PoliticsNigerians, Not Buhari, To Blame For Transparency Intl’s Poor Rating – Presidency by HeWrites(op): 1:07pm On Feb 01, 2021
The Presidency says Nigerians are to blame for the country’s poor ranking on Transparency International’s 2020 Corruption Perception Index in which Nigeria scored 25 out of 100, Igbere TV reports.

In the rating released last week, Nigeria was also named the second most corrupt nation in West Africa and ranked 149 out of 180 countries.

Senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity Garba Shehu said on Monday on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme that it was an indictment on Nigerians, and not on the Buhari administration.

He said,
“I’ll tell you that this one by TI is not a judgment on Buhari or his administration or its war against corruption, I will tell you that this one is a judgment on Nigerians because if you look at the indices they used at arriving at these conclusions, they used eight indices, six of which showed Nigeria as being more or less Nigeria in the same position.

“The two that they dwelled on, that caused this backslide, are essentially Nigerian problems. They’re talking about the political culture of this country, vote-buying, thuggery. Is it Buhari that is a thug? We’re not doing thuggery.

“And when they talk about the justice sector, they are talking about perceived corruption in the judiciary. These perceptions are essentially not correct. Yes, there are issues in that sector but so many changes are going on in that sector wouldn’t it have been nice if they acknowledged it so that you encourage those judicial officers that are upright, and then the system gets getting better.”

Minister of Information Lai Mohammed had also on Sunday discredited Transparency International’s report.

CelebritiesHow Ernest Asuzu Battled Stroke For Six Years by HeWrites(op): 8:54am On Jan 27, 2021
Nollywood actor Ernest Asuzu has died after battling with stroke for six years.

The Imo-born actor reportedly slumped and died around 9pm on Tuesday, January 26.

His wife was said to have called fellow actor Desmond Elliot to announce the death to him.

The death comes one month after Ernest said in a Premium Times interview that he was ready to return to acting.

“Yes, I am back, better, and stronger. I miss going to movie locations, my colleagues, and the financial benefits of my job,” he said.

Igbere TV recall that a video of the actor begging for help on the street went viral on social media in January 2020.

It was recorded in the Oke-Afa area of Lagos by some friends who came visiting from Germany.

According to the actor, “my friends decided to shoot a short video clip to let the world know that I am still going through a lot. That was when I removed my shirt and cried out.”

In February, president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Emeka Rollas said the association was making plans to help Ernest get back on his feet.

“Ernest Asuzu is one of us. I have always identified with him since he developed stroke until there was a break in communication, but thank God that we have reconnected.

“We are following up on our promises and have swung into action by setting up a special fundraising committee for him through which our members can assist him, Rollas told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The AGN leader also said the body was planning to move Asuzu to a hospital in Abuja for better treatment.

Ernest himself told NAN in April that he had recovered from the stroke.

“Although I am still on medication, I feel much better and I really thank God for my life because it’s been years of a big challenge for me,” he said.

He also thanked the wife of the Anambra State governor Ebere Obiano for settling his medical bills.

Ernest was active on the acting scene in the 90s up till 2015 when he suffered a stroke.

He rose to prominence with the 1997 film Rituals directed by Andy Amenechi.

Ernest, who believed his illness was spiritual, announced in 2015 that Pastor Jeremiah Funfeyin of Mercyland Deliverance Ministry had healed him.

The cleric reportedly gave him a new SUV valued at about N3.5m and N1.5m as startup capital to help revive his career.

Politics40 Children: When It Rains Africans Think Of Women Instead Of Agric- Reno Omokri by HeWrites(op): 9:29am On Jan 26, 2021
Former presidential spokesperson, Reno Omokri has reacted to report of Bauchi carpenter who wants 40 children, Igbere TV reports.

A report yesterday said that the 36-year-old carpenter in an interview with Leadership Newspaper, revealed that he is proud of becoming father of 13 children after his four wives gave birth within 3 weeks. With the new births, he now has a total of 13 children (10 boys and 3 girls).

Reacting to this, Reno Omokri stated that it is a symptom of why Africa is poor. According to him, Africans think of sex when it rains and not agriculture.

He tweeted;
“The Bauchi carpenter who wants to have 40 kids is a symptom of why Africa is poor. In 1960, Nigeria’s population was 45 million.

"UK’s was 52 million. In 2021, Nigeria’s population is 200 million. UK’s is 67 million. Once it rains, Africans think of women, instead of agriculture!.”

CelebritiesMama Rainbow Remembers Her Husband 37 Years After Death (Pix) by HeWrites(op): 4:10pm On Jan 22, 2021
Veteran Nollywood actress Mama Rainbow has remembered her husband Ayanfemi Phillips 37 years after he died, Igbere TV reports.

The 78-year-old shared a picture of Mr Phillips in an Instagram post on Friday.

She said they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in the 70s.

“37 YEARS AGO JUST STILL LIKE YESTERDAY MY DEAREST HUSBAND ❤️lost my husband some years ago We celebrated our 10-year anniversary in 70s and we were looking forward to many more years to come, but God had a different plan. I miss him every second.

“I find my comfort and strength from the Holy scriptures and remembering how he loved and I can’t never forget how much femi loves me BUT today he has come back @officialfemiphillips @olabisiomolara8 @rotimiashiwaju,” she wrote.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CKWSie4FVaQ/

Born Idowu Philips, Mama Rainbow told PUNCH in 2018 that she was glad she never remarried.

“I had the intention of remarrying after I lost my husband, there was even a time a man visited me in my house when we were all eating with my children and some other youths that stayed with me; he had to ask me if all the youths in my house were my children, I replied him in the affirmative.

“Due to my reply, he asked me a rhetorical question that insinuated he was overwhelmed with the number of children he would have to cater for when he married me. After that time, I never saw him again.

“After this incident, I never thought of getting married again because I was no longer interested because most of them used to lie a lot,” she said.

Phillips worked closely with late patriarch of Nigerian film industry Herbert Ogunde.

Ogunde died on April 4, 1990.

PoliticsInsecurity: Herdsman Can’t Vacate Ondo State, Presidency Replies Akeredolu by HeWrites(op): 8:26am On Jan 20, 2021
The Presidency has expressed displeasure with the order from Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for herders to leave the state’s forest reserves in seven days, Igbere TV reports.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity Garba Shehu in a statement on Tuesday called for restraint and dialogue on the side of the state government and the Fulani communities.

The Presidency said the governor, being a legal practitioner, should not know that he cannot “unilaterally oust thousands of herders who have lived all their lives in the state on account of the infiltration of the forests by criminals”.

“Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, a seasoned lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and indeed, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, has fought crime in his state with passion and commitment, greater sensitivity and compassion for the four years he has run its affairs and, in our view, will be the least expected to unilaterally oust thousands of herders who have lived all their lives in the state on account of the infiltration of the forests by criminals,” the statement reads.

“If this were to be the case, rights groups will be right in expressing worries that the action could set off a chain of events which the makers of our constitution foresaw and tried to guard against.

“We want to make it clear that kidnapping, banditry and rustling are crimes, no matter the motive or who is involved. But, to define crime from the nameplates, as a number of commentators have erroneously done- which group they belong to, the language they speak, their geographical location or their faith is atavistic and cruel.

“…The President, who swore to defend the constitution has spoken against the Indigenous People of Biafra in asking citizens of Northern origin to leave; he did not spare the group based in Sokoto, ‘Muslim Solidarity Forum,’ which asked the Bishop of Sokoto to leave and is prepared to do all that the law permits to protect citizens all over the country in their choice of where they wished to reside and are treated as equal citizens.”

SportsHaruna Babangida Accuses Nuhu Falalu, Kaduna Judge Of Shaving His Head by HeWrites(op): 3:49pm On Jan 19, 2021
A former player of FC Barcelona, Haruna Babangida, has written a letter of complaint to the Grand Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal, Kaduna demanding for justice over a judge who ‘ordered’ for his head to be shaved in court last week in Kaduna.

In the letter of complaint made available to Daily Trust dated Monday, January 18, 2021 and sent to the Grand Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal, Kaduna, the footballer, popularly known as Daddy, accused the judge identified as Nuhu Falalu of defamation of character and assault.

The former Nigerian player, who said he felt embarrassed, disgraced and humiliated over the judge’s actions, is asking the Grand Khadi to grant him damages and penalise the judge.

The Letter

“My name is HARUNA BABANGIDA of the above stated address and I am a professional footballer in Europe, precisely Spain where I have lived and in my carrier as a footballer, I have equally built a reputation as a good footballer and a citizen of the said country i.e. Spain.

“Whereof, my complaint is predicated on the fact that on 14th January, 2021 when I was before the Sharia Court, Magajin Gari, Kaduna, the judge whose name is Nuhu Falalu before whom I appeared, insulted me as an irresponsible person because I have my hair style grown up which he described me as a rascal for leaving the kind of my hair style and also called me useless Christian.

“Sir, I only reported a case of fraud i.e., 419 before the Court, but the said judge ordered and I was detained in a cell and not only that, my hair was cut off in front of everyone in the court room and equally assaulted simply because I only appeared in my professional training outfit as a professional footballer before the court.

“Thus, the said act of Judge Nuhu Falalu of Sharia Court, Magajin Gari, Kaduna has greatly damaged my personal character when he called me names as useless/rascal and stupid in public, and I know that have spent my life and talent responsibly.

“More so, I felt so embarrassed, disgraced, degraded and humiliated. I therefore seek your kind intervention to do justice and grant me damages for the wrong done to me and the judge be penalized.

“Thank you in anticipation that you will do justice to my complaint.”

No comment from Justice Nuhu

Our correspondent was unable to hear from the judge, Falalu Nuhu as he did not respond to several calls and a text message sent to his number.

Our correspondent also visited Court 1 Magajin Gari where Nuhu Falalu presides over but was told that he was not at the court on Tuesday even though he had pending cases and no reason was given for his absence.

FamilyAdekunle Okunuga Suspended As A Doctor In 2015 For Flogging Son In UK Reinstated by HeWrites(op): 6:13am On Jan 18, 2021
A Nigerian consultant anaesthetist Adekunle Okunuga based in the United Kingdom has been reinstated following his suspension from work for beating his son.

The 59-year-old medical personnel, who was arrested after the incident in June 2014, blamed his cultural upbringing in Nigeria for the act, Daily Mail UK reports.

He said corporal punishments are common in Nigeria.

Okunuga caned his son for misbehaving in school and made him stand one leg with his arms in the air while he kicked him.

He also caned the boy’s open palms with a walking stick.

The boy got into trouble in school for not submitting homework, lying to other pupils, using the word ‘rape’ and for stamping in any injured girl during PE lesson.

In 2015, Okunuga’s name was ordered to be removed from the medical register after he was found guilty of professional misconduct by a disciplinary panel.

The doctor, who has been working at the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Lagos, is now free to return to work at the University Hospital Coventry, Igbere TV reports.

“My actions embarrassed the medical profession and brought it into disrepute and as a member of the medical community, I should be role model. I apologised sincerely to the GMC and the wider public,” he was quoted to have said.

“My behaviour was born out of my cultural upbringing, I should have known better and I take full responsibility for my actions. If I were to witness a similar occurrence by one of my colleagues, I would be the first to speak up and take action and report it to the appropriate authorities.

“I have been working abroad but have always given full disclosure of my sanction to all employers and the relevant medical authorities.

“I have attended courses in order to maintain my professional development and am clinically ready to resume practice in the United Kingdom where I could be of tremendous support to the medical community.”

After the incident, he was arrested and convicted at Leamington Spa magistrates court for ill treating a child and was sentenced to eight weeks in jail and ordered to complete 160 hours unpaid work.

The boy was temporarily put in foster care and was later returned to his family.

CrimeLandlord, Wife Cut Tenant's Face Over Quit Notice by HeWrites(op): 5:43am On Jan 16, 2021
A Lagos landowner, Samson Ekweozor, and his wife, Anurika Ekweozor, have allegedly physically assaulted their tenant, Mary Onyian, upon her family’s refusal to prematurely quit an apartment belonging to them at Ikotun-Egbe.

Mary, who narrated her experience, said trouble started after the Ekweozors asked her family to vacate the apartment barely a month after they moved in without a plan to refund the rent paid for the apartment.

The refusal of the Onyian family to move out of the house attracted the landlord's anger, which led to an attack on Mary leaving her face scarred for life.

According to Mary, the landlord and his wife never opened up on the reason for the notice to quit just a month after she and her family moved in.

She said: “We don’t know the reason we were asked to move out. The whole drama started during the lockdown and we had nowhere else to go. I was out of work at that time. We were battling to feed and survive during the lockdown when the landlord and his wife asked us to vacate the apartment, which we had just rented and moved in. Determined to make us leave the apartment, the landlord disconnected our power supply, plunging our apartment into permanent darkness. We resorted to using generators.

"As if disconnecting our power supply was not enough, the landlord disconnected the water supply to our apartment. It was at that point that my husband asked him to refund part of our rent if he truly wanted us to leave. In fact, the reason the landlord and his wife asked us to vacate the apartment is still not clear to us.

“One day, I went to take water from our bowl close to the window, to prepare food for our children and as I was returning to our apartment, our landlord suddenly appeared and held me from behind. His wife used a sharp object to attack me and slash at my face, neck and other parts of my body. Before I knew what was happening, I was covered in blood. It was my screams of pain that caused my husband, who was inside our apartment, to run out. He took one look at me and then took me to the police station, where we reported the case. We were later given a letter and referred to hospital for treatment.

"I spent two weeks at the hospital. In fact, that I didn’t die is nothing short of a miracle. There was so much blood everywhere.”

The victim's husband, Racherry Onyian said he was already planning to go to the police station to report the landlord for disconnecting power and water supplies to his apartment before the attack on his wife.

He said the landlord wanted to kill his wife and should be charged for attempted murder.

He alleged that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), who handled the matter, was biased.

"We just moved into the apartment so there was nothing like debt. I wanted to go and report the minor dispute we had when they attacked my wife.

"When I went to Ikotun Police Station the following day, I was shocked to hear the police classify it as something else. I had expected them to charge the landlord and his wife for attempted murder. What annoyed me most was that someone wanted to kill my wife and the DPO was not seeing it as a case of attempted murder. I just don’t understand it," he said.

Racherry added that the landlord's wife was arrested after much protest but was released following the directive given by the Inspector General of Police that people with minor offences should be allowed to leave cells, Igbere TV reports.

Racherry said he expected that the landlord and his wife would be arrested again but that did not happen.

He said: “When I was not satisfied with the matter, I went to the police station to demand that the case should be reopened, but met a new DPO. They call him Adagba."

Racherry said the new DPO handled the matter just like the old one: with levity.

He said he had to go in search of human rights activists and was directed to the co-founder of Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN), Ebenezer Omejalile.

Omejalile said upon receiving the complaint, the NGO made efforts to reach the former DPO and the new one on the issue but got no positive reply.

He said the human rights group has sent a new petition to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.

"We are hoping that through the intervention of the CP, Mary will get justice, " he said.

When SaharaReporters reached out to Mary on Friday, she said the landlord and his wife had yet to be rearrested but believed she would get justice with the help of her lawyer.

PoliticsFamily Of Nigerian Diplomat Killed In 2019 Ethiopia Crash Sue Boeing by HeWrites(op): 12:14pm On Jan 14, 2021
THE family of a longtime Nigerian diplomat killed in the 2019 crash of a Boeing 737 Max in Ethiopia has joined litigation against the company in U.S. federal court.

Lawyers for heirs of Abiodun Bashua accused Boeing of negligence in development of the Max.

The 67-year-old Bashua had held many foreign service jobs for Nigeria and worked with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa over a 40-year career. He was among the 157 people killed when a Max operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed shortly after takeoff from Addis Ababa.

“Thinking of him sitting in a plane, a place he was very comfortable ... watching a bunch of people falling to the ground and knowing that they were about to perish, knowing that for the first time in a long time he could not do anything about it, is one of those memories that haunts me today,” one of his sons, Lekan Bashua of Chicago, said Wednesday during a news conference organized by the family’s lawyers, Igbere TV reports.

The Bashua family lawsuit, which also named Boeing contractors Rosemount Aerospace and Rockwell Collins Inc., was filed last month in U.S. district court in Chicago, where lawsuits filed by dozens of families have been consolidated into two cases — one for the Ethiopian crash and the other for a 2018 Max crash in Indonesia that killed 189 people.

Most of the other lawsuits were filed in 2019. Lawyers said it took longer for the extended Bashua family to decide on its legal team.

In a statement, Chicago-based Boeing said, “We will never forget the lives lost on board Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302. We are committed to continuing to engage with the families in an effort to resolve the claims.”

Rear Admiral (retired) Ndubuisi Godwin Kanu has died from COVID-19 complications at 78, Igbere TV can confirm.

Speaking to this newspaper's correspondent under the condition of anonymity on Wednesday, a source close to the family of the deceased confirmed that he died in the early hours of Wednesday.

Ndubuisi Kanu was appointed military governor of Imo State, Nigeria in March 1976 during the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo.

He was the first governor after the decree that established the state from part of the old East Central State. He was transferred to become governor of Lagos State in 1977, leaving office in July 1978.

Naval career

Ndubuisi Kanu was born in Abia State in 1943 of Igbo origin. Joining the navy, he went to India for cadet training. His naval career included positions in Personnel, Logistics and Training. He obtained honorary Doctorate Degrees from the Imo State University and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.

In July 1975 as a lieutenant commander he was appointed a member of Murtala Muhammed’s ruling Cabinet, the Supreme Military Council. Appointed governor of Imo State in March 1976, he brought in town planners to prepare a plan for Owerri. Kanu built roads in Owerri metropolis, expanded that number of Local Government Areas to 21 and founded the Imo Broadcasting Service, which went on air in December 1976.[citation needed] He later became Rear Admiral and Naval chief.

After he retired he joined the pro-democracy movement and played a leading role in the agitation for the actualization of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election. He founded and is Chairman of RANGK LTD, a maritime consultancy, is Chairman of the Ohaneze Transition Caretaker Committee (OTC). and was Director of Fidelity Bank PLC. Kanu became a top National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) chieftain and became Chairman of the coalition in 2013.

In May 2008, Kanu called for a return to true federalism in Nigeria. In an interview in November 2008 he attacked what he called Unitarism, the excessive concentration of powers at the centre, and called for fundamental dialog between the different ethnic nationalities of Nigeria.

He attributed the conflict in the Niger Delta to the lack of regional power. In another interview, he pinpointed the second stage of the General Ibrahim Babangida regime as the time when things started to go wrong, with increasingly centralized control.

HealthLiposuction: Abimbola Bamgbose Dies After Botched Plastic Surgery In Turkey by HeWrites(op): 8:43am On Jan 03, 2021
A Nigerian-British woman Abimbola Bamgbose has died following liposuction treatment in Turkey.

Liposuction is a fat-removal procedure used in plastic surgery.

The 38-year-old social worker died in August after buying an overseas package deal with Mono Cosmetic Surgery.

Her husband Moyosore Olowo is suing the firm and the surgeon responsible, Dr Hakan Aydogan, for £1million, claiming medical negligence.

Proceedings have been issued in the Turkish courts.

Mr Olowo told the PA news agency: “She was the backbone of the family.

“My wife was an excellent mum. My son has special needs and she was a calming influence on him.

“Now I am left alone caring for the children and it is really, really painful.”

Ms Bamgbose travelled abroad for the treatment at Mono Cosmetic Surgery Clinic in Izmir, a city on the country’s Aegean coast, Igbere TV reports.

Although the mother-of-three had initially hoped to have surgery in the UK, she looked abroad after finding it was too expensive, Olowo said.

Having compared options, she eventually settled on spending £5,000 in Turkey, with Mono also providing airport transfers and accommodation.

Her husband said she began experiencing severe abdominal pain after receiving the treatment.

Four days later, he said, she was seen by another specialist at the hospital and had a second surgery.

At this point Olowo, who said his wife was his “best friend”, flew to Turkey, where he was told by medical staff at the hospital an error in the initial procedure had led to complications.

After returning home to take care of his family, Olowo then received a WhatsApp call from the surgeon, where he was told his wife had died. The couple, originally from Nigeria, had been together for 15 years, Igbere TV reports.

In the post-mortem examination, the North West Kent Coroner Service found Bamgbose died from peritonitis and multi-organ failure following a complication of the liposuction surgery.

Olowo said his “beautiful” wife had suffered from low self-esteem after giving birth to her three children, Morayo, 13, Eyitayo, 10 and Titilayomi, seven.

He has not been able to return to work as a Network Rail contractor since she died because of childcare commitments.

The bereaved husband said he would advise anyone thinking of having surgery in Turkey to “not go”.

“I am not going to label all medical practitioners in Turkey as below par, but there is the language barrier,” he said.

He said he fears communication issues may have contributed to signs of her complications being missed.

Olowo’s Turkish lawyer Burcu Holmgren said “Abimbola’s death is due to medical negligence.”

PoliticsTinubu: Expose Me If You Can — Pastor Tunde Bakare Dares Fani-kayode by HeWrites(op): 11:45am On Dec 30, 2020
Serving overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly (LRA), Pastor Tunde Bakare has dared a former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode to “expose” him for speaking glowingly of a former governor of Lagos Bola Tinubu, Igbere TV reports.

Bakare had last week likened Tinubu to Jephthah in the Bible who delivered his people despite the circumstances of his birth.

Mr Fani-Kayode then wrote a scathing article titled ‘Who is squeezing Bakare’s balls?’ In the article, he wondered if the clergyman was being blackmailed to turn around to praise Tinubu after being known to be the former governor’s critic.

Reacting to the ex-minister’s comments, Bakare in an open letter sent to the national publicity secretary of Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, dared Fani-Kayode to publish whatever he has on him.

“I have only one appeal to make through you to him: Tell him to expose my supposed ‘ugly past of 1990’ he must know about and the shady deals involving some bank that just changed hands that involved me in any shape or manner,” the cleric wrote.

“If Femi does not do so as soon as possible then he has published deliberate falsehood about me. I will await this publication soonest.

“For the sake of Femi’s mother, who I ministered Christ to in their Papa home while Femi himself was still in the grip of Satan, I will hold my peace for now.

“My last word to you and to the likes of Femi is that 10,000 times 10,000 of Tinubu or any one for that matter has nothing on me to make me say the words I spoke for and against him either in the past or now.

“If you or him or any other person know of any shady deal that I have done with any individual, corporation or government, please feel free to publish it.”
https://igberetvnews.com/1377218/tinubu-expose-can-pastor-tunde-bakare-dares-fani-kayode/

Meanwhile, Igbere TV reports that Fani-Kayode responded to the open letter, urging Bakare to address him directly.

He wrote;
“Yinka, tell Tunde Arewa that I only asked questions. I made no assertions & indulged in no falsehood. I simply asked him to clear the air. Can't we ask questions? Is he God? Why is he so upset? Why can't he just answer the questions rather than get his knickers in a twist?

“In any case why is he sending you to me? If he is a man let him reach me himself and not send you to me. I do not react well to threats and you are not his messenger. If he has anything to say to me let him say it. I am waiting. And I will respond to him fire for fire.

“As for my past he can say what he likes. Nothing is hidden. I have given my testimony publicly many times including before the Nigerian Senate & I have always said that I am a living manifestation of God's mercy &grace. Everyone has a past.No-one is an angel, including him.

“I was troubled 30 years ago. I went to Bible school in Ghana. God delivered me and my life was never the same again. End of story. That is my testimony and it is a great and miraculous one. That is why I am a believer. That is why I am so proud of the God that I serve.

“That is why I love Him so much & will do anything for Him. Thanks be to God. Unlike others I do not hide my past but instead I tell the world about how God delivered me from it. And if the devil wants to use my past against me I will use his future against him. Let God judge!”

A former presidential aspirant Adamu Garba says he would have taken legal action against CNN following its investigation on the October 20 Lekki shooting released on Wednesday, Igbere TV reports.

The network said its findings revealed the Nigerian Army opened fire at protesters, contrary to claims that blank bullets were used.

In reaction, Mr Garba who has a pending suit against Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said CNN was only doing its job.

He tweeted: “I would have sued CNN if they instigated or sponsored people of Nigeria against its Govt. But one thing is clear. CNN is doing its job: Investigative & not ‘Conclusive’ reporting.

“Unlike Jack who interfered directly. While you enjoy the fleet, wait for response from authorities.”

PoliticsPhotos From The Requiem Mass Of Pupils Killed In Fatal Accident In Enugu by HeWrites(op): 6:09am On Nov 10, 2020
It was a sad day in Enugu state today November 9, as the state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, joined the Catholic faithful and families of eight pupils of Presentation Nursery and Primary School, Awgu, who died in a recent fatal road accident in Awgu Local Government Area of the state, to celebrate a Requiem Mass for them at the school premises, in Awgu town, Igbere TV reports.

The accident happened on October 28.

Gov. Ugwuanyi who described the eight pupils as “angles” bade farewell to them, their late teacher, Emmanuella Chukwugbo and the school bus driver, Chukwu Basil, as well as other victims.

“Our children; our angels; had gone too soon and too suddenly; for no fault of their own.

They were too innocent to have offended anyone; too young to have known sin; they only attended the day’s school; to acquire knowledge and high moral values; Yes, they were on their way home; to unite, as usual, with their beloved parents and siblings; a journey home that was never completed; what a tragedy!

As Christians, we submit to the will of the most High God, who alone, knows why it happened. We accept our faith and find consolation in the conviction that our deceased angels are early arrivals in heaven; already seated in the midst of the heavenly host, praising God and glorifying his name”.

While sympathizing with the management of the school, Igbere TV reports that Gov. Ugwuanyi donated a brand new 18-seater bus to the school and promised to erect a monument at the scene of the accident to immortalize the school children.
