Morning guys ah need your help and advice.......... I'm a medical aspirant , MBBS precisely, like I've been fighting for MBBS since 2013 yet, still haven't gotten it..huh.... Please guys, ah need your advice.. I've decided to apply this year again for same MBBS , Ambrose alli University ekpoma ( AAU) though I'm yet to get the jamb form... Please guys, your advice will be honored...
The bitter truth is that just few of those that aspire to become medical doctors eventually become doctors. I remember my secondary school, almost all science students had focus to study medicine, only two of us made it.
Have an alternative course on ur mind, if medicine proves too stubborn to grab, opt for the other. Its all about passion, make urself like anything u do even u never planned to venture into it, nd u will flourish in d profession.
All disciplines have their uniqueness...

That right there is pure false information. Why cant you just appreciate your course without trying to compare wit MBBS? Just speaks volume on your inferiority complex.

Average salaries of jobs in the US from a reputable website:
Dentist --------->$230,000
Internal medicine physicians---->$250,000
General practice physicians----->$216,000

Average tuition fees in the US
Dentistry--------->$18,000
Medicine---------->$13,000

Thats def not ten-fold. Dont spread wrong infos
u didn't even include d anesthesiologists, surgeons, obstetrician, gynecologists nd some other ones. They all earn more than all those there..

Pls google top 10 highest paid profession in America

i hate comparing. But when you downgrade someone profession without proof. I will react. An oral surgery can cost you nothing less than 300k the same goes with dental implantation. Meet a dentist and ask questions b4 coming here to Spill out trash
U dont like comparing yet u came onto a platform meant for discussing medicine and claimed dentists are richer and more successful. That's very childish.
Besides, oral surgeries more than 300k, that's very very much o, isn't it?
Especially for d acclaimed highest paid profession in d US!!!!!

lol really. I should ask you to check your google again so you can confirm. An average dentist earn more than d prime minister of the uk. Dentist tops the highest earnings in the US. Google it yourself. You think say nah beans to send person go dental school. D money used to train a dentist will send 10 phyisicians to medical school.
I just wanna post d link here but my phone is giving me serious issue.
U may help us wt a link to d site that says d dentists are d highest earners in d US.
Readers should pls google and see who's lying here...

from statistic dentist are richer than physicians but not visible
Just ignorance, go to Google and check the highest paid profession in U.S.A. Almost d top 10 is dominated by doctors in various disciplines. I doubt if dentists even made the first 50 on d list. U think say na 5000 or 10000 naira dental procedures money go come...
Abeg no let us derail the thread jare, I see all these as inferiority complex...

seriously. Mayb you mixed a dental hygienist for a dentist. Cos that not possible
I know what Im saying and Im not mistaking anyone for d other. Is it that they are paid more than doctors in hospitals or private practice fetched them more than doctors. In fact, dental procedures are always very cheap compared to surgical procedures carried out by doctors., so there's no way dentists will make more than doctors in private practice and Im speaking from experience here. Lets just not blow the trumpet here because it is not needed, just wanna reply ur ignorant blabbing.

And if u insist, explain what u mean by they being richer and more successful..

y do medical students regret doing medicine after graduating
They don't regret, they may lament though simply because they are not appreciated in this country. Go to d developed nations and see how doctors live, some consultants can even afford private jets.
I studied in Nigeria, spent 9 yrs in school without repeating a class. Yet with d situation of things in this country, if I were to start all over again, Id still go for medicine.

NYSC › 2,500 Medical Graduates May Miss NYSC – Reps by heykims(op): 7:50am On Nov 04, 2015
The House of Representatives said on Tuesday that over 2,500 graduate doctors might miss participating in the 2015 Batch ‘B’ National Youth Service Corps due to delays created by the Nigerian Medical and Dental Council.
It noted that the graduates, who had completed their internship, had not been issued Permanent Licence by the Council, a prerequisite for participating in the mandatory one-year NYSC program.
In a resolution members passed in Abuja, the House noted that while the graduates were not responsible for the delay, the same NMDC had instructed the authorities of the NYSC not to admit any of them into camps without a permanent licence.
A member who raised the issue under matters of urgent public importance, Mr. Oladele George, informed the House that the temporary licence held by the doctors did not grant them entry into NYSC camps.
“The issue of giving these young professionals permanent licence should not take more than one week.
“But, now it has taken months and yet no permanent licence for these graduates.
“Nigeria risks a vacuum of over 2,500 medical professionals if these doctors do not go for their service in batch ‘B’ for 2015,” he added.
The session, which was presided over by the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, advised the NMDC to waive the rule by allowing the graduates to enrol for their youth service, “pending when permanent licences will be issued to them.”
The House stated that all graduate doctors, who had fulfilled the requirements for the permanent licence, including payment of relevant fees, should be granted access into camps.
It added that the delay in the issuance of the licence could not be blamed on the doctors but on the NMDC.
The House further directed its Committee on Health Services to intervene and find out why the medical council was delaying the graduates after they had satisfied the requirements for the licence.
The resolution of the House received unanimous backing by lawmakers through a voice vote of a “yes.”

With this needless review, it seems doctors should be considering going for service one and half years after commencement of housemanship. Now that it is now even 2 batches a year, it might turn to 2 years for some innocent doctors.

Education › Medical Students To Spend 7 Years In Nigerian Universities by heykims(op): 1:02pm On Nov 03, 2015
THE National Universities Commission (NUC) has developed new Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards for training of doctors in universities with medical programme now extended to seven years duration. Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Julius Okojie, presented the reviewed curriculum to the stakeholders at a three-day capacity development programme for staff of medical schools in Nigerian universities.

He said the new benchmark minimum academic standard was competency-based and would substantially address most of the challenges faced the institutions in the training of doctors in the country. Okojie noted that those that people trust their lives must be adequately trained and competent to discharge their responsibilities efficiently.

He said the workshop was to enable the stakeholders brainstorm as well as fine- tune the draft document. The curriculum review was necessitated by the fact that the frontier of knowledge in all academic disciplines had been advancing with new information generated as a result of research. Other compelling reasons included the need to update the standard and relevance of university education in the country as well as to integrate entrepreneurial studies as essential new platforms that would guarantee all graduates from Nigerian universities the knowledge of appropriate skills, competences and dispositions that would make them globally competitive and capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.

Okojie said: "We must built some good quality hospitals and make facilities available for the students who are coming out with competences and skills to work. No doctor would want to work without equipment. "We are trying to look at it from holistic view. Good learning and teaching environment; good medical centres and the management of resources itself," he said.

Anyway, u likely have Rhinosinusitis may be allergic nd antibiotic shouldn't be d first line therapy.
