nd bolded sentence is positive criticism, which praises and praises.

And also don't forget we have destructive criticism. Which is what the boy did.

Now based on the definition of criticism(whichjis why I quoted you) can you see the boy is not totally at fault?
'the writeup was an aggregation of personal attack?'
Just say you don't understand.

The boy used destructive criticism, his institution used instructive rustication... What if they'd decided to apply destructive expulsion?

My point was, always criticize your elders with respect, especially people who can make or mar you. Why would you give them a TKO and still expect them to wake up the next day and award you a degree... Who would do that?

And by the way "bolded" is wrong English.

I really do not know what education mean to you but what we have here in Nigeria, likely you clearly opined, is a circulatory system of non-physical-productive ventures. Everything begins and end on paper.

I was expecting to read something that has been invented, built, engineered, discovered, explored as a result of such publication which they(professors,PhD et al) had also copied from somewhere, re-written and passed down to you and you are passing same to me.

Rubbish... angry
photoshoot:
What publication? Same one my dad used while he was in school some twenty something years ago? Please, say the truth!
Inasmuch as what you say it's true, but the importance of an academic publications cannot be overemphasized. Our academicians have given us a guideline of prior scholarship, it's left for you to follow the instructions therein, which might lead to more discovery. From there you can fit in the missing link and create something out of it.
Or would you have preferred to start from scratch? Where would you get the time and resources?

It pains me to see people who are not in unilag commenting on this issue.
So because some people are PhD holders all decisions they make for thw student populace, whether favourable or not should be allowed?

Please don't tell me you support criticism or I might be forced to ask your definition of criticism.
Maybe it's you that needs to tell us your own definition of criticism, because that article is just an aggregation of ad hominems.

It's one thing to tell someone: 'Tunde, you're a fool, in fact your doctorate degree in zoology is waste. You should be in the zoo tending to animals instead of thinking of running this company.'

And another thing to say: 'Tunde, that decision was very poor, Mr A should have been appointed, instead of Mr B, because Mr A has a better qualification and more years of working experience. We are so disappointed. We expected better .'

Even if you chose to combine the two, the purpose of the write up would be lost amidst the insults.

Now judge for yourself.

What has those publication done to your life as a Nigerian? I need answer FAST! You guys do get it do you? We are professors, engineers, etc on papers.
Without those publications on and off the Internet, what would've make up the bedrock of your academic research?
The quality of the research project is to a large extent dependent on the quality, quantity, and recency of resources consulted and cited.

As a student, I've benefitted a lot from such publications, as it has given me more insights to my project topics and the assents to research and discover more.

Without such publications, the Internet and libraries would've been useless.

This is a case of a child calling his father an ineffectual buffoon but still expect to live in the family house.

You're yet to obtain a common B.Sc but had the audacity, impetus and obscene effrontery to refer to a PhD holder who has many publications to his credit in such manners.

Where is the respect for elders?

I support criticism, but this one was wild and uncouth. You merit the rustication.

I experience this once. Mehn, it was terrible.

I struggled to open my eyes, but my ciliary muscles refused to bulge. I felt so powerless like someone had increased the gravity in my room. grin

After some minutes of struggling, my eyes finally gave way and I came back to life.
I quickly withdrew my phone from the side of the bed, entered Google and saw this...

During rapid eye movement (REM) sleep the brain has
vivid dreams, while the muscles of the body are essentially
turned off. While sleeping, the muscles are unable to move so
that the person won't be able to act out dreams with their body.
Sleep paralysis happens when a person wakes up before REM is
finished.

Okay, lets for the purpose of this argument suppose that you are right, but do you really believe i'll have anything other than shame to lose?

And what shame are you even talking about?

As much as my body desires to have sex, i refuse it, and stay celibate till marriage.
I wont disobey God to marry an unbeliever, I keep my body under control, yet you tell me i will be shamed if i discover there's no hell? Are you okay?

Shouldn't i be rather shamed than sorry?

Hahahahahahahahaha. Just wait, you will find out fire is hotter than shame.

keep telling yourself there's no hellfire, who knows maybe you may come to believe it with time.
Please go back and read my post to your understanding before you reply. This is a case of gross ignorance and it irks me.

No Sir. That's why I said we have different realities and you came to threaten me with death.

I have no fear, whatsoever, for death. Even if I will be dying now, I WILL BE VERY HAPPY. But, the only thing that can make me unhappy when I remember it is the world will loose a wonderful man!

Apart from that, I have NO regret.

Its like when Mr A and Mrs E ate the apple, their eyes opened and they started questioning the authority of God (according to JW)..
Now you don chop enough Apple, your eyes don open and you start questioning your duties and responsibilities grin

I'm just hoping your future hubby will understand, cause you might end up in the same way as those your role models I mentioned above grin

Maybe you haven't come across the concept of division of labour and specialisation. That's how the family is supposed to be run. You handle your part, I handle mine so that there'd be efficiency. The other partner might help the other if the needs arises, but the status quo must be maintained to avoid unnecessary conflict which might lead to..... Hope you know.

Nice thread Winner01

The main idea of this thread is that atheists should quit talking already and start working. That they should bring in ideas and innovations, revival and cure.. And not just 'talking'.
That's very true. But you should also know that none of these can take place when the society is still choked with a mentality and belief systems that is antagonistic to progress.
This is a country where people rather fast and pray than settling down to think up logical solutions to problems, churches are spreading out everyday like epidemics; people demonize almost everything and anything, such as one of the threads I saw on Nairaland about demonic cobwebs and other ludicrous B.S. that is sponsored by religion in our society today.

Considering the above, how can atheists 'work' in such an environment?

To that effect, therefore it is pertinent for them to create the right atmosphere for this work to begin by purging, 'reviving' and 'curing' the minds of these people that have been dilapidated all these years by extreme religiosity and that can only be done by TALKING.
If we were not rational human beings, we would have been taking the same measures like your brothers, Boko Haram. Maybe that's when you'd have seen that we're working. But as civilised individuals, we chose 'talking', cause talking wrought enlightenment and enlightenment brings about change. Both enlightenment and change begins from the mind, hence we must KEEP TALKING in order to bring a total overhaul to the old, demented way of reasoning and behaviours, so that people will start seeing things in the right light.
And when people start seeing things in the right light, that's when IDEAS and INNOVATIONS will be born.

Hence, atheists must keep talking till Nigeria receive sense!

Naturally everything in life is about choices and in long run every of our choices would surely tell on our future. The significance of sexual purity cannot be overemphasized. Each person to his own decisions.

Its not by a man 's effort being chaste only God makes it possible, moreover we are all humans prone to sin. So that extra factor coupled with being determined and making your NO capital NO and your YES same too as i was taught in secondary school some years ago makes it work.

I'm not a pastor and i won't preach to anyone. I know whatever you sow that you shall reap cheesy it has been so right from the days of Adam and Eve.
