CrimeFor Helping A Tenant, Man Stabs His Blood Brother To Death by HighChief4(op): 4:37pm On Jan 24, 2012
Anger is a momentary madness, so control your passion or it will control you – Horace.
THESE words of wisdom of a Roman poet was not heeded by Mufutau Babatunde who lives at Ayekale area of Ibadan, Oyo State, and this caused him to abruptly terminate the life of his own blood brother, Moruf Babatunde, on January 2, 2012 by stabbing him on the neck with a knife.
We gathered that Mufutau and his elder brother, Moruf were born of the same parents. Though the Babatundes are from Ora-Igbomina in Kwara State, they were fortunate to have their father erected a building at Ayekale Community in Ibadan before his death. Mufutau chose to live in one of the rooms in the house with his wife and kids while his brother, Moruf was in Lagos working as a security guard.

Late Moruf was reported to have come to Ibadan some months ago at the insistence of his junior brother, Mufutau, who felt he was not doing well in Lagos. The brothers started living together in Mufutau’s room. However, their stay together ceased on Monday, January 2. While Mufutau is currently cooling his heels in detention at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan, pending the time investigations on his case would be concluded and he would be charged to court, his brother, Moruf, is already six feet down below, covered with earth.
Investigations revealed that the suspect’s action was as a result of his anger against his brother who decided to help one of the tenants in their father’s house to re-tie a broken rope on which they were spreading washed clothes in their compound.

On the fateful day, the female tenant had reportedly approached Mufutau first, pleading with him to help her tie the rope which broke. His negative response to her made her approach Mufutau’s senior brother to seek his assistance, which he willingly obliged. Mufutau had reportedly felt so much anger against his brother for yielding to the woman’s request and had threatened to go and cut the rope back.

Unable to comprehend why his brother was reacting over such a trivial matter, Moruf was said to have warned him against carrying out his threat to cut the rope. However, Mufutau did not heed his brother’s warning as he went ahead to cut the rope. Miffed by this lack of respect for him, Moruf had reportedly gone after his brother. As he caught up with him, he reportedly held him by his shirt from the back to castigate him for his behaviour.
Blinded with fury, however, Mufutau had allegedly turned his head towards his brother and used the knife he had earlier used in cutting the rope to stab his brother on the neck on the jugular vein. Immediately, he committed the act, he reportedly ran away while his brother was bleeding profusely from the point of injury. Neighbours who saw what happened made an attempt to rush him to the hospital but he gave up the ghost before he could get medical attention.

Hell was let loose in the area as the youths were reported to have gone after Mufutau, and when they caught up with him, he was beaten black and blue before he was rescued by the police from Monatan Division. His case was eventually transferred from there to the Homicide Section of the State CID.

In an encounter with him at the State CID, We sought to know the reason behind his action and Mufutau had none than to claim that he must have been hypnotised or pushed by forces beyond his control to kill his brother, though he said he had no intention of killing his brother.
According to 40-year-old Mufutau who said he was a fashion designer, “I was the one who advised my brother to come to Ibadan when he told me the job he was doing in Lagos was not going well. His wife and children are in Ondo State and my own wife had gone to look after her sick mother, so I was alone in my room. I asked my brother to come to Ibadan and we secured a job for him as a security man. He joined me in August 2011.
“We had no problem with each other because most of the time, he would be leaving for work at the time I would be arriving from my shop and would come in the morning when I would be leaving for my shop. We were like this until the devil reared his ugly head on January 2. On the previous day, that is, January 1, I went for a muslim prayer vigil and came back in the morning. My brother was the one who went to buy eggs for us to fry to eat bread.

“I did not eat mine that day because I went to some friends’ house to celebrate the new year with them. On January 2, my brother returned from work and when I wanted to call someone to help me fry my eggs, my elder brother volunteered to do it for me and he did. When I finished eating, I went outside. That was when one of our tenants went to spread her clothes on the line and the line broke.
“She came to me and said I should help her but I replied her by asking whether she could not call her husband. She then said that if I would not help her she would go to my brother to seek his help. I replied her again that my brother is not anybody’s slave. I then told my brother not to tie the line for her and if he did, I would cut it.

“I went inside and my brother went to tie the rope. After he did, he came to me and dared me to go and cut the rope, hitting me where I laid. I could not touch him because he’s my elder brother. I took my phone and called the first born of our parents to narrate what happened and he admonished me to be patient. I went back inside and thinking that my brother had gone out, I took a knife and went to cut the rope.
“As I left the rope after cutting to enter the house, my brother held me from the back. In anger, I stabbed him on the neck with the knife I was holding. He screamed and that attracted people’s attention. When I saw blood too, I was scared and I left the place. I was on my way to the police station to report myself when I was mobbed by youths in our area. I never intended to kill my brother. It was the work of the devil.” The deceased had since been buried according to Islamic rites.

Confirming the story, the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr Femi Okanlawon, a Superintendent of Police, told us that the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations

Ofcourse they should not only be disliked but dispersed to the vulture for fleecing their unsuspecting-miracle-seeking members. How many designers did Jesus wear when He lived, Jesus never had a personal donkey, Jesus never lived in a mansion. Jesus mingled with the poor and had his followers sell their wealths to follow Him.

Now tell me, how do you respect a pastor that has a fleet of 5private jets. How do you respect a pastor that has over 40 SUVs. How many church oversears visits his poor members to pay attention how they are living, pls dont tell me they are busy cos even Jesus had time to visit the poor.

Nigeria's biggest problem is that we are too religious and this beclouds our senses of judgment. These pastors are frauds and I dont know if its a blackman thing or something cos even the Pope still flies Alitalia which is a publich carrier flight. Honestly, any pastor that is measuring diiicks with politicians on who has more money deserves to be stoned to death. God indeed is a patience God

EducationNigerian Quadruplets Graduate With Masters Same Day In Uk by HighChief4(op): 10:21pm On Jan 23, 2012

Graduating from university is normally an occasion for a family get-together. And this was certainly a big celebration for the Ogunsanya quadruplets who were handed their well-deserved degrees from the same university on the same day.

The 23-year-old quads, identical sisters and the oldest by four minutes, Toks and Temi Ogunsanya, and identical brothers, Tobi and Tolu, graduated from Warwick University with Master Degrees.

And there was not a jot of sibling rivalry as all four have landed jobs in the City already.

Toks graduated with an MEng in manufacturing and engineering and Temi, Tobi and Tolu all gained an MSC in management from Warwick Business School.

‘The fact that we all chose to study at the University of Warwick was a natural decision,’ says Tobi, who thinks a bit of sibling rivalry is essential for success.

‘We are a close-knit family and were all attracted by the strength of the courses on offer.

‘We all gravitated to similar courses because we’ve always been interested in business and management and our father is a successful businessman in Nigeria.’

The brothers and sisters are so close they were even attracted to the same sort of courses.

The quads, originally from Lagos, Nigeria, have been living in the UK since the age of seven when they began boarding schools before heading to Warwick University. Since leaving university they have all landed top city jobs.

Toks is due to start working for RBS in London later this year, Temi, who interned at Santander over the summer, has been offered a permanent position with the bank, and Tolu is due to start working for one of the ‘Big 4’ accountancy firms in the City.

“Our parents are four times as proud of us,” added Tobi, who is mulling over two offers from two major City firms.

‘They’ve supported us financially and have encouraged us all the way - without their help we wouldn’t be here today,” he said.

The body of 24-year-old Ade Dowo, a humpback, who has been declared missing since January 13, has been found mutilated and dumped in a a bush at Ago-Alaye in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Speaking with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Odigbo, near Ondo on Tuesday, a source close to the victim’s family, who declined to be identified, said that Dowo went missing on Friday morning.

“Ade was an Senior Secondary School (SSS 3) pupil in a private school who lived with his parents at Bashorun Quarters at Ago-Alaye area in Odigbo,” said the source.

The source also alleged that a “very pretty” girl passed the night with Dowo on that fateful Friday night.

“It was suspected that four assailants used the girl as bait and as Ade was seeing her off around 5 a.m. they pounced on him and took him away to an unknown destination,” the source told NAN.

The mother of the deceased, Mrs Lydia Dowo, said that Ade, whom she described as very brilliant in his studies, was her only son out of six children.

“I went through series of ordeals to bring him up; he only started walking at the age of 12, the only place he goes to is his school or on short errands,” she said.

The Divisional Police Officer in Odigbo, CSP. Adekimi Ojo, who confirmed the incident, said that one of the four suspects had already been arrested.

“The hump of the deceased was removed which leads us to believe it was used for ritual purposes, the suspect we apprehended led us to the body,” he said.

“The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary of a private hospital in Ore. Our investigation into the case still continues,” the DPO said

PoliticsMan Stabs Girlfriend To Death, Attempts Suicide by HighChief4(op): 9:16pm On Jan 19, 2012
Fresh facts have emerged about the lady, Isima Ajayi, who was murdered by her lover at the Mofoluku, Oshodi area of Lagos State.

The Nigerian Compass visited the home of the deceased and discovered that Isima was the mother of a three-year-old baby girl.

The girl’s lover, Kabiru Ogunlana, otherwise known as Abel or Dudu who is already married and has two kids, was said to have arrived the Isima’s home at about 4pm on Monday, with his wife.

Ogunlana with his wife cajoled Isima to follow them to the back of the building.

There Ogunlana brought out a knife from his back pocket and started stabbing the girl on every part of her body, while his wife watched.
The girl’s screams of pain rented the air and attracted people to the scene. She was stabbed severally on her chest, laps, leg and hands. The stab holes were 'uncountable', according to an eye witness.

Isima’s grandmother, Kuburatu Lateef, who just lost her husband last December, said she was inside the room, still mourning as tradition demanded, when she heard Isima’s screams coming from the back yard.

She ran there and saw Ogunlana, cutting and stabbing the girl like she was a beef. She tried to intervene to save the girl, whom she had brought up since she was seven years old, but Ogunlana threatened to stab her too.

Kuburatu ran outside, yelling for people in the street to come to her aid. Before help came, Isima was dead.

The Nigerian Compass gathered that Ogunlana turned the knife on himself after he realized that he had killed Isima. His wife however was said to have bolted when she realized he was stabbing the victim in a frenzy.

Narrating the incident of that fateful day, Kuburatu said that since her grand-daughter started dating Ogunlana, she had told the victim without mincing words that she didn’t like her man.

The aged woman, who told Nigerian Compass that Isima’s mother died 25 years ago, explained that Isima had earlier married a man, who she had a three-year-old daughter for. She later walked out of the relationship, especially since the man had no apartment of his own.

Kuburatu, who sat on the floor of their one storey building crying, said: “Isima was learning sewing before she died. I told her I didn’t like this Abel, but she insisted she wanted to marry him. I didn’t like him because he was already married and has two children. On that fateful Monday, he had the effrontery to come to this house with his first wife. They both took my daughter to the back of the building. I was mourning and was not supposed to be going outside. We later heard that when Isima got to the back of the house with them, the first wife said, ‘here she is. Didn’t you say you’ll kill her when you set your eyes on her? Now kill her.’

“Immediately the wife said that, Abel brought out a knife hidden in his back pocket and started stabbing my little girl everywhere. There was blood everywhere. She was screaming. I tried to help her, but Abel wanted to kill me too. Abel’s wife ran away. She simply disappeared. I ran outside, shouting for people to come and help me. Abel realized that Isima was dead, he tried to run, and people started chasing him. He turned around, faced the crowd and stabbed himself. I want police and government to help me get justice for the murder of my daughter. I don’t have anybody to fight for me except God.”

When the Nigerian Compass visited Ogunlana’s home, to know what led him to kill his lover, it was discovered that Ogunlana was still in hospital, while his wife had disappeared with the children.

The compound where Ogunlana used to live, was deserted, except for two tenants-a pregnant woman and a man.

They said that everyone in the compound had parked out after people living at Isima’s street, staged a protest to the compound. They vandalized every tenant’s room, breaking television sets, breakable plates and cups. They also vandalized window louvers.

The ground was covered with pieces of smashed glasses. Ironically, all the rooms were damaged, except for Ogunlana’s small room, which was at the back of the building.

It was further gathered that the building would have been set ablaze with the tenants all inside, but for the timely intervention of the Oba in the area, who alerted policemen.
