Two more patients have recovered from coronavirus infection in Enugu State and are being assessed for discharge from the state facilities, the Enugu State Government has said.
The State Commissioner for Information, Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu, disclosed this in a statement made available to Igbere TV on Tuesday in Enugu.
The statement read; “The Enugu State Ministry of Health wishes to announce that 2 more cases out of the previously active COVID-19 cases undergoing treatment in Enugu State have tested negative and are being assessed for discharge from the isolation and treatment centre.
“However, the state has unfortunately received 3 new results of persons who have tested positive for the virus.
“This means that Enugu State has had 15 cases in all, with 9 active cases and 6 cases discharged after testing negative.
“The two cases that have tested negative are case number 5 and her daughter who is case number 9.
“The 3 new positive cases, who entered Enugu State illegally during this ban on inter-state transportation, are as follows:
“Case 13 is a 25 year old man from Ondo State who lives in Lagos and made his way first to Akwa Ibom, then to Rivers State and finally to Obollo Afor in Udenu LGA of Enugu State, all within the period of closure of all land boundaries and inter-state movement. He developed symptoms while at Obollo Afor, the health authorities were alerted, he was tested and his result came out positive.
“Case 14 is a 38 year old male, from Okpuje in Nsukka LGA, who lives in Nassarawa State, and found his way back to Enugu State during the same period of lockdown.
“On suspecting he may have contacted the virus, he initially went into self-quarantine in a hotel at Nsukka. He subsequently developed symptoms and alerted the health authorities. He was tested and his test result also came back positive.
“Case 15 is a 28 year old female and a widow who hails from Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State and lives in Lagos State with her husband. She recently lost her husband in Lagos and was able to smuggle her husbands corpse back to Enugu State for burial, despite the lockdown in Lagos State and the national ban on inter-state movement.
“Her actions raised suspicion and the health authorities were alerted. She was subsequently tested and her result came back positive.
“These unfortunate figures are coming up as a result of individuals who have deliberately disobeyed the lockdown order and inter-state transportation as ordered by the Federal and State governments.
“In these times, we all need to comply strictly with all measures and regulations and exercise restraint from behaviours that will put others at risk.
“The good people of Enugu State are still encouraged to continue to comply with the directives of the Federal and Enugu State governments on containment of the spread of COVID-19 as well as the precautionary measures in the public health advisory of the Federal Ministry of Health, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, and the Enugu State Ministry of Health.
“The best options remain:
“Stay home when it is not necessary to go out. Wear a facemask/covering whenever you must go out.
“Keep a safe distance from other people at all times, which is social / physical distancing and avoid crowded places.
“Practice good respiratory hygiene (when coughing or sneezing)
“Clean surfaces with a 1 in 6 concentration of bleach and water.
“Wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds under running water as often as possible
“And when facilities for hand washing are unavailable, sanitize your hands as often as possible using an alcohol based hand sanitizer.”

For many husbands, having the opportunity to be able to show gratitude to their wives by providing for them is the ultimate dream.
The publisher of popular newspaper platform, Igbere TV, Emeh James Anyalekwa, has set the bar high on this matter.
Emeh James decided to spoil his wife and spend big on her on her birthday which was celebrated yesterday, April 17, as he surprised his partner by buying her a new ride as a birthday present.
Mr. James, who also doubles as the National President, Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), narrates how many ladies in his hometown rejected him due to his financial status before he finally met his ʼangelʼ who decided to be with him through his journey to success.
To appreciate his beautiful wife for being with him through his grass to grace journey, the publisher got her a new Nissan Altima.
Taking to his official Facebook handle, Mr. James wrote;
“On January 1 2012, I made a new year resolution. I wanted to get married in 2015.
“Koboless, and at the time still squatting with a friend in a two rooms accommodation , based on faith, I picked a date and asked God to lead me to my bride.
“From 2012 to December 2013 I limited my search within my home town Igbere.
“All the Igbere Spinsters I met turned down the idea of marriage, perhaps due to my penury.
“Some wanted to keep me in friends zone, some stopped picking my calls after visiting my residence for the first time.
“On 30th Dec. 2013. I Made up my mind to look elsewhere, my bride may not be in Igbere.
“I told my dad and mum to forget their dream of having a daughter Inlaw from Igbere. They were disappointed but Daddy said why I didnt tell him I was ready. Few days later he introduced me to a beautiful girl, "She's an angel, I have been observing her from a distance", dad said.
“When we eventually met, we fell in love instantly, at first sight.
“Within four weeks, I proposed, and she said yes. She didn't care about my financial status. She didn't care that I was yet to get a befitting accommodation. She only asked me the plans, I told her and she keyed into it.
“She believed in me and was willing to join forces to bring our shared vision to fruition.
“Today, as the scriptures say, "he who found a good wife, obtaineth favour". Our marriage has brought FAVOUR beyond measure.
“Working together, we have achieved great successes I may not have achieved alone. We have built brands, houses, cars and every good thing that life could offer.
“Above all, God has blessed us with wonderful three kids.
“I decided to write this to encourage both young men and women who are ready to settle down but still searching. Look at the potential not the current status. Some of the greatest men and women you know today had a very humble beginning.
“This is a special birthday gift to my sweet heart, more ahead.”

BREAKING!! Justice Abang Sacked from Suswan’s Case Days After Order to Arrest Igbere TV Boss
The Court of Appeal on Wednesday sacked Justice Okon Abang from hearing a case against former governor of Benue, Gabriel Suswam alongside Okolobia Okpanachi, his former Commissioner of Finance, Igbere TV reports.
This is coming barely 2 weeks after Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the arrest of the publisher of Igbere TV News ,Emeh James Anyalekwa.
Abang's order followed a publication by Nigerian Concord, claiming the court had concluded plans to jail at all cost, a former Benue governor Gabriel Suswam, who is standing trial over alleged N3.1 billion fraud; which was republished by Igbere TV while also giving full credits to the online platform (Nigerian Concord) on whose website the story first appeared.
The former governor is being accused of diverting N3.1 billion from the proceeds of the sale of shares owned by Benue Government since 2015.
Igbere TV recalls that Abang took over the trial of Suswam, following the withdrawal of Justice Mohammed.
Justice Mohammed had cited a publication by Sahara Reporters which accused him of having been compromised to give Suswam a soft landing as his reason to withdraw from the case.
However, in a unanimous judgment, the appellate court ordered that the case should be sent back to Justice Mohammed of the same court for continuation of trial.
Justice Emmanuel Agim who delivered the judgment, also ordered that Justice Mohammed who had shown unjustified reluctance in entertaining the case should give the trial an accelerated hearing.
The court held that Justice Mohammed was wrong to have recuse himself from conducting the trial on account of fear, when all the parties had expressed confidence in him.
It held that its decision to return the case back to Justice Mohammed was to correct the error made by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court by re-assigning the case to him.
Justice Agim further held that the exercise of discretion should be in a rational manner and properly to the satisfaction of all the parties.
A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of former Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Abdullahi Inde Dikko over his continued failure to attend court to answer to a charge of fraud brought against him and two others by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).
Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, while ordering Dikko’s arrest on Monday, noted that his lawyer, Solomon Akuma (SAN) who, on the last adjourned date, undertook to ensure that his client attends court today, only turned around to present a medical report, claiming Dikko was critically ill and on admission in London.
Justice Ojukwu noted that Dikko’s address, as shown on the medical report – No: N6 Amhed Musa Crescent Jabi, Abuja – did not support his lawyer’s claim that Dikko was on admission in a London hospital.
The judge, however, noted that should the prosecution, in executing the bench warrant discovers that Dikko is actually on admission in a London hospital, the execution shall be suspended.
The judge added that otherwise, the prosecution should arrest Dikko and produce him in court on March 16, 2020 which is the next adjourned date for arraignment.
In the charge marked: “FHC/ABJ/CR/21/2019, Dikko is named with two others – a former Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Finance, Administration and Technical Services, Garba Makarfi and Umar Hussaini, a lawyer and owner of Capital Law firm – as defendants.
Dikko, Makarfi and Hussaini are, among others, accused of inducing the Managing Director of Cambial Limited, Yemi Obadeyi, to pay N1.1 billion (N1,100, 952,380.96) into the account of Capital Law Office as a refundable “completion security deposit” for the purchase of 120 units of duplexes as residential accommodation for officers of the Nigeria Customs Service.
Hussaini was said to have distributed the money into various other bank accounts and for his part in the deal, he was rewarded with the sum of $3 million.

Biafra War: People Were Treated In The Most Humane Way - Buhari Tells EU Commissioner
President Muhammadu Buhari Friday in Abuja said though it might take a bit longer, the nation will surely put the issues associated with the troubles in the Northeast in order and move ahead, IGBERE TV reports.
Speaking while receiving Janez Lenarcic, the European Union (EU) Commissioner for Crisis Management in State House, President Buhari said, “If we were capable to fight a 30-month civil war and reorganised our country, I wonder why people are thinking that Nigeria cannot do it.
“I assure you of Nigeria’s commitment to enhance and deepen cooperation with the EU in all areas. Our priorities in the next level is to ensure that Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, are rehabilitated so that livelihood should be established and the children should not lose the opportunity to go back to school, which is very important for the future of that area and Nigeria generally.
“We have the experience of the civil war. I could recall the role of the military, the army, each commander had in his pocket how to behave himself and how to allow international bodies like yourself to go round and see for themselves that people are treated in the most humane way. We have this experience and I assure you that we also have this confidence in your organisation. That is why I feel that Nigeria is capable of handling this crisis, it may take long but we are capable of handling it.”
The Nigerian leader also appreciated the recent meeting in Germany which deliberated on the happenings in Libya.
“The important thing really is weapons reaching the Sahel; the instability it is causing. Look at the casualties in Mauritania, Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali; Libya has a direct impact on the stability of the Sahel. As for Boko Haram, we try to disabuse the mind of the people and I think our people now understand the basic dishonesty in it. With my experience personally in the civil war, I am sure we will get over it.”
President Buhari further assured that the newly created Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, will do a splendid job of managing the various humanitarian issues evolving from the Northeast:
“I assure you that we are aware of these problems and we will continue to do our best. The newly created Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs is coordinating NEMA and others, to make sure that whatever resources we get are well utilised. The ministry will be accountable to the government instead of having too many bodies doing the same thing. We are also reaching out to foreign countries explaining to them our position, and we are confident we will get over it.”
The EU Commissioner emphasized that Nigeria plays a big role in the African continent and globally in economic, social and other spheres and asked for the development of a plan between the EU and Nigeria concerning the issues in the Northeast. He said he had visited Borno State and appreciates government’s efforts to end the conflict there.
“We would like to support your efforts. We believe all relevant actors; military, civilian as well as humanitarian should come together. The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs is suggesting such high level dialogue.
“In situations such as what we have in the northeast, international law and international humanitarian law should apply. We believe in your efforts to end the conflict; military effort alone probably will not be sufficient without identifying and addressing the socio-economic factors causing it, “he stated.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on the Nigerian people to be hopeful that the country will someday “fulfil its potential as the land of Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress.”
Atiku spoke on Wednesday in reaction to the Supreme Court’s judgement on Tuesday which sacked Emeka Ihedioha as governor of Imo State and ordered the swearing-in of Hope Uzodinma as governor, Igbere TV reports .
In a statement shared on social media, the former number two citizen said he was convinced Mr Ihedioha would overcome the setback.
“With regards to the judgment of the Supreme Court, which nullified the election of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Emeka Ihedioha, as Governor of the state of Imo, I can only say that since the Supreme Court is final, we must accept its judgment, however unexpected and unpalatable it may be. The Rule of law must guide our paths even if logic sheds light on a different path,” Atiku said.
“Let me state unequivocally that I solidarise with Emeka Ihedioha, a man I know to be a great leader of men and resources. In the fullness of time, I am convinced that he will overcome this setback and emerge stronger.
“I also stand fully with the Peoples Democratic Party. In good and bad times, we must continue to be the object of hope that the Nigerian people have for their escape from the prevailing despotism and despair that has gripped almost every aspect of our national life. We provided genuine democracy for this nation once before, and I believe it is our destiny to democratically restore what has been lost due to the encroachment of anti-democratic agents.
“Philosophers have said that tough times never last, but that tough people do. I urge the people of Imo and the entirety of the Nigerian people not to give in to despair. This nation has gone through despotic times before, and we have survived them and thrived. I am very confident that this history will repeat itself.
“My greatest desire, and one I hope to see again in my lifetime, is that Nigeria will fulfil its potential as the land of Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress. These four ideals have been missing from our borders for a while, and all freedom-loving Nigerians ought to henceforth work together to bring them back. So help us God.”

“Once and final response: I do not respond to every dimwit who never voted in Kaduna State on my TL. I am trying to govern our state and disinterested in being a public commentator/responder to publicity/follower-seeking, anonymous and jobless clowns with neither credentials nor address,” he said.
He then added: “Afterword: The most efficient and effective way to hurt those seeking unearned attention, cheap retweets and Twitter following is to ignore them. Depression and sychosis set in for ignored inanities and non-entities, manifesting into anger, insults and fabrications. I will forgive you!”
Yesufu, inter alia, has been very vocal in her criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and his handling of the kidnap of Chibok girls and others who are still in Boko Haram captivity.
The recent face-off between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran could be the reason why the Ukrainian plane, with 176 people on board, was shot down outside Tehran by Iranian forces, as the conflict between the duo involves aerial fighting.
According to Ukraine Foreign Minister, Vadym Prystaiko, the passenger jet was carrying 82 Iranians and 63 Canadians.
Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, during a news conference said; “We have intelligence from multiple sources including our allies and our own intelligence. The evidence indicates that the plane was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile.” adding that the attack may have been unintentional.
The recent face-off between the two countries started after the United States killed Iranian Major-General Qassem Soleimani, head of the elite Quds Force and architect of Iran’s spreading military influence in the Middle East, in an air strike last Friday at Baghdad airport.
A US newspaper website in its report on Thursday said it obtained a 10 seconds video which appears to show an Iranian missile hitting a plane near Tehran’s airport, the area where a Ukrainian jet crashed on Wednesday, killing all 176 people on board.
Iran, which is currently under sanction by the United States, said it will not hand over black box flight recorders recovered from a plane that went down just minutes after taking off from Tehran's airport to the manufacturer, Boeing or to the US; a statement which has raised eyebrows making many to believe that the plane was attacked by Iran.
Findings made by Igbere TV shows that under global aviation rules, Iran has the right to lead the investigation of the alleged crash.
It was further gathered that to investigate a plane crash, manufacturers are typically involved and only few countries excluding Iran are capable of analysing black boxes.

Plans are underway for the Akwa Ibom State owned and operated Airline, IbomAir to begin international flights, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem has said.
This to him is sequel to the high demands by Cameroonians to fly directly into Nigeria rather than flying to Lome(Togo) before connecting a flight to Abuja or Lagos, Igbere TV reports.
Briefing newsmen at the end of the last State Executive Council Meeting for 2019, the SSG said that based on the high demand, the IbomAir will soon begin scheduled flights on Cameroon-Nigeria route.
He revealed that Cameroon to Uyo, Abuja or Lagos was within the approved routes of Ibom Air, adding that the airline will connect Douala with Abuja, Lagos or Uyo in its flight operations.
“As you can see, the International Terminal Building of our airport is coming up very soon; we are going to have our international terminal ready for international flights before year 2020 runs out,” he added.
He said the executive council meeting also reviewed the year 2019 in retrospect, and according to Dr Ekuwem, among the deliberations, was minimizing truancy in the civil service to enhance productivity.
He disclosed that the State Civil Service is to be fully automated using Information And Communication Technology (ICT) for optimal performance and enhancement of productivity of the workforce.
“There will be an increase in the number of road construction, next year, we will have a smart Akwa Ibom State, an intelligent state and this means computerization and ICT based automation of operations within the state civil service.
“Today, we took a decision that human resources (HR) and asset management, productivity of staff, performance, assessment, recruitment, employment, growth, retirement, pension and gratuity within the state civil service will be one click away. You know what that means, we will save time”, he explained.
The SSG noted that Governor Udom Emmanuel has remained undeterred in the socio-economic development of the state which he said was evident in the massive road infrastructure, inauguration of industries, investment in the power sector which would provide electricity to all by 2021, investment in aviation sector especially, the IbomAir, flag-off of the reconstruction of Ibom Blue Sea Science Park, 21 Storey Intelligent Building, and many other projects.
